  • Jay Z and Beyonce: Exploiting Justin Bieber?

Jay Z and Beyonce used a mugshot of Justin Bieber at the opening night of their ‘On the Run’ concert at Miami’s Sun Life Stadium on Wednesday night. They also used mugshots of other music artists including Jim Morrison, Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, and David Bowie. Beyonce commented while the mugshots were shown in a montage, saying “even the greatest can fall.”

As most everyone knows, Justin Bieber was arrested in Miami last January on suspicion of DUI and drag racing. But was it necessary for his larger than life mugshot to be shown on huge video screens throughout the stadium? He’s in a very different league than those of Jim Morrison and Diddy. And he’s a kid, too.

Certainly Justin Bieber should do the time for his crimes, but this almost seems like exploitation on behalf of Jay Z and Beyonce. In order for Bieber–who is just 20 years old–to salvage his career and possibly even his life–he needs people to stop thinking of him as a thug. Of course mugshots are in the public domain, so no copyright infringements took place. What Jay Z and Beyonce did wasn’t illegal–just perhaps unkind.

Some concert-goers reacted to the display.

Jay Z and Beyonce moved their tour to the Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati last night. It will be interesting to learn if Justin Bieber’s mugshot was shared there as well.

Justin Bieber needs to take the necessary actions to change his life on his own. No one can do that for him. And if he continues behaving in such a derogatory manner he may very well swirl down that proverbial toilet into a wasted oblivion. But seeing that he is a kid–one who got too much too fast and didn’t know how to handle it–is it right of Jay Z and Beyonce to exploit him this way? Might they have not also swirled down the loo in much the same way if circumstances were different? They certainly have access to many other mugshots of musicians in high places that they could have used instead.

  • Solange Knowles Engaged to Alan Ferguson

Solange Knowles is in the news again, and this time it isn’t for attempting to beat up her brother-in-law Jay Z.

The singer and sister of Beyonce has become engaged to her boyfriend of five years, video music producer Alan Ferguson.

Ferguson put a ring on it on June 23, making it the second engagement and possible marriage for Knowles, who was previously betrothed to Daniel Smith. The two ended their marriage in 2007 and have a nine-year-old son together, Julez.

Fortunately for Ferguson, Knowles says she dated all the undesirable guys a while back.

“Luckily, I dated all of the losers ages ago,” she said in an interview. “My love life has been stable for a while. It’s a f****ed up thing—without conflict it’s a lot harder to write interesting songs.”

Also luckily for Ferguson, Knowles is a woman who knows what she wants and isn’t afraid to go for it. Knowles was the pursuer in the relationship.

    Watch the singer in action:

“Certainly, in the beginning I was the one who approached him so I have always sort of historically been one of those girls that goes after something that I’m into,” she said. “I’m not very old school and like, I’m gonna wait on you. Wait for you to approach me type of situation. I have a lot of guy-like quintessential relationship qualities that I have had to work on.”

Speaking of which, Knowles is also making headlines due to an apparent Facebook scam. A post that has gone viral states that Jay Z cheated on Beyonce, and Solange found the tape that proves it. By clicking on the post, it says you will be able to watch the video for yourself. Of course, there is no tape and Facebookers are taken to a variety of sites that want you to share the post, and then take surveys.

    Watch the video here:

Maybe one day we’ll find out for sure what caused Solange to open a can of whoop ass on Jay Z, but it doesn’t look like today is that day.

  • 50 Cent Did Not ‘Plead The Fifth,’ Calls Jay Z The ‘Most Overrated Rapper’

Rapper 50 Cent made a guest appearance on Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live hosted by Andy Cohen. In one of the segments, the rapper was asked to play “Plead the Fifth,” where he was asked three questions, but could only plead the fifth to one.

Cohen’s first question was “What is it like to be yelled at in the face by Beyonce?” 50 Cent said that it’s not really bad and Beyonce’s breath doesn’t smell. However, he said that he just has to keep his cool, hinting at the way Jay Z behaved when he was attacked by Beyonce’s sister Solange in an elevator last month.

According to 50 Cent, about a month ago he was confronted by Beyonce after she saw him talking to Jay Z, as Beyonce thought that 50 Cent was having a negative interaction with her husband.

For the next question, Cohen asked what sex was like with Kim Kardashian. 50 Cent said that he never slept with her and the dating rumors about them came when he posted a picture of himself with Kardashian at the MTV Awards in Australia.

