  • X-Men: Days Of Future Past Trailer Out Now [Video]

The X-Men comics have been very popular for several decades and have already inspired several very big-budget films. X-Men: Days Of Future Past is the next film in the series, and fans of the franchise have more reason to get excited with the highly anticipated trailer being released this morning.

X-Men: Days Of Future Past is set to present fans a new type of X-Men film, which will combine the outstanding cast of the original trilogy with the cast of the 2011 prequel, X-Men: First Class.

Bryan Singer, who directed the original trilogy will return to direct this film. It will also see the return of big name stars such as Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, Ian Mckellen, and more.

X-Men: Days Of Future Past will feature a Back To The Future-type plot, where the mutants are forced to go back in time, and as a result they meet their younger selves, played by the actors who appeared in the previous film, including Michael Fassbender as Magneto, James McAvoy as Charles Xavier, and Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique.

When the mutants are faced with their unfortunate fates in the present-day, Xavier is forced to join forces once again with his enemy Magneto, enlisting Wolverine to help them go back in time, and save the mutant species in the future. The mutant bunch returns to the mid-1960s, following the events that occurred in X-Men: First Class.

Everyone’s favorite X-Men characters will be returning including Storm, Rogue, and Beast. In addition, they will be joined by Peter Dinklage, who will play a military scientist, creating robots called Sentinels. He will play the villain in the film who is tasked with hunting down and killing the mutants.

X-Men: Days Of Future Past is set to be released on May 23, 2014.

A total of four new mutants to the film franchise can be seen in the trailer, which should be exciting for fans of the comic books. Can you spot them all?

  • Netflix Releases Latest Documentary Acquisition, The Award-Winning ‘BrideGroom’

Earlier this month, Netflix announced that it had acquired BrideGroom, an award-winning documentary about two gay men – Tom and Shane – whose relationship was cut short when one of them died in a tragic accident.

The film is now available to stream, and Netflix has posted this trailer:

BrideGroom won the Audience Awards for Best Documentary at the 2013 Tribeca Film Festival, the 2013 Toronto Inside Out Festival and the 2013 Little Rock Film Festival, as well Outstanding Documentary Feature at the 2013 Outfest in LA.

“Tom and Shane were each other’s first and only loves,” said writer/director Linda Bloodworth-Thomason. “They are devoted, hardworking, unassuming and funny. Each is from a small town and each, in his own way, is imbued with the best kind of small town values. They are, in fact, the sort of young people who hold within themselves the promise of America. And that is why I want to bring to life, on film, this real life Romeo and Romeo—so that all who condemn them, might come face to face with exactly what it is they are opposing.”

Netflix said earlier this year that it would be bringing more documentaries to its streaming service. Clearly, they’re making good on that promise.

  • Netflix Eyes Original Movies – ‘Big’ Ones That Would Pop Up the Same Day They Hit Theaters

Netflix Eyes Original Movies – ‘Big’ Ones That Would Pop Up the Same Day They Hit Theaters

Recently, Netflix content chief Ted Sarandos said that Netflix is going to double its spending on original content. And why wouldn’t they? Between House of Cards, Hemlock Grove, original comedy specials, and the surprise mega-hit Orange Is The New Black, Netflix is currently turning the content distribution model on its head. The original content blitz is working – in a big way. Netflix customers are sticking around specifically because of all of these exclusive shows. Why not push it as far as it will go?

Well, it looks like that’s exactly what Netflix is thinking. They’re thinking big. Not content with simply providing original TV series, Netflix may be on the way to producing big-budget movies – movies that would premiere on Netflix the same day they arrive in theaters.

Speaking at a recent event hosted by Film Independent, Sarandos pretty much confirmed that the company is strongly considering original films as their new project. We’re not talking small budget films, either. Netflix is already producing those in the form of exclusive comedy specials and documentaries. We’re talking big-time releases here.

Here’s the relevant soundbite from Sarandos, courtesy All Things D:

“What we’re trying to do for TV, the model should extend pretty nicely to movies. Meaning, why not premiere movies on Netflix, the same day they’re opening in theaters? And not little movies – there’s a lot of ways, and lot of people to do that [already]. Why not big movies? Why not follow the consumers’ desire to watch things when they want?”

