  • Calista Flockhart Talks Husband Harrison Ford’s Plane Crash

Calista Flockhart has finally broken her silence on her husband Harrison Ford’s plane crash. Ford was seriously injured back in March when his single-engine plane crashed on the grounds of the Penmar Golf Course, not far from the Santa Monica Airport.

Flockhart admitted the near-fatal accident was “a really hard, scary time for our family.”

“I think it just makes you realize, once again, that life can turn on a dime. We just have to appreciate every second we’re here, because you never know,” she adds.

Calista Flockhart says Harrison Ford is doing really well these days and that despite the injuries sustained in the plane crash, he has no plans to give up his passion for flying.

“You know, he loves it, so I love it and I support him 100% in that,” she said. “[But] I don’t fly, I’m the passenger in the plane.”

Harrison Ford, known for his roles in The Fugitive, Indiana Jones, and Star Wars, broke both his ankle and his pelvis in the crash. He underwent surgery for his broken pelvis.

Just three months after the accident, Ford was spotted flying again.

If you were Calista Flockhart, would you be after your husband to quit flying for good?

Calista Flockhart stayed by Harrison Ford’s side in the hospital for two weeks straight following his plane crash. She left only to bring their son to school.

  • Harrison Ford Finally Out of Hospital After Plane Crash

Harrison Ford is finally out of the hospital following a plane crash that left him seriously injured. It was on March 5th when the vintage World War II plane the Star Wars actor was piloting crash landed at Penmar Golf Course, not far from the Santa Monica airport.

A source told People magazine that Harrison Ford was spotted driving in L.A. this weekend.

The actor was treated for injuries including a head laceration, as well as broken pelvic and ankle bones. Sources speculated he is undergoing some form of physical therapy even though he has been discharged from the hospital.

Dr. Beny Charchian is the Founder of the Joint and Spine Institute in Beverly Hills, and while he has not treated Harrison Ford, he has a great deal of expertise in the area of broken pelvises.

“The therapy is primarily stabilization exercises and also gait training, like actually getting the patient up and moving again – pretty much just leaving how to walk while minimizing the main,” Dr. Charchian explained.

Surviving this plane crash may have left Harrison Ford with physical injuries, but it in no way destroyed his love of aviation. He plans to lend his voice to the upcoming narration of a documentary on airplanes.

Harrison Ford’s wife, Calista Flockhart, has been by his side almost constantly ever since the plane crash.

“She [would] drop Liam off in the morning and then spend hours with Harrison,” a source said. “She [brought] him food and reading material.”

Harrison Ford plans to reprise his role as Hans Solo in the upcoming Star Wars film. Called The Force Awakens, it is set to hit theaters in December.

The actor–as well as his family–are no doubt grateful he lived through this plane crash and can be on hand to see his role reprised.

Hopefully the road ahead isn’t a painful one for Harrison Ford. It’s unlikely he sustained the injuries he did in this plane crash without some lingering repercussions.

  • Harrison Ford Released From Hospital Three Weeks After Plane Crash

Harrison Ford, 72, has been released from a Los Angeles hospital just three weeks after a plane crash that nearly took his life.

The Star Wars star was spotted out and about in Los Angeles over the weekend — a much-welcomed sight after the actor suffered head, pelvis and ankle injuries in the March 5 crash of his WWII vintage plane on a golf course.

People magazine reported that Harrison Ford was spotted driving around Los Angeles and had been discharged from hospital to recover in the comfort of his own home.

The magazine further reports that a doctor well-versed in the type of injuries the actor suffered said Harrison Ford would require months of rehabilitation.

“The therapy is primarily stabilisation exercises and also gait training, like actually getting the patient up and moving again – pretty much just leaving how to walk while minimizing the main,” said Dr Beny Charchian, founder of the Joint and Spine Institute in Beverly Hills.

Harrison Ford has been praised for his unselfish actions in skillfully piloting his Ryan Aeronautical ST3KR away from houses when its engine failed soon after take-off.

