  • Grumpy Cat Has Earned More Than $1 Million

    Seriously?

Tardar Sauce – better known as Grumpy Cat – has cashed in on her look to the tune of more than $1 Million.

Owner Tabatha Bundesen has been quite savvy in keeping her meal ticket pet busy making appearances on a variety of shows, including the MTV Awards and most recently, American Idol. She took a leave of absence from her day job at Red Lobster to manage Grumpy Cat’s schedule.

Tabatha’s brother, Bryan Bundesen, said with various endorsements, appearances and merchandising, Grumpy Cat was worth around $1 million.

Grumpy Cat, who owes her grouchy look to feline dwarfism, has more than 5 million “likes” on Facebook and was featured on the front covers of The Wall Street Journal and The New Yorker.

The famous feline made a guest appearance on Wednesday’s American Idol, a sure sign the show is in desperation mode.

Judges Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban, Harry Connick Jr, Randy Jackson, and host Ryan Seacrest fawned over Grumpy Cat, posed for pictures and took their own selfies.

Grumpy Cat didn’t seem too impressed with her visit to Idol.

How much more could this frowning feline make in the future? Considering cats have nine lives, it could be substantial.

  • Jennifer Lopez Honored With The Top GLAAD Award

During last night’s presentation of the 2014 GLAAD Awards, Jennifer Lopez was among the honorees. It marks the 25th year that the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation Media Awards have taken place, and they were held at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles.

In addition to Jennifer Lopez, actress Laverne Cox from Orange Is The New Black was honored, and she is someone who has been very outspoken about her life as a transgender woman, and wanting others to feel open and comfortable with their body.

The award was presented to her by Ellen Page, who was also making her first public appearance since coming out on Valnetine’s Day, and she discussed how one of the best things about it was being able to publicly show support for those people who give her courage.

Jennifer Lopez was presented with the top prize, the Vanguard Award, which celebrates the efforts to increase visibility and understanding of the gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender community. She was supported by her boyfriend Casper Smart at the event.

While not a lesbian herself, Lopez was honored for the work that she does publicly, as well as her involvement with the new show The Fosters. The award was presented to her by Rita Moreno, who mentioned that “It’s ironic that Jennifer Lopez has been so successful as a judge on ‘American Idol’ because the woman in real life does not judge.”

In her acceptance speech, she described her Tia Marisa, who was gay, and one of the driving forces for convincing the 44-year-old singer and actress to become a part of the series, and show such care for the gay and lesbian community.

Speaking on her aunt, and her involvement with the show, she said “I also realized the lessons I’ve learned from my family about love, tolerance, and acceptance. We loved her… So I wanted to do this because I thought that she would be so proud of me. I thought about that a lot when I was doing this and as I do it now. I think, ‘She would love this.”

Jennifer Lopez was a bit hesitant to work on the show due to its subject matter, but she is glad that she decided to go through with it, thanks to the impact that it is having. The Fosters is a series that focuses on a lesbian couple raising their two twins, and foster children. She serves as an executive producer on the ABC series, which also won an award for outstanding drama series.

  • Jennifer Lopez Among 2014 GLAAD Honorees

Jennifer Lopez was honored at the 2014 GLAAD Awards this weekend at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles. The 25th annual Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation Media Awards was dubbed ‘GLAAD 2.0’ by CEO Kate Ellis.

“It’s a whole new world for us,” she said.

Ellen Page made her first public remarks since coming out while she presented the Stephen F. Kolzak award to Laverne Cox from Orange is the New Black.

“One of the best things about it was the way it enabled me to publicly show support for the people who inspire me and give me courage,” Page said.

Cox, who also received a GLAAD Media Award back in 2009 for starring in VH1’s I Want to Work for Diddy, shared what she has in common with Lopez, who previously was in a relationship with Diddy.

“I’d like to think about after doing that show that Jennifer Lopez and I both have some memories with Diddy that we’re trying to forget,” she said.

Host Ross Matthews expressed his admiration for Jennifer Lopez, saying, “Honey, I’m gay but there’s always room for J. Lo,” said Matthews. “I love you Mami.”

Rita Moreno presented the Vanguard Award to Jennifer Lopez, and remarked about Lopez’s acceptance of the first openly gay contestant on American Idol.

“It’s ironic that Jennifer Lopez has been so successful as a judge on American Idol because the woman in real life does not judge,” Moreno said.

Lopez admitted she experienced a bit of trepidation about working on The Fosters, which focuses on a lesbian couple raising their two twins as well as some foster children.

