  • Katy Perry Blows Past Taylor Swift as Forbes’ Highest-Paid Woman in Music

Katy Perry blew past Taylor Swift this year, and is now Forbes’ highest paid woman in music. Taylor Swift placed second on the list.

“I am proud of my position as a boss, as a person that runs my own company,” Katy Perry told Forbes last year. “I’m an entrepreneur. … I don’t want to shy away from it. I actually want to kind of grab it by its balls.”

Katy Perry grabbed it by its balls, all right. And she held on tight for the ride of her life.

Just below Katy Perry and Taylor Swift in the number one and two spots on Forbes’ Highest-Paid Women in Music List is Fleetwood Mac. Lady Gaga is in fourth place, and Beyonce is at the number five spot.

So how much did Katy Perry make this year to put her at the top of this coveted list? The “Firework” singer earned $135 million. Taylor Swift earned $80 million, with Fleetwood Mac bringing in $59.5 million, and Beyonce $54.5 million.

Forbes hints that Katy Perry shouldn’t get too comfortable in that number one spot, however. Taylor Swift’s 1989 tour is grossing more than $4 million per city, meaning she could give Katy Perry a run for her money–literally–when it’s time to tabulate scores for next year’s list.

  • AC/DC Rock or Bust Tour Tickets Get Top Dollar

AC/DC tickets will set fans back by more than $200, as the band heads out on their Rock or Bust tour across the U.S. starting in April. It will cost big bucks to score tickets to the show. A single seat on the secondary market will set one back about $250.

According to a report from Classic Rock, AC/DC will make their premiere appearance on this tour at Coachella in April. They will then kick off a run of ten shows starting at Gillette Stadium in Massachusetts in August. Forbes reports that AC/DC tickets now rival top selling rock icons like Fleetwood Mac and The Who.

Rock or Bust is the celebration of a 40 year anniversary for the band, hence a good part of the reason AC/DC tickets are so costly. Will this only serve to drive the cost of popular tickets even higher for tours to come? The Who starts their 50th anniversary celebratory tour in April. How much will fans have to pay to score a ticket to their show?

The most expensive AC/DC tickets thus far (on the secondary market) are selling for an average of $573.37, and are for the September 20th show at Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton, N.B. The second highest price on AC/DC tickets is being paid for their Vancouver stop on September 22nd.

Are you a big fan of the ‘Highway to Hell’ band? Would you consider paying this kind of money for AC/DC tickets?

  • Stevie Nicks: Yeah, I Still Smoke Pot

Stevie Nicks is famous for one big thing, and a few smaller things.

Obviously she is one of the several — if not the biggest — voices in Fleetwood Mac. She rounds out the “classic lineup” of The Mac, which also includes Christine McVie (who is back again), Stevie’s ex Lindsay Buckingham, and Mac founders John McVie and Mick Fleetwood.

But Nicks is also famous for drugs and sex. The stories of who she has bedded in the business are many and varied. We make no claims here about what may be true or not. There are just a lot of stories. Some famous names that get dropped include: Don Henley of The Eagles, Dave Stewart of The Eurhythmics, and producer Jimmy Iovine may top the list.

But Stevie Nicks stories about drugs are things she readily admits to herself. Stevie Nicks did so much cocaine in her day that doctors warned her that she was developing a hole in her nose. Not one that is supposed to be there, either.

In a recent Rolling Stone interview, Nicks talks about her drugging years. They are behind her now, so she can talk.

“All of us were drug addicts,” she says. “But there was a point where I was the worst drug addict. . . . I was a girl, I was fragile, and I was doing a lot of coke. And I had that hole in my nose. So it was dangerous.”

In keeping with the times, Nicks does not look at marijuana as the “drug” that your parents were so freaked out over. She avoids coke like the plague, but a little weed is still on the table.

“When I’m writing, I will allow myself to smoke a little bit of pot,” she says. “It’s my one little thing that I can do. I use it as a tool, and I’m very careful, you know? And I get results. However, if I thought it was going to lead me back to something worse, I’d stop.”

In one other interesting tidbit, Nicks reveals one of the downsides to her fame: she can’t date regular people. One boyfriend ended up finding this out the hard way.

“One day, he came home and said, ‘I got two tickets for Bill Maher, will you go with me?’ and I’m like, ‘Are you insane? No. I’m not going. I’m famous! I’m Stevie Nicks! Everybody’s gonna spend the whole time taking pictures of us. And I can’t keep on making excuses about why you can’t go anywhere I can go. Like, can I take you to the Grammys? No. Can I go to the market with you? No. Can we go to a movie together in downtown Santa Monica? No. All we can do is stay in.’”

