  • Olivia Wilde Responds To Mean Tweets From Trump Supporters After Criticizing The GOP Candidate

Olivia Wilde has always been outspoken about her political views. Because of this, the 31-year-old actress got involved in a Twitter war with Donald Trump supporters.

The House actress attended a special screening of Robert de Niro’s Ellis, a short film that depicts the hardships immigrants are facing.

Wilde found the film timely and relevant since immigration is one of the hottest issues today. “It made me think of the current refugee crisis,” Wilde said of Ellis to Page Six. She added, “(America) was a beacon of hope for so many… yet some in this country have developed this xenophobia that totally conflicts with what we’re based on.” In her recent interview with Page Six, Wilde pointed out a presidential candidate who promotes xenophobia is “really sickening.”

Although the actress did not mention The Donald in her interview, followers of the GOP candidate knew it was Trump she was referring to.

Trump supporters took to Twitter to criticize Wilde for her views. One supporter tweeted she should go back to where she came from to which Wilde, who has a dual citizenship with Ireland responded: “I will do as you suggest and go back to where I came from… which happens to be NYC so I’m just gonna chill.”

Wilde is vocal when it comes to supporting the Democratic presidential contender Hillary Clinton. She uses social media as her platform for voicing out her political views.  She posted an Instagram photo of herself with Clinton after a campaign in June, and shared her opinion on the email scandal involving Clinton and called it “as scandalous as my grandmother’s recipe for tater-tots”.

Wilde also rebuked critics for the sexist comments being thrown at Clinton. She told Daily Beast that the comment about the presidential candidate not seeming warm enough is “pure misogyny.”

  • Groupon Offers $25,000 Stand-In For Sons On Mother’s Day

    Oh, that Groupon.

The company just announced that for $25,000, it will send one of its employees to your mother’s house in your place on Mother’s Day.

“We recognize that it’s difficult for everyone to make it home for Mother’s Day,” a spokesperson for the company tells us in an email. “As a result, we’re offering the ultimate Mother’s Day experience called ‘A Mother’s Love is Priceless’ where for just $25,000 a perfect child stand-in, who is really a twenty-six year old adult male, will travel to Mom and spend the day with her.”

“Johnny Cadillac, the perfect child, will do all of the things that she has always lovingly nagged you to do such as eat five full servings of vegetables (at once), rinse dishes before placing them in the dishwasher, wear pants and even be nice to your sister,” the spokesperson adds.

This is classic Groupon. If you thought the company’s silly sense of humor went out the door with previous CEO Andrew Mason, you were obviously mistaken.

Can’t Make It Home for Mother’s Day? Groupon Will Send the Perfect Child in Your Place for $25,000 from Groupon on Vimeo.

“While you can’t really put a price tag on hanging out with Mom on Mother’s Day, we think we’ve found the next best solution,” says Cadillac in the press release “I’m incredibly skilled at all of the things Mom has always asked you to do––even though you and I both know they’re for your own good.”

Here’s what the entire “A Mother’s Love is Priceless” experience includes, according to the company:

    • One Groupon employee to fill in for you with your mom on Mother’s Day
    • 16 hours of enthusiastic obedience as your Groupon proxy dotes on your mother and completes common household chores
    • Airfare for your Groupon proxy to travel to your mother’s home (valid only in the continental U.S.)
    • A $5,000 shopping spree for Mom at her favorite local stores
    • A one-day stretch limo rental
    • House-cleaning services
    • A family photo
    • A catered, in-home family dinner for up to six people, including centerpieces, candelabras, linens and food

This all appears to be an attempt to remind consumers that Groupon has actual legitimate deals that might make ideal Mother’s Day gifts. You probably won’t have too hard a time finding those.

  • Netflix Makes Fun Of Apple With ‘Netflix Watch’

Netflix Makes Fun Of Apple With ‘Netflix Watch’

After Amazon unveiled its Prime Air drones in 2013, Netflix released a parody video showcasing its own vision for drones, which would see the devices delivering DVD envelopes.

