Paul Walker: Father Files Wrongful Death Lawsuit Against Porsche Over Son’s Fatal Crash

Paul Walker died in a Porsche back on November 30, 2013. Now, nearly two years after the tragedy, his father has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the automaker, claiming they failed to install safety features that could have saved his son’s life.

Racing pro Roger Rodas was driving the 2005 Porsche Carrera GT that hit a lamppost and tree in an L.A. suburb killing both himself and Paul Walker. Both men were reportedly burned beyond recognition.

NBC News reports that Los Angeles County and state investigators later determined that high speeds–and not a mechanical failure–caused the crash that killed the Fast & Furious star. The Carrera GT can reach a top track speed of 205 mph, according to Porsche.

Lawyers for Paul Walker III say the car “lacked safety features that are found on well-designed racing cars or even Porsche’s least expensive road cars — features that could have prevented the accident or, at a minimum, allowed Paul Walker to survive the crash.” This is stated in the wrongful death lawsuit.

The suit says “Porsche failed to install an electronic stability control system, which is meant to “protect against” the swerving actions in hypersensitive vehicles, and the vehicle was built with side-door reinforcements “weaker in strength.””

The lawsuit also alleges that the car’s seatbelt was defective.

The design supposedly “snapped Paul Walker’s torso back with thousands of pounds of force, thereby breaking his ribs and pelvis, flattening his seat and trapping him in a supine position, where he remained alive until the vehicle erupted into flames one minute and twenty seconds later,” according to the lawsuit.

Paul Walker is survived by a teenage daughter, Meadow Walker. It’s likely if Paul Walker’s father is awarded anything in this lawsuit, that it will be put away for Meadow in the coming years.

Do you think Porsche is responsible for Paul Walker’s death, or was driver error to blame instead?

  • “Wonder Woman:” Photo of Gal Gadot in Character Released, New Cast Members Added

Wonder Woman is well on its way to becoming a standalone film. Starring Israeli actress Gal Gadot in the title role, the first Wonder Woman photo has been released at the same time additional cast members have been announced.

Known for her role in two of the Fast & Furious films, Gal Gadot shared her Wonder Woman image on her Instagram account.

“Almost 75 years in the making… #WonderWoman is underway,” she captioned the stunning shot.

A photo posted by Gal Gadot (@gal_gadot) on

Those familiar with Lynda Carter’s TV Wonder Woman must admit, this is a far cry from that version. Gal Gadot has a haunting look in her eye that will no doubt add intrigue to her Wonder Woman role.

It was announced this past summer that Chris Pine will star opposite Gal Gadot. On Saturday, Warner Bros. Pictures announced that Robin Wright, Danny Huston, Harry Potter star David Thewlis, Ewen Bremner, Saïd Taghmaoui, Elena Anaya, and Lucy Davis have all signed on to star in Wonder Woman, too.

Gadot’s Wonder Woman will make her debut in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, starring Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill. That hits theaters in March.

Wonder Woman–the film–will premiere in theaters in June of 2017.

What’s your take on this new Wonder Woman character? She’s certainly darker and edgier than Lynda Carter’s character from the 70s.

  • Wonder Woman Gal Gadot Paid Her Dues in the Israeli Military

The new Wonder Woman, Gal Gadot knows how lucky she is. She is about to step into the boots of one of the most celebrated female superheroes ever.

“Never in my wildest dreams did I think I’d grow up to be in a movie playing someone who influenced as many women as she has,” Gal Gadot said of playing Wonder Woman.

Even seeing her Wonder Woman costume for the first time blew her away.

“We got into another room and I saw the costume for the first time. And we had a fitting, and it was an out-of-body experience — there I was, little Gal from Israel becoming Wonder Woman.”

While the most commonly recognized version of the Wonder Woman costume is the one worn by Lynda Carter in the hit television series, Gadot says this costume updates things a bit.

“I think it really represents the Wonder Woman of today, I’m very grateful to be the one who is going to bring her to life,” Gadot says.