  • Lindsey Buckingham Spills Rumours About Fleetwood Mac’s New Album

Rumour has it that Fleetwood Mac is in the early stages of building a new album. And with Fleetwood Mac, rumours are a good thing.

Speaking by phone to the Wall Street Journal, singer/guitarist Lindsey Buckingham revealed that material is being gathered from within the band for what could be the next Fleetwood Mac album, their first with a now fully-reunited “classic lineup” since 1987’s Tango in the Night.

The first pieces are coming in from newly-rejoined singer/keyboardist Christine McVie, who brought in what Buckingham refers to as “piano and voice demos”.

“I took massive liberties with them,” Buckingham said, with McVie’s permission, of course.

So far, only Buckingham and McVie have been involved in any material gathering. Stevie Nicks, in addition to touring with the band on their current “On With the Show” concerts, is preparing for exhibits of her photography in Los Angeles and New York.

“Christine and I were able to concentrate on each other. We were exploring some new turf. That became enlightening to me.”

But Stevie is absolutely going to join in once her schedule frees up a bit.

“We never envisioned finishing the album in the short term. We set it aside. Stevie will come in and participate. I have material I had been working on. There’s no danger that it will slip between the tracks. It’s too profound to.”

Buckingham spoke about Christine re-joining the band after a 16-year absence.

“It’s a very interesting thing when someone who helped to define the interaction leaves for that amount of time. You don’t know how it’s going to play out. But this something that feels really good. It feels really circular.”

For right now, Fleetwood Mac is focusing on the current tour, which mainly consists of fan-pleasing “classic lineup” material from the Fleetwood Mac through Tango in the Night albums. If the sessions with the principal songwriters and Fleetwood/McVie rhythm section go well, there could be a new album to tour behind.

“Once we finish it,” Buckingham said, “we can think about going out and trying something new.”

When things are clicking with the band members, they have the ability to churn out amazing songs. One of their most prolific albums, 1977’s Rumours, contained 11 songs, almost every one of which is still frequently played on “classic rock” radio, nine of them solidly, as well as a studio out-take track (“Silver Springs”) that has found a life of its own since then. That album’s recording sessions happened in the midst of divorce, breakup, infidelity, and loads of tension among the band members. Still it was brilliant and hugely successful.

A setlist from last night’s show in Philadelphia includes:

    The Chain
    You Make Loving Fun
    Dreams
    Second Hand News
    Rhiannon
    Everywhere
    I Know I’m Not Wrong
    Tusk
    Sisters of the Moon
    Say You Love Me
    Seven Wonders
    Big Love
    Landslide
    Never Going Back Again
    Over My Head
    Gypsy
    Little Lies
    Gold Dust Woman
    I’m So Afraid
    Go Your Own Way
    World Turning
    Don’t Stop
    Silver Springs
    Songbird

These songs are all from Fleetwood Mac albums in the “classic lineup” era. The individual members of the core songwriting trio of Christine McVie, Lindsey Buckingham, and Stevie Nicks have all had success as solo artists and collaborators with other artists outside of Fleetwood Mac. It is a real testament to the power of the trio as a unit that they can fill a good concert without touching any of that outside material, or even the eight year’s worth of pre-Buckingham/Nicks albums that Fleetwood Mac did with guitarists Peter Green or Bob Welch.

Here’s hoping they get a new album out soon.

  • Christine McVie Returns to Fleetwood Mac, Thrilling Fans

“Welcome back, Chris! Where have you been?”

    And the crowd goes wild.

Stevie Nicks is the undisputed face of Fleetwood Mac, even though she is not the only lead singer in the group. In fact, she was not even in the group for the first eight years of its existence. But something has been missing from Fleetwood Mac for a while. And now that something is back.

Christine McVie dropped out of Fleetwood Mac 16 years ago. She said she was afraid of flying. She said she wanted to go live a pastoral life and while away her days quietly in England’s green and pleasant land.

But Christine McVie is not just some replaceable, interchangeable part of Fleetwood Mac. She is one of three voices that blended together to make a harmony that sold millions of albums. She sang lead herself on several of those hits. And she has been missed.

And now Christine is back, as Stevie Nicks observed to a cheering crowd in Boston this past weekend.

What has become known as the Fleetwood Mac “Classic Lineup” includes founding members Mick Fleetwood on drums and John McVie on bass, Christine McVie (formerly Christine Perfect, and formerly wife of John) on keyboards and vocals, Lindsey Buckingham on guitar and vocals, and Stevie Nicks on vocals, tambourine, boots, shawls, capes, and flowing dresses.

That lineup churned out albums like Rumours, Tusk, Fleetwood Mac, Mirage, and Tango in the Night. Hit songs leapt off those albums — songs like “Don’t Stop”, “Dreams”, “Go Your Own Way”, “Gold Dust Woman”, “The Chain”, “Rhiannon”, and “Landslide”.