Witnesses on the scene of the crash said he had multiple cuts to his head and local media reported he had broken bones in his pelvis and ankle.

The National Transportation Safety Board revealed in a preliminary report that the crash was caused by “substantial damage following a loss of engine power.”

In audio captured by Air traffic control, Harrison Ford announced his emergency in a cool, professional manner.

“Engine failure, requesting immediate return,” said Harrison Ford moments before the crash.

  • Harrison Ford Might Have To Learn To Walk Again After Crash

Harrison Ford has reportedly been released from the hospital weeks after a harrowing plane crash, and experts say he might have to learn to walk again while he recovers from a broken pelvis.

Ford also suffered lacerations to his head and a broken ankle on March 5 after the small aircraft he was piloting had severe engine trouble; the actor received praise from authorities after news broke that he had steered the plane onto a golf course and away from homes. Ford was given initial first aid by doctors who happened to be on the golf course that day.

“He had no other choice but to make an emergency landing, which he did safely. He was banged up and is in the hospital receiving medical care,” said Ford’s spokesperson, Ina Treciokas.

Harrison Ford’s injuries mean he’ll more than likely need to continue therapy for a while to learn how to walk while keeping the pain to a minimum, according to the founder of the Joint and Spine Institute in Beverly Hills.

“The therapy is primarily stabilization exercises and also gait training, like actually getting the patient up and moving again – pretty much just learning how to walk while minimizing the pain,” says Dr. Beny Charchian, who did not treat Ford.

Harrison Ford didn’t just receive kudos from emergency personnel; he’s getting praise from other pilots, who say he did the exact right thing. Christian Fry of the Santa Monica Airport Association said that Ford’s emergency landing was “absolutely beautifully executed…by an unbelievably well trained pilot, which is the kind of thing we like to see out of the Santa Monica Airport.”

Earlier this month, it was reported that Ford would be partnering with National Geographic to narrate their documentary Living In The Age Of Airplanes, although it’s not clear if he will still take on the role.

  • Harrison Ford To Narrate Documentary About Airplanes

Harrison Ford will be teaming up with National Geographic to narrate a documentary called Living in the Age of Airplanes.

The question is, will Harrison Ford be up to narrating a documentary about airplanes since he’s likely still recovering from an accident earlier this month in his own airplane?

The 72-year-old Indiana Jones star crashed his vintage 1942 Ryan Aeronautical ST3KR into a golf course after the engine failed shortly following takeoff.

There was quite a bit of damage to Harrison Ford’s airplane, and Harrison Ford himself suffered some impressive injuries.

However, Harrison Ford’s got the passion for aviation that will make him a really good choice for the narration.

Harrison Ford owns several aircraft and has been active with the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association and the Experimental Aircraft Association.

Also, Harrison Ford has had plenty of experience since he got his pilot’s license in the late 1980’s. He has also served as a spokesman to various airline associations.

Harrison Ford has also used his flying skills for feats of heroism.

In 2001, Harrison Ford rescued a local missing boy scout in his helicopter and shortly before that had rescued a sick mountain climber near Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

Harrison Ford also volunteeres his services during the local forest fire season. He steps in sometimes to help when rescue helicopters are busy fighting blazes.

Harrison Ford has said his rescues “had nothing to do with heroism.”

He added, “It had to do with flying a helicopter. That’s all.”

Such modesty, Indie! Who knew Harrison Ford was a real life hero?

Harrison Ford’s National Geographic narration project, Living in the Age of Airplanes, will premiere April 8th at the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum, then will open two days later in other IMAX and similar locations.

What do you think of Harrison Ford’s new project?

  • Harrison Ford Still Hospitalized, Calista Flockhart Visits Daily

Harrison Ford is still hospitalized after surviving a plane crash almost two weeks ago. The Star Wars actor was piloting his own WWII vintage plane when it crashed on a golf course in L.A. He was rushed to the hospital in battered condition. Wife Calista Flockhart has made daily visits to his bedside ever since.

Flockhart reportedly delivers some of her husband’s favorite foods and lots of books when she visits Harrison Ford each day.