“I asked myself, do I do this or do I not do this,” said Lopez. “I’m not going to lie to you. Being in the media, being in the public eye is a bitch sometimes and sometimes you don’t feel like getting beat up that day.”

Jennifer Lopez serves as executive director of The Fosters, which is set to air for its second season on the ABC Family network starting in June.

Kudos to J. Lo for receiving the GLAAD honor, but even more importantly for being the kind of loving and accepting person that she so clearly is. The world could use more people like her.

  • Jennifer Lopez Honored at GLAAD Awards

Jennifer Lopez Honored at GLAAD Awards

Jennifer Lopez was among those honored at the 25th annual Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) Media Awards at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles on Saturday.

Rita Moreno, the first Hispanic woman to ever win an Oscar, presented the Vanguard Award to Lopez for her work as an executive producer on the ABC Family drama series, The Fosters.

“It’s ironic that Jennifer Lopez has been so successful as a judge on American Idol, because she doesn’t judge,” Moreno said.

Lopez, onstage in a sequined dress by designer Zuhair Murad, explained that she was conflicted about working on The Fosters, which focuses on a lesbian couple raising their twins and foster children.

Lopez said that she listened to her “heart” over her “gut” when she made the decision to work on the show.

“I asked myself, do I do this or do I not do this,” said Lopez. “I’m not going to lie to you. Being in the media, being in the public eye is a bitch sometimes and sometimes you don’t feel like getting beat up that day,” she said.

“I’ve always felt tremendous love for the LGBT community and the LGBT community has always supported me and returned that love. That was one reason I wanted to produce this,” the 44-year-old singer said.

Lopez also said her Aunt Marisa was an inspiration in her decision to work on The Fosters.

“Tia Marisa was my cool aunt. She was my mom’s older sister. I lived in the Bronx and she lived in Manhattan. Like worlds away. And she wanted to be an actress and I always wanted to be like her,” Lopez continued.

“Marisa [was] gay in a time [when] life could be very difficult, and that her struggles were mostly kept to herself. It wasn’t until I got older that I really got to know and appreciate the difficulties that she dealt with and the struggles of her community,” Lopez said.

“I also realized the lessons I’ve learned from my family about love, tolerance, and acceptance…So I wanted to do this because I thought that she would be so proud of me. I thought about that a lot when I was doing this and as I do it now…The world is changing and that’s because love is stronger than hate. It’s been proven many times tonight,” Lopez said.

Ross Matthews, who hosted the awards ceremony, cracked jokes throughout the evening, and expressed his admiration for Lopez.

“Honey, I’m gay but there’s always room for J.Lo,” said Matthews.

“I love you Mami,” he said.

    Lopez donated $25,000 to GLAAD.

Transgender actress Laverne Cox, who stars in the Netflix series Orange is the New Black, was also honored at the event.

Additional awards will be distributed at the GLAAD event in New York on May 3.

  • Jennifer Lopez Receives GLADD Vanguard Award

“Honey, I’m gay but there’s always room for J. Lo.”

That’s what Ross Mathews said at the 25th Annual GLAAD Media Awards that took place yesterday, April 12, in Los Angeles.

Looking flawless as usual, Jennifer Lopez attended the awards ceremony with her boyfriend Casper Smart, and the two were the talk of the event. Lopez sported a body hugging sparkly blue dress, while Smart went with a more corporate look, wearing a plain blue suit and polka dot tie.

The American Idol judge was in attendance to accept GLAAD’s Vanguard Award, which was given to her for supporting the LGBT community since the start of her career.

After receiving the award, Lopez thanked the LGBT community for their years of support and she also spoke about her late aunt Marisa, who was gay and inspired Lopez to be an artist.

The singer and actress spoke about her aunt living an artistic lifestyle, and always felt bad that she had to keep her struggles to herself.

“I’ve always felt a tremendous love from the LGBT community and the LGBT community has always supported me and returned the love,” said the 44-year-old.

“Marisa was my cool aunt. She was my mom’s older sister and she lived in New York City. I lived the in the Bronx and she lived in Manhattan, it was like worlds away. She wanted to be an actress and I always wanted to be like her. Marisa grew up gay in a time when it meant life could be very difficult and that her struggles were mostly kept to herself.”

In a 2010 interview Lopez said she consciously makes songs for the LGBT community, particularly the gay community, and the club scene.

“To be honest, yes, I really do,” she stated.