The band may be older. The voices may not be quite as clear and youthful as they used to be. Some of these people have lived hard lives. But they are together again, now that Christine McVie has rejoined the fold. And that just makes something right in the world.

  • Christine McVie Returns, Completes Fleetwood Mac

Christine McVie has officially returned to Fleetwood Mac, and recent concerts in Boston and at New York City’s Madison Square Garden are replete with rave reviews.

On Friday night, at Boston’s TD Garden, Stevie Nicks introduced McVie’s return to the band.

“Welcome back, Chris,” Nicks shouted to a screaming crowd. “Where have you been?”

“Of course she delivered her early classics, ‘Say You Love Me,’ ‘Over My Head,’ ‘Don’t Stop,’ and closed the night with a wonderfully tender reading of ‘Songbird.’ Again: obvious, perfect,” the Boston Herald reports.

“But it must be noted that Nicks’ twirls got an ovation equal to Christine’s introduction. For so many Nicks Chicks, this is Stevie’s band,” they added.

What the band’s fans are no doubt noting is that Christine McVie’s return is a monumental completion that many believed they would never see.

Just days before their Boston performance, Fleetwood Mac serenaded fans at Madison Square Garden in New York.

The New York Times writes, “Fleetwood Mac can’t duplicate its youthful sweetness. Ms. McVie’s voice has held its richness, but sometimes falters at high notes. Ms. Nicks’s huskiness has grown harsher, and in her glittery shawls she turns slowly now instead of twirling across the stage. But Fleetwood Mac still has the intricacy, elegance and underlying punch of its songs.”

It’s important to note that Christine McVie is 71 years old. Stevie Nicks is 66. These aren’t kids bouncing around the stage any more–and it’s not unfathomable that years of singing (and of some drug and alcohol abuse)–have taken their toll.

McVie was the band member least wracked with substance abuse and alcohol issues, however–even though she recalls, “staying up for three days with the white powder, liberally washed down by Dom Pérignon.”

Stevie Nicks and Christine McVie had a conversation about that return to Fleetwood Mac. The New York Times shares it as follows.

“How would you feel if I decided to come back to the band?” (She had already made a guest appearance in September 2013 at a Fleetwood Mac concert in London.) Ms. Nicks added that she advised Ms. McVie to get a trainer because Fleetwood Mac’s shows are so “physical”; its concert set runs 2 ½ hours. And while Ms. McVie’s voice, like the others in the band, has roughened over the decades, it’s still hearty.

A Chicago audience enthusiastically welcomed Christine McVie back.

Fleetwood Mac’s songs ‘Don’t Stop,’ and ‘You Make Loving Fun’ now truly take fans back to the 1970s and early 1980s.

Christine McVie is back. Fleetwood Mac is complete. How long will they stay together? Their North American tour has just begun. Their On with the Show tour continues through January of 2015.

  • Stevie Nicks Opens Up About Pregnancy With Eagles Singer

Stevie Nicks and her Fleetwood Mac bandmates have had their share of drama and relationships–a lot of which has been made public over the years–but for the first time, Nicks is opening up about a relationship she had outside of the band, and about a very personal decision she came to.

Nicks told Billboard Magazine recently that she got pregnant while dating Eagles singer Don Henley–after her breakup with Lindsey Buckingham–and decided not to have the baby. The news came as a shock to fans, especially when she revealed the truth about a song she penned for her band called “Sara”.

“Had I married Don and had that baby, and had she been a girl, I would have named her Sara. But there was another woman in my life named Sara, who shortly after that became Mick’s wife, Sara Fleetwood,” Nicks said.

    “Sara”

    Wait a minute baby…
    Stay with me awhile
    Said you’d give me light
But you never told be about the fire
Drowning in the sea of love
Where everyone would love to drown
    And now it’s gone
    It doesn’t matter anymore
    When you build your house
    Call me home
And he was just like a great dark wing
Within the wings of a storm
I think I had met my match — he was singing
    And undoing the laces
    Undoing the laces
Drowning in the sea of love
Where everyone would love to drown
    And now it’s gone
    It doesn’t matter anymore
    When you build your house
    Call me home
    Hold on
The night is coming and the starling flew for days
I’d stay home at night all the time
    I’d go anywhere, anywhere
Ask me and I’m there because I care
Sara, you’re the poet in my heart
    Never change, never stop
    And now it’s gone
    It doesn’t matter what for
    When you build your house
    I’ll come by
Drowning in the sea of love
Where everyone would love to drown
    And now it’s gone
    It doesn’t matter anymore
    When you build your house
    Call me home
    All I ever wanted
Was to know that you were dreaming
    (There’s a heartbeat
    And it never really died)

While fans of Nicks and Fleetwood Mac have been dying for a tell-all book from the musician, she says she doesn’t think it’ll happen, and for a good reason.