“She drops Liam off in the morning and then spends hours with Harrison,” a source tells People magazine. “She brings him food and reading material.”

Liam is the only child Harrison Ford and Calista Flockhart have together. Ford and Flockhart married back in 2010 after dating for about eight years.

A preliminary report from the National Transportation Safety Board says the cause of Harrison Ford’s plane crash was “substantial damage following a loss of engine power.”

An witness at the crash site claimed Ford suffered a large facial injury “the size of a pancake.”

It’s good to know that Harrison Ford is healing well from the injuries he sustained during that plane crash. Calista Flockhart and their son–as well as Ford’s children from a previous marriage–are no doubt counting their blessings daily that he is still alive. The end result of a crash like his certainly could have been much worse.

It’s uncertain how much longer Harrison Ford will remain in the hospital. Calista Flockhart will no doubt see to the Indiana Jones star’s every need–at least as far as food and reading material goes–until he is able to return home.

  • Calista Flockhart Smiles After Spending Time With Hubby, Harrison Ford, In Hospital

Calista Flockhart was photographed on Friday, smiling after a long ordeal following Harrison Ford’s plane crash on Thursday.

Calista Flockhart reportedly rushed to the hospital to be with her husband shortly after his vintage World War II plane went down.

He crashed on a Los Angeles golf course soon after takeoff.

Dr. Sanjay Khurana, a spine surgeon, was playing golf and walking toward the seventh green at Venice’s Penmar Golf Course.

Calista Flockhart’s hubby’s plane was gliding about 100 feet above his head, then it struck a tree with the wing. The plane came crashing down about 50 yards from where Dr. Khurana was standing.

“It felt like an earthquake,” he said.

Dr. Khurana helped to stabilize Ford and pull him out of the plane after kicking dirt on some fuel leaking out of the plane.

“We wanted to get him out safely and with the fuel leaking out, I motioned to some of the other folks at the golf course to put dirt on the fuel so it wouldn’t combust,” Khurana said. “I just wanted to get him out safely so that the situation wouldn’t erupt into a fire.”

  • Harrison Ford: Plane He Was Piloting Crashes

Harrison Ford, known for roles in films like Indiana Jones, was piloting a WW2 vintage plane on Thursday that crashed onto a golf course in L.A. He survived the crash and is reportedly in stable condition.

According to a report from People magazine, Ford, who is 72, was the only person on board the plane.

“Harrison was flying a WW2 vintage plane today which had engine trouble upon take off,” a rep for Harrison Ford said in a statement to the media. “He had no other choice but to make an emergency landing, which he did safely. He was banged up and is in the hospital receiving medical care. The injuries sustained are not life threatening, and he is expected to make a full recovery.”

Harrison Ford’s son Ben tweeted about the incident later in the day.

Ford reportedly sustained a head injury as a result of the plane crash.

“There were two doctors who had been at the golf course who first attended to Mr. Ford and the Santa Monica Fire Department was the first to arrive,” Santa Monica City Commissioner Phil Brock told People.

Assistant Chief Patrick Butler of the L.A. Fire Department said during a press conference that Harrison Ford wasn’t in the plane when emergency personnel arrived on scene at the airport.

“The patient was in moderate condition, alert and conscious and breathing and was transported to a local hospital,” Butler said. He noted that the plane had avoided residential areas that closely surround the golf course. “I would say that it is an area that probably presented the least amount of impact to the community,” he said.

Butler added that the FAA and NTSB will investigate the crash.

Harrison Ford was heard by air traffic control reporting his plane emergency.

“Engine failure, requesting immediate return,” he was heard saying prior to the crash.

This isn’t the first plane crash Harrison Ford has experienced. The actor landed his six-passenger plane hard back in 2000, and crash-landed a helicopter on which he was practicing emergency landings back in 1999.

If you were Ford, might you consider staying on the ground?

Lots of people are breathing a sigh of relief since learning that even though Harrison Ford crashed his plane, he survived the crash and is in stable condition. It will certainly be interesting to learn what the investigation into the crash determines.