My first reaction is…word. Why not give people what they want? Do people want to watch theatrical releases from the comfort of their own couches? You’re damn right they do. Or at least I do. You’ve gotta admit – it sounds like a logical move for Netflix. If they can produce the nearly 13 hours required of a season of House of Cards, a truly cinematic series in terms of scope, why not original, big-budget films? Netflix already has a working relationship with David Fincher and Kevin Spacey – what say we start there, huh?

But let’s not get ahead of ourselves. Sarandos and Netflix are talking about changing a rigid system that doesn’t really like to budge. Just what does Sarandos mean when he says “big” movies? Does he mean blockbusters? Some indie films are already available to view while they’re in theaters via cable providers. Is that what he’s talking about – something like that?

You probably shouldn’t hold your breath that you’ll be able to watch the third installment of The Hobbit in your PJs – that’s all I’m saying.

But from Sarandos’ own words, Netflix is eyeing original films. There’s nothing about this that should make you feel anything other than hopeful, and happy.

  • Christina Ricci Marries Her Longtime Boyfriend

Christina Ricci, an actress who jumped into the spotlight as some tend to do at an early age, has just wed her longtime boyfriend, James Heerdegen.

A representative of Ricci’s revealed the couple’s engagement in February after rumors had started to swirl around months before that.

She tied the knot with her fiance Heerdegen on Saturday, saying “I do” to one another on the Upper East Side in New York City.

The newlyweds were joined by close family friends in an intimate ceremony, choosing to not overdo the process as some celebrities like to do. NBC News mentions that following the ceremony, their guests were able to enjoy a cocktail hour, dinner, dessert, and dancing.

Ricci has appeared in several films and television shows throughout her career, beginning in 1990 with the film Mermaids. Her childhood career went on to include two Addams Family films and Casper. Since then, she has been several films of almost every genre, including Monster, and The Opposite of Sex, which she received a Golden Globe nomination for.

Christina Ricci recently starred in the short-lived series Pan-Am, when she met her husband in 2011. The series aired on ABC, and Heerdegen was a dolly grip on the show. While it is a term that is not thrown around too much in Hollywood, a dolly grip operator is a dedicated technician who is trained to operate the camera dolly. He has previously worked on more than 40 film and television productions, including Baby Mama and Nurse Jackie.

In 2012, Us Weekly revealed that Christina Ricci had a new man in her life, and introduced everyone to her new man, and talked about how the couple went to a fancy spa in Puerto Rico to celebrate their new romance.

In May, the 33-year-old actress revealed her big plans for the wedding including the dress she planned to wear, the caterer, and more. She also went into detail about the type of ceremony she wanted, revealing her idea of a smaller ceremony when saying “I’m excited to be with all my friends and family, and just have a lovely night.”

Christina Ricci is very excited about being a newlywed, and has also said that she wants to have children someday with her new husband. She is clearly excited about their new life that they will have together, and in the interview with US Weekly, she also said “He’s my favorite person on Earth.”

  • Tom Cruise Is Set To Star In “Go Like Hell”

Tom Cruise is set to team up with the director of Oblivion once again for an upcoming film called Go Like Hell. Cruise and director Joseph Kosinski worked together on the film Oblivion which opened earlier this year, receiving mixed reactions from critics as a summer blockbuster.

The new film will be presented by 20th Century Fox, and center on the world of racing. The film is based on the book Go Like Hell: Ford, Ferrari, And Their Battle For Speed And Glory At Le Mans, which was written by A.J. Baime.

The book tells the story of the decision by Henry Ford II when he went against Enzo Ferrari’s dominance on the Le Mans track in 1966.

Ford ended up challenging Ferrari with a car that was designed by Caroll Shelby, a racer-turned-car designer. Shelby will be played by Cruise in the film, and filming will begin after he finishes his work on Mission: Impossible 5.

Cruise has had an interesting career over the years, being scrutinized in the public eye first for his marriage to Nicole Kidman and then Katie Holmes, who he split up with just over a year ago. His involvement with Scientology has given him a lot of criticism as well.

In addition to his complicated personal life, he has had a successful career as a popular film star including several big-budget films, as well as his earlier hits such as Risky Business and Top Gun. His iconic role as Ethan Hunt in the Mission: Impossible series has also gained him much of his popularity. He is set to star in the upcoming thriller Edge of Tomorrow, which will be released on June 6, 2013.