“The world is not ready for my memoir, I guarantee you. All of the men I hung out with are on their third wives by now, and the wives are all under 30. If I were to write what really happened between 1972 and now, a lot of people would be very angry with me. It’ll happen some day, just not for a very long time. I won’t write a book until everybody is so old that they no longer care. Like, ‘I’m 90, I don’t care what you write about me,” she said.

  • Stevie Nicks Opens Up About Unborn Child With Don Henley

Stevie Nicks’ recent admission comes as quite a shock to some fans.

The Fleetwood Mac singer recently opened up about the group’s 1979 song “Sara.” Apparently, Nicks wrote the song about her unborn child for Eagles’ front-man Don Henley.

So, during a recent interview with Billboard, she took time to address Henley’s statement in reference to the song and its symbolic meaning.

“Had I married Don and had that baby, and had she been a girl, I would have named her Sara,” Nicks explained. “But there was another woman in my life named Sara, who shortly after that became Mick’s wife, Sara Fleetwood.”

Nicks reportedly dated Henley in the 1970s. Their brief, whirlwind romance took place after she split from her Fleetwood Mac bandmate Lindsey Buckingham. During their brief affair, Nicks became pregnant, but decided to terminate the pregnancy.

With all of the twists and turns in her life, she was asked why she hasn’t opted to pen a memoir. The 66-year-old singer insists the world isn’t ready for her story! She also admitted she wants to respect the privacy of all the people who have been a part her life.

“Because I wouldn’t be able to tell the whole truth. The world is not ready for my memoir, I guarantee you,” Nicks insisted.

“All of the men I hung out with are on their third wives by now, and the wives are all under 30. If I were to write what really happened between 1972 and now, a lot of people would be very angry with me. It’ll happen some day, just not for a very long time. I won’t write a book until everybody is so old that they no longer care. Like, ‘I’m 90, I don’t care what you write about me.’”

  • Stevie Nicks Set To Release New Album This Fall

Looking for a little Stevie Nicks fix? If you are, you’re in for a treat. The rocker recently announced that she plans to release a double album this fall called 24 Karat Gold: Songs From The Vault. The album will be available on October 7. And if you’re into old school vinyl, a limited-edition double LP will be available on September 29.

The Fleetwood Mac frontwoman said in a statement, “Most of these songs were written between 1969 and 1987. One was written in 1994 and one in 1995. I included them because they seemed to belong to this special group. Each song is a lifetime. Each song has a soul. Each song has a purpose. Each song is a love story… They represent my life behind the scenes, the secrets, the broken hearts, the broken-hearted and the survivors.”

Nicks recently gave prospective listeners a preview of what to expect from the new album with the release of the piano ballad Lady. The song was originally recorded with Lindsey Buckingham and called Knockin’ On Doors.

Check out the lyric video for the song:

Nicks had previously released another cut off the album called The Dealer in early August.

Also, Fleetwood Mac have reportedly finished eight songs for what could shape up to be the band’s first studio album since Say You Will in 2003. The songs are coming at a good time as the band is preparing for their first tour in 17 years with all five prime members of Fleetwood Mac. The scheduled tour is called “On With the Show.”

What makes the reunion even more special is that Christine McVie is back with Fleetwood Mac after a 15 year hiatus. She had left the band due to a fear of flying.

  • Shailene Woodley Thinks Parents Need to Chill When it Comes to Miley Cyrus

Shailene Woodley thinks parents really need to chill when it comes to Miley Cyrus and her controversial antics.

In Vanity Fair‘s July cover story featuring Woodley, the Fault in Our Stars actress told the magazine she feels parents should focus on something really important like bullying rather than what Cyrus is up to.

In the end, Woodley believes Cyrus is just doing what Cyrus does, and it’s nobody’s business but her own.

“Miley isn’t rude or mean or cruel to anyone in her actions,” said Woodley. “She just does herself. And regardless of whether you agree with what she’s doing or not, it’s none of your business what she does. She’s not in the world doing mean things.”

Let’s check out Cyrus’ 4th of July weekend posts on Instagram.

“Why are all these parents or all these people freaking out about Miley being herself?” said Woodley. “If you don’t want your kids to watch it, you know, you can change that situation at home, but don’t make a big deal of what she’s doing. Make a big deal about the bullies at school who are beating kids up.”

Woodley also offered a shoutout in the cover story to another strong woman, Fleetwood Mac’s Stevie Nicks.

“Her music has sort of been throughout my entire life. [Fleetwood Mac] was always a part of something I listened to. And I also just love sort of who she is and that there’s no one in the world like Stevie Nicks. She was never the next anything. She was the first and only Stevie Nicks, and she was brave and she was strong, and she was her, no matter what that meant. She was her.”

