  • Peta Mergatroyd Dances Her Way to the Finals

Peta Mergatroyd and partner James Maslow cha-cha-chaed their way to the finals last night on Dancing With the Stars. The blonde stunner and Big Time Rush star hope to earn the coveted Mirror Ball Trophy during the show’s finale on May 20.

Mergatroyd and Maslow impressed the judges by shaking what their mamas gave them to a Michael Jackson tune. Maslow revealed that Jackson is a big inspiration to him, and the show coordinated a meeting between Maslow and famed producer L.A. Reed, who also worked with Jackson.

Maslow took his inspiration to the stage, presenting his own version of Jackson dance move to the judges, who were appreciative of his efforts. They flooded the pair with compliments about the dance, and rewarded them with a perfect score of 40 out of 40.

Just four pairs are left on this Season 18 of DWTS: Candace Cameron Bure and Mark Ballas, Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Meryl Davis, Amy Purdy and Derek Hough, and Maslow and Mergatroyd. It is anyone’s guess who will win.

    Watch the performance, here:

Many have their bets on Davis, an Olympic ice dancer who won gold in Sochi this year. However, the other pairs shouldn’t be counted out. DWTS combines judge’s totals along with fan votes to see who stays and who goes home each episode. Because of the fan factor, the best dancer doesn’t always win. (I’m talking to you, Zendaya.)

Bure has scraped by each week because the fans vote for her to stay. Purdy, a double amputee and paralympian, has amazed judges and the fans with her ability to keep up with the other dancers, although some feel she is only on the show because of the sympathy factor.

Davis is perhaps the best dancer on the show, but Maslow has a fan base that just won’t quit, and the judges seem to adore him.

Here’s what Twitter had to say about the performance:

Tune in next week to find out who is the DWTS season 18 champion.

  • Peta Murgatroyd And James Maslow Dance Contemporary On DWTS

For the most recent live show of Dancing With The Stars (Week 5), ABC’s hit dance/reality show, the star contestants were slated the task of dancing to a well-known song from a Disney movie with their professional dance partners. This gave the pairings of the show more room to be creative, and it was also the week when the star contestants returned to dance with their originally paired pro-dancing partners after last week’s “Switch-up” on the show.

One of the highlights from last night’s Disney-themed Dancing With The Stars was the contemporary dance performed by Aussie-born Peta Murgatroyd and Big Time Rush actor James Maslow. Keeping within the show’s Disney theme, Murgatroyd and Maslow performed their beautiful contemporary dance to Frozen‘s well-known and academy award-winning hit “Let It Go” (performed by Idina Menzel).

Prior to the Dancing With The Stars competition, James Maslow was asked (via video) to go to the prom from a special needs high school student named Hannah. Unfortunately, Maslow was unable to attend Hannah’s prom due to his commitment to Dancing With The Stars; however, as shown in the pre-dance footage, Maslow invites Hannah and her family to be members of the show’s audience for them to watch Murgatroyd’s and his performance in person.

The judging panel praised Murgatroyd and Maslow’s performance to “Let It Go.” All four judges (including guest judge Donnie Osmond) gave rave reviews to the couple. During the judges’ commentary, Head Judge Len Goodman sentimentally stated “That would melt even the coldest heart, even mine.” When Murgatroyd and Maslow received their scores for the dance, the judging panel unanimously showed their 10 paddles, giving Murgatroyd and Maslow a perfect score of 40, which is the first perfect score of Dancing With The Stars season 18.

Also during the judging of Murgatroyd and Maslow’s contemporary dance, guest judge Donnie Osmond commented on Maslow’s “mesmerizing athleticism” during the performance. Prior to the Monday night’s dance, Murgatroyd told People Magazine the following statement in regard to her partner’s stamina:

“I’m super excited about this because of James’ physicality. He’s very strong. I have a lot of lifts in the routine. The songs we have are really emotional, really get to the characters and the meaning behind everything. I can’t wait.”

Many users in the Twitterverse also praised Murgatroyd and Maslowy’s amazing and beautiful performance to Frozen‘s “Let It Go”:
