T-Mobile Providing Free 5G to First Responders

T-Mobile has launched ‘Connecting Heroes,’ a program to deliver free iPhones and 5G to first responders.

The company is making an effort to support first responders that often have to choose between buying phones and devices, vs life-saving equipment. To help ease their financial burdens, T-Mobile has committed to providing them a free iPhone SE, or half the cost of a flagship phone, as well as free service with 5G access for 10 years.

“When we’re at our most vulnerable, first responders are there for us … and they are under more pressure today than ever before. Connecting Heroes is one way we’re saying ‘thank you’ in this critical time,” said Mike Sievert, CEO of T-Mobile. “People who save lives shouldn’t have to choose between life-saving equipment and wireless service. And with Connecting Heroes, they won’t have to. We’re not limiting this program to a few months or a year … first responders can get free service including 5G access, for a full decade. THIS is the kind of impact the new T-Mobile can have in the world. THIS is the kind of difference we can make.”

The company’s commitment is a substantial one. It’s estimated that if all first responder agencies take advantage of T-Mobile’s offer, it will save them some $7.7 billion.

It’s nice to see T-Mobile continuing its Un-carrier culture following its merger with Sprint. With the added size, subscriber base, revenue and resources the merger provided, we can’t wait to see what the magenta carrier does next.

  • Jessica Chambers Spoke To First Responders Before She Died

The hunt for suspects in the Jessica Chambers murder case continues. Chambers, 19, was burned alive by unknown assailants. A murder investigation has been launched in Panola County, Mississippi due to the unusual nature surrounding Chambers’ death. According to reports, Chambers was able to talk to first responders before she died and that she used her last words to describe her killer. However, what she said to the paramedics have not been revealed to the public.

Chambers was found on a road in Courtland after firefighters received reports of a burning car. When firefighters and paramedics arrived at the scene, they saw Chambers walking down the road covered in flames.

Ben Chambers, Jessica’s father, talked to WDBD-TV about what happened. “They squirted lighter fluid down her throat and in her nose, and apparently they knocked her out,” Mr. Chambers, who works as a mechanic for Panola County Sherriff’s Department, said. “She had a big gash on top of her head. When the fire department got there, she was walking down the road on fire. The only part of her body that wasn’t burned was the bottom of her feet.”

A surveillance video was released of Jessica in a gas station 90 minutes before the incident. The footage shows Chambers waving to someone off camera and talking to them. According to convenience store manager Ali Fadhel, Chambers was a regular. During the night of the incident, he said he saw her talking to someone when she arrived and that she received a phone call on her way out of the store. Fadhel said that after she pumped gas, she re-entered the store to buy cigarettes and then she drove away.

Assistant District Attorney Jay Hale says he can’t comment on Fadhel’s statements. “We’re interviewing every possible witness. These witnesses certainly could be possible suspects,” he said.
