  • Jessica Chastain Believes In Ghosts

Jessica Chastain has been making headlines for her unique look on the cover of W Magazine, but she’s making the rounds promoting Crimson Peak, the new ghost movie from Guillermo del Toro, which opens this Friday, and appeared on The Today Show.

Chastain discussed the film and her role in it with Matt Lauer, mentioning that she’s a big fan of gothic romances and enjoyed Interview with a Vampire in particular.

Lauer shifted the conversation by asking if she believes in ghosts, to which she replied, “Yep.”

Prodded about if she meant the “floating figure ghosts” or just the “misplaced spirits ghosts,” Chastain replied that, “It’s more fun to believe in ghosts than to not believe in ghosts. So yes, I believe in ghosts. Sometimes the lights will turn on and off if I’m in London or something, and I always say, ‘Hey, okay, great, you’re here. I recognize you. I’m super tired. Please let me sleep.’”

She went on to admit that it could be an electrical thing, adding that it’s more fun to believe someone is trying to communicate with her.

Lauer said he saw a rocking chair move once.

In Crimson Peak, Jessica Chastain plays Lucille Sharp, whose brother moves his new wife into the family’s home.

  • Geena Davis Wants To Return For ‘Beetlejuice’ Sequel But Nobody Is Asking Her Yet

The writer of Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice sequel, Seth Grahame-Smith, said that the much anticipated series would be taking place in present day, which leaves people to wonder whether new actors will be cast or the old ones will remain.

Geena Davis, who played the role of the female ghost, Barbara Maitland, expressed her interest in returning for the sequel.

“I did hear that it’s really happening. No one’s talked to me about it. I would love to! That was one of my favorite movies, too… but ghosts probably don’t age, and it’s going to be 30 years now. Of course, I haven’t aged, but I think Alec Baldwin maybe has aged, perhaps,” Davis said. Alec Baldwin, who played Barbara’s husband Adam Maitland, has not been approached about the sequel either.

But a few months ago, Winona Ryder, who played the role of Lydia Deetz in the original series, confirmed that she would be part of the sequel. “Um, I think I can confirm it, because Tim Burton did this interview – like, it was very hush hush, top secret… and then he was doing some press for Big Eyes and he did an on-camera interview and he said, ‘Oh yeah we’re doing it and Winona’s going to be in it,’” Ryder said.

Reportedly, Michael Keaton, who was also in the original series, would be coming back.

Although Davis has not been approached for the role, a lot could happen as filming has not begun yet. Smith only revealed that there would be less of the original Beetlejuice that could be expected in the sequel.

According to reports, filming might start around the end of 2015 but a 2016 release date is uncertain. Tim Burton will be focusing his time on the film adaptation of Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, which is slated to be released next year.

  • CoD: Ghosts Will Run at 720p on XB1 While PS4 Runs 1080p

Call of Duty has done it again, at least in terms of causing controversy. Unlike previous controversies of the next-generation consoles, one of which involved Microsoft’s crazy DRM policies and the feud with the retail/resale market while another cited NSA-like data collection associated with the Kinect device, this one involves the release resolution for Call of Duty: Ghosts. The bad press, at least for Xbox One, seems viral; as it stands, the PS4 version of the new game will run at a higher native resolution than the Xbox competitor.

PlayStation/Xbox rivalry is well-documented, and Call of Duty: Ghosts producer Mark Rubin certainly didn’t help things when he confirmed the difference on Twitter:

“[For] Xbox One we’re 1080p upscaled from 720p. And, we’re native 1080p on PS4. We optimized each console to hit 60 FPS and the game looks great on both,” the tweet continued.

Erik Kain at Forbes writes that this difference shouldn’t be a dealbreaker, especially for console gamers, most of whom probably don’t care about the strength of their hardware. In other words, “you don’t buy a PS4 because it has higher resolution if you’re a big Halo fan,” he wrote. “You don’t buy an Xbox One because it comes with a Kinect if you’re a big Uncharted fan.”

Kain takes note of a piece on CinemaBlend by author William Usher, who clearly believes the gaming media is doing Microsoft a favor by downplaying the Xbox One’s technological inferiority. But unlike Usher, Kain acknowledges that console players probably won’t angrily charge onto internet forums and voice their disapproval.

The endless debate over PC graphics cards shouldn’t even extend to consoles, Kain contends, because a vast majority of console players don’t overclock, tinker, and upgrade their gaming rig in the same way a PC gamer does. “You just plug and play, end of story,” he writes. “You don’t equip your PS4 with water-cooling.”

  • Man Attempts To Bust Ghosts, Stumbles Upon Wife Having Sex With Stepson

Being a ghostbuster isn’t easy. You may stumble upon some rather scary things, including your son having sex with your wife.

The Mercury reports that a 28-year-old woman recently pled guilty to five counts of sexual intercourse with a minor. What makes this particular case a bit weirder isn’t the fact that the minor was her stepson, but rather, how they were caught.

It all started when the father set up a camera in the house hoping to find evidence of ghosts. He forgot to turn off the camera when he left for work and came back to a surprise. On the tape was footage of his wife having sex with her stepson.

In the following days, she confessed to police that she had sex with her stepson twice. She also said that she knew he was 16-years-old. She tried to play off the latter by saying that she thought the age of consent was 16.

Even after being separated from the boy, the prosecution stated that she had traveled to a remote hotel room to engage in more sexual activities with her stepson.

Obviously, the events put quite the damper on the relationship between the woman and her husband. She is now working to repair their relationship.

She will be sentenced on Monday.

  • Ke$ha Goes On Spirit Quest, Has Sex With Ghosts

Ke$ha is the girl who was probably voted “most unique” in her high school superlatives because she was so “weird” and “edgy”. In pop music, those things translate into musical gold when done right, and after talking about her new album recently, it seems she’s gathered up all her weirdness and thrown it into one big pot.

“There are so many weird topics on this record, from having sexy time with a ghost to getting hypnotized and going into past lives,” she said. “I just really wanted the theme of this record to be the magic of life.”

Wait. “Sexy time with a ghost”?

“I don’t know his name,” she told Ryan Seacrest. “He was a ghost! I’m very open to it.”

The album, which drops on December 4th, includes appearances by Iggy Pop and Wayne Coyne and delves into her experiences with a spirit search as she traveled around the world.

“I was in Africa rehabilitating baby lions,” she said. “I went diving with great white sharks, and just went on this crazy spirit quest. I got hypnotized, and I just really wanted this record to be really positive, really raw, really vulnerable and about the magic of life.”