Of course, Gadot was not just dropped into the role of Wonder Woman off the street. She has paid her dues in the Fast & Furious film series. In those films, director Justin Lin cast her as Gisele Yashar. Gadot performed all her own stunts in those films, and impressed Lin with her ability to handle weapons.

That is because Gal Gadot knows her way around a gun. As an Israeli national, she was required to do a stint in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). In the IDF all citizens are conscripted when they come of service age, including women.

“The army wasn’t that difficult for me,” the new Wonder Woman has said. “The military gave me good training for Hollywood.”

Gal Gadot spoke at Comic-Con about the experience of being Wonder Woman.

“All the clichés are right,” Gadot said. “I really believe now that it doesn’t matter where you come from… if you’re persistent and if you’re good, if you’re trying your best and being proactive.”

  • Michelle Rodriguez And “Furious” Cohorts Stay At #1 For Second Weekend In A Row

Michelle Rodriguez and her Furious 7 co-stars definitely have a reason to celebrate.

Furious 7, starring Michelle Rodriguez, Vin Diesel, and the late Paul Walker, among others, earned $60.6 million domestically in its second weekend.

That amazing figure is following a huge opening weekend haul of $143.6 million.

This past weekend pushed the film’s total to $252 million, which is a best for the franchise.

Overseas figures are impressive, as well, with China bringing in $68.6 million by itself on its Sunday opening day. That makes Furious 7 the highest-grossing one-day opening ever for the country.

Michelle Rodriguez and the Fast & Furious family are riding high at the box office right now.

Of course, Michelle Rodriguez is amazing as Letty in the Fast & Furious franchise, but that is probably because she chose to be there, and she is picky about her roles.

Michelle Rodriguez said, “I’m really picky about the parts I choose. I can’t be the slut. I cannot be just the girlfriend. I can’t be the girl who gets empowered because she’s been raped. I can’t be the girl who gets empowered and then dies.”

Nope. Michelle Rodriguez has to be the girl that kicks butt.

Michelle Rodriguez said of her self-created character, “I just said to myself, look, ‘You’re going to just have to create your own archetype, doesn’t matter if you go broke doing it. And I almost did go broke, twice! But people finally got it: Ok, Michelle is not malleable, you’re not going to influence her by shining fame and money at her, and they stopped offering me that sort of stuff.”

She added, “But you know, it’s a Catch-22. It’s helped me and it’s screwed me. I’ve stuck to my guns and I’m proud and people get it. But I also haven’t carried a movie since Girlfight.”

I think Michelle Rodriguez has done pretty well!

What do you think of the success of Furious 7?

  • “Furious 7” Earns $15.8M At Thursday Night Opening, A Franchise Record

Furious 7 busted the record for the Fast & Furious franchise in its Thursday night opening.

At $15.8 million, Furious 7 obliterated the opening of Fast & Furious 6, which sat at $6.5 million.

At IMAX locations alone, fans of the franchise rolled in to see Furious 7 to the tune of $2.2 million. That would be the third-best number for Thursday previews after The Dark Knight Rises and Iron Man 3.

In fact, Furious 7 is doing so well, that it is the best showing in recent times for any film after The Hunger Games: Mockingjay-Part 1. Mockingjay took in $17 million during its Thursday night premiere, and went on to make a staggering $121.9 million debut back in November.

Whether or not Furious 7 will do as well as The Hunger Games: Mockingjay-Part 1 remains to be seen, but there is no doubt that people were super excited to see this movie.

Many flooded in to see Furious 7 because they are fans of the franchise, but some are seeing it because it was Paul Walker‘s last movie before he died in a car crash during filming.

During an early screening of Furious 7 in Los Angeles last month, Vin Diesel choked up when talking about his “brother”, Paul Walker.

“This was a labor of love. It was in some ways the hardest movie I ever had to do because the relationships that you see on film are so real,” he said of Furious 7.

He added, “When the tragedy happened, I lost my best friend. I lost my brother.”

As he was speaking, Vin Diesel became emotional and had to pause to gather himself, but the crowd was quick with cheers of support for the Furious 7 star.