Whether Go Like Hell will be another success for Tom Cruise or a flop like some of his others is still to be determined, however he has been in a racing film before, as many of his fans already know. Days of Thunder was very successful, with him playing a race car driver, and a supporting cast that included Robert Duvall and Randy Quaid.

While the new film from Tom Cruise will not be released any time soon, keep your eyes out for an exciting new film, in the future.

  • Tom Hardy As Elton John In New Biopic

Tom Hardy has been cast in the role of Elton John in the upcoming film called Rocketman. While it seems a bit soon to make a film about the man who is still making music, Hardy is the one who has been chosen with the honor of portraying the pop icon.

Hardy, who was most recently seen in the role of Bane in The Dark Knight Rises, has never been seen a role like this before. He will certainly have to significantly alter his appearance for the role, after bulking up to play the tough-looking Bane. His other notable films include Lawless and Warrior, a film where his co-star Nick Nolte was nominated for an Oscar.

Rocketman will be directed by Michael Grace, with a screenplay from Lee Hall, who was nominated for an Academy Award for his work on War Horse. The film is described as a movie musical spectacle, and will focus on John’s life story from child prodigy to musical superstar.

Tom Hardy portraying Elton John is an interesting casting choice to say the least. In defending the selection of Tom Hardy, Peter Schlessel, the CEO of Focus Features, said “We are confident that Tom will embody the physicality and spirit of Sir Elton. This, in conjunction with the creative team led by Michael and Rocket Pictures, will provide the foundation for something that will be a unique cinematic event.”

John is also set to re-recorded a number of his hit songs to align with the emotional beats of the film. Elton John, in addition to the song “Rocket Man” where the film gets its name, is known for such hits as “Bennie And The Jets” and “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road.”

In addition to the new Elton John biopic, Hardy is set to star in the Mad Max reboot, titled Mad Max: Fury Road.

The film is scheduled to begin shooting in the fall of 2014. The selection of Tom Hardy as Elton John is a surprise to many who were hoping for Justin Timberlake in the role, and even Elton himself had Timberlake high on his wish list for potential actors.

  • George Clooney’s New Film Is Moved To 2014

George Clooney’s new film, The Monuments Men, will have to wait until 2014 until it gets released in theaters. It was originally scheduled to be released around Christmas time, but now it appears as if the film was not completed in time, and it will be delayed. Clooney is the star of the film, as well as the co-writer and director.

The new and anticipated film, while originally given a release date of December 18, has been pushed back because the film’s visual effects were not able to be completed in time. It is presented by Sony pictures, and will be released early next year, with an unknown release date at this point.

Clooney wants the film to be the best it can be, and with less than stellar visual effects, it would not be the film that he wanted. In not being able to finish in time, he was quoted saying “We simply don’t have enough people to work enough hours to finish it.”

With the film being released in the early part of 2014, it also makes the film ineligible for consideration at the Academy Awards. However, Clooney has said that Oscar recognition was never a plan of his when deciding to make this film, which was based on Robert Edsel’s nonfiction book The Monuments Men: Allied Heroes, Nazi Thieves, and the Greatest Treasure Hunt in History.

In addition to Clooney, the film stars Matt Damon, Bill Murray, John Goodman, Jean Dujardin, and Cate Blanchett. The film was filmed in Germany and England. It centers around a group of art historians, museum curators, and academics who race to recover paintings and sculptures that were stolen by the Nazis.

George Clooney also seems to be a bit intimidated by the tough competition that is present in December of 2013, and while he may give the visual effects reason as the primary reason to move it, he also mentioned, “Then we looked at the date we had, December 18. I don’t know how many movies are opening, but it’s got to be the toughest December in recent memory for box office.”

For fans looking to catch the new film, you will now have to wait until at least February, but maybe that will just increase the anticipation and get people more excited to see the film.

Anchorman 2 Trailer: New Trailers Out Now [Video]

Anchorman 2 is one of those films that has been anticipated by fans of the first film for way too long, and now we are finally rewarded with the sequel nine years after the first film was released. Today, two new trailers were presented by Paramount, with new information to give fans a heads up of what to expect with the new film.

A ton of promotion has been done for the film already, including the first teaser trailer, which was launched in January. In addition, Will Ferrell recently launched several ads for the new Dodge Durango while in his character of Ron Burgundy, in order to advertise the new film.

