  • Meg Ryan In For “How I Met Your Dad”, Develops NBC Pilot

Meg Ryan is making headlines this week after it was reported that she’ll have a role on the How I Met Your Mother spinoff How I Met Your Dad. The actress won’t appear on the show, however, but will instead voice Sally, who will be played by Greta Gerwig. Ryan will portray Sally in the future.

Gerwig commented on the How I Met Your Mother finale recently–which angered many fans–and said she actually wanted a different outcome for the characters.

“I wanted [Ted and Robin] to [end up together]! I’m such a schmaltzy person. It’s like, yes, I know that Annie Hall is the best ending of all time when they don’t end up together. But really, in my heart of hearts … I love in When Harry Met Sally when they end up together. I’m a little too corny for the sadder version,” she said.

Ryan is also set to star in and executive produce a show in development for NBC. The new series is being written by Marc Lawrence (Family Ties) and will see Ryan’s character–a single mother and former editor at a New York publishing house–return to her old job only to find that her former intern is now her boss.

Though Ryan has worked on several projects in recent years, she has kept her schedule open for the sake of her adopted daughter, Daisy. The duo were spotted out recently with Ryan’s beau, rocker John Mellencamp.

  • ‘How I Met Your Mother’ Spin-Off Casts a New Lead

The How I Met Your Mother spin-off, How I Met Your Dad, decided to replace an actress even before they filmed the pilot episode. Merely a day after this decision, they have hired her replacement.

Yesterday, news broke that Krysta Rodriguez was exiting the series after only doing a table read. Deadline cites that the casting change was due to wanting to take the character in a new direction. Originally, Juliet, played by Rodriguez, was described as being “a sexy, flamboyant force of nature who runs the most successful fashion blog in the country.” She acts as a “kindred spirit” to her best friend Sally played by Greta Gerwig. Before getting cast in How I Met Your Dad, Rodriguez appeared in the short-lived NBC musical-series Smash.

Today the How I Met Your Dad team announced that they already found Rodriguez’s replacement. Tiya Sircar will now take on the role of Juliet. With the casting change, also comes the change in Juliet’s workplace.

Sircar recently wrapped up shooting an upcoming guest role on CBS’s The Crazy Ones. Her character Allie will be an assistant to Sarah Michelle Gellar’s character Sydney and a love interest to Hamish Linklater’s character Andrew.  Additionally, she played a lead role in the Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson comedy The Internship, appeared on Lifetime’s Witches of East End, Disney’s The Suite Life on Deck, and the CW’s The Vampire Diaries.

How I Met Your Dad exists in the same world and has a similar tone to How I Met Your Mother. How I Met Your Dad follows Sally, a “Peter Pan” like character who just ended her marriage after only a year.  As she attempts to grow-up and navigate life, Sally seeks support from her solid group of New York friends. The How I Met Your Dad cast also includes Drew Tarver, Nick D’Agosto, Andrew Santino, and Anders Holm.

  • Krysta Rodriguez Exiting ‘How I Met Your Dad’

Actress Krysta Rodriguez is leaving How I Met Your Dad just days before production for the pilot is set to begin, Entertainment Weekly reported Tuesday.

The Smash star was cast to play one of the leads in CBS’ How I Met Your Mother spin-off. She was to play the sexy, flamboyant fashion blogger best friend of Greta Gerwig’s lead Mother character, named Sally. After a table read, producers decided Rodriguez was not working out.

In the vein of the original series, How I Met Your Dad tells the story from a female point of view, that of Sally, and revolves around a new group of friends in New York. Sally’s character is described as a “female Peter Pan who has never grown up and has no idea of where she’s going in life. She has just figured out that she has nothing in common with her husband of less than a year, and will find a solid circle of support in her friends and family.”

How I Met Your Dad‘s three male leads are played by Drew Tarver, Nick D’Agosto and Andrew SantinoThe pilot, from 20th TV, was written by Emily Spivey and How I Met Your Mother creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas. Rob Greenberg is directing.