For the last question, Cohen asked “Who is the most overrated hip-hop star of all time?” 50 Cent answered Jay Z and justified his reply by quoting a line from Jay Z’s song “So Appalled” and said, “He would say he was overrated, Rather be overrated than underpaid.”

50 Cent and Jay Z’s friendly rivalry dates back 15 years. In his 1999 single “How To Rob”, 50 Cent mentions Jay Z and other rappers’ by name, explaining how he would go about robbing each of them. Jay Z answered back with a line from “I’m Hot” by rapping “I’m about a dollar, what the f**k is 50 Cents?”

In an interview with MTV UK in 2011, 50 Cent said that he is not necessarily friends with Jay Z and they “Use each other. Repeatedly. For energy.”

  • Beyonce Miffed at Gwyneth Paltrow?

Is Beyonce miffed at Gwyneth Paltrow? It seems like she is–at least a bit. She doesn’t like word of her charity efforts flaunted in the media–or so she says. Maybe she’s upset with Gwyneth because she’s taking sides with pal Chris Martin since his split with the actress instead.

Here’s how the scene reportedly played out. Beyonce donated a pair of custom Stuart Weitzman stiletto boots to an online charity auction Gwyneth Paltrow was having on her website Goop. She sent out a mass email to prospective buyers using Beyonce’s name as one of the donors.

“After the split, she thought it best that her name wasn’t attached to the event,” a source suggested.

“She would have been fine if they had just sold her stuff anonymously. She doesn’t feel the need to parade all her charity work for people to see, so she was annoyed when the email went out,” the source said.

Beyoncé and her husband Jay Z were known to be close friends with both Gwyneth and Chris, so it may very well be that they don’t want to take sides between the actress and the Coldplay frontman. Beyonce is thought to still be in touch with the actress, but for some reason is keeping things low-key.

“Gwyn and Beyoncé haven’t spoken much since Gwyn’s split with Chris, although Bey has checked in on how she and the kids are doing,” the source shared.

This report is exactly the opposite of what Gwyneth Paltrow said last week in which she suggested she and Beyonce would soon be engaging in a girlfriend’s getaway.

“Gwyneth reckons this is just what her friend needs to get her energy back,” a source told British newspaper The Sun of the supposedly planned vacation.

Some people have even hinted that Gwyneth Paltrow is coaching Beyonce on divorce tips since a rumor about she and Jay Z divorcing has circulated recently.

So what do you suppose the real issue is between Beyonce and Gwyneth Paltrow? Has Bey hopped on the ‘everyone hates Gwyneth’ bandwagon like many people did after recent articles on her parenting style hit the press? Or is this all simply a case of miscommunication? It would certainly seem that Beyonce has way more to do with her time than to fret over a pair of donated boots that sold with her name attached.

  • Dave Chappelle Talks ‘Comedy Central’ With Letterman

Dave Chappelle made his first appearance on the Late Show with David Letterman in ten years and talked about his stint on Comedy Central, including walking away from a reported $55 million deal.

“Of course I would like to have that money,” Chappelle said. “Sometimes I listen to a Jay Z record, and it starts making me feel bad about some of the choices I’ve made. This guy has had more fun on two songs than I’ve had over the last 11 years.”

Chappelle said friends have tried to console him about the lost deal by citing his integrity, but he said there are still some who think his decision to walk away from the Chappelle Show in 2005 was crazy.

“I go home and make my kids some integrity sandwiches,” said the father of three. “There are other things in my life that I do not purchase with money that are very valuable.”

The comedian acknowledged that, at times, he misses the lucrative payoff of his Comedy Central contract.

“The only difference between having $10 million and $50 million is an astounding $40 million,” he said.

Chappelle said he took off for South Africa after making the decision and was unaware of all the coverage of his “mysterious disappearance.”

The comic joked with Letterman that he techically never quit his show. “I’m seven years late for work,” he said.

He told Letterman his departure from the show was equivalent to a divorce in the 1950s.

“People didn’t go to Divorce Court. They’d look at their wife like, ‘baby I am going to go get a pack of cigarettes I will be right back,” Chappelle said. “They just leave with the clothes on their back and make a go of it.”

Chappelle made his appearance on Letterman‘s show to promote his upcoming performances at Radio Music Hall in New York from June 18-26.