At the end, he concluded, “More importantly, it’s for my brother there,” and pointed at Walker’s image on the screen.

Have you seen Furious 7 yet? What did you think?

  • Paul Walker’s Father Discusses His Son’s Death

Late actor Paul Walker’s father recently opened up to Entertainment Tonight’s Nancy O’Dell to discuss the tragic death of his son, and the effects it has had on his family.

Fast & Furious film franchise star Walker died due to the “combined effects of traumatic and thermal injuries” he’d received during a car wreck on November 30 of last year. Walker was riding in a 2005 Porsche Carrera GT driven by Roger Rodas, and died upon impact.

Paul Walker III told O’Dell, “well, I’m not looking forward to Thanksgiving. He died two days after that and I guess it’ll probably be that way until I’m with him. It’s a sad time. We’re a very close, loving family and Paul is a piece that’s missing now, that we’re always going to miss.”

Walker III went on to relate how he felt when he first heard about the accident – “I kept getting calls. My brother says, ‘Paul has been killed.’ And I’m thinking somebody’s got it wrong,” Walker revealed. “He says, ‘You need to get over to the house, everybody’s there.’ My feet wouldn’t move.”

Walker’s funeral was held on Saturday, December 14, at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Los Angeles. The actor was 40 at the time of his death, and left behind a daughter named Meadow, age 15.

Below is a tribute to Walker, which appears on the Fast & Furious YouTube channel:

Walker III graciously shared some family photos and home movies in tribute to his son:

Walker III added, “we’re very much in shock. I’m missing him more now, the last month. It’s not getting any better for me.”

While reminiscing about the last time he saw his son, Walker III remarked, “the last time I saw him, he gave me a kiss on the cheek, I gave him one. I tell him I loved him. It’s a great memory.”

  • Fast & Furious: Three More Films To Come After 7

Despite recent reports, the Fast & Furious franchise will not be ending after the seventh installment.

According to Universal Pictures executive Donna Langley, the series could see three more films following the upcoming Fast & Furious 7 that is scheduled to premiere in April 2015.

“We think there’s at least three more,” Langley told the Hollywood Reporter during a recent interview. “I think it’s still a growing franchise. We’ll see what happens with Furious 7, obviously, but our box office has grown over the past three or four films and internationally, in particular. So we think that there’s more to mine there. But we’re of course very mindful about fatigue.”

Langley also spoke about the late Paul Walker, one of the stars of the series who died in a tragic car accident last year. Many of the fans are curious how the producers will keep up the story line without one of the most integral characters.

“Paul is, and always will be, an integral part of the story,” Langley explained. “But there are many other great characters, and it’s also an opportunity to introduce new characters.

Do you think they should continue the franchise after Fast & Furious 7? Leave your comments below.

  • Michelle Rodriguez on Paul Walker and ‘Furious 7’

Michelle Rodriguez recently shared her thoughts on the late Paul Walker and what she believes his thoughts might have been about the upcoming Furious 7. Now that the first official trailer for the film has been released, it likely makes fans wonder what his take on it might have been, too.

It was an emotional time at Live From Furious 7–an event held on Saturday afternoon for the official release of that trailer. Michelle Rodriguez spoke with E! News, sharing things that lots of people there must have been feeling.

“He would gaze with his beautiful blue eyes and that wonderful, amazing, childlike smile that he would get whenever he’d have, like, a cargasm… [he] would just go from ear to ear, and he’d be like, ‘Finally, it’s in the f–king can!’” Michelle Rodriguez said of Paul Walker’s reaction to the trailer’s release.

“‘Cause that’s his whole thing, the entire franchise, after every single one,” she added, as she mimicked a Paul Walker shrug: “‘I just don’t think it’s in the can yet.’ That was the ongoing thing.”

Paul Walker died 11 months ago in a fiery car crash. Filming for Furious 7–the seventh installment in the Fast & Furious franchise was still underway, with Walker and Vin Diesel at the helm. Paul Walker’s brothers Cody and Caleb filled in so the film could continue production. Vin Diesel shared a picture of himself with the late actor in honor of the trailer’s release.