Now, Netflix has a new video lampooning the Apple Watch:

Like the Netflix drones, the Netflix watch also makes an appearance in the restroom.

I guess Netflix doesn’t envision the Apple Watch or other smart watches as the ideal devices for watching its content. We’ll see if people agree. Apparently they do want the drones.

  • Amazon’s Echo Device Quickly Parodied

On Thursday, Amazon unveiled Echo, its new $200 cylindrical device that listens to you and tells you stuff. Okay, it does more than that, but that seems to be the gist of what most people are taking out of it.

As you might expect, someone has already put out a video parody based on the promo Amazon released. Honestly it’s not really that funny, but I doubt this will be the last one we see. Either way, it already has nearly 70,000 views.

We’ll just have to wait and see if this one draws as much comedic interest as the original promo for Google Glass.

  • Conan Checks In With Minecraft Inventor About Microsoft Acquisition

The big news on Monday was that Microsoft is buying Mojang, the company behind the hugely popular Minecraft, for $2.5 billion.

Naturally, the subject came up on Conan, who checked in with the inventor of the game to see how he’s celebrating:

The actual founders are leaving the company, but Mojang says most of the team will probably stay on board, at least for the time being. It’s worth noting that Microsoft recently announced a massive round of layoffs including many people it brought over from the acquisition of Nokia assets.

  • Channing Tatum Posts Parody Tutorial Video, Learn ‘The Dick Graze’

On Sunday,  Channing Tatum posted a parody video about a new way for men to greet each other. Called “The Dick Graze,” Tatum’s tutorial video features him rapping about the move with the same name, where men are supposed to say hi to each other by lightly touching each other’s private parts in lieu of a handshake or high five.

The viral video was reportedly made to hype up the iTunes release of Tatum’s recent hit movie, 22 Jump Street, which also stars Jonah Hill. E! Online spoke about the video with Tatum at the premiere of his latest movie Foxcatcher at the 2014 Toronto Film Festival on Monday.

“It was just something fun for us to do. We were messing around on the [22 Jump Street] set in Puerto Rico. It was just crazy. I don’t really have anything to tell about it other than it’s very stupid,” said Tatum.

    ‘The Dick Graze’

The video also features his co-star on 22 Jump Street, Jillian Bell. She in turn raps about the female version of “The Dick Graze,” which involves lightly touching other women’s breasts as a greeting. “Let me tell you how we say what’s up with our lady bits / I start feenin’ when I see my girl sleepin’ / ‘Cause my hand’s about to have a booby meeting!” she raps. The hilarious parody video ends with Tatum getting hurt by Bell after all the fun and games.

Tatum’s wife, Jenna Dewan-Tatum, has also been opening up to the press, this time about her family’s private life at home. She recently revealed in an interview on Live With Kelly And Michael that she and her husband liked walking around the house in the nude. “We don’t like clothes a lot, period. Especially when you have a baby and you’re breastfeeding,” she said.

However, she clarified that she and Tatum weren’t “that exciting.” She added, “We don’t have dance-offs and we’re not naked all the time.”

  • Alibaba IPO Gets The NMA Treatment

Alibaba IPO Gets The NMA Treatment

Next Media Animation is at it again. The Taiwanese animators have released this video depicting a predictably insane take on the Alibaba IPO. It involves a giant panda, some puppies, and a genie.

The company filed for the IPO earlier this week. It’s said to be the largest ever for a tech company.

The Chinese e-commerce giant dominates mobile commerce in that country, accounting for a reported 76% of all sales and roughly 136 million monthly active users. It detailed its financial performance for the first nine months of its fiscal year 2013, which includes revenue of $6.51 billion and net income of $2.85 billion.

You can find the filing here.

Alibaba expects to sell about 12% of its shares, which means that the IPO could generate around $20 billion, according to reports.