As if the previous promotion was not enough, the film also revealed a new flavor of Ben and Jerry’s ice cream conveniently titled “Scotchy Scotch Scotch,” a nod to a famous quote of Ron Burgundy’s from the first film.

The sequel is titled Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues, and features all of the fan favorites from Anchorman including Will Ferrell, Paul Rudd, Steve Carrell, and David Koechner. In addition, female comedic superstars Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, and Kristen Wiig have all been brought on board fro the sequel, as well as a host of others. The full cast listing can be seen here.

This film will once again be directed by Adam McKay and will be co-written by McKay and Ferrell. Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues will be released on December 20, but you can get a sneak peek now.

It was recently announced that she will have the starring role in a new film called The Age of Adaline, after Katherine Heigl dropped out. Heigl dropped out for unknown reasons, after it was first reported that she was fired.

Lively will star opposite Ellen Burstyn in the upcoming romantic drama. She will play a beautiful woman who was born at the turn of the 20th century, and stops aging after a near-death accident. She then goes on a worldwide adventure throughout the century without revealing her big secret, until meeting a man who conveniently disrupts who she is.

There is no word yet on who will play the leading man who is able to change her character. However, Burstyn’s character will be very interesting, as she will play Lively’s daughter, who has aged into her 80s, while Lively’s character has remained at the age of 29. • The Grand Budapest Hotel Trailer Released [Video]

The Grand Budapest Hotel, already one of the most anticipated films of 2014, has finally released its long-awaited trailer. The Grand Budapest Hotel is the latest film from Wes Anderson, a big fan favorite. Anderson is known for reusing his favorite actors, and has gained a reputation for it, with this film being no different.

Wes Anderson‘s last film, Moonrise Kingdom was a huge hit, and was even nominated for Best Picture. Moonrise Kingdom also earned Anderson a nomination for Best Original Screenplay. In addition to his 2012 hit, he is very well-known as a director for his work on Rushmore, The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, and The Royal Tenenbaums, among others.

The new film is filled with an unbelievable amount of stars, including several of Anderson’s regulars including Bill Murray, Owen Wilson and Jason Schwartzman. This film also brings in several new actors that he has not used before such as Saoirse Ronan, Willem Dafoe, Jude Law and Harvey Keitel.

Anderson is known to take his viewers on an incredible cinematic journey that introduces us to new worlds, and in this film we are given the setting of a famous hotel in Europe. The main character in the film is M. Gustave (Ralph Fiennes), a hotel concierge who is accused of murdering an elderly madame (Tilda Swinton). There is also an art heist involving Gustave’s young protege (Tony Revolori).

Entertainment Weekly states that the trailer looks a little like the board game Clue, and demonstrates the slow-boiling intrigue of Downton Abbey. It also includes a signature of Anderson’s -obtaining the color saturation of a Vermeer painting.

  • Gillian Anderson And David Duchovny, More X-Files?

Gillian Anderson, along with her former co-star on the popular television series The X-Files, have said that they would open to the idea of doing another film. The pair have already teamed up for two films following the conclusion of the series, The X-Files and The X-Files: I Want To Believe, but it looks like the pair of actors might be wanting to give their fans more.

They got together on Saturday to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the series’ premiere. Anderson and Duchovny participated in a panel discussion at the Paley Center For Media as well as the Comic Con conference over the weekend, which both took place in New York. The actors spent a lot of time promoting the franchise over the weekend as well, a hint that maybe a movie will be in the near future for fans.

The show ran from 1993 until 2002, and Anderson played agent Dana Scully. Both she and agent Fox Mulder were agents of the FBI, but they had one key difference, the fact that Mulder was a believer of the paranormal and Scully was not. Together, they would investigate paranormal cases, which even led to alien conspiracies within the government. It was also rumored that the actors were a couple on the show, after much sexual tension throughout the franchise.

Gillian Anderson has also said that if fans want another film, then they should let their voices be heard. Duchovny also showed his support for the project when saying, “Gillian and I want to do it, so it’s really up to 20th Century Fox at this point.” The show was very popular during the time that it aired, and fans of the series should get excited for what is to come. The reception for the last film was disappointing, and many people felt that the franchise had lost its own plot.

The writer for the series, Chris Carter, has also expressed interest in the third film, despite legal issues that delayed the last film.

Upon Gillian Anderson’s suggestion, hopefully enough fans will make their voices heard, and allow the third film to be made. Who wouldn’t love to see another X Files film? In an age where much of the population likes to binge on Netflix watching, it is likely that the series has gained many fans since the release of their last two films as well.