  • Jay Z Ridiculed By Dame Dash Over Elevator Fight

Since Jay Z’s incident with Solange Knowles after the Met Gala, rumors have been spreading about what sparked Knowles’ outrage. The reasons are unclear to the public, but everyone seems to have their own opinion on what really happened.

One of the rumors spreading is that Knowles was ticked off by Jay Z’s run in with fashion designer Rachel Roy, who is also the ex-wife of his former business partner Damon Dash. Dash expressed his opinion in an interview.

“If he was trying to holler at my wife… that’s kinda f**ked up. That would be dark. That means he really has some resentment. I would hope that wouldn’t be the case,” Dash said.

Dash and Jay Z had a falling out when Def Jam bought out their company Roc-a-Fella Records in 2004.

Dash was also able to watch the elevator video of Knowles attacking Jay Z and he found it funny. He said that Jay Z is the kind of guy that does not have many “uncool” moments. Dash is also enjoying the fact that Jay Z is being made fun of since the incident, as he believes Jay Z gives the appearance of being “untouchable.”

“I feel nobody teases Jay except me for some reason. It’s just the first time I’ve seen people freely expressing themselves. He has to worry about what people think because if people don’t like what he’s doing, he won’t get that corporate check.”

Dash also expressed his admiration for his former business partner, as he kept his cool throughout the incident and walked out of the elevator as if nothing happened. He said that Jay Z is an expert in conducting himself properly in public.

The public may not know the real reason behind the incident in the elevator, but Dash is hoping that the rumors about his ex-wife and his former business partner are not true.

  • Solange Knowles: Why She Attacked Jay Z

Solange Knowles: Why She Attacked Jay Z

Every family has problems from time to time and right now, Solange and Beyoncé Knowles are struggling to get along. The sisters recently attended the Met Gala after-party on May 5, where they ran into some trouble.

After leaving the party, Solange attacked Beyoncé’s husband Jay Z on an elevator. The attack was caught on video, but the family tried to keep it a secret. In the video Solange and Jay Z exchange words before Solange starts kicking and slapping the rapper.

Jay Z did not fight back and eventually a bodyguard stepped in and pulled Solange away from Jay Z. Beyoncé was present during the attack but did not interfere.

After the video was released, people immediately began to wonder why Solange was so mad at Jay Z and had attacked him. A source close to the family claims that Solange was angry that Jay Z was paying too much attention to designer Rachel Roy.

Roy was once married to Jay Z’s former business partner, Damon Dash. The two have since divorced. When Solange saw Jay Z and Roy getting close, she warned Roy to back off. When Roy didn’t stop talking to Jay Z, Solange got angry and the two started to get physical. The source claims that Jay Z and Beyoncé both tried to intervene and were able to get Solange to leave the party before things got any worse.

It is still not clear why Solange turned her anger towards Jay Z or what he said to make her become so aggressive. All three family members have kept quiet about the fight and Beyoncé seems to a little embarrassed by the incident.

It is also not clear if Beyoncé is mad at Solange or Jay Z or both. Solange removed a photo of Beyoncé from her Instagram a few days after the incident, and while Beyoncé and Jay Z have been seen together since the incident, Solange and Beyoncé have not.

What do you think of the attack and do you think Beyoncé is mad at her sister?

  • Solange Knowles Gives Jay Z A Beatdown In Standard Hotel Elevator [VIDEO]

On May 12, a shocking surveillance video of Solange Knowles hitting Jay Z spread on the internet like wildfire. Reports say that the video was taken in an elevator as the couple, Jay Z and Beyonce, along with Beyonce’s sister Solange, were leaving the Standard Hotel in New York City after attending the Met Gala after-party.

The surveillance video showed Solange kicking and punching Jay Z. Although there was no sound on the video, Solange’s actions were enough to show that she was furious with her brother-in-law. A bodyguard was also present in the elevator. He was trying to stop Solange from attacking Jay Z, but the 27-year-old singer could not be stopped. In the surveillance video, the bodyguard can be seen pushing the emergency switch to keep the incident private.

The couple stayed calm throughout the incident, and there were even snapshots of the three as they got out of the elevator.

A day after the surveillance video leaked, Solange removed all the pictures she had of Beyonce on her social media accounts except for one wherein she and Beyonce were posing together with Melina Matsoukas, a music video editor.