Rodriguez is best known for her roles in TV’s Smash. The singer and actress has appeared in a number of Broadway shows, including In the Heights. She originated the role of Wednesday Addams in The Addams Family Musical on Broadway in 2010, and most recently starred in First Date the Musical in 2013.

  • Cristin Milioti Has Been Chosen To Star In NBC Pilot “A To Z”

While she does not have a recognizable name to most people yet, Cristin Milioti has probably been seen by many people already. After receiving a small but iconic role in the CBS comedy How I Met Your Mother as “The Mother,” she has landed a role in an upcoming NBC show.

She will be the star of A To Z, a show that is being produced by Rashida Jones, who is known for playing Ann Perkins on the hit NBC comedy Parks And Recreation. Jones will executive produce the show along with Will McCormack, and Ben Queen, who also wrote the pilot.

After eight seasons of anticipation, it was finally unveiled that Cristin Milioti would be playing Mrs. Ted Moseby.

How I Met Your Mother will finally be wrapping up its ninth and final season on March 31st, and will make way for a spin-off series titled How I Met Your Dad.

The show has yet to announce the name of her character on the show, and Milioti has admitted that even she has no idea what her name is.

The spin-off recently cast Greta Gerwig as the star, who has been gaining momentum from the success of her last film, Frances Ha.

The new comedy A To Z will follow the relationship of a young couple, Andrew and Zelda, from the time that they meet until their breakup. Milioti will play Zelda, a lawyer at a small, public advocacy firm who is the realist in the relationship.

According to the casting description, “Alternately serious and hilarious, Zelda loves being a grown-up and doesn’t understand why anyone over 20 would go see an animated movie or eat ice cream sundaes. Destiny and fate are not in her vocabulary; she believes she controls her own destiny.”

In addition to How I Met Your Mother, Crisitn Milioti had a role in The Wolf Of Wall Street, and has appeared in select episodes of other popular shows such as 30 Rock and Nurse Jackie. She also earned a Tony nomination for her role in the Broadway adaptation of Once.

While she only had the opportunity of being on How I Met Your Mother for one season, Cristin Milioti has already landed her next gig.

  • Greta Gerwig Will Star As The Mother In “How I Met Your Mother” Spinoff

How I Met Your Mother has captivated audiences for nine seasons now, and on March 31st, the show will be departing. However, a new show called How I Met Your Dad will be starting, and Greta Gerwig will play the lead role.

The new show will be similar to How I Met Your Mother, although it will be told from the female perspective. Midway through the current season of How I Met Your Mother, CBS announced that a spin-off would be happening.

The cast will be completely new, although the bar McClaren’s that the characters have hung out in for the past nine seasons will stay with the new show. It will be brought to audiences by Carter Bays and Craig Thomas, who were the creators and executive producers of How I Met Your Mother.

Greta Gerwig will also serve as an executive producer for How I Met Your Dad. Her previous film credits include Greenberg, To Rome With Love, and a handful of other comedies. The indie actress will also star in the upcoming romantic comedy Maggie’s Plan.

Greta Gerwig has been enjoying great success like never before in the past year with the help of her film Frances Ha. She co-wrote the film with her husband Noah Baumbach, who also directed it, and to everyone’s surprise, she was nominated for a Golden Globe for her role in the film.

She said she could not believe that she was nominated and swore that they must have made a mistake following her nomination. Gerwig was nominated for Best Actress In A Musical Or Comedy, but eventually lost to Amy Adams for her role in American Hustle.

In describing the role that Greta Gerwig will play in the upcoming sitcom, CBS made a statement saying that she will portray “a female Peter Pan who has never grown up and has no idea of where she’s going in life. She has just figured out that she has nothing in common with her husband of less than a year. A break-up is inevitable, but Sally will find a solid circle of support in her friends and family, who are often too willing to give ‘good’ advice that can backfire badly. Meanwhile, Sally must filter out the input and decide what’s best for her.”