  • Jamie Foxx Is In Talks To Play Martin Luther King Jr

Jamie Foxx is getting ready to test his acting skills once again as he prepares for a possible role as Martin Luther King Jr. While in the early stages of a new biopic film based on the life of Martin Luther King Jr., this is one that has been planned for a long time, but has never been able to get made.

It looks like the film will be one step closer to production after potentially casting Jamie Foxx in the project, and recently signing on Oliver Stone to direct.

Steven Spielberg’s production company, Dreamworks, and Warner Bros are also involved. Foxx and Stone have worked together once previously on the football film, Any Given Sunday. Oliver Stone is certainly no stranger to films of political material and with notable films like JFK and W, he is certain to have success with this project.

MLK was certainly a big figure in our nation’s history and it seem’s that with the 50th anniversary of his historic march on Washington speech, new momentum has picked up for the film. In addition to this film, there are two other projects planned around the civil rights leader, including Selma, focusing on another key protest led by King, and Memphis, a Paul Greengrass-scripted film about King’s final days.

Foxx has gained much popularity over the years through his work in film, television, and music. He also won over numerous critics and audiences everywhere with his role as Ray Charles in the 2004 film, Ray. He starred in Django Unchained in 2012, and most recently played the president in White House Down. Foxx is currently filming a reboot of the musical Annie with Quvenzhané Wallis, who was seen last year in Beasts of The Southern Wild.

What do you think of the casting? Would Jamie Foxx make the best MLK? Respond in the comments below.

If the role were to go to Jamie Foxx, he would likely gain a lot of attention from the role, just as he did with Ray, which he won an Oscar for. Kario Salem has written the script for the filmd and the King family has agreed to lend their support for the film. In 2009, Dreamworks acquired the rights to King’s story, along with the rights to his “I Have A Dream Speech.”

  • Charlie Hunnam Backs Out Of Fifty Shades Of Grey

Charlie Hunnam was set to play the lead role of Christian Grey in the upcoming film, Fifty Shades of Grey, but has since backed out. He made the announcement today that he would not follow through with the role, citing his busy television schedule as the main conflict of interest. Hunnam is currently the star of the FX series, Sons of Anarchy, which would cause complications with the filming of the new movie.

Sons of Anarchy is currently in its sixth season and will be shooting the season finale beginning on October 11, one day before the announcement from the studios came. The studios behind the film, Universal Pictures and Focus Features, made a statement regarding Hunnam’s casting when saying “The filmmakers of Fifty Shades of Grey and Charlie Hunnam have agreed to find another male lead given Hunnam’s immerse TV schedule which is not allowing him time to adequately prepare for the role of Christian Grey.”

According to US Weekly, Hunnam has never been a favorite for the role, and a petition was even drawn up after the casting occurred, as fans quickly demanded that Matt Bomer replace him. Dakota Johnson has been cast as the female lead in the film.

Fifty Shades of Grey was also a very popular book, and the casting of Charlie Hunnam originally puzzled many people. Women all over went crazy for the book, and it seemed to be almost as big as Twilight at one point. They seemed to want an actor who they were more familiar with, or someone thought of as more traditionally sexy. The film is based on E.L. James’ erotic novel about an inexperienced college student named Anastasia Steele, who is given a bit of a sexual education from billionaire Christian Grey.

He admitted to knowing that he would not have been the popular choice for the role in a recent cover story in Entertainment Weekly when he said “There are so many fans of that book and I know that on the surface, I’m probably not what everybody imagined.”

So what do others think about the decision? Any idea who should replace Hunnam? Weigh in with your opinions in the comments below.

Charlie Hunnam has been a fan favorite on the hit show Sons of Anarchy, but way before that he played the charming Lloyd on Judd Apatow’s short-lived series Undeclared. He has also been seen in several films including Children of Men and Pacific Rim. With Hunnam out, fans of the book will certainly have a fun time speculating on his replacement. Let’s just hope for their sake, that they get a better choice the next time around. The film will be released on August 1st, 2014.

  • Neil deGrasse Tyson Fact Checks Gravity Via Twitter

Neil deGrasse Tyson is well-known to most, but for those that do not know, he is an astrophysicist and like no others in his profession, he has achieved quite a celebrity type of status. Since he is an astrophysicist and big science geek, of course he had to rush out and see the new science and space related film, Gravity, featuring George Clooney and Sandra Bullock.