“I love dance music and I know that’s very big in the club culture and in the gay community, so I feel like you can’t not think about them. I also think about whether or not they’ll want to impersonate me. I’ll be like, ‘Is this outfit any good? Would any drag queen want to put this on? No? Then forget it–it’s not worth it.’”

  • Jennifer Lopez Disses Diddy And Ben Affleck

There’s no doubt the media loves when Jennifer Lopez is in a relationship, because journalist, photographers, and just about every kind of celebrity publication covers that relationship extensively, and it’s been that way ever since J Lo married her first husband Ojani Noa in 1997.

So when Los Angeles radio personality Big Boy interviewed Lopez and asked her about her former flames Sean Diddy Combs and Ben Affleck, it’s safe to say that all ears were glued closely to the speakers.

Here’s what Big Boy asked the gorgeous 44 year old:

“You’re on a raft in the middle of the ocean. You look in the ocean, you see two people floating. You can only pull up one because that’s how much room you have on the raft. You look in the ocean, you see Ben Affleck and you see Diddy,” asked Big Boy.

    )

Lopez’s answer was hilarious: “I’d let both those mother f–kers drown,” she replied, which left Big Boy, Lopez and everyone else in the room in stitches.

But before her response got back to Affleck and Diddy, Lopez said she was only kidding and that she didn’t want to start any unnecessary drama. “That’s terrible,” she said. “I’m just joking. Ben, Puffy, you know I love you. You know that. They know it. It was a good punch line. This is the worst interview ever. You are crazy. You got me in trouble.”

In a recent interview with InStyle magazine, Lopez admitted that she found it difficult to be alone, and said she really enjoys being in a relationship. “Look, I don’t love being alone. I don’t,” she said. “I can’t beat myself up for that. What I have to do is figure out why I don’t like it.”

“Why am I not okay with being alone? And can I ever be okay facing that? In the past, love for me has always meant forever, and sure, you still nurse some of those fantasies, but I don’t try to force it anymore.”

  • Jennifer Lopez: Steamy New Song With French Montana

Jennifer Lopez has released what is being described as a racy new song, and it features French Montana. The American Idol judge’s new single is called I Luh Ya PaPi, and it has fans speculating that it’s about her boy toy Casper Smart–who she just happens to call ‘Papi.’ The 44-year-old has been in what is described as a serious relationship since shortly after her split from hubby Marc Anthony. Casper Smart is 27 years old.

The song is steamy/dirty and will be featured on Jennifer Lopez’s new studio album that is set for release some time in 2014. All about sex, love, J Lo and Casper, the lyrics might get bleeped out on some radio stations, but will certainly receive ample play time.

“I put it down for a brother like you/Give it to you right in the car, that’s you/We can first give you some of this, that’s you/And you’re all loving that J.Lo, true,” the song starts.

“Hold up, I can get you thrown up/Pull your trigger, go and get your gun up/All the time I hear her talk/Put a pin in it, now I’m ready, let it rock/Keep it number 1, that’s easy mathematics/Keep it number 1, baby, ain’t no static/Got that hourglass for you, baby, look at these legs/No brakes, go green, no red/If you wanna kill the body, gotta start with the head.Put it on you, I’mma need about 4-5 beds/Cause I love my papi.”

Strangely enough, there is even a Miley Cyrus reference in the lyrics, too.

“Oh that 24 hour/Feeling like I want one when it’s crowded/If you wanna hear your name, I shout it/Boy, you the s–t, go and take a power shower/And I’m feeling like it’s me and you, I don’t doubt it/You can drop it how you want, I ain’t trying to call Miley/I’m loving me some you/Started from the bottom, baby, then we went roof/Cause I love my papi.”

The release of I Luh Ya PaPi comes of the heels of her release with Ricky Martin called Adrenalina. The two even grind against each other in the music video, with Ricky Martin taking a tantalizing nibble on J Lo’s ear.

J Lo recently promoted her new song at an L.A. radio station.

It certainly sounds like Jennifer Lopez’s upcoming album might even be too hot to handle. Featuring all these steamy songs–plus French Montana–it is likely destined for the top of the charts. And I Luh Ya PaPi is probably set to become a very familiar spring and summer tune.

  • Jennifer Lopez Heats Up Two New Music Videos

Ricky Martin and Jennifer Lopez heated things up in Wisin’s latest music video “Adrenalina.”

Martin and Lopez grind up on each other as the song hits their duet. Jenny from the block leans into Martin, grinding her hips in the most seductive manner possible. We’re actually not surprised Martin made the move that he did next.

