  • Felicity Jones: Details On Her Role In ‘Star Wars: Rogue One’ Revealed

The recently concluded Star Wars Celebration has given Star Wars and Felicity Jones fans new hope.

The 4-day celebration of everything Star Wars opened with the teaser for Star Wars: The Force Awakens and concluded with news that teased about Star Wars: Rogue One.

While it has long been confirmed that Jones will be starring in the first of the Star Wars “anthology films”, very little information has been given about it. Until last Sunday’s teaser video and short panel discussion, that is.

Director Gareth Edwards confirmed the movie is set in the tumultuous times between Episode III: Revenge of the Sith and Episode IV: A New Hope – when the Jedi Knights were all but extinct and the Emperor is already tightening the noose around other confederate planets.

The plot revolves around a group of rebel soldiers who are out to steal the plans for the Death Star, a critical mission that fueled the events in Episode IV. Jones is slated to play the rebel soldier who leads the heist.

Edwards said during the conference that “the absence of Jedi is omnipresent” in the film and the idea that this group of fighters are just ordinary soldiers, without light sabers or the ability to call on the Force, is what makes the story compelling.

And it’s also what made Jones perfect for the role. She’s the “complete package” according to the erstwhile Godzilla director.

“We wanted to see fear, warmth, all those aspects that everybody has,” he said, adding that people will see Jones’ character not just as a soldier, but also as a complex individual.

The actress is on a roll right now. After her heartbreaking portrayal of Jane Hawking in The Theory of Everything, Jones will be seen next in True Story, acting opposite Jonah Hill and James Franco.

  • Tatiana Maslany Robbed Of Star Wars Role

Tatiana Maslany Robbed Of Star Wars Role

Tatiana Maslany has been passed over for the female lead in the new Star Wars stand-alone movie.

While earlier reports had her pretty much pegged as a sure thing, she was beat out by Felicity Jones.

Jones, of The Theory of Everything fame, beat out not only Tatiana Maslany, but also Rooney Mara.

As the star of Orphan Black, Tatiana Maslany already had that whole clone thing going for her.

Fans of Tatiana Maslany had hoped that her clone experience would somehow put her ahead of the game.

Of course, we don’t really know what the new Star Wars stand-alone will be about. And we don’t even have an idea as to the the focus of the new film.

    But, you know. Clones.

Oh well, Tatiana Maslany is great in everything she has done so far. Surely her talents will garner her plenty of enviable roles in the future.

The new Star Wars stand-alone is on track to be a winner, with Gareth Edwards at the helm as director and Chris Weitz as the story’s apt scribe.

Now, with Felicity Jones on board and rumors circulating that Aaron Paul and Edgar Ramirez are on the interest list for the male lead, what could go wrong?

Tatiana Maslany can just sit back and wait for the amazing roles to come to her, anyway.

Tatiana Maslany should, for that very reason, go ahead and get used to walking the red carpet. The lovely Canadian was a little overwhelmed at the 2015 SAG Awards recently.

Tatiana Maslany said that whole experience was “surreal.”

She added, “It’s crazy to be here. I’m so new to this whole thing, so it’s always very shocking.”

What do you think of Tatiana Maslany being passed up for Felicity Jones? Uncalled for or understandable?

  • Stephen Hawking Biopic ‘Theory of Everything’ Set for Nov. 7 Release

The Stephen Hawking biopic Theory of Everything is set for a Nov. 7 release, and will be distributed in the U.S. by Focus Features, it was announced Thursday.

The Working Title film focuses on Hawking’s younger years and the relationship between the theoretical physicist and his wife, Jane Wilde. The romantic drama, inspired by Wilde’s memoir Travelling to Infinity: My Life with Stephen, follows Hawking’s life from the 1960s and his studies at Cambridge University, through his scientific breakthroughs and the early development of his ALS.

The film, directed by James Marsh (Man on Wire), will feature Eddie Redmayne (Les Miserables, Jupiter Ascending) as Hawking, and Felicity Jones (Like Crazy, The Amazing Spider-Man 2) as Wilde. Emily Watson (Breaking the Waves, Punch-Drunk Love) and David Thewlis (Harry PotterThe Fifth Estate) also co-star in the film. Anthony McCarten penned the screenplay, and is also producing the project with Lisa Bruce and Working Title co-chairs Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner.