Gotta give Woodley credit. She knows her mind and is not afraid to speak out on behalf of women, their choices and originality.

  • Fleetwood Mac Reunion: Stevie Nicks Ready to Roll

Fleetwood Mac was a band long before Stevie Nicks and Lindsay Buckingham signed on. In fact, they had released nine albums before then. But there is no doubt that their best work was with that lineup: Mick Fleetwood on drums, John McVie on bass — that would be the “Fleetwood” and “Mac” in the name — with John’s then-wife Christine McVie on piano and vocals, Lindsay Buckingham on guitar and vocals, and Stevie Nicks on vocals … and tambourine.

The group recorded their self-titled album, then Rumours, Tusk, Mirage, and Tango in the Night. Then Buckingham left in 1987. He came back in 1997, but Christine McVie left, ostensibly because she had a fear of flying and did not like to tour.

But now the whole “classic lineup”, as it is called, is heading back out together, which puts those great harmonies back together again.

Stevie Nicks recently received an Icon Award from BMI, one of the groups that manages music rights in the United States. On that occasion, Nicks talked about going back out on the road with the full lineup. She said Christine McVie had told her she wanted to tour with the band again.

“I’m like, ‘Well, you’ve convinced us over 16 years that you were never coming back. You finally, actually convinced us. So, are you kidding?’” Nicks said

    McVie was totally serious.

“And I said, ‘Well, Chris, have you seen us in concert lately? Because you should see us, because it’s very physical,” Nicks said. “It’s almost three hours, and you kind of have to be an athlete. So, get a trainer.’ And she did! She did, totally!”

The tour kicks off September 30 in Minneapolis and will span 33 cities.

Christine McVie had joined the band onstage at the O2 Arena in London in September of 2013 for a performance of “Don’t Stop”, a song that she penned and sang on. It was considered a one-off. But the bug must have bitten McVie again.

Back then she had said, “I like being with the band, the whole idea of playing music with them,” she said. “I miss them all. If they were to ask me I would probably be very delighted … but it hasn’t happened so we’ll have to wait and see.”

Christine’s ex-husband, bassist John McVie, had been diagnosed with cancer, but they caught it early and he will be with the “classic lineup”.

  • Stevie Nicks: The Gypsy You May Not Know

Lately we’ve brought you a few different bits of news about Stevie Nicks. First of all, she performed on the AMAs with Lady Antebellum, bringing a little bit of class to the self-congratulatory proceedings of that event. Also, she will be touring with the “classic” (not original) lineup of Fleetwood Mac, along with friend Christine McVie.

Stevie Nicks has been a household word ever since the Fleetwood Mac album in 1975. Of course, she had an album with then-boyfriend Lindsey Buckingham before that. But there is more to the “Welsh witch” than most people may know.

For example, Stevie Nicks and Prince have a musical connection. Stevie Nicks once called up Prince and told him that she was writing as song that she wrote while listening to “Little Red Corvette”, and that she was going to give him 50% of it. That song became “Stand Back” and was a hit.

Then Prince called her up and wanted to do a song with her. He sent her a demo instrumental to write lyrics to. Nicks was so intimidated by the song that she sent it back and told him she couldn’t do it. That song ended up becoming “Purple Rain”.

Stevie Nicks has soft spot for and does a lot to help wounded American soldiers. Back before it became vogue to do so, she would visit Walter Reed Hospital and give out hundreds of free iPod Nano players loaded with music, sitting with soldiers, listening to their stories.

Stevie Nicks had a really bad addiction to cocaine. But she checked herself into the Betty Ford Clinic and kicked her addiction. She once said in an interview:

“I saw how [Janis Joplin and Jimi Hendrix] went down, and a part of me wanted to go down with them…but then another part of me thought, I would be very sad if some 25-year-old lady rock and roll singer ten years from now said, ‘I wish Stevie Nicks would have thought about it a little more.’ That’s kind of what stopped me and made me really look at the world through clear eyes.”

Nicks is now 65, clean and sober, about to start a tour with the band she helped put on the map in the U.S.

  • Idris Elba Will Perform At Glastonbury Festival

It will probably come as a shock to most people who do not follow Idris Elba’s career incredibly closely, but he also operates as a musician, and will be appearing at the Glastonbury Festival in 2014.

Idris Elba is mostly known for his acting, and he was most recently seen in the Academy Award-nominated film Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom in the role of Nelson Mandela.

In a much different type of role, he will be making his debut at the 2014 Glastonbury Festival, which is located near Somerset, England. The music festival will take place this summer between, and last from June 27th to June 29th.