The reason behind the attack is still not clear, but there are speculations that Solange’s temper is caused by her drug problems. Just last year, Solange cancelled the remainder of her tour in Europe due to problems with her “mental and physical health.”

Beyonce’s apparent response to incident via Instagram

A source told US Weekly that it is not the first time Solange flipped out. The source also said that Solange is a nice and sweet person, but small things tend to set her off. “That’s why Bey and Jay were so calm. They are used to this from Solange. It has definitely happened before,” the source stated.

After the Standard Hotel elevator incident, Solange and Beyonce left in one car, while Jay Z got into a separate vehicle.

  • Solange Knowles Attacks Jay Z In Elevator

Solange Knowles Attacks Jay Z In Elevator

So, what is going on between Solange Knowles and her brother-in-law Jay Z? That is the question we are all wanting to know after TMZ released a surveillance video of Solange attacking Jay Z in an elevator.

The incident happened last week at the Met Gala after party that was being held at the Standard Hotel in New York City. In the video you can see Jay Z and Solange enter the elevator peacefully. However, in a few short seconds you see Solange verbally and then physically attacking him.

A large man, said to be a bodyguard, stepped in to try and hold Solange back. However, despite his efforts, she was able to land three good swings, and even attempted to kick Jay Z, but he was able to stop it before it hit him.

Where was Beyoncé during all of this? Apparently, she was standing close by, but never got involved in the altercation. Upon exiting the elevator, Beyoncé and Solange entered one vehicle while a security guard escorted Jay Z to another.

So far, neither Solange or Jay Z have commented on their fight, and it is not known what triggered Solange’s attack. However, the hotel did issue a statement on Monday regarding the incident.

“We are shocked and disappointed that there was a clear breach of our security system and the confidentiality that we count on providing our guests. We are investigating with the utmost urgency the circumstances surrounding the situation and, as is our customary practice, will discipline and prosecute the individuals involved to our fullest capacity.”

  • Jay Z, Beyonce Surprise Coachella Attendees

Jay Z and his lady Beyonce both made surprise appearances at the Coachella festival over the weekend, with Bey supporting sister Solange on stage during her performance of “Losing You” and Jay joining Nas for a late night set.

Nas is celebrating the 20th anniversary of his well-regarded album Illmatic and performed classics like “N.Y. State Of Mind” and “Life’s A Bitch”.

“I bet this album is older than some of y’all out there,” Nas told the audience.

Nas brought Jay Z onstage to help on songs like “Dead Presidents” and “Where I’m From”, and got a little help from Diddy, who sprayed the audience with champagne in celebration of his friend.

“If it wasn’t for you, hip-hop wouldn’t have arrived to the place it has,” Diddy said.

Beyonce, meanwhile, drew Coachella fans over to the stage once everyone realized she was there and gave an energetic performance, which included synchronized dancing with her sister.

“Give it up for my favorite dancing partner and my favorite person in the world, my sister, Beyonce,” Solange said.

  • Blue Ivy Rocks The Cutest Ensemble

    Could she be any cuter?

Jay Z and Beyonce’s daughter Blue Ivy is already on her way to being a New York City fashionista, as her famous parents have already posted photos of the 2-year-old wearing some of the most adorable outfits.

Recently, Beyonce shared one particular image that’s been spreading across the Internet pretty quickly, and it’s of Blue Ivy sporting a black fedora like hat, a stylish trench coat, and the cutest little checkered dress.

The photo shows the superstar child looking back at her mother as she exits a hotel, probably heading to the next town for a performance or some sort of business engagement. And of course Beyonce looked wonderful herself, in a leather two-piece suit and a huge shaggy handbag.

It seems the Partition singer and her daughter are completely inseparable, as the two have been seen pretty much all over the globe together. Some famous working parents choose to leave their child at home with the nanny, but not Beyonce, Blue Ivy has been with her for much of the singer’s Mrs. Carter Tour.

In past interviews Beyonce has spoken at length about how motherhood has changed her, and she said that once Blue Ivy was born she felt like a much stronger person.

“[Having a child] just gives you purpose and all of the things that my self-esteem was associated with, it’s all completely different,” she said.

“I realized why I was born, and more than anything, all of the things I want to pass onto my child, and the best way of doing that is not by preaching or telling her, but showing her by example, which is one of the reasons I’m here.”

