  • Chad Johnson In Custody, Claims It’s A “Misunderstanding”

Chad Johnson, the former NFL star who found himself without a job when he was released from the Miami Dolphins last summer, was arrested early this morning on a probation violation.

Johnson is on probation after a domestic violence dispute with his ex-wife, Evelyn Lozada, and has been placed in jail on $1,000 bond. Prosecutors are asking that he spend a minimum of 60 days in jail after he failed to report to his probation officer. However, Johnson says it was all just a misunderstanding and a lack of communication between him and his attorney is to blame.

“I didn’t do anything on purpose,” Johnson said. “I wouldn’t blatantly not show up.”

The judge didn’t buy his story, though, and says he doesn’t think Johnson is taking his sentence seriously. A new hearing will take place on June 3.

  • Secret NFL Child Abuse Arrest Came 3 Days After Team Cut

Former Giants linebacker Michael Boley reportedly turned himself in to Alabama police back in February after a child abuse investigation stemming from a 2011 incident.

Boley’s 5-year old son was at the center of the investigation, which was allegedly due to physical abuse and not of a sexual nature. Boley pleaded guilty to the abuse as part of a plea deal, and has said that the allegations came from the child’s mother, who filed a lawsuit against him for child support payments. In 2008, he was arrested on charges of domestic violence after his ex-wife claimed he beat her, and though the case was never pursued by prosecutors, Boley was suspended for the first game of the 2009 season with the Giants due to a violation of the NFL’s Personal Conduct Policy.

Part of the plea deal terms state that Boley must complete a diversion program in order for the charges to be dropped, which is rep says he will comply with. However, there’s been no comment on whether or not the Giants cut him from the team because of his legal issues or for another reason. He is currently a free agent.

  • LB Prostitution Sting: Browns Player Arrested

Browns linebacker Quentin Groves was arrested last week in Ohio for soliciting a prostitute during a police sting, officials say.

Groves made arrangements over the phone to spend time with an escort, unknowingly putting himself square in the sights of local law enforcement, who had set up an operation at a local hotel.

“[Groves] made arrangements for certain acts … and requested ‘full service’ and stated he would bring condoms,” read the police report.

The footballer showed up to Homestead Guest Studios in Beachwood with almost $200 cash and a box of condoms, which were confiscated as evidence. Groves was one of 15 people arrested in the sting.