  • ‘Danzig Getting Knocked Out’ Is Still Recommended Viewing Like A Decade Later

Roughly a decade ago, a famous video hit the web featuring Glenn Danzig getting knocked out by the guy from the Northside Kings. If you’re reading this article, you’re probably familiar with it or have at least heard of it.

A couple years ago, the guy that punched him talked to Vice about it.

Now, Danzig is in the news because he’s suing former bandmate Jerry Only over some lame Misfits merchandise that Danzig never signed off on (they had an agreement that all merch would require the approval of both men).

Anyway, Danzig enthusiasts (yes, my dog is named after him), who see stories about him on Facebook, for example, are still being encouraged to view this classic piece of Internet nostalgia.

A lesson in how your reputation on the Internet follows you for a really long time.

It doesn’t help when Google returns images like this for a simple name search either.

The knockout video somehow manages to stay off the first page of search results, though Google does treat searchers to a video called “Glenn Danzig is an Asshole” as the sixth organic result.

  • Derek (Of The Netflix Original) Has A New YouTube Guide

If you’ve watched Derek, the Ricky Gervais Netflix Original, you know that the titular character loves YouTube videos – particularly videos of animals and songs.

The Ricky Gervais Channel has just released Derek’s Guide to YouTube. It’s over seven and a half minutes long, so it’s extensive. Enjoy.

Earlier this week, Netflix released a trailer for the second season, which debuts on May 30th (it’s already started on Channel 4 in the UK):

It looks like it’s being pretty well received in the UK:

  • Matt Cutts Gets New ‘Melody’ Treatment

    Okay, this exists.

This comes from HighPosition.com. I randomly came across it on StumbleUpon, and it hardly has any views yet, so let’s change that. If you watch Matt Cutts’ videos regularly, you owe this one to yourself.

You can watch it in a more theatrical setting here.

And don’t forget to check out the Matt Cutts Donkey Kong and Whack-a-Mole games. Oh, and of course this classic:

Wow, it just dawned on me that we’ve been covering these Matt Cutts video for an absurdly long time.

    Yelp Introduces The Yelpulus Rift

Remember that Netflix video parodying Amazon’s famous drone video? It looks like Yelp tried to do something similar, making light of Facebook’s Oculus acquisition.

Yelp says in the video description, “For Yelp’s Hackathon 13, this team of engineers imagined what a virtual reality experience of Yelp Monocle would look like. Not all Hackathon projects have to be based on real, feasible products, as evidenced by this team’s creativity with duct tape and a little video editing skills.”

If you’re unfamiliar with Yelp Monocle, it’s an augmented reality feature that uses a phone’s GPS to overlay markers on top of businesses on the phone’s camera view.

  • ‘Cancel Colbert’ Is Your Daily Dose of Dumb Twitter Outrage

In people clearly not understanding the basic idea of satire nor differentiating between network and personal Twitter accounts news, Twitter’s all fired up over a joke made by Comedy Central’s Colbert Report Twitter account.

And by “joke,” we mean a reference to a previously aired bit.

The tweet has since been deleted, but here’s a screenshot (with some added commentary):

“I am willing to show #Asian community I care by introducing the Ching-Chong Ding-Dong Foundation for Sensitivity to Orientals or Whatever,” read the tweet.

The hashtag #CancelColbert has been trending all day, with some tweets expressing anger over the “offensive” joke tweet, and others expressing the sheer lunacy of the former.

The outrage seems to have stemmed from (or at least has been centered on) Twitter user Suey Park. Taking a trip through her recent Twitter activity not only shows her disdain for the Colbert tweet, but also highlights the incredibly rude and racist vitriol being spit in her direction.

Before we get into any discussion on the merits or lack thereof over outrage at the tweet, it’s important to distinguish between the Colbert Report Twitter account and Stephen Colbert’s personal Twitter account. The former made the tweet, not the latter–a point which both Stephen Colbert and the Colbert Report accounts were quick to point out:

Also, the tweet in question is actually just a rehash of a bit Colbert did earlier in the week. Check out the full segment below:

Ok guys, the point here really isn’t whether or not you thought to “joke” was funny, offensive, or whatever. The point is not even that it wasn’t Colbert making the tweet. The point is that this sort of comedy–ratcheting up ridiculous discourse to the nth degree, thus rendering it completely innocuous–is what Stephen Colbert has been doing for years. Though some might argue that it’s not innocuous, you have to remember than Colbert plays a character on his show–a xenophobic, pompous caricature of the ugly American.