And one of the things she’ll definitely be showing her daughter is how to be stylish, and if Blue Ivy dresses this well at 2 years old, what will she be wearing once she becomes a teenager? She’ll probably be an international fashion icon at the very least, since she’s becoming one already.

  • Victor Cruz, Of NY Giants, Talks Old Beef With Jay Z

New York Giants’ wide receiver Victor Cruz may be flying high now since he signed with Jay Z’s Roc Nations Sports, the sports management company that was started by the rapper in 2013, but before putting his pen to paper and making everything official, Cruz says he and Jay had a little beef.

    Here’s what happened:

After the Giants won the Super Bowl in 2012 against the New England Patriots, somebody from Jay Z’s camp reached out to a representative of Cruz’s and wanted him to attend a celebration party at 40/40–the Manhattan night club owned by Jay Z.

But the person representing Cruz didn’t speak for him anymore, and on his own, that person told Jay’s rep that Cruz would only show up to the party if he was paid $30,000, and once the rapper heard that he stopped speaking to Cruz completely.

“Before I had a conversation with Jay about this sports thing, we had like legitimate, light-weight beef,” said Cruz in a radio interview.

“It was kinda weird. He threw a party at 40/40 after we won the Super Bowl. I had no clue about it. I guess someone from the Roc camp reached out to somebody that I was or was not working with at the time…and clearly it wasn’t my people or who I thought was my people, and they called him or her, whoever it was, and was like ‘Yo, we’re trying to get Vic to this party.’ And they was like, ‘Nah, Vic’s not showing up unless he gets 30K.’”

But the wide receiver didn’t know anything about the conversation, so when he saw Jay Z at a local basketball game, the rapper gave him the cold shoulder.

“So I had no idea,” said Cruz. “I saw Jay and [Shawn] Pecas at a game and I ended up bum-rushing this back room that they were all in at half-time and nobody said a word to me….I was like, ‘Damn, no love?’ And I had no idea why.”

Luckily for Cruz the two cleared up the misunderstanding, which led to the football player signing with Roc Nation Sports a little while after.

  • Jay Z Disses Drake In New Song: Will Drake Respond?

In the world of hip hop, you can’t really say something about another rapper without that rapper saying something back, and in February Drake kind of dissed Jay Z and criticized his new interest in high-end art.

It’s possible that you haven’t noticed yet, but it seems Jay Z raps a lot about paintings and famous artists like Jean-Michel Basquiat and Andy Warhol these days, and for some reason Drake doesn’t care for it, as he said this in Rolling Stone last month:

“It’s like Hov can’t drop bars these days without at least four art references,” said Drake. “I would love to collect [art] at some point, but I think the whole rap/art thing is getting kind of corny.”

Now, this isn’t the first time the Toronto rapper has taken a shot at Jay Z, but it’s usually within the confines of a rap song. This time, he hurled the criticism during an interview, which caught Jay’s attention and forced him to respond.

Often times Jay Z will take a I’m-too-big-of-a-rap-star-to-respond-approach, but this time he couldn’t help himself and shot back at Drake in Jay Electronica’s new song We Made It.

“Sorry Mr. Drizzy for so much art talk,” Jay raps. “Silly me, rappin’ ’bout s–t that I really bought/ While these rappers rap about guns that they ain’t shot/And a bunch of other silly s–t that they ain’t got.”

Now it’ll be interesting to see if Drake responds to Jay Z or whether he leaves the comment alone, but either way, both rappers are the talk of the rap world today, because it’s not often that you see two majors artists go at each other like that, especially when they’ve worked together in the past and have alluded to the fact that they’re good friends.

If you remember, Drake and Jay Z collaborated on the song Off That a few years ago, and most recently they worked together on the cut Pound Cake off of Drake’s latest album Nothing Was The Same.

  • Kanye West and Jay Z Partner Up, Again

And just when you thought Kanye West and Jay Z couldn’t get any more famous – or richer – the music moguls have decided to enter a new partnership together.

They’ve already created songs and an album with each other, and even went on a seriously successful joint tour, so what else can they possibly do, you ask?

West’s design and content business, Donda, is to join forces with Jay Z’s Roc Nation. The partnership will focus on West’s international recording brand and his touring ventures.

