  • Jackie Siegel: Attorney Defends Taking Pictures of Daughter Victoria Siegel’s Casket

Jackie Siegel of Queen of Versailles fame has come under significant fire since she was spotted taking photos of her daughter’s casket and holding a soft drink cup at her daughter’s funeral.

Victoria Siegel was just 18 when she died–presumably of an overdose–last Saturday while David and Jackie Siegel were away at a wedding. Victoria Siegel was laid to rest earlier this week.

It was Tuesday as Victoria Siegel’s remains were being placed into a hearse that Jackie Siegel was seen either filming or taking snapshots of the casket with her smart phone–a soft drink cup and straw in her other hand.

The New York Post called Jackie Siegel’s actions “strange.”

Significant flack with regard to this scene prompted family attorney Michael Marder to issue a statement about David and Jackie Siegel.

“People deal with grief differently,” he said in the written statement. Mrs Siegel is grieving as we all are. I have been with the family starting from the very first moment they learned of Victoria’s death and I can tell you that she has cried … a lot … and has been on an emotional roller coaster. There is no authoritative manual that tells us how to grieve. The entire family has been sleeping together in the large family room of the house since this horrible tragedy happened. They are talking together, crying together, and caring for and loving each other. The family has been through a terrible tragedy and has been hurt enough, and the way Mrs Siegel is being portrayed by some in the media is just adding additional pain, not only to her, but to the entire family.”

Victoria Siegel suffered from an addiction to prescription meds. She was reportedly a victim of cruel bullying on the day she died. Her parents are considering pressing charges against the bully.

“The Siegel family is devastated and heartbroken by the loss of their beloved Victoria,” Michael Marder said in a previous statement shortly after David and Jackie Siegel learned Victoria had died. “They are hurt, deeply wounded and they are grieving. Victoria was a beautiful spirit with a wonderful smile who was greatly loved and will be deeply missed. Unfortunately she became dependent [on the prescription drugs] and struggled with this condition. She voluntarily underwent rehabilitation and was working hard to address this problem. It is likely that Victoria ingested one or more drugs prior to her death; however we cannot determine at this time whether or not the drugs she took were in fact prescribed medication, something else, or where and how these drugs may have been obtained.”

David and Jackie Siegel set up a fund in memory of Victoria Siegel, the proceeds from which will “help troubled teens get the guidance and assistance they need to live a healthy and positive life.”

No one knows how they might react in the face of losing a child. It’s unfair for those not connected to David and Jackie Siegel to comment on her actions at their daughter Victoria’s funeral.

  • Victoria Siegel: Was She A Victim of Severe Bullying On the Day She Died?

Victoria Siegel, the daughter of Queen of Versailles stars David and Jackie Siegel, was just 18 when she died on Saturday. Now the family’s attorney says she may received some cruel text messages on the morning she died.

Michael Marder, the Siegel’s attorney, issued a statement via Jackie Siegel’s Facebook account.

In it, he talks about the purported actions of an ex-girlfriend of the boyfriend of Victoria Siegel.

“The ex-girlfriend of Victoria’s boyfriend used his phone to send cruel and hateful text messages using the boyfriend’s phone,” Marder said in the statement. “These messages were sent early on the morning of Victoria’s death. These messages were clearly intended to hurt Victoria and while we cannot be sure may have affected her emotional state at a time when she was emotionally vulnerable.”

No cause of death has been determined. Toxicology reports from Victoria Siegel’s autopsy could take several weeks.

Victoria Siegel was laid to rest on Tuesday.

  • Victoria Siegel: ‘Queen of Versailles’ Star Who Died Over Weekend Addicted to Prescription Meds

Victoria Siegel, one of the stars of Queen of Versailles was just 18 when she was found dead in her family’s Florida home this weekend. Now a family representative shares she had long battled an addiction to prescription medication.

“The Siegel family is devastated and heartbroken by the loss of their beloved Victoria, age 18. They are hurt, deeply wounded and they are grieving. Victoria was a beautiful spirit with a wonderful smile who was greatly loved, and will be deeply missed. Victoria had a history of seizures and was prescribed medication for this condition,” family spokesman Michael Marder’s statement reads. “Unfortunately she became dependent and struggled with this condition. She voluntarily underwent rehabilitation and was working hard to address this problem.”

The statement went on to explain that her family was away at a wedding when Victoria Siegel was found by their housekeeper around 2:00 on Saturday afternoon.

“While an autopsy has been performed the cause of death has not been determined. It is likely that Victoria ingested one or more drugs prior to her death, however, we cannot determine at this time whether or not the drugs she took were in fact prescribed medication, something else, or where and how these drugs may have been obtained,” he continued.

The statement adds that the investigation into Victoria Siegel’s untimely death is ongoing and that the family is still awaiting the results of a toxicology report.

“The family is deeply appreciative of the outpouring of support that they have received and request that their privacy be respected while they mourn their loss,” his statement concluded.

Jackie Siegel, the mother of the late Victoria Siegel, announced her daughter’s death via social media on Sunday.

Victoria Siegel’s billionaire parents attempted to build “the biggest house in America,” featuring 13 bedrooms, a movie theater, bowling alley, arcade and roller-skating rink–but the building process was plagued by financial setbacks stemming from the 2009 economic crisis. The home was never completed. The hit film, Queen of Versailles, was based upon the building of this home.

An obituary for Victoria Siegel, published in an Orlando newspaper, described her as a ‘caring soul.’