Joining several other big time music acts, Idris Elba will be DJing, as well as introducing fans to his skills as a rapper. The Glastonbury Festival is filled with plenty of musical acts that could give American festivals such as Bonnaroo a run for their money.

It has a huge lineup that includes acts such as The Black Keys, Arcade Fire, Robert Plant, Dolly Parton, and many more. Jack White will also be appearing, who has recently began a fresh start with a solo career, and will be releasing his second solo album in June.

Many more acts are still set to be announced, and there have even been rumors surrounding a possible appearance from Fleetwood Mac, who just announced a tour following the re-introduction of one of their founding members, Christine McVie.

Idris Elba said that he would be DJing at the festival during an interview with Spotify, and also said that despite his growing film career, spinning records is what gives him his biggest thrill. He has already performed at Ibiza Rocks, and Liverpool’s Creamfields.

  • Fleetwood Mac Reunites For Epic Tour

Fleetwood Mac fans/all sane persons rejoice: the band is back together. The lineup that created legendary rock album Rumours will be embarking on a 33-city tour across North America in September. The aptly titled “On With The Show” tour will be singer/keyboardist Christine McVie’s first tour with the band in 15 years.

McVie last reunited with her former band mates in September 2013 at several performances in London, sparking gossip that she would be making a permanent return to the fold. The band’s publicist, Liz Rosenburg, confirmed this in January. “[McVie] has indeed re-joined Fleetwood Mac and we are hoping to make an announcement about a possible tour for the full tilt Macsters some time in 2014,” Rosenberg said.

Fleetwood Mac announced the tour on Thursday on a segment of the TODAY show. McVie gives a fear of flying as her reason for abandoning the touring lifestyle. “I hadn’t flown for 15 years,” McVie said. But when asked about her performances with the band this past fall, she said, “Walking out in London was sensational.” The other members of the band were equally emotional. “I had to get the Kleenex out,” said John McVie.

This wouldn’t be the first time Christine McVie made John McVie weep. The former couple, along with band mates Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks, were all known for their tumultuous romantic life as much as their brilliant songwriting and the palpable, perpetual love/hate cycle between the couples is what made their music so appealing. Over the years, the waters have calmed (at least between the McVies), and it remains to be seen if the band can consistently summon the Rumours-era magic on stage. For Fleetwood Mac fans (Macsters?), it won’t matter — if they can get up there and model top hats without killing each other (whether or not they kill each other, Stevie Nicks had better be wearing a top hat), it will be a scintillating success.

The “On With The Show” tour commences in Minneapolis on September 30th at the Target Center, and includes a live televised performance on October 9th at the Rockefeller Center as part of TODAY’s Summer Concert Series. The tour concludes on December 20th in Tampa. Tickets will be on sale to the public on April 7th.

  • Leighton Meester Covers Fleetwood Mac Beautifully

Leighton Meester has built up quite a fan base from her time on “Gossip Girl”, but some may not know that she’s also a very talented musician. The actress teamed up with Dana Williams recently for a lovely cover of Fleetwood Mac’s “Dreams” which will have you singing it all day.

The song features percussion by Maxwell Drummey and beautiful harmonies between the two ladies, who both play guitar. Dana’s EP The Lonely One is now available.

Meester made headlines earlier this year when it was announced that she had married longtime beau Adam Brody in a private ceremony; the actress had said as recently as 2012 that she wasn’t sure she wanted to get married, so the news came as a surprise to fans of both actors.

The actress said she didn’t have her first boyfriend until she was 18 and was never concerned about such things because she had bigger worries; namely, a mom who was in jail.

“I couldn’t relate to kid stuff — ‘Jimmy doesn’t like me!’ Who cares? I was worried we didn’t have gas money or food,” Meester said. “Those were my concerns….I never had a boyfriend until I was 18. It’s nice, I guess – when you like them. But it isn’t the most important thing. I’m not sure I ever want to get married. The only time a relationship is good is when you really love them. I don’t want to hang out with some guy I just like.”

  • Christine McVie Rejoins Fleetwood Mac for North American Tour

Christine McVie is rejoining Fleetwood Mac after having left 16 years ago, and the band plans to begin their North American On With the Show tour in September, the musician confirmed in an appearance with the band in a pre-taped appearance that aired on the Today Show Thursday.

When asked if she was rejoining the band, McVie didn’t hesitate. “I think that can be said with a definite capital ‘Yes,’” she said.

“FLEETWOOD MAC IS BACK…IN FULL…” the group also announced on its official website.

“The tour will kick off on Tuesday, Sept. 30 in Minneapolis, Minn. at the Target Center and the reunited band will perform 34 shows in 33 cities across North America,” the veteran band’s website said.

She did, however, join the band onstage in London late last fall to sing their well-known hit, Don’t Stop.