Tyson attacked the film for its scientific inaccuracies and seems to have spent much of his evening tweeting all of the things that he noticed that were wrong with the film. However, he did tweet a last tweet, assuring his followers that he did enjoy the film overall. Tyson knows that his followers are big science buffs and while he enjoyed the film, he was clearly just poking fun and having fun with his fans for much of this rant.

He vigorously maintains a twitter and Facebook page for all of his fans and fellow science geeks. In addition to his main page on Facebook, he also maintains an alternate page called Tysonism, which is categorized as a church/religious organization on the website. Tyson has also appeared on numerous television talk shows including Realtime With Bill Maher, The Daily Show With Jon Stewart, and The Colbert Report, to name a few. In addition to being an astrphysicist, he is also the director of the Hayden Planetarium at the American Musuem of Natural History in New York.

Tyson picks at several scientific inaccuracies in the film, despite his enjoyment of the film. As The National Post mentions, This begins with the basic fact that Bullock’s hair does not flow freely the way that it should in zero gravity, even though the rest of her body did. He also prefaced much of the tweets with the phrase “mysteries of Gravity” and continued to talk about things that would have worked differently in real life, and even suggested alternate titles based on what actually happened in the film. He also mentioned the irony of how most Americans seem to love to watch films like Gravity, but do not seem to care about what is actually going on with real astronauts in space.

Many others also flocked to theaters in order to see the space epic over the weekend and the film even set a record at the box office over the weekend, racking up $55.6 million, in the biggest debut ever for a release in October. It was predicted to be a big hit, but the science thriller directed by Alfonso Cuaron is certainly working over fans and critics after a very successful first weekend.

  • George Clooney Photobombs Seinfeld And Spielberg

George Clooney took upon himself to act like a complete goof when he made an epic photobomb in a picture of Steven Spielberg, Jerry Seinfeld and Seinfeld’s wife, Jessica. Clooney and his fellow photo members were attending the annual USC Shoah Foundation Gala in New York City. Clooney was being honored at the Gala, receiving the Ambassador For Humanity Award for his humanitarian work.

Steven Spielberg presented him with the award, and the event was hosted by comedian Jon Stewart. He was being honored for the work that he has been a part of in Haiti, Africa, and other parts of the world, as he continues to help those in need. Spielberg said of the award recipient, “George is the best kind of humanitarian. He is a humble humanitarian.”

Clooney recently appeared in the film Gravity alongside Sandra Bullock, which was directed by Alfonso Cuaron. Clooney and Bullock have been friends for a number of years, but Gravity marks the first time that the two have ever appeared on screen together.

There has been much speculation about their relationship and why the two have never been involved. Clooney said that he would not date her because she had once dated one of his friends, but that was in the past right? What is to stop them from dating now, after a 20 year friendship? Clooney was recently reported to have been seeing the Croatian model, Monika Jakisic.

In the picture, Clooney is holding up his hand and appears to be blocking the camera from flashing in his eyes, or maybe he was simply waving to someone, mentions E Online. He is also making one of his signature faces and being silly in the picture, a complete contrast to the smiling faces of the others in the picture.

Clooney was spotted heading in New York after a busy week promoting the new film. He attended the big premiere on Tuesday and did a ton of press for the film before its big release on October 4th. Gravity is a film about a medical engineer and an astronaut who work together to survive, after an accident leaves them drifting in space.

  • Parkland: A Film Surrounding JFK’s Assassination

Did you know that John F. Kennedy and Lee Harvey Oswald died in the same Dallas hospital? How about that the same doctor worked on both men?

The world was never the same after November 22, 1963, the day that President John F. Kennedy was assassinated. Since that time, we’ve heard a million conspiracy theories on who actually shot President Kennedy and we’ve rewatched the Zupruder film over and over again searching for some clue, perhaps for some explanation. There have also been numerous books, films and documentaries about that notorious day in American history.

    Parkland Zapruder

The docudrama “Parkland” was released in theaters today. Instead of being about possible conspiracies or the life of JFK, the film takes a fresh take on the assassination. The “cool” moments of the film are the many reveals of the interesting seldom talked about facts, like the ones above. “Parkland” is an adaptation of the book written by Vincent Bugliosi called “Four Days in November” which is a second by second account of the assassination.