How I Met Your Dad is one of the most anticipated spin-off series’ after following its predecessor that starred Josh Radnor, Cobie Smulders, Alyson Hannigan, Neil Patrick Harris, and Jason Segel. However, some people also feel that the show has simply gone on long enough, and that a spin-off is unnecessary.

Greta Gerwig is a bit of a surprising choice for the role since she has come to be known as a indie filmmaker and actress, and has never been the face of a prime-time television show before. If the new show lasts anywhere near as long as How I Met Your Mother, she will be stuck with the gig for a long time.

  • Lorraine Bracco Joins Fox’s “Mulaney”-Find Out who else Inked Major TV Deals this week

Several series, still in pre-production, landed A-list stars to head their upcoming pilots. Other TV programs gained perfectly-casted guest stars for their next season. Looking back on the week, these are the biggest casting reveals in television news.

David Schwimmer plans a television comeback. He will star in Irreversible, an upcoming ABC comedy pilot. This is his first major television starring role since Friends, which ended ten years ago. Schwimmer plays Andy, one-half of a self-absorbed couple. Irreversible is based on a hit Israeli series called Bilti Hafich. The series will partly rely on improv comedy, like Curb Your Enthusiasm.

Season 2 of NBC’s Hannibal just got a bit more devious. Michael Pitt has been cast as Mason Verger; Fans of the movies and books are already quite familiar with the role. In the 2001 Hannibal movie, Gary Oldman played an older version of the character. Verger is an unstable wealthy patient of Dr. Hannibal. The two characters have a cat and mouse type relationship. Pitt won’t make his debut on Hannibal until later in the second season. His last major television role was on HBO’s Boardwalk Empire. Canadian actress Katharine Isabelle was also recently cast as Verger’s sister Margot. She is best known for playing Ginger in the Ginger Snaps horror movies-a cult favorite.

Penny Marshall and Lorraine Bracco are about to become one funny lesbian couple. Both actresses have been cast in Fox’s upcoming series Mulaney. • How I Met Your Mother Gets A Spinoff

How I Met Your Mother Gets A Spinoff

As any fan of the show that has now lasted for 9 seasons knows, How I Met Your Mother will be coming to an end at the end of the current season.

As a result, and to some fans delight, CBS has decided to make a spin-off to the series, and it will be called How I Met Your Dad.

How I Met Your Mother is a wildly succesful comedy that has enjoyed a long run on CBS, and stars Josh Radnor as Ted, along with Alyson Hannigan, Jason Segel, Neil Patrick Harris, and Cobie Smulders.

In order to keep with the theme of the original show, it seems like How I Met Your Father would make more sense, but in any case, the show has been given the go-ahead by CBS, and they made a deal after only two weeks of negotiations with 20th Century Fox for a pilot order. After 9 years, and a mother finally being revealed in the season 8 finale, the show is finally coming to an end.

With the title, the new show will of course feature a female’s perspective, and the new show will come from Carter Bays and Craig Thomas, who were the creators and executive producers of How I Met Your Mother. It will still follow a similar plot-line, with a dragged out plot that will one day introduce a couple of kids to their dad, who the audience is never aware of.

Some people feel that How I Met Your Mother has already went on for too long, and clearly would not support a spinoff, but other fans continue tuning in, making it hard to tell how the spin-off would fare.

Do you watch How I Met Your Mother? Would you watch a spin-off of the series? Weigh in with your thoughts.

The new show unfortunately will not have any of the same cast members as How I Met Your Mother, but the show will have a brand new story and narrator. However, the two stories will be linked by the gang’s favorite hang out and bar, McClaren’s that everyone has seen them drinking in for the past 9 seasons.

Most fans would certainly welcome the new show, since How I Met Your Mother continues to draw in audiences, and remains to be CBS’ highest-rated Monday series, and the second-highest-rated overall behind The Big Bang Theory.