Named after Kanye’s late mother, Donda was launched in 2009 when West collaborated with Louis Vuitton for a footwear collection. The rapper officially branded the company in 2011 when it designed packaging and other elements for the duo’s Watch the Throne tour.

Watch the pair in action, here:

Donda also designed two versions of West’s Nike Air Yeezy sneakers, and developed two capsule lines with APC. The company is also set to work on West’s upcoming Adidas line, which will hit stores in the fall.

Donda is also credited for designing the album packaging for Lil Wayne’s I Am Not a Human Being II, Pusha T’s My Name is My Name, and 2 Chainz’s Based on a T.R.U. Story. Additionally, Donda made an appearance in Cannes to showcase a visual companion to Cruel Summer, West’s 2012 compilation album.

With all that Donda is known for, don’t be fooled into thinking Roc Nation isn’t pulling its weight. Founded in 2008, Roc Nation has developed into a multi-tier entertainment company. Along with managing artists, songwriters, producers, and engineers, Jay Z’s company also has a film and television division and touring and merchandising branches, and is a record label, music publishing company, and sports agency.

Rihanna, J Cole, Timbaland, Shakira, Santigold, Melanie Fiona, Wale, and Haim, as well as many others, are all represented by Roc Nation.

  • Beyonce’s Partition: It May Be Her Sexiest Video Yet

When Beyonce released her self-entitled visual album at the close of 2013, many noticed a slight change in the singer and in the material she presented.

Prior to the visual album, the pop star had a few risque songs, but for the most part her cuts were fairly tame and focused more on love, relationships, and having a good time.

However, this project is different, as songs like Drunk in Love show a side of Beyonce that we all just got glimpses of, which is sort of a bad girl who doesn’t mind talking about sex in a very direct way.

The best example of this new Beyonce is on the song Partition, which seems to be the next official single from the visual album, since the video is just now going viral.

In the song and video, the 32 year old doesn’t pull any punches when it comes to openly talking about having sex in back of a limousine, and there’s absolutely no subtly in the overall presentation of the video.

It begins with Beyonce sitting across from her significant other at breakfast and it seems she’s having some sort of sexual fantasy about him. From there, the video flashes between performance shots and the singer having a physical encounter with her husband Jay Z, which is why she asks the driver to roll up the partition so he can’t see what’s going on in back of the limo.

And it’s not just the lyrical content and suggestive imagery that makes the video so sexy, Beyonce also sports all types of proactive clothing, including a body-hugging black mini dress and a glittery leotard type of outfit with a thong a bottom. Again, the singer pulls out all of the sexy stops and seems to be totally okay with showing more of her body these days.

Clearly, out of all the songs on the new album Partition is the most in your face, and it doesn’t seem like Beyonce cares anymore about ruffling feathers or losing her image as America’s sweetheart. It’ll be interesting to see if she keeps this new racy image or if she goes back to being a little more tame.

  • Beyoncé and Jay Z’s Grammy Performance: Too Racy?

Beyoncé Jay Z totally turned up the heat in last night’s Grammy performance of “Drunk in Love.”

The 56th annual award show kicked off with the Queen Bey provocatively straddling a chair with her back to the audience showing off her brilliant behind. The star sported a black thong complete with lined panty hose and a sheer bustier. Her hair was cropped and wet, giving off a sexy “Flash Dance” look.

While the song “Drunk in Love” contains a verse for Jay Z, the live Grammy collaboration was only confirmed a few days prior in a CBS commercial.

The performance continued as Beyoncé slithered on top of her chair, rocking her hips and shooting out dangerous glances into the audience. The stage belonged to her and the audience fell victim as well.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-IE7P8AJRxw

Around three minutes into the song, Jay Z charged the stage ready to join his other half. Beyonce stood up, taking her place alongside the chair allowing her husband to take the stage. She danced patiently behind him, careful not to give away too much as he performed.

The audience simply couldn’t stand the chemistry, screaming and chanting for the two who were clearly in love. She was captivated by him just like the audience was by her.

While some people were mesmerized by the opening performance, others were outraged saying the act was just too provocative.

Were you offended by sultry performance or did you view it as just that-as a performance?

  • Jay-Z Thanks God ‘A Little Bit’ For Grammy Award

Holy Grail rapper Jay-Z definitely made a statement last night at the 56th annual Grammy Awards.

The biggest night in music, which was held at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, actually turned out to be a big night for the rapper as well.

