  • Amanda Bynes Placed Under Psychiatric Hold

Amanda Bynes has been placed under an involuntary psychiatric hold after posting a series of disturbing tweets and displaying bizarre behavior while in New York.

Tamar Arminak, Bynes’ family lawyer, confirmed the news to Reuters saying that she was hospitalized upon arriving in Los Angeles. Bynes reportedly believed that she was being driven to an appointment at her lawyer’s office, however she was taken to a Pasadena treatment center.

Bynes’ parents, Lynn and Rick Bynes, chose to have their daughter placed under the hold after she wrote a series of tweets accusing her father of sexual abuse. She later retracted the tweets and blamed it on a microchip that her father had put in her head. Under California law, Bynes can be held up to 72 hours for observation.

On October 10 Bynes wrote, “I need to tell the truth about my dad. I will not be manipulated or brainwashed by anyone anymore. So let me live my own life free of unhappiness and misery. So call me what you want but please do not call me crazy or insane because that’s a joke.”

She later added the story about the microchip. “My dad never did any of those things. The microchip in my brain made me say those things but he’s the one that ordered them to microchip me,” she tweeted.

According to a source close to the Bynes family, Amanda’s parents are just happy that she is getting the help that she needs. “They’re happy she’s safe and that Amanda is finally getting some help,” the source told People.

Kelly Osbourne Heartbroken Over Joan River’s Death

Like so many others, Kelly Osbourne is mourning the death of her beloved friend and mentor Joan Rivers.

On Thursday, September 4, just hours after Rivers took her last breath, Kelly took to her personal Facebook page to honor the late actress and comedian.

“I’m completely heartbroken by the loss of my beloved Joan,” Kelly wrote. “Not only was she my boss, she was and will always be my teacher, therapist, closest friend, inspiration and the only grandmother I ever knew.

“She was family and I will never forget her. Laughter will be difficult for a while but when I’m sad, lonely or upset all I will have to do is think of Joan and a smile will cross my face,” she added. “Laughter is what she gave us and laughter is what she would want us to do in remembrance of her.”

“Melissa and Cooper [Rivers’ children], my thoughts are with you and I love you both so much. Joan, thank you for taking me in and loving me as a daughter. I will miss you deeply and will always hear your voice in my head saying ‘my darling get out there and be you!’”

Osbourne had worked with Rivers on E!’s Fashion Police since 2010, and had an instant connection with her. Rivers revealed in February 2013 that the feelings were mutual and she thought of Osbourne as a surrogate daughter.

“I adore her and I’m very protective of her. And it has been wonderful to watch her, she’s grown on our show, and she’s changed and grown and matured and figured out the business,” Rivers said. “Kelly not only asks [Melissa] advice but do you want to know what’s wonderful? She listens. Kelly is wonderful.”

On the day of Rivers’ death, Osbourne had to be hospitalized for a bad case of pneumonia, and shared a photo of herself in the hospital bed, via Instagram.

  • Michael Schumacher: Slightly Improved But Still In Critical Condition

French doctors treating former Formula One driver Michael Schumacher have announced today that his condition has improved but remains fragile after a successful overnight operation.

While skiing with his son on Sunday, Schumacher fell and hit his head against a large rock. The accident happened in the French Alps and has since left him fighting for his life.

Michael Schumacher is a 44-year-old retired German race car driver and a 7-time Formula One champion. Many regard him as one of the greatest Formula One racers of all time due to his numerous race victories. Schumacher retired in 2006 but made a comeback in 2010 before retiring again in 2012.

Doctors said there was internal bleeding within Schumacher’s skull but his condition had stabilized by Monday evening after an operation was carried out at Grenoble University Hospital in France.

“The situation is more under control than yesterday but we cannot say he is out of danger,” doctors told reporters in a news conference.  The doctors further said that it is improper to engage in premature speculation since Schumacher is still in a critical condition. He is under an artificially induced coma.

According to the doctors, Schumacher’s helmet saved his life. Had he not been wearing his helmet at the time he may have died on impact. At around 10pm, doctors were able to remove a large blood clot in the brain during the emergency operation. The operation was intended to take pressure off his brain.

“We can’t say that he is out of danger. The surgery bought us more time. The situation can improve as well as worsen,” said Dr. Jean-Francois Payen, head of the hospital’s anesthesia department. He also added that Schumacher still cannot be transferred to another hospital at the moment due to the fragile nature of his condition.

Schumacher’s family, friends and fans are hopeful that the racing legend will pull through.
