  • Hailie Scott: Eminem’s Daughter is Homecoming Queen

Eminem’s little girl is not so little anymore! 17-year-old, Hailie Scott, was named Homecoming Queen on Friday night at Chippewa Valley High School, in Michigan.

Eminem was, of course, there to support his daughter. However, he remained inside to watch her crowning to keep from drawing the attention away from Hailie. Hailie’s King was Star Trek lover,Tyler Knepp.

“Hailie came out with her mother Kim when she was introduced with all the other kids but her father watched from inside the school because he didn’t want to cause a scene — he wanted Hailie to have her own moment,” one of the parents in attendance said.

“I heard our people had him in the cafeteria so he could see what was going on outside, but I can’t confirm that,” said George Sobah, the president of the Chippewa Valley Board of Education.

When Hailie’s name was announced one parents said, “He (Eminem) opened the door and looked out like – ‘That’s my daughter!’ He just looked like a proud father,” the parent said.

Hailie is a senior at Chippewa Valley, and has been attending school in the Chippewa district since she started elementary school. Chippewa parents have said that everyone has tried to treat Hailie as normal as possible so she could live a life like all of the other kids.

“I think all of the kids in the district have shown respect to their family and just let her live a normal life here out of the spotlight,” one parent said. “I think that speaks very highly of the Chippewa Valley community to not try to take advantage of their fame.”

  • Huntsville Crowns Inspirational Homecoming Queen

It’s a high school tradition to crown the homecoming queen during the annual homecoming game. The girl crowned is usually the most popular and pretty girl in the senior class. However, the queen crowned at Huntsville High School, was not your typical queen: she’s better.

Even though the Huntsville Hornets were not victorious during their game, the night was still a success for one girl.

18-year-old, Estefania Martinez, doesn’t know a stranger and makes friends everywhere she goes. So, when she was crowned Homecoming Queen on Friday night, the whole community was excited for her.

Estefania suffered complications at birth, which left her with permanent brain damage. According to her mother, Alejandrina, they were told that Estefania would never be able to walk or talk. However, Estefania beat all the odds stacked against her. Not only does she walk and talk, she is known by her peers as one of the nicest girls in school.

“I think Estefania is one of the nicest girls I know,” said Aaron Cardenas, a student at Huntsville High School. “Every time I see her, she says hi.”

Whitney Stubbs, another fellow student says, “I think she deserves it, because she’s worked hard to get where she is. And the fact that we all love her.”

When the time came for Esefania to take her spot on the field, she walked arm-in-arm with her family. When it was announced that she was the new queen, she couldn’t contain her excitement and raised her hands joyfully over her head.

Estefania was just as excited as any other nominee, if not more so. Alejandrina said during the days leading up to the crowning, Estefania couldn’t stop talking about it. In a heartwarming moment, Estefania told her mother, “I’m a princess!”

  • Transgender Homecoming Queen: “I can’t be Happy”

On Friday, the first transgender homecoming queen was named in a high school in Huntington Beach, California. After winning the title, Cassidy Lynn Campbell posted a YouTube video venting about the negative responses that she has received.

“I’m always judged and I’m always looked down upon and I’m always made fun of,” she said. “Sometimes, I wonder, is it even worth it?”

Up until three years ago, Cassidy lived as Lance Campbell. She said she made the choice to live life as a girl was a very difficult decision. “This is how I’ve always been and this is how I’ve always felt. It’s not a choice,” she said. “This is something I’ve wanted for so long.”

Cassidy has received a lot of criticism from the community. “They think that I’m just a boy doing this for fun, and I’m just a boy dressing up as a girl and trying to win a crown when that is completely the opposite of what it is,” she said. “I’ve always seen myself as a girl.”

In the description of her YouTube video Cassidy said: “I am usually a very strong and confident person, but I have my moments too. although there was a lot was positive feedback, there was a lot of negative too, and the negative affected me more than it ever has before. I recorded this because I didn’t know how else to vent, I didn’t want to talk to anybody.”