However, it wasn’t just a big night for the Roc Nation mogul. His wife, Beyonce also made her presence known, as she and Jay took the stage as the opening act performing her latest hit, “Drunk In Love”.

The collaborative, blowout performance was quite nostalgic as its the first since their “Crazy In Love” performance at the 2003 MTV VMA’s.

While the performance was nothing less than perfection, as he and Queen Bey set the standard for the night, fans were able to catch a glimpse of the rapper’s softer side later in the show.

When the 44-year-old rapper took the stage again to accept the award for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration for “Holy Grail” which featured Justin Timberlake, his acceptance speech was a bit different from his norm.

He sauntered to the stage, playfully throwing fake punches at actor Jamie Foxx, who presented the award. Then, he got down to business.

“Thank you very much, thank you to all the producers and The-Dream, Justin, for writing this song, all the typical things,” the rapper said. He went on to thank God just “a little bit,” and accredited the universe for his union with his wife.

“I want to thank God, I mean, a little bit for this award, but also all the universe for conspiring and for putting that beautiful light of a young lady in my life,” he continued, gesturing with the Grammy gong to Beyonce who watched from the front row.

Then, he added a sweet message to his 2-year-old daughter Blue Ivy. “I want to tell Blue, ‘Look, Daddy got a gold sippy cup for you!’”

The rapper’s “sippy cup” reference immediately became an online sensation as one of Twitter’s biggest trending topics for the night.

In addition to the award for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration for “Holy Grail,” Jay-Z and Justin Timberlake also took home the award for Best Music Video for “Suit and Tie.”

  • Jay-Z Gives Rapping Kid The Chance Of A Lifetime

Jay-Z may have found his softer side since Blue Ivy was born; at a recent show, he allowed a kid to come onstage and show everyone his rap skills after he was spotted holding up a sign asking to do so.

Of course, performing on the spot in front of thousands of people is no small feat and the kid had a few nerves, but he managed to bust out “Clique” like a boss anyway (without the drug references, at Jay-Z’s request).

Afterward, the boy–no doubt emboldened by his fifteen minutes of fame–asked if he could go backstage later to hang with the superstar. And of course, Jay-Z said yes.

  • Justin Bieber Isn’t Retiring, Says Newspaper Source

In a move that seems very typical these days among pop stars, famed singer Justin Bieber said his next album will be his last.

“After the new album, uh, I’m actually, uh, I’m retiring man, I’m retiring,” he revealed to radio personality Big Boy on station Power 106 in Los Angeles. Bieber’s new album “Journals” is scheduled to be released on Dec 23 on iTunes and right after his shocking announcement, news quickly spread around the Internet that he would no longer be recording or doing performances

But not so fast, says a Daily News source, as the New York newspaper revealed that Bieber was just kidding and has no intentions of leaving the music industry.

Announcing one’s retirement isn’t all that uncommon these days for pop artists, as stars like Jay Z, Chris Brown and others have made similar claims, only to release more albums and continue touring. Perhaps Bieber, like other artists, are only trying to build anticipation for their albums and increase sales. Or maybe Bieber was just being a prankster and really had no ulterior motive.

Either way, it’s unlikely the 19-year old star will call it quits, as he’s been a fixture in pop music since his first major release “My World,” in 2009. Plus, he’s been known to communicate with his fans directly through social media, especially when it comes to making major announcements, and there’s nothing on his Twitter account that would suggest that he’s hanging up his microphone.

So if you consider yourself a “Belieber,” which is what the singer calls his fans, there’s probably no need to fret, because it’s unlikely that he’d give up millions of dollars, adoring fans, and additional fame at the age of 19. Well, not unless he wears out his welcome and fans and the music industry push him out, which happens to the best of them.

  • Jay Z Plays Tribute to Nelson Mandela

Jay Z Plays Tribute to Nelson Mandela

Beyoncé wasn’t the only one in the family to honor the late Nelson Mandela. During Jay Z’s concert at the Staple Center in Los Angeles on Dec 9, the rapper dedicated song, “Young Forever” to Mandela.

He took a break before singing to say, “we want to dedicate this song to Nelson Mandela. A great man, spent 27 years in prison, came out to be president. All dreams are possible.”

Jay Z went on to say,”tonight I’m living my dream in front of y’all. So anyone out there who got a dream, y’all chase that motherf—er down as hard as you can.”