Nobody watching the clip from where the tweet comes could honestly say that they feel Stephen Colbert (the actual person) or Comedy Central actually supports this. The tweet was taken out of context, and if anything was just a dumb move that Comedy Central should have seen coming.

Oh, there’s also the fact that it’s comedy. As Louis C.K. said when defending Tracy Morgan against backlash for a so-called offensive joke, “He was on a comedy stage, not at a pulpit.”

If this tweet and The Colbert Report segment from which it’s derived is terribly offensive to you, I really hope you don’t go back and watch old episodes of The Colbert Report. You’re not going to like what you find.

And on a final note, people need to stop spewing bullshit at people on Twitter for expressing their views. This is why we can’t have nice things, people.

You’re not a comedian, and that’s not satire. You’re just an asshole.

  • Goat Simulator Launch Trailer Parodies Dead Island

Dead Island was one of the biggest disappointments of 2011. The game itself wasn’t bad – it was actually quite good. The disappointment came from how amazing the debut trailer was compared to the final game. Well, one of the most anticipated games of 2014 has recreated Dead Island’s debut trailer and I have a feeling the final game won’t disappoint.

Goat Simulator – the PC game born from a game jam and the Internet’s hopes and dreams – now has a launch trailer to go with its release date of April 1. Just like in the Dead Island trailer, we see a goat lying on the ground as it cuts back to previous events featuring the goat getting into all kinds of mischief and mayhem. While it’s not exactly heart breaking, it’s a perfect parody.

Alongside the trailer, the game also has this new warning:

Disclaimer: Goat Simulator is a completely stupid game and, to be honest, you should probably spend your money on something else, such as a hula hoop, a pile of bricks, or maybe pool your money together with your friends and buy a real goat.

Goat Simulator may be a completely stupid game, but it has captured our hearts. There’s just something incredibly appealing about destroying stuff as a goat. There’s no doubt in my mind that Goat Simulator will be one of the best selling games on Steam when it launches April 1.

  • Arnold Schwarzenegger Dons Apron At ‘The Tonight Show’ With Jimmy Fallon

It’s not every day that one gets to see The Terminator in an apron, but that’s just what Arnold Schwarzenegger did when he appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on March 24.

The 66-year-old actor dropped by the show to promote his new movie Sabotage, which opens in theaters on March 28. Fallon started with casually telling Schwarzenegger that he could have sworn he had seen the actor on QVC, the television network that specializes in home shopping.

    Sabotage trailer

Schwarzenegger admitted it was a possibility. Though it sounds unusual, when he sees a product that he really loves, he wants get behind the product and be part of the action—selling it, marketing it, “the whole thing—that’s just me,” he said. At this point Fallon expressed a keen interest: enter the skit.

The skit was a spoof of a QVC show and was titled Now We’re Cookin’ With Zach Striker, in which Fallon played the titular host and Schwarzenegger was a guest. The skit also featured a couple of the actor’s iconic movie lines. Fallon—as Zach—introduced the actor as “a renowned foodie” and a guy “who really knows his way around the kitchen—Arnold Schwarzenegger!”

“It’s good to be here, Zach,” said Schwarzenegger in greeting.

“What would you say if I told you that we have not one but two products here today?” Fallon said.

“I would say, ‘Wow!’ This is really incredible. What are they?” replied Schwarzenegger.

“Zach” answered that they had two: a blender and a vegetable chopper. Fallon started discussing the blender’s fine qualities, and how it is the perfect product to make milkshakes and other cold beverages: “you name it, that’ll blend it.”