Martin was so provoked by the moment and Lopez that he seductively nibbled on her ear during the video. Lopez kept moving and playing along.

Lopez’s latest music video comes right after her “Same Girl” release.

“We did it very guerrilla-style, just me and the camera, and it turned out pretty cool,” she told Jay Leno while he was still hosting the Tonight Show With Jay Leno.

“Those were all neighborhood people,” she later explained. “They just walked down the street and they just started following. They all just started gathering around and we were like, ‘You want to be in the video?’ It was so much fun and there was so much love out there. I wanted to capture that.”

The music video brought back a lot of memories for the American Idol judge.

“It just reminded me of all those amazing moments of riding on that train back and forth to Manhattan and back to the Bronx.”

  • Jennifer Lopez To Star In New NBC Cop Drama

Back in the day, a movie star would never play on a TV series, because historically the small screen and the silver screen were on opposite ends of the entertainment spectrum.

But within the last decade or so, more and more movie stars are taking on TV projects for a number of different reasons, and the latest star to do so is Jennifer Lopez, as she’s already carved out a new career as a judge on American Idol, but she’s not stopping there.

According to reports, she’ll be starring in her own NBC cop drama entitled Shades of Blue. Lopez will also be executive producing the show along with her fellow Idol chum Ryan Seacrest.

Like many other movie stars who have children, it’s likely that Lopez wants a job that doesn’t force her to travel to far off places, and the fact that she can work close to home probably is what secured her decision to be on Idol and Shades of Blue.

On the show, Lopez will play Harlee McCord, a single mother who works undercover for the FBI’s anti-corruption division, said NBC.

Shades of Blue is a “complex police series that centers on Harlee McCord a single mother and detective recruited to work undercover for the FBI’s anti-corruption task force,” said the network in a statement.

“Part of a close-knit unit known for its conviction record, Harlee has become compromised by her colleagues, all of whom also pitch in to help her raise her daughter, and finds herself faced with the moral dilemma of working against her cop brothers in order to redeem herself.”

Jennifer Salke, President of NBC Entertainment, said the network is thrilled to have Lopez on board and she looks forward to working with her and writer Adi Hasak.

“Whether it’s producing, acting, singing or any of her other many entrepreneurial activities, Jennifer is an extraordinary talent and life force, and we’re delighted to be in business with her and Adi Hasak on this sophisticated show,” said Salke.

  • Jennifer Lopez Slammed By Rosie Perez In New ‘Tell-All’ Memoir

Jennifer Lopez has apparently rubbed Rosie Perez the wrong way over the years. Now, all of the details about their contention are coming to the light.

According to US Weekly, Perez, who recently published her memoir Handbook for an Unpredictable Life, had a lot to say about her apparent, on-going feud with the singer-actress.

The tell-all memoir recounts a number of events that have occurred between the two over a 23-year span.

The accounts that Perez shares definitely reveal that the two weren’t the best of friends.

The New York Post has released excerpts from the new book, which is scheduled to be released on Feb. 25.

    (image)

The book revealed that the two Puerto Rican dancer-actresses initially met during the In Living Color open casting call for the show’s memorable Fly Girls. Perez was actually the famed head choreographer behind the show’s dance group.

She also stated that her influence was one of the reasons that Lopez was selected, as she convinced the sketch comedy television series creator Keenan Ivory Wayans to pick her.

While Lopez has always accredited Wayans for her Fly Girl breakthrough, Perez begs to differ. The Fearless actress claims that Lopez was actually “chubby and corny.”

However, Wayans has also shared his perspective of the American Idol judge. Back in 2010, Wayans made a cameo on VH1’s Behind the Music segment on Lopez. He stated that he immediately noticed that Lopez had star potential. He also recalled one of the memorable moments where she exuded that star quality he spoke of.

    (image)

“I’d been there hours and seen every dancer in New York, and then this young girl steps up and a spotlight landed on her and she captivated everyone in the room,” Wayans recalled. “He just saw something in me,” Lopez confirmed. “He would always tell me, ‘You’re going to be a big star.’”

Although both Lopez and Wayans were on one accord, Perez shared more detailed accounts to further explain her disdain for the Maid in Manhattan actress. She revealed that Lopez had difficulty remaining amicable with most of the Fly Girls during her time on In Living Color. Perez claims Lopez didn’t initially connect with the other girls, as her “inner diva” was quite evident from the start.