The film was written and directed by Peter Landesman who chose to concentrate on the mayhem and hysteria surrounding Kennedy’s murder. The movie takes a page from the renowned Kurosawa film “Rashomon” in that we see the story from multiple points of view. What was it like in the ER (the film is named after the hospital where they took the President after he was shot) when Kennedy arrived? How did the city of Dallas respond to the tragedy? How did the Oswald family react? How did Zapruder morally feel about selling his film? What was the personal sentiment of your everyday American citizen?

There is no central character in the film. But the list of Hollywood heavy weights is impressive. First off, it was produced by Tom Hanks. Billy Bob Thornton, Zac Effron, Paul Giamatti, Marcia Gay Harden, Colin Hanks and Ron Livingston all play secondary characters. The reviews have been tepid for the film, as the popular site Rottentomatoes.com gave the film a 47% on its famous Tomatometer. Betty Sharkey, the film critic from “The Los Angeles Times” felt that the film had its interesting moments despite its imperfections. She wrote in her review, “What you never doubt are the intentions, to illuminate the ordinary, to find a way to make a historical event newly indelible. Parkland succeeds as it fails. For whatever its flaws, it is unforgettable.”

  • Netflix Acquires Award-Winning Documentary ‘BrideGroom’

Netflix said earlier this year that it would be bringing more documentaries and stand-up comedy specials to its service, and continues to make good on that promise.

Netflix announced today that it is has acquired BrideGroom, an award-winning documentary about two gay men – Tom and Shane – whose relationship was cut short when one of them died in a tragic accident.

The film has won a great deal of critical acclaim and awards, including the Audience Awards for Best Documentary at the 2013 Tribeca Film Festival, the 2013 Toronto Inside Out Festival and the 2013 Little Rock Film Festival. It also won Outstanding Documentary Feature at the 2013 Outfest in LA.

Former President Bill Clinton has commented on the film, saying, “This is really, on one level, a wonderful, sad, heartbreaking yet exhilarating and life affirming story, and on another level, it’s a story about our nation’s struggle to make one more step in forming a more perfect union, for which marriage is both the symbol and substance.”

Writer/director Linda Bloodworth-Thomason said, “Tom and Shane were each other’s first and only loves. They are devoted, hardworking, unassuming and funny.

Crone, who is one of the film’s producers, said, “BrideGroom is not about revenge or politics. It is a film about love, forgiveness, and about finding the courage to be who you are when the world says you shouldn’t. This is my fairy tale, and Tom is, and always will be, my happy ending.”

The film will be available to Netflix subscribers on October 27th. It has a rating of 8.6 on IMDB.

  • Sal Mineo, James Franco’s New Film, Debuts Trailer

Sal, the new film from James Franco, has just released its first trailer. The film will be a biopic about the actor Sal Mineo, who’s most well-known performance was when he appeared in the 1955 film, Rebel Without A Cause. Many people might have overlooked his performance with the standout performances given by both James Dean and Natalie Wood in the film, but Mineo was actually nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his part in the film.

James Franco has been racking up all sorts of credits lately and has turned to being a director, in an effort to seem more artsy in the industry maybe? In any case, he has been very busy and in addition to this project, he is also working on adapting novels by both Cormac McCarthy and William Faulkner, according to Entertainment Weekly. He is adapting McCarthy’s Child of God and As I Lay Dying by Faulkner.

The biopic will focus on the end of Mineo’s life, who was also a homosexual, and was one of the first major Hollywood actors to publicly acknowledge his homosexuality. He was born in the Bronx and was enrolled in dancing and acting school at a young age. He had his first stage appearance in The Rose Tattoo, a play by Tennessee Williams and also appeared opposite Yul Brynner in the stage musical The King And I. Mineo was stabbed and killed at the age of 37. Mineo rose to fame at a young age as a teen idol, much like his co-star James Dean, but was never recognized in the same way.

Franco’s biopic about the legendary actor is simply titled Sal and will focus on the end of his life. Deadline Hollywood mentions that the film follows Mineo in his final hours as he struggles to regain career momentum. He was on the way home from a rehearsal for the play P.S. Your Cat Is Dead, on the night that he died. The film stars Val Lauren as Sal. Tribeca Films will release the film on VOD and itunes on October 22, with a limited theatrical run on November 1st.

