  • Shailene Woodley, Joseph Gordon-Levitt Start Filming ‘Snowden’

Shailene Woodley and Joseph Gordon-Levitt were both spotted on location in Washington, D.C. on Monday, when filming began for Snowden. The biopic stars Gordon-Levitt as SNA whistleblower Edward Snowden. Shailene Woodley plays his girlfriend, Lindsay Mills.

Edward Snowden first made headlines back in 2013 for releasing documents detailing two NSA surveillance programs that were authorized by Congress. He strongly believed these programs were impinging on Americans’ freedoms. He has since been granted political asylum in Russia.

Snowden is being directed by Oliver Stone, and in addition to Shailene Woodley and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, also stars Nicolas Cage, Scott Eastwood, Melissa Leo, Zachary Quinto, Tom Wilkinson, Rhys Ifans, Joely Richardson, and Timothy Olyphant.

Woodley and Gordon-Levitt were seen walking by the Washington Monument on Monday.

Shailene Woodley is, of course, known for several award-winning film roles including that of Hazel Grace Lancaster in The Fault in Our Stars and Beatrice “Tris” Prior in Divergent and Insurgent.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt starred on 3rd Rock from the Sun on TV, and has appeared in films including The Dark Knight Rises.

What’s your take on Shailene Woodley and Joseph Gordon-Levitt portraying Edward Snowden and Lindsay Mills in Snowden?

The film is set to hit theaters nationwide on Christmas Day 2015.

  • Shailene Woodley Thinks Bugs Are Tasty and Will Be the Next Big Food Trend

Shailene Woodley has a rather odd idea of what constitutes a yummy meal. At least some might think so.

In Nylon‘s April 2015 cover article, Shailene Woodley revealed that she has quite the appetite for bugs and actually thinks it will be the next big food trend.

Yea, not so sure about that.

Shailene Woodley, 23, has a few other food preferences that might raise some eyebrows, including clay and bone broth, but the bug bonanza might be the strangest.

In a behind-the-scenes video, Shailene Woodley shared her favorite bugs.

“I’ve eaten ants and that was great,” said the Insurgent actress. “And June bugs, that was great. I think the future of food is in insects, so we’ll see what happens.”

She certainly seems to have some affinity with insects because she said she would give just about anything to have the ability to fly.

“If I could,” Woodley mused, “I would grow a pair of wings and fly.”

It her credit, Shailene Woodley is very conscientious about the planet and we could all take some tips from her.

“Everyone could and should do a lot for the planet,” Woodley explained. “I think you should find one small thing that works for you and dedicate and commit to that one thing every single day.”

The Fault in Our Stars actress shared some simple things people could do that, when added up, have a huge impact.

“When you leave the house just unplug your toaster, coffee machine, your TV, which doesn’t need to be on all day.”

She added: “Don’t ask for a straw in a restaurant. Make it a goal not to drink out of plastic as much as possible. Turn the shower off when you’re washing your body and don’t waste the water. There are a lot of small things out there, you just find the one that works for you.”

And although Shailene Woodley works for the planet and women, she does not like to be called actress, environmentalist or feminist.

“The reason why I don’t like to say that I am a feminist or I am not a feminist is because to me it’s still a label,” she explained. “I do not want to be defined by one thing. Why do we have to have that label to divide us? We should all be able to embrace one another regardless of our belief system and regardless of the labels that we have put upon ourselves.”

  • Kate Winslet On Not Being Pregnant During “Insurgent” And Working With Shailene Woodley

Kate Winslet is incredible in Insurgent, the latest in the Divergent film series.

Playing the villain is not easy as it is, but it was really hard for Kate Winslet to do the job in for the last movie because she was pregnant.

And Kate Winslet, no matter how famous or fabulous, is subject to pregnancy brain.

You know what I’m talking about, ladies.

Kate WInslet, 39, said, “It affects your ability to feel like you’re not actually disappearing. I just didn’t feel very together at all, physically or mentally. I don’t have those great, strong, glowing pregnancies.”

Winslet added, “It was really wonderful to be in a position where I did have my brain back.”

It was also apparently wonderful for Kate Winslet to resume working with Shailene Woodley, who has become one of Hollywood’s brightest young stars.

Kate Winslet said of Woodley, “She has values that are very, very important to her and she lives by them 100 percent. That is very unusual. I don’t think I possessed to that extent.”

Kate Winslet, who is famously private, stays away from media of all kinds. In fact, she reportedly goes to extremes to be sure there is very little media at all in her house.

She added, “It’s how I’ve stayed sane. I don’t read reviews. I don’t read magazine articles that I’ve been in. I don’t allow magazines into the home. I just don’t.”

Kate Winslet isn’t the only one bragging on Shailene Woodley lately.

After the announcement that the Insurgent star would be honored this year with MTV’s trailblazer award, President of MTV, Stephen Friedman, said, “Shailene Woodley is one of the most talented actresses of this generation.”

He added, “Whether baring her soul in emotionally charged roles in The Descendants and The Fault in Our Stars or igniting our imagination in sci-fi blockbusters like Insurgent, Shailene has raised the bar for actresses navigating diverse and challenging roles professionally, while personally remaining down-to-earth and accessible to her fans.”