“All of the girls were coming into my office complaining how she was manipulating wardrobe, makeup, and me, all to her advantage,” Perez recalled. She even recounted one squabble in particular with Lopez where she claims things got out of hand between her and the Grammy-nominated singer.

    http://youtu.be/iBgS_nodk6Y

Perez took things a step further in her memoir with a more blatant indignation saying that Lopez quickly dropped the “sweet girl act” and “went off” on her like “some ghetto biatch, screaming and pounding her chest.”

Perez even recalled the verbal sparring match between the two. “You pick on me, me and only me, every f**king day! Every f**king day!,” Lopez exasperatingly shouted. “I work my ass off, deliver and you keep pushing me aside, treating me like s**t! I know I’m good! I’m better than any of these girls, and you know it.”

Handbook for an Unpredictable Life should be quite an interesting read. Lopez has not released any comments in reference to the book.

  • Jennifer Lopez “Ghetto Biatch” According To Book

Remember when we were instructed by “Jenny from the Block” to not be fooled by the rocks? According to a new memoir by actress Rosie Perez, there may have been a good reason for it. The two women have been feuding for some time, and now Perez intends to dish on how it all began.

The New York Post shared juicy excerpts from Perez’s book, which at least provide us with her half of the explanation for why the two New York natives don’t get along.

Lopez and Perez, met back in 1991. Rosie Perez was a choreographer for “In Living Color” and Jennifer Lopez arrived to audition as a “Fly Girl” dancer.

Lopez credits her fame to show creator and host Keenan Ivory Wayans. However, Perez stated that Wayans found Lopez to be “chubby and corny” and implied that if not for interceding on behalf of Lopez, she would not have gotten the job.

It was also stated by Perez that Lopez’s first big break only came after a haircut and dropping roughly twenty pounds.

The Brooklyn-native didn’t stop there, adding that Bronx-native Lopez quickly revealed herself to be “a diva” and single-minded backstabber.

“All of the girls were coming into my office complaining how she was manipulating wardrobe, makeup, and me, all to her advantage,” Lopez rejected the accusations made by the other girls, saying that they were all just “jealous” of her talent and ambition.

Perez stated that Lopez actually went off on her, behaving in her words like “some ghetto biatch, screaming and pounding her chest!”

She alleged that Lopez ranted that Perez was singling her out unfairly.

“You pick on me, me and only me, every f–king day! Every f–king day! I work my ass off, deliver and you keep pushing me aside, treating me like sh-t! I know I’m good! I’m better than any of these girls, and you know it!”
Lopez would leave the show after two seasons, but she eventually made her opinions about Perez’s alleged treatment of her well known once she established herself in Hollywood.

Perez claims that she was “blindsided” by Lopez’s remarks.

“I’d thought we were cool. I called her up. She wouldn’t pick up. Frustrated, I left her an irate message on her answering machine. Instead of calling me back and hashing it out like friends do, she went on a major talk show and reiterated my lashing.”

Is Jennifer Lopez a self-centered ego maniac or is Rosie Perez just spiteful and jealous?

The only people who know for certain are the two women at the center of this feud. One thing is certain, if Lopez loves to speak out about Perez in the manner stated in the book, we can expect to hear a rebuttal from Lopez sooner rather than later.

  • Harry Connick, Jr. Gives American Idol a Facelift

Last night the 13th season of American Idol began and, unlike last season, there was a lighthearted feel, a comic love throughout the building.

For one, drama diva judges Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj are gone. Jennifer Lopez has returned after a “transformative” season away with a great rapport with Keith Urban, who is back for his second season. But the biggest, and best, change is the addition of singer and pianist Harry Connick, Jr.

Connick’s goofy humor brings an infectious joy to the show, which has been on a downward trajectory for a few seasons now.

Last night 19-year old singer Munfarid Zaidi from Pakistan said to Connick, “I read your Wikipedia page every night before going to sleep.”

“If you blow us away with the first song, I’d like to pick you up like a baby and hold you,” Connick told the singer, who did just that with his jazzy rendition of Adele’s “Crazy For You.”

After the song, Zaidi held out his arms and Connick ran to him and cradled him like a newborn baby. “You can put your head on my shoulder,” the professional singer said and the two began to sing together.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CxCJCJJd0vU

This is only one example of the fun that the 46-year old brought to the first episode of the new season. But Connick is also about real musicality, family, and honesty.

According to People, Connick questioned the contestants on music theory like the pentatonic scale. “What’s wrong with challenging America?” he asked.

The difference between his honesty and former judge Simon Cowell’s is that none of Connick’s comments are in any way malicious.

