  • Motley Crue’s Power Ballad Used In New Ad

If you’re a Motley Crue fan, then you might have noticed the new commercial that’s been floating around the past few days, which includes their 80s power ballad “Home Sweet Home.”

The commercial is for Coldwell Banker Real Estate and its Senior Vice President, Sean Blakenship, says the song is perfect for the new ad because it symbolizes people coming back to what’s most important to them.

“I say it’s time we all take a moment and reflect on what ‘home’ truly means,” said Blankeship. “A place of celebration. A monument of great memories. A moment of tribute to those who help protect our home every day. That is home sweet home.”

The minute-long commercial shows all kinds of people coming back to their house, from little kids returning home in the backseat of their parents car, to folks kicking off their shoes and plopping down on the couch after a long day. It also shows the different ways that people enjoy their homes, whether it’s a couple cuddling on their couch in front of the TV, or a group of friends hanging out on a patio enjoying the evening together.

Quite frankly, the commercial pulls at your heartstrings a little, because the shots chosen by the director, along with the song, work well together. So much so, it’s surprising Coldwell didn’t save the ad for Super Bowl Sunday.

But perhaps even more surprising is the song “Home Sweet Home” never being a big hit for Motley Crue, but somehow, it’s still considered a fan favorite. “But that song was never a hit single,” said Nikki Sixx, the band’s bass player. “They never worked it at radio, they never promoted the song, and if it wasn’t for MTV back when they used to play videos, that song wouldn’t be the song it is today. But that song’s kind of like our “Dream On” [by Aerosmith] or our “Stairway To Heaven” [by Led Zeppelin], right?”
