  • Jennifer Capriati Off The Hook For Battery And Stalking

On Monday it was announced that Jennifer Capriati is off the hook for battery and stalking charges that were brought against her. The former tennis star was reportedly charged in 2013 after a confrontation with an ex-boyfriend.

According to Mike Edmondson, a spokesman for the Palm Beach County State attorney’s office, the misdemeanor charges were dropped after Capriati completed 30 hours of community service and underwent four hours of anger management counseling sessions.

Court documents reveal Capriati completed her community service at Pepin Heart Institute in Tampa, FL and attended anger management sessions last week.

“Those are standard conditions for a deferred prosecution,” Edmondson said.

On Feb. 14th, 2013 (Valentine’s Day), the 37-year-old Capriati is alleged to have repeatedly punched her ex-boyfriend Ivan Brannan at a gym and stalked him for months prior to that incident. A witness, who is also one of Brannan’s co-workers, told authorities that Capriati tried to enter a locked room at their place of business and sometimes called as much as 50 times a day.

Capriati is an international tennis legend who began playing professional tennis at age 13. In the 1992 Barcelona Olympic, she won a gold medal. She also won the women’s Australian and the French Open. Capriati is one of the most accomplished professional women’s tennis players in the world, having won 14 singles tournaments in her tennis career.

This was not the first time the International Tennis Hall of Famer found herself on the wrong side of the law. Her sporting career was briefly interrupted in the mid-1990s when she was arrested for shoplifting and marijuana charges.

Efforts to trace her for comments were not successful.

  • Jennifer Capriati Has Criminal Charges Dropped

A former tennis star who has been plagued with troubles off the court throughout her life, Jennifer Capriati may have just caught a break. She previously had charges brought about involving her and a former boyfriend that implicated her in a case of stalking and battery.

Due to the community service that she has completed, the charges against Jennifer Capriati were dropped today. The charges against her were from an altercation that occurred between her and an ex-boyfriend, an event that occurred in February of 2013.

The former tennis star had been accused of punching former boyfriend Ivan Brannan at a North Palm Beach gym last Valentine’s Day, and of stalking him for months before that.

Capriati had completed her community service at a hospital in Tampa and with four hours of anger management under a deferred prosecution agreement, according to a spokesman for the Palm Beach County state attorney’s office.

The charges were misdemeanors, but have since been dropped due to her community service. The court documents showed that she attended the anger management sessions last week and did her community service at Florida Hospital Pepin Heart Institute in Tampa.

She was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 2012, and after beginning her career at the age of 13, Jennifer Carpriati was able to become the No. 1 player in the world. She won the 2001 and 2002 Australian Opens and 2001 French Open, and also won the gold medal in women’s singles at the 1992 Olympics.

This is also not the first time that Capriati has faced legal troubles and early on in her career, her playing was delayed when she was arrested on charges of shoplifting and marijuana. She was also forced to enter a drug counseling program in 1994, and she had what a spokesperson called an accidental overdose in 2010.

Jennifer Capriati got a deal in the case, and will no longer be facing charges in the initial case of stalking and battery.

  • Jennifer Capriati Charged For Allegedly Stalking, Hitting Ex-Boyfriend

Less than one year after being inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame, tennis prodigy Jennifer Capriati could be in trouble with the law.

The 36-year-old Capriati has been hit with battery and stalking charges in Palm Beach County, Florida. The charges stem from an incident between the former tennis star and her ex-boyfriend on Valentine’s Day. She is alleged to have hit Ivan Brannan on that day, and is also charged with “willfully, maliciously, and repeatedly” stalking the man around Valentine’s Day in 2012.

The New York Post has reported that Brannan told police that Capriati accosted him at a gym on Valentines day and hit him in the chest four times. The report also recounts accusations that Capriati stalked Brannan at his workplace, pounding on the windows and calling him dozens of times a day.

Capriati has denied the allegations via Twitter, stating that Brennan is lying and that she is “outraged” about the allegations:

  • Jennifer Capriati Earns Top Honor In Tennis

At the tender age of 14, Jennifer Capriati burst onto the sports scene to dominate the world of tennis. It would be the beginning of a long and sometimes drama-filled road for Capriati, but now the 36-year old is being recognized in a top honor for her achievements on the court, bringing all of her hard work to a pinnacle.

Capriati was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame on Saturday, a tearful ceremony that saw her introduced by 2009 inductee Monica Seles. She was joined by Gustavo Kuerten and Manuel Orantes, among others, and said she will finally be able to bring some closure to an amazing career.

The tennis star fell into some troubled times as a teenager, getting busted for pot and shoplifting from a Florida mall. She also saw some tough defeats and actually dropped out of the game briefly due to injuries and drug addiction. Later, she had painful surgery on both eyes to remove “sun spots”. Through it all, however, she never lost her passion for the game and eventually came back stronger than ever, winning a gold medal for the U.S. in Barcelona in 1992 and breezing through several championship games to earn the title of Associated Press Female Athlete of the Year in 2001.

“I still managed to overcome some adversity, win a Gold Medal, win some Grand Slams and stand at the podium at the Hall of Fame,” Capriati said tearfully. “This is one milestone I thought I’d never achieve.”