“I’m responding to a performance,” he said. “And I don’t believe you have to couch your critique in some compliment. That’s my style…If somebody can’t sing, they need to go home.”

“You have to be specific with them, you know: ‘I didn’t like the performance. Here’s exactly why,’” he added. “You’re not going to see me just basing stuff on subjectivity. It’s unfair to them. When I didn’t play or sing right when I was coming up, they’d say, ‘Stop. Here’s what you need to work on.’ And then you go work on it.”

Connick has been married to his wife, Victoria Secret model Jill Goodacre, since 1994. The two have three daughters together.

“I married the girl of my dreams, and I’m so happy, I don’t even see another couple,” he said at the Television Critics Association winter TV previews on Monday.

Last night when 17-year old standout, Sam Woolf, sang, Connick was pleased. “My daughters are going to go absolutely crazy for that kid.”

Other standouts on the premiere last night included 24-year old Shanon Wilson, guitarist Malcolm Allen, 17-year old Marialle Sellars, and 21-year old guitarist Savion Wright who has ADHD and sang an original song, “Hiding in Fear.”

“The other competitors are going to be very intimidated by you,” Connick told Wright.

Connick has been playing publicly since age 5 and has sold over 28 million albums worldwide. His 1993 album, “When My Heart Finds Christmas,” is one of the best-selling Christmas albums in the United States. He has won three Grammy awards and two Emmy awards and is ranked in the top 60 best-selling male artists in the United States.

Along with his jazz music, Connick has also maintained a television and film career, appearing as Dr. Leo Markus on Will and Grace, and in the films Memphis Belle, Independence Day, Hope Floats, Bug, Dolphin Tale, and as a serial killer in Copycat.

American Idol continues on Thursday night at 8 p.m. ET on FOX.

  • Jennifer Lopez: Will She Marry Casper Smart?

Will Jennifer Lopez marry her boyfriend Casper Smart? Even though she says he is “fantastic” with her twins Max and Emme, she says she doesn’t know if she is quite ready to say “I do” again.

“I’m one of those people who does not like to be alone,” she said. “I have no shame saying that at this point in my life. I think we have to own who we are.” Lopez has always preferred being in a relationship versus being single, but is unsure if she is ready to make a marriage commitment for the fourth time.

“I don’t know. We’ll see. I don’t know,” she said when asked about a possible marriage to Smart. “You know, I’ve always believed in that institution. I believe in it, but it is difficult. I’ve had my challenges, but at the same time I believe in love, and I think that is the main thing.”

She does, however, gush over how good he is with her children. “I don’t like the word father figure, but he’s fantastic with the kids and he helps me very much with my work,” she said. “It was his idea, he knew I had the idea to do ‘Same Girl,’ and go shoot that in the Bronx and he was like, ‘When are we going to be in New York again? Come on I’ll do it with you, let’s go do it. Let’s put that dream down for you.’ And he basically produced it with me, so he’s fantastic in that way.”

If you tuned into to American Idol last night, you may have noticed that Lopez has made her way back to the judging panel, after a year away from the show. “That was such a transformative year for me in so many ways,” Lopez said. “I had just divorced, I went on tour with the kids, and I left Idol. All my security blankets were gone, and I was out there doing something I had never done before.”

Lopez reveals that she wouldn’t have made it through that year if it wasn’t for the love and support that she received from her friends and family. “I was surrounded by love and family,” said Lopez.. “I really grew. My goal was not to come out the other side and just survive it but grow as a human being as well as an artist, and I felt I did. I learned a lot.”

  • Harry Connick Jr.: Can He Save ‘American Idol?’

Harry Connick Jr. will be seated in one of three judge’s seats when the new season of American Idol premieres on Wednesday January 15th. Along with Jennifer Lopez, who is returning for season 13 after having left the show following season 11, and Keith Urban, who is returning to season 13 from a very successful (for him, anyway) season 12, Connick makes the final judge to complete the new panel. American Idol is fast failing in the ratings and this decline was set into motion when The Voice entered the picture. Some believe Harry Connick Jr. has what it takes to save American Idol from a definite demise. It will certainly be interesting to see if he has what it takes to raise its ratings once again above those of The Voice. After all, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton have a huge following. And this season of The Voice means the return of Shakira and Usher–both of whom viewers loved during their first season on the show.

On Tuesday evening January 14th, live screenings of the American Idol Season 13 premiere will appear at movie theaters in select cities around the country. Following the premiere the judges, along with host Ryan Seacrest, will answer questions about the upcoming season. You don’t have to be in one of the select theaters to check this out. It will be available online as well via a special “sticker” fans can get when clicking on a link available on the Idol website or on the Idol Twitter page. It will be interesting to learn what fans think of new judge Harry Connick Jr.