“We all know that it’s a blender, now let’s get to the chopper,” suggested Schwarzenegger—but Zach wasn’t finished. He continued to rave about the blender’s “high-octane features.”

“We know what the blender does, but let’s get to the chopper,” insisted Schwarzenegger, looking quite impatient now.

  • Now There’s A Matt Cutts Whack-A-Mole Game

    Now There’s A Matt Cutts Whack-A-Mole Game

So remember that Matt Cutts Donkey Kong game from a few weeks ago? That has inspired a new Matt Cutts Whack-A-Mole game, in which (you guessed it) you get to whack Matt Cutts with a gavel over and over again.

A number of fun quotes from Cutts play in the background while you whack.

This one comes from LoveMyVouchers, which says on its site:

Inspired by Donkey Cutts, which was recently created by NetVoucherCodes, we decided to have a go at making our own game in order to help out frustrated webmasters and SEOs everywhere. As Matt Cutts himself said recently in an interview, “You never want to play whack a mole with a spammer”, and this got us thinking that there must be many people out there who would like to play whack a mole with him.

What with the constant influx of updates from Google these days and a constantly shifting set of rules to play by, running and promoting your website is becoming more and more difficult. However, this light-hearted flash game should help to reduce your stress levels, if only for a minute or two.

    Matt even played it himself:

    Have fun.

Personally, I’m waiting for someone to take dino-Cutts and make a Rampage-style game.

  • Here’s Netflix’s Answer To Amazon’s Drones

It seems a little late for a parody of Amazon’s drone video from December, but Netflix has one out. It was uploaded a week ago by Netflix’s Paul Johnson (for some reason not yet on the company’s official YouTube channel), but it’s just starting to get some attention thanks to Hacking Netflix.

“Here at Netflix, we’re committed to cutting edge advancements in entertainment,” says Hank breeggemann, GM of Netflix’s DVD Division, in the video. “From revolutionizing the home video rental market to our industry-leading streaming service with award-winning content. Now we’re getting back to our creative roots with our groundbreaking same-day home delivery subscription service ‘Drone 2 Home’.”

“That’s right,” he continues.”Our fleet of high-tech drones will deliver your disc to you within mere seconds of you adding it to your queue. Unlike other companies trying to rush unproven technology to market, we have literally spent days working out most of the bugs. By enabling location services on your smartphone, the disc can come right to you, wherever you may be.”

The end of the video shows the DVD.Netflix.Com brand the company recently announced with its latest earnings report.

According to Engadget, the video was produced for the Netflix DVD division’s annual meeting.

  • Conan O’Brien Discusses Turning Down Microsoft CEO Job On LinkedIn

Conan O’Brien Discusses Turning Down Microsoft CEO Job On LinkedIn

Conan O’Brien took to LinkedIn to explain why he turned down the Microsoft CEO job, which was recently awarded to longtime staffer Satya Nadella.

This is Conan’s fifth LinkedIn post since becoming a “LinkedIn Influencer” last fall.

Conan congratulates Nadella on his new role, telling him he was “the right second choice.” He continues:

Sure, the Microsoft board never technically asked me to be their CEO. I did, however, get a tweet from Bill Gates once. So, you do the math. That is why I was proactive, as business visionaries often are, and sent a very nice “thanks, but no thanks” note with an Edible Arrangement to their Redmond, Washington campus.

The complete lack of any response to my flat-out rejection of their non-offer spoke volumes. One day, I’m sure they’ll get over it.

It would have been easy to run a scrappy start-up like Microsoft. As easy as booting up Windows ‘98 on my Compaq Presario and winning a game of Minesweeper.

Turning Microsoft back into an industry titan like Wang or Commodore would have required a simple three point action-plan: 1. Zune 2. More Zune 3. Even More Zune.

He goes on to say that he would have spent hundreds of millions marketing to get everyone in America to “‘Bing their symptoms’ after that weekend trip to Jaurez’ and would add a new “Tiny Windshield WIpers” peripheral device to Surface purchases. Also, all versions of Windows would come with Scarlett Johnansson’s voice, and Excel would have built-in Instagram filters.