James Franco will also play a small role in the film, portraying director Milton Katselas. The film is finally being released to the public, after its original premiere at the Venice Film Festival in 2011.

  • Cate Blanchett Is Already Being Looked At For Oscars

Cate Blanchett is being eyed for the prized Oscar statue already for her role in Blue Jasmine. She shined in the role of Jasmine Francis in the film, from veteran director Woody Allen. Critics all over the country loved her in the role and she played a character that was very typical of Allen’s films, a socialite from New York City who is very into herself.

Finding it hard to adjust after the death of her husband and the fortune that he took with him after their divorce, Jasmine turns to her sister Ginger, played by Sally Hawkins, who she neglected years ago. She moves across the country to live with her in San Francisco, but continues to struggle with finding success in her life. Jasmine becomes depressed and addicted to pills early on in the film, trying to maintain her appearance of wealth, but the truth is slowly revealed, as stated by BBC News. Blanchett is all but guaranteed a Best Actress nomination, and is likely to win the award as well. She has been nominated for Best Actress three times previously, but has never won the award before.

According to a review published in The Guardian, Blue Jasmine is a late triumph, if not a late masterpiece and Blanchett gives an electrical charge to this minor-key drama. Blanchett’s performance was impressive and as a very experienced actress, she is able to hold her own with anyone in a film and does an excellent job in Allen’s new picture. The critic, Peter Bradshaw, also called the film pure movie-going pleasure.

Julie Delpy may have some competition for Blanchett so far for her role in Before Midnight, but other than that, she has yet to be given to big of a challenge. Although Blanchett has never won an award for Best Actress in a leading role, she did win a Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her portrayal of Katharine Hepburn in The Aviator. Fans can expect to hear Blanchett’s name being called a number of times during the upcoming awards season, and she certainly deserves it for her the excellent job that she did under the direction of Woody Allen. In order to keep up with her potential award possibilities and to follow other award news, check out Awards Daily for everything involving the movies and those that are predicted to get nominations.

Blanchett will also be appearing in The Monuments Men, which will be released on December 18.

  • Vanessa Hudgens’ Latest Film Hits Theaters In 2014

Vanessa Hudgens’ Latest Film Hits Theaters In 2014

Vanessa Hudgens is set to star in a new movie called Gimme Shelter, with a national release date of January 24, 2014. In advance of the Hartland Film Festival’s world premiere of the film, Roadside Attractions has aquired U.S. rights to the drama from director Ronald Krauss. She is a 24 year old actress and singer.

Hudgens orginated as a Disney star, similar to Miley Cyrus and others, but since appearing on the kids network, she has done the most to get rid of her clean and innocent looking image. While her fellow Disney stars were trying to stay popular with their young fans, she had already gotten herself involved with a nude-photo scandal after scandalous pictures of her leaked on the internet. On Disney, she starred in the High School Musical film franchise, but soon she was seen in films like Sucker Punch and Beastly, which were not kid-friendly in any sense.

The Los Angeles Times mentions that just in the past year, she has been seen as a concubine, a bikini-clad party animal and a runaway stripper. She was in Spring Breakers, where she spent most of her time in a bikini, accompanying James Franco, who plays a pimp named Alien. She has high hopes and goals that stretch way beyond her former Disney co-stars as she aspires to have a career like Meryl Streep’s one day and wants to win an Oscar. She may not get all that, but she is certainly on the right track, and doing more positive things than others around her age. She talked of her acting goal and said that “it is why I’m very picky about what I do, and I make sure I’m not doing the same thing over and over.” She certainly does vary her roles and appear in all sorts of films.

For her latest film, Gimme Shelter, Hudgens has transformed herself physically and spending two weeks living in a shelter as research for the role. The film is based on a true story that centers on 16 year old Agnes Bailey, played by Hudgens. It works to uncover the struggle for survival and a hope for redemption through her life on the streets. After she gets pregnant as a teenager, Agnes’ journey forces her into a perilous struggle before finding salvation from a suburban shelter for homeless teens, mentions Deadline.

The film is inspired by a David and Goliath true story of Kathy DiFiore’s longstanding Several Sources Shelters. In what sounds like a very inspirational drama, the real life Difore even worked closely with Mother Teresa in order to change the shelter laws in New Jersey. Difore is played by Ann Dowd in the film, who appeared in the Indie drama Compliance in 2012.