Fans in L.A. lined up much earlier in the day for a shot at getting in on this question and answer session firsthand.

Do you think Harry Connick Jr. has what it takes to bring American Idol up out of the dumps and back on to at least even footing with The Voice? Or do you think since The Voice has set a brand new standard as a TV singing competition that American Idol has simply met its match?

  • Jennifer Lopez is Britney Spears’ (American) Idol

Jennifer Lopez is reportedly returning to the next season of American Idol, but it seems she’s been an idol for a long time–for Britney Spears. The Las Vegas performer admits she’s long looked to J Lo as a singer and dancer that she very much admires.

Spears admitted she’d love to do movies one day–much the way Jennifer Lopez did after launching her music career. She said she’d even love to star in a film with J Lo.

“Jennifer Lopez is my idol – she’s so beautiful and even though she’s gotten older, she hasn’t aged at all. She looks more amazing than ever and I really admire and respect that,” Britney said.

Britney Spears recently kicked off her 2-year Las Vegas residency at Planet Hollywood, where she performs her show Piece of Me. She is certainly driven–as Jennifer Lopez always has been–and despite her current amazing gig, is looking to the future. Given her talent on stage, she would likely make the jump to the film world with no problem.

It must be very flattering to Jennifer Lopez (surely she’s heard about it by now) to know that Britney Spears considers her an idol. Imitation has always been the most sincere form of flattery. It will be fun to see if Britney succeeds in all the ways that Lopez has.

  • Celia Cruz Honored By Jennifer Lopez At AMAs

The American Music Awards were full of entertainment this year, with one of the main highlights of the night being when Jennifer Lopez did a tribute performance to the “Queen of Salsa”, Celia Cruz.

Cruz was a Cuban singer and would have celebrated her 88th birthday on Monday. She recorded over 78 albums throughout her lifetime, and was honored with countless awards. She stole the hearts of millions and was loved by Latin music fans all over the world. With her elaborate costumes and style, she developed an easily recognizable image.

During an interview, Lopez talked about her special performance for the Salsa legend. “I felt very honored and a little scared, I don’t think there is anything better for this year’s AMA,” Lopez said. “I know that a lot of fans who will watch the show will know who she was, but we will also educate a lot of people reminding them of the impact she had in the music scene, not just in Latin American countries, but also in the United States.”

Lopez incorporated many of Cruz’ songs including “Quimbara,” “La vida es un carnaval” and “Bemba Colorá.” As the crowd started cheering wildly, Lopez yelled, “Que viva Celia!” (Long live Celia!).

  • Celia Cruz Honored by JLO at AMAs

The American Music Awards in Los Angeles brought viewers countless performances to excite and entertain. At the top of the list, many are commenting on the dance (and singing) number Jennifer Lopez gave as an ode to the talented salsa icon, Celia Cruz. Known as the “Queen of Salsa” Cruz contributed to the music world until her death in 2003, after suffering from brain cancer. The singer was recognized for her talents through many awards including three Latin Grammys and even two Grammys.

In an interview with the Associated Press, Jennifer Lopez spoke about her tribute to the famous salsa legend. “I felt very honored and a little scared, I don’t think there is anything better for this year’s AMA. I know that a lot of fans who will watch the show will know who she was, but we will also educate a lot of people reminding them of the impact she had in the music scene, not just in Latin American countries, but also in the United States.”

Lopez spoke about the “impact” Cruz had on the musical world; however, the vast amount is almost incomprehensible. Cruz released 78 albums. Yes, that is correct. 78 albums. Cruz’s larger-than-life, vibrant, and colorful costumes are remembered as components of her iconic image. The salsa star previously had a postage stamp designed in her honor as well as being the subject of a Smithsonian Museum exhibit. Most recently, Cruz was the center of a Google-Doodle.

As amazing as the tribute Jennifer Lopez was, the real icon had a unique way of rhythmically enjoying her time on stage regardless of what stage she graced.

  • American Idol 2013 Auditions: The New Judges Are Clicking

After American Idol’s previous disaster season, many fans are ready to put the past behind and are looking forward to the changes the show is bringing in 2014. In addition to a new format and producers, Idol made some big changes to the judging panel, which was largely to blame for the drop-off in ratings in 2013. There is only one new face on the judges panel, Harry Connick, Jr., plus Keith Urban is returning and Jennifer Lopez is coming back after taking a season off.

