  • David Letterman Announces Retirement

The announcement is sad but true.

David Letterman will be retiring from hosting Late Night With David Letterman. The somewhat surprising news was announced during a taping of his show today.

The final episode of Late Night will air sometime in 2015.

“I just want to reiterate my thanks for the support from the network, all of the people who have worked here, all of the people in the theater, all the people on the staff, everybody at home, thank you very much,” the 66-year-old said after breaking the news to his audience.

Letterman is the longest serving late night host in television history.

Celebrity fans broadcasted their thoughts to Twitter in response to Letterman’s decision to leave Late Night.

Witty writer and actress Lena Dunham dedicated three tweets to Letterman. As usual, they were fairly entertaining.

It’s believed that the longtime host made the decision to leave so he could spend more quality time with his family.

Jimmy Fallon recently took over Jay Leno’s hosting spot on the Tonight Show after he finally decided to retire. While we’re all digging Fallon’s goofy antics, it’s hard to imagine someone else filling in for Letterman.

Who do you think Letterman will choose to fill his late night shoes? Does Jimmy Kimmel have a shot at the gig?

Leave your comments below and stay turned for more updates on who will be chosen for the coveted spot.

  • Neil Patrick Harris Gets Ready To Host The Emmys

Neil Patrick Harris is getting ready to host the Emmy Awards again this year and the stage is being set, as the show gets underway this Sunday. Harris has hosted both The Emmys and the Tonys before and has plenty of experience in the position. Many people probably know him as a child star from his days on Doogie Houser, M.D. and recently on the popular CBS comedy, How I Met Your Mother.

He has been rehearsing plenty for the show and is very excited to be able to share the dance routines that he has worked out with the audience. The show will be held at the Nokia Theater in downtown Los Angeles, according to CBS News. The show will honor the best of the best in television and made for TV movies. Some of the biggest awards of the night include Best Drama and Best Comedy, along with the main actors that go along with the comedy and drama shows.

The Best Drama category is always one of the biggest when it comes to any award show involving television or film. This year, it is filled with old favorites that fans have loved for a long time, including Breaking Bad and Mad Men, but also Homeland, which is getting ready to start its third season soon and House Of Cards, a Netflix original show that aired its first season this year. The full list of nominees can be seen here

Netflix recently started streaming shows that are shown exclusively on the platform that are only available to Netflix subscribers. While a large number of people already use Netflix, this business venture could work to get more users as well, compared to people that might subscribe to HBO in order to watch a few particular shows. In addition to House Of Cards, which stars Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright, several other shows are being picked up by Netflix as well. Neil Patrick Harris has expressed great interest in the subject as well and is curious to see how these shows will do at the awards. He said “I think it’s really interesting to see how that’s going to shape the way we watch television. It questions commercials. It questions programming.”

The awards are just a few days away now, and Harris is busy at work and working hands-on in order to help put the show together. His work in helping produce and host awards has even earned him an award, a Creative Arts Emmy, which he was awarded last Sunday for being the executive producer of last year’s Tony Awards, mentions the Minneapolis Star Tribune. The Tribune goes on to say that Harris won’t say whether he’ll perform any tricks during the ceremony, but promises “a lot of exciting things that have never happened before.” There is also a special musical tribute to Liberace that is to be performed by Elton John.

Tune in this Sunday, September 22, at 8 PM, and catch the full show.

  • Carson Daly Joins NBC’s Today Show

Carson Daly Joins NBC’s Today Show

After 11 years in late-night television, talk-show host Carson Daly is trading his midnight rendezvous to become the early bird that catches the worm. NBC has announced that Daly will join Today along with Matt Lauer and Savannah Guthrie. He will serve as the digital studio host/social media correspondent for the new Orange Room digital space.

The Orange Room is a new segment that has been implemented into the Today show. The “first-of-its-kind digital studio” will aim to capture the imagery of social media, serving as a way to bridge the gap between television and the digital world. With live-stream interviews and real-time updates and coverage from the Internet, NBC expects the Orange Room to be an exceptional addition to the Today show line-up.

Carson Daly emerged onto the hosting scene in 1998 as the television personality for MTV’s famous music countdown show “Total Request Live,” widely referred to as TRL. After his departure from TRL, Daly landed his own late night talk show “Last Call with Carson Daly”.  In 2011, Daly added NBC’s “The Voice” to his hosting platform. Daly also hosts notable holiday specials such as NBC’s “Macy’s Fourth of July Spectacular” and “New Years’ Eve with Carson Daly” which commemorates the historic ball dropping tradition in New York City.

According to Today.com, “Last Call” was also renewed by NBC for another season. However, it is still unknown as to whether Daly will continue hosting the show. It seems Daly will be making a silent, yet smooth transition from night-time television to the early morning jump-start.

  • X-factor Host Steve Jones Dismissed As Host

According to a recent story the now one time host of Fox’s X-factor has been let go. rumors have been circulating for a while that he may not continue his post. representatives earlier dismissed it as a fabrication, but now it has been confirmed. he recently took to twitter to announce his departure.

Show creator Simon Cowell has this to say:

“I don’t think he did a bad job, but there is a Brit limit on the show.”

As of yet there is no news on who may replace Jones, but Cowell commented saying there would be changes coming to X-factor U.S.A.

Also, reportedly popular singer Nicole Sherzinger will not return to the show either, she says she wants to work more on her own personal music career and doing X-factor nearly everyday has halted her from doing so. Surprising enough Paula Abdul will not come back either. She did not leave on her own, rather she was asked to leave; I guess that’s a nicer way to say Donald Trump’s famous line “you’re fired”.
