  • Calista Flockhart Joins Harrison Ford at Hospital

Calista Flockhart has reportedly flown to Britain to be at husband Harrison Ford’s hospital bedside. The Star Wars actor was seriously injured on set, doing serious harm to his ankle. Some sources are now saying his injuries may be even more serious than initially reported–including possible injuries to his pelvis and his chest. The two missed celebrating their fourth anniversary together. They were married on June 15th in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Flockhart–probably best known for her role on Ally McBeal–confirmed that she was in fact en route to spend several days with Harrison Ford. Ford was airlifted to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford following the accident that occurred at Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire. It seems a door from the Millennium Falcon spacecraft–part of the intricate set design for the upcoming Star Wars film–collapsed and fell on the actor.

Despite these reports it is said that Star Wars: Episode VII is set to release on schedule, with a premiere date of December 18, 2015 still on track. Filming will continue despite Harrison Ford’s absence. He will return, however, to play Han Solo even though he is expected to miss as many as eight weeks on set. One source claims Ford will resume filming, with shots featuring him from the waist up only.

Perhaps a good dose of Calista Flockhart is what Ford needs. Being alone in a hospital far from home must take its toll on one’s psyche, and as everyone knows–good emotional health is vital to physical healing. Maybe her time spent at his bedside will prompt him to join cast members from the original Star Wars who are reprising their roles in the new film as well. Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill will also appear in what will likely be a big screen sensation.

It’s uncertain how long Calista Flockhart will stay in Britain with Harrison Ford. The two are raising a son that she adopted as an infant back in 2001–meaning they have a teenager at home.

  • Star Wars: Harrison Ford May Need Surgery on Ankle

Harrison Ford, who was airlifted from the set of Star Wars: Episode VII June 12 after an on-set accident, may need extensive surgery for an ankle break.

According to Access Hollywood, the 71-year-old actor’s ankle injury may need a plate and screws to assure complete healing.

Ford‘s son, Ben Ford, told the publication that his dad will possibly need the surgery.

The younger Ford also said that filming of the movie could be altered slightly to accommodate the injury. This may include shooting the actor from the waist up for a short time until he recovers.

Disney/Lucasfilm released a statement following the actor’s injury last week after a hydraulic door fell on him on the set at Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire.

“Harrison Ford sustained an ankle injury during filming today on the set of ‘Star Wars: Episode VII,’” the statement read. “He was taken to a local hospital and is receiving care. Shooting will continue as planned while he recuperates.”

Ford, who plays Hans Solo, was airlifted to John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford for treatment following the accident.

“We were called just after 5 p.m. to reports of a 71-year-old man being injured in an incident believed to involve a garage door,” said a spokesman for Thames Valley police.

Meanwhile, Ford’s wife, Calista Flockhart, rushed to her husband’s side when she learned of the accident. The Ally McBeal star confirmed that she was “en route” to see her husband.

Star Wars: Episode VII is scheduled to open worldwide on December 18, 2015.