American Idol wrapped up the second round of Salt Lake City auditions on Friday, and so far things seem to be going great. There’s no doubt that Urban has to feel a sense of relief since he won’t likely be in the middle of any cat fights between Connick, Jr. and Lopez, as he endured with Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carrey.

The judging panel appeared on an episode of Ellen that aired Thursday, and the chemistry between the judges seemed very strong. No stink eyes, death threats or curse words were directed at anyone, which is a pretty big step up from 2013.

Lopez had nothing but good things to say for her co-judges, and the feeling seemed mutual. “And, this (pointing to Keith and Harry) is working really great,” Lopez said. “So yeah, we’re having a great time. At the end of the day, everything that’s meant to be happens.”

What do you think of the new judges panel for Idol? Respond below.

The 13th season of American Idol will start on January 15. This will be the first season since the show began that the judging panel will be without Randy Jackson. The news that Jackson was leaving wasn’t a shock considering the Minaj-Carey-ratings situation, but it certainly took Idol to a new low.

Fortunately for fans of The Dawg, Idol announced in early September that Jackson is returning as Jimmy Iovine’s replacement for the in-house mentor. Whew, crisis avoided.

    Jennifer Lopez Attends “DWTS” Premiere

Jennifer Lopez and her boyfriend, Casper Smart, attended the 17th premiere of “Dancing with the Stars” to cheer on her BFF, Leah Remini and her dancing partner, Tony Dovolani.

While at the premiere Lopez tweeted about Remini’s performance, saying that she “couldn’t be more proud!”

Everyone knows Remini from her starring for nine seasons on the hit show, “The King of Queens”. She is also known for her recurring roles on NYPD Blue, Friends, Saved by the Bell, Who’s the Boss?, Fired Up, Evening Shade, and Cheers.

Remini also made headlines earlier this year when she chose to leave her Scientology beliefs and church behind.

“My mother got involved when we were very young so it’s all we ever really knew but over time my eyes opened and I just could no longer be affiliated with the organization and my family felt the same so we left,” Remini told Ellen on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show.”

Now, Remini has been chosen to compete against other stars including: Jack Osbourne, “Snooki”, Christina Milian, and Amber Riley. Her first performance was a success. Len Goodman said that she was “clean and precise”. However, Bruno Tonioli compared her to Miley Cyrus saying: “I thought we were going to see some twerking”.

  • Taylor Swift and Jennifer Lopez Join Forces

Taylor Swift and Jennifer Lopez are teaming up for a new song that will appear on Lopez’ new album that is set to release sometime early next year. This will be Lopez’ eighth album to be released, to date.

“Both of them are huge fans of each other and excited to work together!” a source tells Us.

23-year-old Swift and 44-year-old Lopez recently joined together to sing a duet during Swift’s concert at the Los Angeles Staples Center on August 25. They performed Lopez’ hit song, “Jenny From the Block”. After such a successful performance, the two singers decided to collaborate on another song.

After the performance, Swift and Lopez took to Twitter to share their reaction to the experience of getting to perform together. They both seemed very excited!

While Swift and Lopez will be continuing to focus on their music, many of you have probably heard that Lopez will be returning as a judge on the upcoming season of “American Idol”. She will be joining former judge Keith Urban and newbie to the judging panel Harry Connick, Jr.

Swift is always working on new music and writing new songs. She has said that her follow up album to “Red” is going to be different from her other albums that she has released. “But I think it’s about to start to kick into full gear,” Swift said. “I’m about to go into the studio. It’s about to get really intense.”

  • Jennifer Lopez Gets Some Twitter Love On Her B-day

Jennifer Lopez is celebrating her 44th birthday today, and the actress/singer got quite a few shoutouts on Twitter, including a sweet one from her man and several from celebrities.

Lopez and beau Casper Smart have only been dating since 2011, but the relationship is going well, according to a “source”.

“Her birthday was so much fun and she’s still celebrating,” the source said. “Casper is fantastic and they are in a good groove right now and the kids are adorable. All is well but things have just been busy!”

Smart, who is much younger than Lopez, got quite a bit of media attention when they started dating, not least of all because it was J-Lo’s first relationship since her divorce from singer Marc Anthony. Many predicted it wouldn’t last, but Lopez has said that she’s found a best friend in Smart.

“He’s fantastic; he’s like my best friend. I can tell him everything, when I’m feeling down, when I’m feeling good,” she said in January. “He gives moral support, endless love and support.”
