  • Bethenny Frankel Talks Why She Married Jason Hoppy

Bethenny Frankel addressed the NYU Alumni Association’s Speakers on the Square event recently, and shared her thoughts about going with her gut when making important decisions. The talk came around–following a question from an audience member–to her reasons for marrying her now ex-husband Jason Hoppy.

“I think my instinct and gut going into my marriage [knew] it would turn out the way it did. I could feel it, but I intellectualized it. People are always talking about ‘Do I go with my head or my heart?’ Go with your gut,” the Real Housewives of New York star said.

Frankel jokingly blamed Andy Cohen for what was likely one of the biggest mistakes of her life.

“Later on, your Mom likes them, your friends are all getting married, your head gets involved, you love having sex with a person, that’s your heart [or something else] getting involved,” Bethenny Frankel explained. “It’s all Andy Cohen’s fault, he will admit it. And yes, that’s the point. That’s why I wrote the book I Suck at Relationships So You Don’t Have To–because I wasn’t making a decision out of truth, I was making a decision out of fear.”

Does Bethenny Frankel regret that the demise of her marriage played itself out on reality TV?

    Surprisingly, no.

“Looking back on that, I don’t really believe in regret, and it was situation where they were giving me a show–a spin-off–and I was in a relationship and it kind of just became, ‘This is what’s going on in your life, and this is compelling,’ ” she said of her show, Bethenny Ever After. “It was hard for me to compartmentalize.”

“But again, my gut did not like that we were doing a show together. My skin crawls thinking about it. I just did not feel right about it, and I kept saying, ‘I don’t want to be the Tori [Spelling] and Dean [McDermott] show. I don’t want to do this.’ And not because that’s a bad show but just because I just didn’t want to do that, and I didn’t go with my gut. It didn’t cause my divorce or anything, it’s just a whole new s—show that’s more of a s— show because of that.”

While it’s no big surprise to hear Bethenny Frankel talking about her failed marriage to Jason Hoppy, it is intriguing to hear her say she married him out of fear. And when she defines fear as the culmination of outside influences–like her mom liking him–it really does make sense.

How many people do you expect have made similar poor decisions out of the same kind of fear Bethenny Frankel describes?

    The number is likely astounding.

  • Bethenny Frankel Talks Jason Hoppy, Tells Andy Cohen She Won’t Marry Again

Bethenny Frankel had an intriguing chat with Andy Cohen during a recent appearance on Watch What Happens Live, that turned to Jason Hoppy and marriage. The Real Housewives of New York star isn’t yet officially divorced from Hoppy, and she has an interesting perspective on relationships looking forward.

“I will never get legally married again,” Bethenny Frankel told Cohen. “It doesn’t mean that I would not commit to someone, and I’m not jaded or bitter about love. I think there are amazing guys out there, but I will never, ever be legally married again.”

Jason Hoppy and Bethenny Frankel endured a bitter separation and have been battling things out in divorce court since 2012. They were married for three years prior to separating. Even though she never divulged the catalyst of their split, most people assume it has to to with money.

Bethenny Frankel indicated as much during her conversation with Andy Cohen.

“I think that fame and attention and money does not bring out the best in everybody,” she told him. “Money in many ways is the root of all evil.”

She even went so far as to compare marriage to an old Eagles’ song.

“Marriage is the ‘Hotel California,’” she said. “You can check out but you can never leave.”

Bethenny Frankel is currently dating, despite the fact that she’s not yet legally divorced. Hopefully the man in question isn’t interested in settling down–legally, anyway.

E! News disputes the dating scenario, however, reporting instead that Frankel is single. Who knows?

Whether she is or isn’t dating, fans can check up on Bethenny Frankel on Bravo soon when she officially returns to The Real Housewives of New York. The new season premieres on April 7th.

Do you suppose her dating status will be revealed on the show?

  • Bethenny Frankel: Mom Calls Her A Liar

Bethenny Frankel: Mom Calls Her A Liar

Bethenny Frankel and her mom have been estranged for more than a decade now, and it’s abundantly clear that Bernadette Birk isn’t feeling the old ‘absence makes the heart grow fonder’ adage. In fact, she has nothing good at all to say about the former Real Housewives of New York City star.

In a recent interview with RadarOnline, Birk says she is sure she ‘will never speak to her daughter again.’

“Bethenny spread vicious and horrible lies about me simply for publicity,” Birk said, adding, “her ratings were down and they soared!”

“I gave her the benefit of the doubt, and I always left the door open for her, but she destroyed it and now that door is shut forever!” she said.

Bethenny Frankel only loves one person according to her mother. Herself.

“She is so vain, and loves herself so much, that if she even got so much as a scratch she would run and get plastic surgery,” Bernadette Birk says.

It was about two years ago when Bethanny Frankel said similar things about her mother.

“She’s so desperate, it’s really sad,” Frankel said back in March of 2012. “I will never ever speak to her again as long as I live.”

Bernadette Birk has never even met her granddaughter–Bethenny Frankel’s four-year-old daughter, Bryn Hoppy. Frankel co-parents her daughter with ex-husband Jason Hoppy.

Probably the saddest part of this entire scenario is that what each of these women is airing publicly–their obvious disdain for things that happened in the past–should be aired in private conversations, either solely between Bethenny Frankel and Bernadette Birk, or in the presence of a third party–some sort of mediator or counselor.

It does sound like each has aired her dirty laundry for the purpose of publicity.