What do you think about Kate Winslet’s words about her pregnancies and her co-star, Shailene Woodley?

  • Shailene Woodley: Why the ‘Divergent’ Actress Almost Said No to the Role of Tris

Shailene Woodley has become a household name thanks to starring roles in movies like The Descendants and The Divergent Series: Insurgent. However, the 23-year-old actress says she originally turned down the role of Tris.

The The Fault in our Stars actress told The Guardian she had misgivings about committing to a multi-film movie franchise.

“I was a little trepidatious saying yes to a franchise, simply because I’d just come off a television show (The Secret Life of the American Teenager) where I had a six-year contract,” Woodley said. “So the thought of signing another four-year contract was quite daunting.”

The award-winning actress, whose breakout role in The Descendent garnered her significant recognition, said she was content performing in lesser-known Indie films and never dreamed of becoming an A-list celebrity.

“Also I had said, growing up as a child actor, that I’d never be a part of a big studio franchise, because I never wanted that sort of recognition around the globe,” Woodley admitted. “I liked doing smaller roles and I really just love acting because I like being on a movie set and that’s it. So I definitely had my doubts, but having said yes, I wouldn’t change it for the world.”

After seeking advice from trusted friends and family, particularly mom Lori, Shailene Woodley ultimately agreed to bring the world the screen version of Tris, the beloved character based on the Divergent series of books.

“I asked advice from a lot of people I respected and ultimately my mom said, ‘Well, Shai, you’re about to say no to this opportunity because of the budget on the film. If this was an independent film, would you say yes?’” remembered Woodley. “And I thought I would say yes, because I love Tris and I do love the storyline and the themes involved within this particular book.”

Divergent went on to make more than $150 million in box office receipts and catapulted Woodley into the realm of megastar.

While the film has changed her life in many ways, Shailene Woodley said her fears about committing to the franchise were unfounded.

“The fear was loss of anonymity in a way, but I really haven’t lost much of my anonymity,” said Woodley. “I can still live the life I’ve been living. I’m busier, but I would love to continue exploring and living this nomadic lifestyle.”

The Divergent Series: Insurgent is scheduled to be released on March 20.

  • Kendall Jenner Joins ‘Divergent’s’ Ansel Elgort for Photo Shoot

Kendall Jenner joined Divergent and The Fault in Our Stars star Ansel Elgort in Venice, California for a photo shoot on Friday. It’s uncertain what or whom the shoot was for. The Keeping Up With the Kardashians star and fashion model was stunning, however, in a black dress with burgundy beaded cutouts on each side.

At one point, Kendall Jenner and Ansel Elgort were joined at the photo shoot by Real Housewives of Beverly Hills stars Gigi Hadid and her sister Bella Hadid. Following the shoot, all four were spotted taking a walk on the beach and snapping photos with a selfie stick. Kendall Jenner changed outfits for their walk on the beach–wearing a short black leather skirt and cropped white top instead.

Later that same evening, Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner enjoyed a quiet night in, and watched The Lorax.

Ansel Elgort is soon headed back to the big screen–this time in the sequel to Divergent. Insurgent premieres in March, with Elgort reprising his role as Caleb, the brother of main character Tris, who is played by Shailene Woodley. Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort played love interests in The Fault in Our Stars. Gigi Hadid was reportedly a big fan.

This is all very good information about the Divergent actor and his fan, but it definitely doesn’t tell anyone why Kendall Jenner was taking part in a photo shoot with him, Gigi Hadid, and her sister.

It seems all other fans will simply have to wait until something involving all of the aforementioned celebrities hits the internet or the pages of a celebrity magazine.

In the meantime, will you check out Ansel Elgort in Insurgent when it premieres in theaters next month?

  • Shailene Woodley: 2014’s Best Haircut?

    Shailene Woodley: 2014’s Best Haircut?

Shailene Woodley had a phenomenal year as an actress. Between The Fault in Our Stars and Divergent, she became a household name. However it is Woodley’s hair that is making news as 2014 draws to a close. MTV reports she had the most important haircut of the whole year.

It was abundantly clear once Woodley was cast in the role of Hazel Lancaster in The Fault in Our Stars that her lengthy locks would have to go. Lancaster was, after all, a cancer patient. It was still a big event for the actress, whose tresses had been long for quite some time.

For weeks following her haircut, Shailene Woodley made front page celebrity news, as she sat in the hairdresser’s chair with tears gracing her cheeks. She emerged sporting a pageboy haircut that flattered her pretty face and fit the role.

Woodley went on to donate her shorn locks to an organization called Children With Hair Loss, and urged her cast mates to consider doing the same thing, too.

Since Divergent was filmed with Shailene Woodley sporting long hair, she feared she would have to wear a wig in the upcoming Insurgent. A conversation with her director resulted in the hairstyle being written in to the film, and no wig for Woodley.

Congratulations to Shailene Woodley for her stellar acting in 2014, and also for being named by MTV as having the best haircut of 2014.
