  • Here’s What’s New In Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD

Sony began the HD remaster trend with God of War Collection for PS3. At the time, it seemed developers were just content with upgrading the resolution of these older games and leaving it at that. Square Enix has proven it isn’t so lazy with its HD remasters of Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy X.

In the latest trailer for Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster, Square explains why it took them three years to upgrade the visuals of a decade-old game. It turns out that they upgraded and improved more than just the visuals as they added new content not found in the North American version of the game.

On top of the new features, they’ve also remixed the music, added trophies and included an audio drama. All of these new additions and features add up to create the definitive version of Final Fantasy X and X-2 for fans and newcomers alike.

  • Celebrate Valentine’s Day With This Romantic Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Trailer

Final Fantasy likes to dabble in romance from time to time with pairs like Squall and Rinoa or Locke and Celes. When it comes to romance in Final Fantasy, most fans will point to the relationship between Tidus and Yuna as their favorite though. With Valentine’s Day quickly approaching, that gives Square Enix an easy way out in advertising the impending release of Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster.

This morning, Square Enix released a new trailer for Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster called the Valentine’s Day trailer. Final Fantasy X is the main focus of this since Final Fantasy X-2 doesn’t really get into the romance stuff.

In the following minute and 44 seconds, you’ll get to see the pains Tidus goes to be with Yuna. The awkward laughs they shared, the stolen kiss from Seymour and Yuna’s realization that Tidus isn’t exactly what he seems. It’s all very heartbreaking. Go have yourself a cry with the trailer below:

  • Here’s What Comes In The Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Collector’s Edition

Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster will be making its North American debut in March. Until then, you’re going to have to decide which version of the game you want. Square Enix is making it harder for fans by offering two versions with one version only being made available via its online store.

In a new video, Square Enix revealed the contents of its upcoming collector’s edition for Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster. The collector’s edition is only available through Square Enix’ online store and features a 40 page artbook, a blu-ray disc with six hours of Final Fantasy X music, and five lithographs.

If you don’t want to shell out $80 for the admittedly slim pickings available in the collector’s edition, you can go for the limited edition that’s a free upgrade for all those who preorder the game from any retailer. While you miss out on the blu-ray music disc and lithographs, you get an artbook featuring content from both Final Fantasy X and X-2.

  • Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Gets A Collector’s Edition

Square Enix announced last month that its long-in-development HD ports of Final Fantasy X/X-2 would finally hit the PS3 in March. At the time, it also announced that the game would be receiving a limited edition. Now Square Enix is back with more news about a collector’s edition and the Vita editions of the game.

In a post on the PlayStation blog, Square Enix announced that Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD will launch on March 18 on both the PS3 and PS Vita. While the PS3 version of the game will come with both games on one disc, the Vita version will not. Instead, those who buy the handheld version will get a physical copy of Final Fantasy X and a download voucher for Final Fantasy X-2. The Vita version will support cross save functionality, and will retail for $40.

If you want even more out of your Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD experience, Square Enix is offering a collector’s edition that will be exclusively sold from its online store. The collector’s edition comes with the game, a full-size hardcover art book, five lithographs and a “visual soundtrack.”

Wait, what the hell is a visual soundtrack? Here’s how Square Enix describes it:

This isn’t your everyday soundtrack — it’s actually more than six hours of music set to images from the game that you can hit play on and be taken on a visual journey through some of Final Fantasy X’s most memorable moments. If you’ve ever wanted to share your love for the game with someone special, this would be a great way to do it.

If you want to snag the Collector’s Edition, it will only be available via the Square Enix online store for $80. You can find it here.

  • Final Fantasy X and X-2 HD Delayed to March

Over one million gamers are now enjoying next-gen games on their PlayStation 4. However, gaming experiences from past generations are still relevant, and Square Enix aims to prove it.

In addition to releasing the first five Final Fantasy games for mobile platforms, Square Enix earlier this year announced that it was close to releasing HD revamps of Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy X-2 for a re-release on PlayStation 3 and PS Vita. The titles were originally scheduled to be released sometime this winter. Today, Square announced that that the release of the HD remasters of these titles for PS3 have been pushed back until March 18. The publisher has provided no word on the Vita release of the games.

March 18 is just days before the release of the PlayStation 4 title Infamous: Second Son. March is also the launch month for other highly-anticipated games such as South Park: The Stick of Truth, Dark Souls II, and Titanfall.

Final Fantasy X HD Remaster includes all of the content from the original game updated with improved visuals. The game’s music has also gotten an upgrade, as have the game’s menus and battle interface.

Along with the release date announcement, Square Enix also released yet another trailer for the updated games. Where previous trailers have focused on the upgrades applied to the games, this one is pure nostalgia and focuses on the relationship between Tidus and Yuna throughout the two games:

  • TGS 2013: Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Trailer Reminds Us That It’s Still Coming Out This Year

For most publishers, HD remasters are a quick and dirty way to squeeze a bit of extra cash out of gamers’ nostalgia. Square Enix is unlike most publishers in this regard as its HD remasters are getting the love and attention that a brand new retail release would. That’s why it’s been working on Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD for almost two years now, but it’s release is nearly upon us.

At Tokyo Game Show 2013, Square Enix reminded us that its HD remaster of both Final Fantasy X and its sequel – Final Fantasy X-2 – were still on track for a 2013 release. The publisher also shared a new trailer that shows off more of the in-game events and the newly remastered FMVs. It should be noted that Square Enix didn’t bother to rerecord any lines for these games so you’re still stuck with the original performances that barely passed muster in 2001.

Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD will be released this winter on the PS3. The games will also be released separately on the PS Vita for those that want to take the games on the go. Unfortunately, cross buy is not an option so bust out those wallets if you intend to buy the games on both platforms.

  • Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Gets A Gamescom Trailer

Can you believe that it’s already been 12 years since the release of Final Fantasy X? It only just seems like yesterday that I was immensely disappointed that Square followed up the wondrous Final Fantasy IX with the good, but not as good, Final Fantasy X. Still, the game has millions of fans, and they’re waiting anxiously for the HD remaster coming out this year.

At Gamescom, Square Enix showed off a new trailer for Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD that shows off the newly arranged and remastered soundtrack that will accompany the title. The main difference between the two is that the new music has more instrumentation in the form of an accompanying electric guitar that wasn’t readily apparent in the original track.

The trailer also gives us a look at how the combat looks in Final Fantasy X HD. It looks like Square Enix changed up the battle UI to make everything look a lot sharper. They also revamped the turn order display to take up less space while still providing the same information.

There’s still no release date for Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD, but it will be out later this year on both the PS3 and PS Vita.

  • Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Comparison Video Released

Final Fantasy fans have been eagerly anticipating the HD remakes of Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy X-2 for a while now. However, a valid question is whether a graphical remake can justify replaying hundreds of hours of gameplay (including grinding out Blitzball and dodging those lightning strikes). Today, Square Enix began enticing JRPG fans with a few details and a demonstration of just how sharp the new visuals are.

The publisher today announced that pre-orders for the PlayStation 3 version of the game will come with a 24-page artbook full of concept art. The “upgrade” to this limited edition of the game is free for those who pre-order. In addition, Square Enix confirmed that the versions of Final Fantasy X/X-2 included in the HD remaster are the international versions of the game, which were only ever released in Europe and Japan.

For those who aren’t interested in new content or artbooks, a new trailer for the HD remaster was also released. It compares, side-by-side, the visuals in the original Final Fantasy X with the Final Fantasy X HD Remaster:
