  • One-Eyed Man Sought in 7-Eleven Double Homicide

Authorities are searching for a one-eyed gang member who fatally shot two other men in front of a Van Nuys, California 7-Eleven convenience store early Thursday morning.

According to a statement from the Los Angeles Police Department, Angel Santana, 29, and another unidentified suspect allegedly began shooting at two men, after a brief confrontation which occurred at around 6 a.m. in the 8000 block of Sepulveda Boulevard.

Capt. Todd Chamberlain with the LAPD Mission Division commented, “Santana is a known gang member and with his appearance, it won’t be easy for him to hide.” Chamberlain added, “We are still trying to piece together what motivated the shooting. But we do know enough to know that this was not some random act. It appears that there was some rivalry or animus between the groups.”

The LAPD describes Santana as being 5 foot 7 inches tall and 150 pounds. The shooter is missing his left eye, and has tattoos on the right side of his jaw and neck and over his left brow. Santana owns a Ford F-150 pickup with California plates, and police have notified the California Highway Patrol and the United States Border Patrol to be on alert.

Ed Winter, a spokesman for the coroner’s office, said that the victims have yet to be identified, though both appeared to be in their twenties and were shot during a verbal argument, according to Detective Juan Santa. A third bystander was injured during the shooting, and was taken to an area hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

  • Bus Driver Bible Stops Two Bullets to the Chest, Saves His Life

According to the Bible’s King James Version, Isaiah chapter 54 verse 17 starts the scripture with:

No weapon that is formed against thee, shall prosper…

To some, this statement is literally just another read from a trendy book, but for a Dayton, Ohio bus driver, he strangely experienced the manifestation of this passage Monday morning.

Rickey Wagoner, 49, called 911 around 5:20 a.m. after three young teenage boys attacked him outside his bus.

The bus driver was shot three times: once in the leg and twice in the torso.

However, the latter bullets miraculously did not pierce him. Instead, a contemporary translation of the Bible titled The Message was wounded by the gunshots.

“The two bullets were stopped by the New Testament book in his (shirt) pocket,” Sgt. Michael Pauley of the Dayton Police Department told Dayton Daily News.

The newspaper reported how the incident occurred. As Wagoner was attending to vehicle failures, he was approached from behind. When he turned around, one of the assailants fired two shots at his chest. During the confrontation, he managed to get the firearm away from the gunman after he was shot in the leg and stabbed in the arm. He stabbed one of the teens in the leg with a pocket pen.

The attackers then fled the scene. (image)

“I didn’t want to stay there. I took the gun and knife away from them and shot at them,” he told the 911 operator.

Wagoner later said during the emergency call: “I’ve got a book in my pocket and I don’t think they made it through this book.”

Wagoner told investigators that he put up quite a struggle, in attempt to fight off a group he believed to be a gang participating in initiation activities. He recalls one of the teens demanding another to murder him “if you want to be all the way in the club.”

Investigators are not associating the attack with gang-related violence. Yet, they have determined that it was definitely not a robbery.

As for The Message, Pauley told Dayton Daily News that it visibly saved Wagoner’s life.

“There was obviously some kind of intervention involved in this incident, because he probably should not be here.”

Wagoner is currently recovering at the Miami Valley Hospital and is reportedly in good condition.

So, do you think this was divine intervention or just a fortunate coincidence?

  • Insane Clown Posse and the American Juggalo

Wicked clown rap duo Insane Clown Posse, along with four followers known as ‘Juggalos,’ have sued the Federal Bureau of Investigation after being officially labelled a gang.

The FBI deemed that Juggalos are a “loosely organized hybrid gang” in the 2011 National Gang Threat Assessment. Juggalos and Juggalettes are readily identified by specific tattoos and clothing, as well as an affinity for Faygo Cola and Insane Clown Posse music.

The lawsuit filed in Detroit Wednesday by ICP states that, “Juggalos are a ‘family’ of people who love and help one another, enjoy one another’s company, and bond over the music and a philosophy of life. Organized crime is by no means part of the Juggalo culture.”

Check out Sean Dunne’s documentary ‘American Juggalo’ on Vimeo (Graphic):

ICP and the Juggalos contend that the hybrid gang designation violates constitutional rights, including free speech, freedom of association and the right to due process, and point out that some fans have been denied jobs because of the label. ICP’s complaint adds, “Among the supporters of almost any group – whether it be a band, sports team, university, political organization or religion – there will be some people who violate the law. Inevitably, some will do so while sporting the group’s logos or symbols. However, it is wrong to designate the entire group of supporters as a criminal gang based on the acts of a few. Unfortunately, that is exactly what happened here.”

ICP, who has been arguing with the FBI since 2012 over the gang label, states that Juggalos “have hopeful, life-affirming themes about the wonders of life and the support that Juggalos give to one another.”

Aspects of ICP’s philosophy can be gleaned from 2010’s ‘Miracles’:

The U.S. Justice Department has not yet filed any response to the Juggalo lawsuit.
