  • Shailene Woodley Featured in New “Allegiant” Trailer

    Shailene Woodley is featured in a new trailer for the upcoming film Allegiant. The third film in the Divergent trilogy, Allegiant is set to open in theaters in March.

    The trailer will no doubt make fans wish March was a lot closer than it is. In addition to seeing Shailene Woodley in it, fans can also catch Theo James, Naomi Watts, Jeff Daniels, Ansel Elgort, and Zoe Kravitz in action.

    Allegiant reportedly starts where Insurgent left off. The science fiction films based on the trilogy of books by author Veronica Roth.

    Fans of Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort–the two starred opposite each other in The Fault in Our Stars–will no doubt love seeing them together again in Allegiant.

    In addition to the excitement of the release of the new Allegiant trailer, Shailene Woodley also has a birthday this weekend. The actress will celebrate turning 24 on Sunday.

  • Jeff Daniels Switches Gears Fast from Newsroom to Dumber

    Jeff Daniels was Harry Dunne opposite Jim Carrey’s Lloyd Christmas long before he was a brilliant anchor on Aaron Sorkin’s The Newsroom. Maybe some people thought that it showed progression in Daniels’ career that he was now doing something “respectable.”

    But now The Newsroom is ending. And Harry Dunne is back in Dumb and Dumber To.

    Is this backsliding for Daniels?

    “It’s a thrill to me and a career highlight and perhaps unprecedented to have The Newsroom air its first episode on Sunday night and then Dumb and Dumber To open domestically on Friday,” Daniels told Esquire. “I couldn’t be happier with that. I’ve always wanted to show range.”

    Daniels appreciates the time he has had working with Sorkin and learning more about what news networks do behind the scenes.

    “I have a much better understanding of what they’re doing, Daniels says. “The big thing for me that I came away with was the struggle that they have. In particular, when news is breaking… I look at them as really great columnists. On whatever side of the aisle they’re coming from.”

    Daniels is amazed at what these 24-hour news cycle folks have to do. He said sometimes it’s like they know, “We have three facts, we don’t know anything more, and we have to keep talking for four hours.”

    But he also knows that some of them do not see it as their job to calm and reassure the public in times of crisis.

    “I don’t know about keeping the calm, he said. “Because fear sells. If there’s breaking news you want to keep everybody glued. And that’s part of the struggle. Whether or not there are people in these guys’ ears saying, ‘Keep the fear up,’ they know what keeps people glued. And it’s not ‘Everything’s okay.’”

    But he also sees a place for Harry Dunne and Lloyd Christmas in a world where things can get really scary, really fast, and all unfold on the news before us in real time.

    “I also think that maybe because there’s so much fear, because the world is so complex and dark and the economy isn’t great—though for some we’re being told it is—and Ferguson, Missouri, Ottawa, Ebola, ISIS, there are a lot of things to be scared of. Here’s a place you can go for 90 minutes to get away from that.”

  • ‘Dumb and Dumber To’ Trailer Debuts on ‘Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon’

    The Dumb and Dumber To trailer made its debut on TV Tuesday night on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon, and almost as funny as the trailer was the interaction between Jimmy Fallon, Jim Carrey, and Jeff Daniels ahead of the big reveal. It’s been two decades since the original Dumb and Dumber hit the big screen and it may be that only those who found humor in the first one will show up for the second.

    According to the preview the antics performed by Carrey and Daniels are about the same. The plot for the new film involves the two searching for Harry’s daughter in hopes of convincing her to give up a kidney for her dear old estranged (read: didn’t ever know him) dad.

    Harry and Lloyd live in the same apartment in Dumb and Dumber To as they did in the original and they even wear the same clothes. This could be lost on new viewers or a younger generation if they don’t first rent the DVD of the original.

    “It’s not even a movie anymore,” Carrey jokingly said to Jimmy Fallon. “It’s a phenomenon.”

    Daniels recalled being cast for the original movie.

    “I remember the audition, because I was Mr. Drama and he was Jim, and I had to prove that I could be funny,” he said. “We were doing the hot tub scene, and before we even said a word, he just went into Lloyd.”

    Carrey butt in saying, “I motor-boated him!”

    To get back into Dumb and Dumber character, Daniels said, “I just kind of sloshed my brain around and then I was there.”

    Jimmy Fallon was as funny as Daniels and Carrey with his facial expressions alone as the two discussed the upcoming film. Shortly thereafter the three did a sketch together that involved all of them maneuvering with mannequin arms.

    Dumb and Dumber To is set to hit theaters in the U.S. in November. Will you be visiting the box office incognito so your friends don’t find out or will you simply leave well enough alone–allowing the film from 20 years ago to be your one and only dose of Jeff Daniels and Jim Carrey together on the big screen?

  • “Dumb and Dumber To” Gets New Posters

    The upcoming sequel to 1994’s “Dumb and Dumber,” entitled “Dumb and Dumber To” just got a couple of new promotional posters. The Warner Bros.-distributed film, starring Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels as Lloyd Christmas and Harry Dunne, is set to be released on November 14th.

    The premise of the movie concerns idiotic best buddies Harry and Lloyd setting off on a road trip, in order to obtain a kidney from one of their long lost children. The plot picks up 20 years after the original, and explains what the duo had been up to in the interim.

    The film also stars Laurie Holden and Kathleen Turner, and will feature a cameo by Jennifer Lawrence, who had said in interviews that she is a big fan of the original “Dumb and Dumber.”

    Back in September of last year, Jim Carrey took to Twitter to convey this omen:

    The film is co-written and directed by Bobby Farrelly and Peter Farrelly. The latter brother explain last year, “It’s going well. We have a great script and now we are just trying to get it made. I love the script. It’s exactly like the first one. We pick up 20 years later. We explain what they’ve done for the last 17 or 18 years. We take off from that and it’s just a lot of laughs.”

