  • Jenga Cat: This Game Playing Kitty Has Skills [VIDEO]

If you’ve ever gotten annoyed when playing Jenga because your big, clumsy hands are constantly causing that tower to fall over, then you’re really going to be frustrated when you see that a cat can play Jenga better than you. A video of a cat named Moe, who has been dubbed “Jenga Cat,” is making rounds on the Internet, and not only is the game playing cat adorable as heck, that kitty actually has fairly decent skills.

Jenga Cat owner Alan Palesko uploaded the now viral video to YouTube last year, but it just now began taking off. Palesko said one day he and his partner Amy Nicks were playing Jenga and their cat came over and joined in. In the video you can see Moe using his tongue and paw to maneuver pieces out of the tower. Moe gets a little frustrated at the end when his owner is able to keep up with him in the game and abruptly quits (which makes playing with a cat not very different from playing with a kid).

Check out the Jenga playing cat below.

Naturally, there have been a few people yelling “Fake!” over the video. Lest you think that Palesko and his partner have spent countless hours teaching Jenga Cat how to play the game, the feline’s owner says that is not the case. “Despite what people are saying he was not trained,” Palesko said. While there are always going to be a few naysayers, most people seem enthralled with Jenga Cat.

If you’re wondering what’s next for Jenga Cat, it probably isn’t a guest spot on American Idol or even another game of Jenga. According to his owner, the cat hasn’t touched another Jenga piece. “We’ve tried to get him to do it again but no luck so far,” Palesko said. Oh well–at least Palesko was able to capture Moe’s first and possibly last game of Jenga on video for the world to enjoy.

The month of May has certainly been interesting as far as animal headlines go. Earlier this month we reported on a cat saving a young boy from a vicious dog attack, and last night we brought you the story of the depressed goat that ended his hunger strike after being reunited with his burro friend (see a video of the reunion below).

  • Hasbro to Make Tetris-Themed Jenga, Bop It Games

One of the most-popular video games ever created, Tetris, is about to get some real world ports based on its famous block-building structures.

Hasbro and The Tetris Company have just announced a partnership that will see two physical games based on Tetris produced before the end of the year.

The first is called BOP IT TETRIS, which “tests players to match the traditional TETRIS block shaped lights as the challenges get faster and the levels go higher.” The second is JENGA TETRIS, which is pretty self-explanatory. Towers of lego shapes, anyone?

“For almost 30 years, the TETRIS game has been played by hundreds of millions of players across nearly every mobile and video gaming platform,” said Henk Rogers, Managing Director of The Tetris Company. “We’re thrilled to be teaming up with Hasbro to expand the TETRIS brand and give our fans fun, challenging face-to-face formats to experience the ‘Tetris Effect’ in a unique way.”

As you may remember, Hasbro partnered with Zynga last year to launch physical version of popular online games like FarmVille, Draw Something, and Word with Friends. They also recently announced a partnership with EA to bring Popcap’s popular Bejeweled game to the physical world.

You can expect to see the new Tetris Jenga and Tetris Bop It hit store shelves (globally) this August.

  • Angry Birds Dishes Out The Summer Fun With New Lawn Game

Rovio has decided that they are going to try to put their Angry Birds brand on almost everything they can get their hands on. The newest addition to that family is the Angry Birds Action Game. This indoor/outdoor action game actually looks kind of cool.

The goal of it being that you build a Jenga like tower that supports a pig. Then the opposing player has to try to knock the pig off of the tower with either a yellow or red bird, and try to make it land on the mat that is behind it. Whatever section of the mat the pig settles on is what your score is.

Now, I do not know what the rules of this game are, but it look pretty cut and dry. I’m sure if you added your own wooden blocks you could make elaborate set pieces to try and make your competitor fail miserably. You only start with 1 green pig, 1 red bird, and 1 yellow bird. You do have the option to buy more birds like the bomb bird and the boomerang bird and you can also buy more pigs.

The game is available to purchase at perpetualkid.com for $29.99 plush shipping. The kit includes:

    -Plastic Pig
    -Red Bird
    -Yellow Bird
-Scoring Mat ( 1 meter across)
    -3 Wooden Blocks
    -Red Bird Carrying Bag
    -4 Plastic Tees
    -Star Score Pad
    -Rule Card