It’s nice to see that after about four months, Conan’s still having fun with LinkedIn, where he has so far amassed 132,661 followers. He’s got a ways to go to catch Richard Branson, whom LinkedIn plasters all over just about everything.

  • Goat Simulator Is Now A Reality Thanks To The Internet

Last month, Coffee Stain Studios, makers of Sanctum and Sanctum 2, shared a short alpha gameplay video of an experiment they called Goat Simulator. Quite frankly, it was one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen. The Internet agreed and demanded that it be turned into a real game. We can be thankful that developers tend to listen to the Internet on matters of importance.

Coffee Stain Studios announced today that Goat Simulator will be coming to Steam soon for the super low price of $10. They’re also opening pre-orders via the game’s Web site for early buyers to get three days of exclusive access before it launches on Steam.

If you’re just joining us, you may be a little confused as to what Goat Simulator is. Here’s the official synopsis from the developers:

Goat Simulator is like an old school skating game, except instead of being a skater, you’re a goat, and instead of doing tricks, you wreck stuff. It brings next-gen goat simulation to YOU. WASD to write history.

Now that I think about it, the above description really doesn’t do it justice. Here’s a gameplay trailer:

  • ‘House Of Cards’ Season 2 Gets A Lot More Dog Murder In This Parody

The Unlikely Allies YouTube channel has released a new House of Cards: Season 2 parody, featuring an intro from executive producer fake David Fincher and fake Netflix CEO Reed Hastings, explaining how they used Season 1’s audience viewing habits to construct the second season.

As you may know, House of Cards itself was conceived based on Netflix viewing habits. The company knew it could gain an audience thanks to data on Kevin Spacey films and political dramas, for example.

“What was truly revolutionary was the platform,” explains fake David Fincher.

“Releasing all the episodes at once on Netflix enabled us unprecedented access into our audience’s viewing habits,” says fake Hastings. “We know when they’re watching, for how long…we even know when they pause or rewind.”

“And people overwhelmingly chose to repeat the scene in episode one where Frank Underwood murders a dog,” says fake Fincher.

“And Netflix listened,” adds fake Hastings. “We ended up with a Season 2 that stayed true to the gritty political drama that was Season 1 while adding all the dog murder that our audiences apparently couldn’t get enough of.”

Behold the dog murder-filled trailer for House of Cards Season 2:

  • Old Spice Commercial: “Mom Song” is a Hit on YouTube

Old Spice Commercial: “Mom Song” is a Hit on YouTube

Old Spice released a new commercial during the AFC Wild Card game between San Diego and Cincinnati on Sunday, and to the dismay of some folks, the commercial didn’t feature the familiar face of Isaiah Mustafa from “The Man Your Man Could Smell Like” commercials. Instead, Old Spice went a different route and debuted the “Mom Song” commercial. The commercial has been very successful after being uploaded to YouTube and has reached almost 1.5 million views so far.

Since Old Spice has a reputation for being more for older men, the company attempts to appeal to a younger age bracket with the “Mom Song” commercial by suggesting that teenage boys who use Old Spice will become men. “I didn’t see it coming, but it came in a can, my sweet son sprayed into a man,” one mom said in the commercial as her son left to go on a date.

According to the commercial, the body spray is so successful at turning boys into men that it has moms everywhere are freaking out, and we aren’t talking your run-of-the-mill “My little boy is all grown up…time to down a pint of ice cream” freaking out, either. The commercial shows moms weeping and going into stalker mode while checking up on their sons. We see everything from a mom clinging to the bumper of her son’s car to one mom hiding under couch cushions while her son is making out with his date.

Check out the full Old Spice “Mom Song” video below.

As you can see below, the Twitter response to the video was mixed. Was Old Spice’s “Mom Song” video just the right amount of funny or was it too over the top for you? Add your thoughts on the commercial in the comments section below.