    Just in case you were wondering, Olivia Munn is not a pill on-set, despite the rumors.

    The Magic Mike actress has scoffed at the recent whispers stating that she has a “know-it-all attitude” and is “overstepping” her boundaries on her most recent gig, The Newsroom. And so has its creator Aaron Sorkin.

    “The story bears no resemblance to reality,” stated Sorkin in a report. “Olivia is a perfect cast member who is loved and respected by the entire cast, by the crew and the producers, by HBO, and especially by me.”

    This is a far cry from what the scathing report stated, including that Munn was acting more like Sorkin’s co-writer instead of an actress, and was even causing waves with the show’s star, Jeff Daniels.

    “Olivia and Aaron’s relationship soured so completely during season two of  The Newsroom that it created a poisonous atmosphere on the set,” said the source.

    Like most celebs, Munn took to Twitter to defend herself:

    Some are wondering if this recent gossip is just a ploy to create a buzz for the upcoming season three of the show. As you may recall, it ended quite a while ago, and perhaps this is a way to get people thinking of the show again. Featuring some seriously zany story lines, such as a doll coming to life, an elderly witch, and an orangutan nurse, such a twist wouldn’t be that unheard of.

    Munn has been on the show since 2012, and plays Sloan Sabbith, a socially awkward senior financial reporter for News Night.

    Jeff Daniels has been suggesting for a while that Harry Dunn and Lloyd Christmas could, finally, after two decades, be returning. Behold, the movie gods are finally granting us a bushel of new hilarious antics! Our favorite heros of humor are on their way back! Harry and Lloyd just started filming Dumb and Dumber To!

    Today, Jeff Daniels provided the proof on Twitter.

    He went backstage to chat up the media after he picked up a surprise Emmy Sunday night, according to USA Today. The statue is for his role as news anchor Will McAvoy in HBO’s drama The Newsroom. What did he plan to do next?

    “We’re going to party until dawn and then I’m going to hop on a plane to Atlanta and start shooting Dumb and Dumber To,” he said.

    In order to please fans of the original, directors Bobby and Peter Farrelly are going to have to take things a bit farther than they did the first time around.
    When Hollywood Life asked about the sequel and if there was something truly horrific to be expected, Daniels said,

    “The scariest thing? There are some things that’s we’re going to do in Dumb and Dumber 2 that make the toilet scene [in the original] seem lame. Pales in comparison and I can’t divulge what, but just that they’ve topped it,” he explained. I can’t even imagine…

    The original “Dumb & Dumber” premiered in 1994, and “Dumb and Dumber To” will most likely come out in 2014 which will make a great twenty year anniversary gift for us fans!

    After suffering through an up-in-the-air status for some time, we finally got confirmation that Dumb and Dumber To, the highly-anticipated sequel to the oft-quoted Dumb and Dumber, was a go. Jim Carrey tweeted out a photo of that famous chipped front tooth, and everything became real. Harry and Lloyd are back, bitches.

    Now, the two stars are tweeting out the first photos from the set – and they’re glorious.

    See? Amazing.

    The film also stars Laurie Holden, Kathleen Turner, Cam Neely, and Steve Tom. Jeff Daniels recently said that we can expect the sequel to push the limits of good taste – even more so than the original.

    “The scariest thing? There are some things that’s we’re going to do in ‘Dumb and Dumber To’ that make the toilet scene seem lame. Pales in comparison and I can’t divulge what, but just that they’ve topped it. The best thing about it? I get to work with a comedic genius,” he recently said.

    Daniels just won his first Emmy award for his decidedly more high-brow portrayal of nightly news anchor Will McAvoy in HBO’s The Newsroom – but it’ll be nice to see him in the much-loved role of Harry Dunne, likely making plenty of fart jokes with Jim Carrey.

  • Jim Carrey Tweets Out Teaser Image of Lloyd Christmas’ Chipped Tooth

    A few hours ago Jim Carrey took to Twitter to share an image of his teeth.

    What’s the importance of this you may be wondering, well he was teasing his reprisal of everyone’s favorite dummy, Lloyd Christmas. If you’re still not sure what I’m talking about, it’s the sequel to Dumb & Dumber, aptly named “Dumber & Dumber To”.

    The film reunites Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels, and also stars Kathleen Turner, Cam Neely and Brady Bluhm. There isn’t much in the way of a film synopsis yet, but below is what IMDB had about the film:

    “20 years after the dimwits set out on their first adventure, they head out in search of one of their long lost children in the hope of gaining a new kidney.”

    It was recently announced that”Dumb & Dumber To” will begin filming in Atlanta soon.

  • Dumb and Dumber 2 To Start Shooting In September

    Dumb and Dumber was not only one of the funniest movies of all time, but it has had a near cult like following for almost 20 years. Well we are getting great news that they are going to start shooting the “true” sequel in September! It has been quite the week for sequel announcements!

    During the press junket for the Farrely Bros. newest movie “The Three Stooges” Peter Farrelly had this to say: “We’re getting set to shoot ‘Dumb and Dumber 2’ in September,” he says. “It’s the first sequel we’ve ever done and we’ve got Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels back.”

    There was a “prequel” but it was different. “We did not do ‘Dumb and Dumberer,’” Farrelly said. “That was a studio thing. So we’ve always wanted to do a sequel and finally Jim called up. Jeff always wanted to do it. We always wanted to do it. Jim was busy, but he called and said, ‘We’ve got to do this thing again.’ He had just watched ‘Dumb and Dumber’ and he said, ‘This is the perfect sequel. Let’s do it.’”

    At this time there is no release date or any news on the script.