McVie, a singer and keyboardist, has not toured with the band since their 1998 The Dance Tour. For the first time since then, the band will be touring in entirety, with members Lindsay Buckingham, Stevie Nicks, Mick Fleetwood, McVie, and John McVie, Christine’s ex-husband.

Christine McVie joined Fleetwood Mac in 1970, when guitarist Peter Green left the band. She was married to John McVie at the time.

McVie, 70, also revealed for the first time a reason she stopped touring with the group years ago.

“I had a fear of flying,” she told the Today Show.

“I hadn’t flown for 15 years,” McVie continued.

“I honestly could never in my wildest dreams have thought I could return to the band. It’s just a dream come true,” she told People.

“I go to bed going, ‘This is so great. This is what I’ve been yearning for all these years and I didn’t know it.’ We’re family. We’re very lucky,” McVie explained.

Fleetwood Mac’s On with the Show tour kicks off in September. The band will be making stops in cities across the United States and Canada, including a performance on the Today Show Oct. 9.

  • Christine McVie Officially Rejoins Fleetwood Mac, Sets North American Tour

After she performed with them briefly last year, Christine McVie will officially be a member of Fleetwood Mac again. The original band is finally reunited after many years without one of their founding members.

Christine McVie left the famous group 15 years ago, and will finally be able to go on a full tour with them again. The classic-era lineup will launch the 34-date/33-city tour in September, and it will be billed as the “On With Show Tour.”

It was revealed that the group’s former keyboardist/singer would be rejoining months ago, but this is the first news of an official tour that would feature her along for the ride with her former band.

It will be the first time that McVie has been on tour with Fleetwood Mac since 1998, during a tour in promotion of their album “The Dance.” In addition to McVie being a part of the group again, the full lineup includes Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, Lindsey Buckingham, and Stevie Nicks, the most well-known of the group.

Fleetwood Mac announced their first tour with Christine McVie back in the band on NBC’s The Today Show on Thursday morning. The tour will begin in Minneapolis on Sept. 30 before hitting most major markets through the end of the year. They are set to play at The Today Show on October 9th, and will hit Madison Square Garden on October 6th.

The band is glad to have one of their founding members back, and as Stevie Nicks said on the show, “She had us all seriously convinced that she would never come back.”

Chrstine McVie finally revealed her reason for leaving the band during the interview as well, and as something that may seem odd to many people, she said it was due to her fear of flying, and she had not flown in 15 years.

While the announcement of their 2014 tour was not announced until now, it had been rumored that she was rejoining after she got back together with the band for one song in September of 2013 to sing “Don’t Stop,” which was done in a performance in London. Following that, she declared that she wanted to return to Fleetwood Mac in November.

Since Christine McVie left the group in 1998, Fleetwood Mac has only released one studio album, “Say You Will.” She was responsible for writing hit songs such as “Don’t Stop,” “Say You Love Me,” “Little Lies,” “Hold Me,” and “You Make Loving Fun.”

Tickets for the upcoming tour with Fleetwood Mac and Christine McVie will go on sale on March 31. Since it has been 15 years since the group has performed in the original lineup, tickets will likely go fast, and those that want to make sure they see them live should get tickets as soon as possible.

  • Stevie Nicks, Fleetwood Mac Prepare For Reunion Tour

It’s been 17 years since the five prime members of Fleetwood Mac went on tour together. That will all change this fall when the classic rock band plans to hit the road for a reunion tour they’re calling, “On With the Show.”

Although Stevie Nicks has teamed up with different members of the band over the past two decades, Christine McVie hasn’t toured with Fleetwood Mac in 15 years. Guitarist Lindsey Buckingham recently said, “It’s like she never left.”

McVie joined Fleetwood Mac in 1970. She played keyboards and also sang. Additionally, she wrote several of the band’s most popular hits including Don’t Stop, Everywhere and Little Lies.

McVie, 70, said that she stopped touring with the band because of her fear of flying and hasn’t flown in 15 years. She’s a bit worried about the possible rust but doesn’t think it will be a factor, “There were times I didn’t touch a piano for months. There were dry spells, but I’m not worried about it. The chemistry is great. Obviously, I’ve got to relearn all those songs to get my muscle memory working.”

We could also hear some new tunes on the upcoming tour. The band is even working on a possible new album. Buckingham likes what he’s heard so far. “We’ve only been in the studio a week, and it’s been really beautiful. I have very high hopes for all of this. It took getting into the studio before we started to see things unfold in an effective and comfortable way. Christine was not sure how her voice was going to be. It will be a little bit of a slow process with her piano chops. But all the stuff inside her is still intact, and she’s getting in touch with a process that’s been lying dormant for a while.”

