  • Deontay Wilder Remains Undefeated with KO of Scott

Deonay Walker remained undefeated with his 31st straight knockout, beating Malik Scott in their first round in their heavyweight fight in Bayomon, Puerto Rico Saturday night.

Wilder, 28, landed with a solid left and followed with a quick right that sent Scott, 33, falling to the mat 1:36 after the opening bell. Scott made a move to get up from his knees, but referee Roberto Ramirez Jr. counted him out.

Much of the crowd of 10,100 at Ruben Rodriguez Coliseum was behind Wilder, but many seemed unconvinced after the match was replayed on the big screen.

“I spoke to Malik Scott and he said it was my left hook that did it,” Wilder said after the fight.

“He’ll do great things, though,” added Wilder.

The quick win put the Wilder, who stands at 6’7″, in position for a WBC heavyweight title shot against the winner of the Bermane Stiverne and Chris Arreola fight this year.

Wilder, a native of Tuscaloosa, Ala., did not start fighting until he was 21 years old, and is the last American boxer to win a medal in the Olympics. He took the bronze in 2008 in Beijing.

  • Hayden Panettiere Dishes on Ellen of Fiance, Waxing

Some celebs these days just think they can do it all, but Hayden Panettiere admitted during this week’s appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, that she took one multitasking attempt too far.

“I was multitasking… I was on the phone, he [an Ellen Show producer] said, ‘How’s the show?’ I said, ‘It’s great, it’s amazing,’” Panettiere explained, as she was mid-scream. The producer continued, “‘You really like playing your character [Juliette Barnes]?’ I love her so much,” insert scream. She says she surrendered to single-tasking, “I said, finally, ‘I’m sorry. I’m so sorry. I have to be honest with you, I’m getting a bikini wax right now and I thought I can do this but I can’t. Can you call me back in 10 minutes?’ He’s like, ‘I’ve heard a lot of things before, but that’s a first.’”

In addition to dishing about her part on Nashville, currently in its second season, Panettiere talked about her engagement to Wladimir Klitschko, the Ukrainian heavyweight boxer. The couple met five years ago, and with a 1-foot, 6-inch difference in height, she says their connection was over their relative size differences. “I said, ‘You’re huge.’ He said, ‘You’re tiny.’” Ellen offered that the couple would likely produce average-sized children when combined.

Panettiere’s Eastern European fiance apparently finds some potential wedding customs confusing. The 37-year-old bridegroom has inquired about that thing called a honeymoon, the custom of not seeing his bride before the wedding, and she says, “He doesn’t know the woman’s side of the family is supposed to pay for the wedding. Shh, we don’t need him to know that!”

Aside from wedding planning and a hit TV show, the New York state born actress is in pre-production on Over the Wall, co-starring Freddy Rodriguez (Planet Terror, Six Feet Under). The film is a love story set in the gritty world of dirt track racing.