Do you think Bethenny Frankel is a liar–or is her mom simply jealous of the very public–at times lucrative–life she sees her daughter leading?

  • Bethenny Frankel Embroiled In Bitter Custody Battle With Estranged Husband, Jason Hoppy

Bethenny Frankel and her estranged husband Jason Hoppy are embroiled in a bitter custody battle, and it doesn’t look like they’ll be resolving their issues anytime soon.

According to Entertainment Tonight, the former The Real Housewives of New York City star is seeking primary custody of their four-year-old daughter, Bryn. However, Hoppy has no interest in that particular arrangement, because he’s hoping to have joint custody of the child.

On Wednesday, May 28, the two faced off in a New York City courtroom. Frankel reportedly had no reservations about verbally recounting Hoppy’s alleged intent to seek revenge when she filed for divorce back in January of 2013.

“He said, ‘I’m going to destroy you. I’m going to have you and your publicist crying and crumbling in a corner. Now you’re going to see what I was like on the basketball court,’” Frankel testified. “He said, ‘You don’t know what it’s like to have a family, you’ll never have a family. Let’s go, baby.’”

Both sides argued over who would be the better parent. Hoppy’s attorney, Bernard Clair, even went so far as to accuse Frankel of modeling the main character for her new children’s books after their daughter. Frankel was also accused of using the child for notoriety. However, Frankel’s attorney, Allen Mayefsky, presented the same exact argument, and included a few other allegations about Hoppy.

Mayefsky put the couple’s relationship into perspective with his opening statements. He took the opportunity as a chance to highlight Hoppy’s alleged reason for marrying the former talk show host.

“Jason embraced family life in the spotlight,” said Mayefsky. The attorney also explained a number of changes in Hoppy’s priorities since Frankel filed for divorce. Instead of focusing on the best interest of their daughter, “he puts desire for revenge over his family and child.”

Hopefully the two can come to amicable terms for the sake of their daughter.

  • Bethenny Frankel, Ex Get Into Screaming Match

Bethenny Frankel has seen quite a bit of success with her career in recent years, appearing on “The Real Housewives Of New York”, hosting her own talk show, and managing her Skinny Girl line of alcoholic beverages and retail products. One area that needs some work, however, is her relationship with ex-husband Jason Hoppy.

The former couple allegedly got into a screaming match in front of their daughter Bryn, and Frankel is accused of calling Hoppy “lazy, stupid trash” because he doesn’t have a full-time job. The couple have had issues figuring out a custody arrangement for Bryn, with Hoppy claiming he doesn’t get enough time with his daughter.

When divorce papers were filed back at the beginning of the year, Hoppy fired back with a list of demands, including child support payments from Frankel, medical and dental insurance-related bills, and he also asked for himself and Bryn to be the beneficiaries of a continued life insurance policy for Frankel. Hoppy also wanted to be afforded primary residence at their $5 million home in NYC, and for Frankel to foot the bill for his lawyers and accountant.

Frankel, who has amassed a fortune on her own outside of her family’s money, drew up a pre-nup agreement before the wedding three years ago, so her millions are safe, to an extent.

  • Bethenny Frankel: Divorce Is Getting Ugly

Bethenny Frankel officially filed for divorce from her husband of three years, Jason Hoppy, just a few weeks ago. But Hoppy has now filed “aggressive” divorce papers of his own and is asking for everything she’s asking for, including primary custody of their daughter, Bryn.

Hoppy also wants child support payments from Frankel, medical and dental insurance-related bills, and is asking for himself and Bryn to be the beneficiaries of a continued life insurance policy for Frankel. The new papers are also asking for Hoppy to be afforded primary residence at their $5 million home in NYC. If that’s not enough, he wants Frankel to foot the bill for his lawyers and accountant.

Luckily, Frankel and Hoppy had a prenuptial agreement before they married, so her $100 million fortune is safe. The former “Real Housewives” star has made quite a success of her brand, which includes several books, the Skinnygirl alcohol and clothing line, and a daytime talk show.

Frankel released a statement when divorce loomed imminent, saying, “It brings me great sadness to say that Jason and I are separating. This was an extremely difficult decision that as a woman and a mother, I have to accept as the best choice for our family. We have love and respect for one another and will continue to amicably co-parent our daughter who is and will always remain our first priority. This is an immensely painful and heartbreaking time for us.”

  • Bethenny Frankel Headed For Divorce Court

Former Real Housewife of New York Bethenny Frankel is set to dissolve her marriage to Jason Hoppy, despite an effort on both their parts to make it work.

Frankel announced the couple’s decision to split right before the holidays, issuing a statement which was published in People Magazine.

“It brings me great sadness to say that Jason and I are separating. This was an extremely difficult decision that as a woman and a mother, I have to accept as the best choice for our family. We have love and respect for one another and will continue to amicably co-parent our daughter who is and will always remain our first priority. This is an immensely painful and heartbreaking time for us.”

Frankel, who is rolling in the dough after launching her own mega-successful Skinnygirl line of alcoholic drinks, snacks, and shapewear, also found a loyal fan following for her four best-selling books and reality series, “Bethenny Getting Married” (which later became “Bethenny Ever After”). Some say all that success contributed to a rocky beginning when it came to her marriage to Hoppy.

However, a “source” close to the couple says they simply grew apart.

“…They really tried,” the source said. “They grew apart. She is very upset.”