  • Stevie Nicks Would Love to Write Music for Game of Thrones

In a recent interview with the UK’s Radio Times, singer-songwriter Stevie Nicks said she’d love to write some music for HBO’s award-winning Game of Thrones series.

Nicks told Craig McLean that watching the series helped her through a particularly difficult time in her life. Nicks’ mother died in December 2011 and not long after, Nicks came down with pneumonia.

“I didn’t leave the house for almost five months … with my pneumonia and my mother’s death I watched the entire first season of Game of Thrones. That certainly took my mind off everything,” Nicks said.

The show is adapted from George R.R. Martin’s epic fantasy novel series A Song of Ice and Fire. The series currently consists of five books, the first of which is titled Game of Thrones.

Season Four premieres on April 6, and the television series is quickly catching up to the novels. Martin says he feels the pressure to finish the sixth novel Winds of Winter.

“It is great that so many people are eager for the next book and certainly these are the people who are paying my bills and allowing me to have a house across the street from my other house. But at the same time, sometimes I just wish they would stop pressuring me about it. It will be done when it’s done. I’m working on it. I don’t know what else I can say: I’m a slow writer, I’ve always been a slow writer, and these are gigantic books.”

The skill it takes to create the story behind the HBO series isn’t lost on Nicks:

” … how in the world does somebody come up with these 15 or so characters and then everything that’s wrapped around each one of the 15 characters? It blows my mind that he’s able to create this vast, interlinked world. As a songwriter I write little movies. But I can’t imagine sitting down and writing even one small book, a novel. We each have our thing that we’re really good at.”

Nicks revealed that she’s written a poem for each Game of Thrones character, including her current favorite Khaleesi, who is played by British actress Emilia Clarke.

In the meantime, Nicks is keeping busy with several projects. She spent much of 2013 touring with Fleetwood Mac, released a documentary DVD titled In Your Dreams, and guest starred in Season Three of American Horror Story: Coven.

  • Stevie Nicks Wants To Write For “Game of Thrones”

Fleetwood Mac’s Stevie Nicks is known for her penchant to write memorable lyrics as well as her rhythmic voice. However, even this gifted performer can marvel at other talented artists and their work. Nicks has recently admitted to being a Game of Thrones fan, and has even gone as far as to express her desire to create music for the show. Nicks recently spoke with Radio Times magazine.

“I would love to write some music for the show. I’ve written a bunch of poetry about it — one for each of the characters. On Jon Snow… on Arya… on Cersei… on Cersei and Jaime, the blonde on blonde… on Khaleesi… I’m always looking for that kind of inspiration, and I’m very inspired by it — as I was very inspired by Twilight,” she said.

The legendary rock performer spoke about her admiration for author George RR Martin, who is the mastermind behind the successful television show. “The guy who wrote these stories is my age now, and I think: how in the world does somebody come up with these 15 or so characters and then everything that’s wrapped around each one of the 15 characters? It blows my mind that he’s able to create this vast, interlinked world. As a songwriter I write little movies. But I can’t imagine sitting down and writing even one small book, a novel. We each have our thing that we’re really good at.”

Though many are excited with the prospect of the singer’s professed interest and potential involvement with the Thrones phenomenon, this is not the first time fans have been treated to news of Nicks interest in a particular television show. The popular musician has already made an appearance on American Horror Story: Coven, much to the delight of her fans.

  • Stevie Nicks Expresses Interest in “Game of Thrones”

Stevie Nicks has already expressed her deep admiration for the HBO hit fantasy drama television series Game of Thrones.

Now, she’s revealed that she desires to go beyond the realm of simple viewership.

In a recent interview with the U.K.’s Radio Times magazine, the Fleetwood Mac singer-songwriter revealed that she would actually love to write for the hit series.

“I would love to write some music for the show. I’ve written a bunch of poetry about it — one for each of the characters,” Nicks said. “I’m always looking for that kind of inspiration, and I’m very inspired by the show — as I was very inspired by ‘Twilight.’”

She also shed light on what prompted her personal admiration for the show, revealing that she began tuning in following her mother’s death. “I didn’t leave the house for almost five months. And then I got pneumonia. With my pneumonia and my mother’s death, I watched the entire first season of ‘Game of Thrones.’ That certainly took my mind off everything.”

Games of Thrones premiered on HBO in April of 2011. The show, which the publication refers to as a “real-life phenomenon,” has garnered mainstream success, averaging approximately 11.6 million viewers per episode, making it the second-most viewed series in HBO history.

Based off the epic fantasy novel series A Song of Ice and Fire, the HBO colossal production has also garnered numerous accolades including a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Drama Series for all three seasons, a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series, and a Golden Globe Award nomination for Best Television Series – Drama.

Game of Thrones is just about ready to begin its fourth season, which is scheduled to premiere on Sunday, April 6, 2014.