Michelle Rodriguez, Vin Diesel, and the rest of the cast of Furious 7 must be missing Paul Walker terribly right now. He was such a huge part of the franchise, it simply doesn’t feel right in some ways that production went on without him. In honor of the franchise and those left behind, the entire cast and production crew likely mustered up a ‘the show must go on’ attitude in order to bring Furious 7 to fruition.

They’re no doubt hoping Paul Walker is looking down on them all with love and pride.

  • Michelle Rodriduez Imagines How Paul Walker Would Have Reacted To Fast & Furious 7

Michelle Rodriguez recently opened up about her late co-star Paul Walker, and how he would have reacted to the new Fast & Furious 7 trailer.

While walking the red carpet on Wednesday night at the amFAR Inspiration Gala in Los Angeles, Rodriguez provided E! News with an impression of how she believes Walker would have acted when he saw the trailer to their newest installment in the Fast & Furious franchise.

“He would gaze with his beautiful blue eyes and that wonderful, amazing, childlike smile that he would get whenever he’d have, like, a cargasm… [he] would just go from ear to ear, and he’d be like, ‘Finally, it’s in the f–king can!’”

“‘Cause that’s his whole thing, the entire franchise, after every single one,” Rodriguez added, imitating Walker’s shrug: “‘I just don’t think it’s in the can yet.’ That was the ongoing thing.”

    Watch the official trailer below:

After the trailer was revealed, Rodriguez took to her personal Facebook account to post the trailer, and captioned it by saying “For Paul #Furious7.”

Walker was ironically killed in a car crash 11 months ago while filming was still taking place for Fast & Furious 7. To complete the scenes that Walker was needed in, his brothers Cody and Caleb stepped up.

The film was originally slated to debut in summer 2014, but was delayed after Walker’s death. The new premiere date has been scheduled for April 3, 2015.

  • Paul Walker’s Death Still Difficult For Vin Diesel; Fast & Furious 7 Wraps Filming

Vin Diesel revealed that Fast & Furious 7 became the most challenging movie he has made throughout his career.

Diesel sat down with Terri Seymour from Extra and he talked about finishing the film with Walker’s brothers Cory and Caleb.

“On some levels it was very cool to know his brothers were supporting this and wanting to help. On another level, they triggered memories, unintentionally at times. There’s no one like Paul Walker and there was only one Paul Walker,” Diesel said. He also revealed that it was difficult to be in mourning while having to pretend that Walker is still alive for the movie’s sake.

Vin Diesel talks about finishing Fast & Furious 7 without Paul Walker

When Walker died in November, filming of Fast & Furious 7 had to be stopped. It even came to a point where the producers contemplated whether to finish the movie. However, they decided to finish what they started, as Walker would have wanted it to be finished.

The first time Diesel got back on set after Walker’s death, he revealed that he went through three boxes of tissues while filming a scene. “I am supposed to be in killer mode, but just being in the vehicle that was synonymous with Paul and myself, it was so hard to get through,” he said.

Diesel said that finishing the film with Walker’s brothers was a bit strange. “It’s very, very weird. The good thing is, because we took all the time, the movie is a true testament to everyone coming together and wanting to honor both the saga and our brother, and there’s something very beautiful about that,” Diesel said.

Aside from Fast & Furious 7, Diesel also talked about his upcoming movie Guardians of the Galaxy where he plays Groot, a tree-like creature and superhero in the Marvel Universe. “I am really fortunate that I have both of these movies and there’s something very, very healing about playing a character like Groot that celebrates life after a tragedy like the one that happened,” he said.

  • Michelle Rodriguez, Zac Efron Enjoying Some Summer Lovin’ in Italy

Michelle Rodriguez and Zac Efron seem to be getting their summer lovin’ thing going on.

The 35-year-old Fast & Furious star has been engaged in some blatant PDA in Sardinia, Italy, with the 26-year-old Neighbors actor.

The lip-locking duo arrived in Sardinia July 4 and have been caught numerous times getting it on.

Seems this isn’t the first time the two have hooked up. E! News reports that their first tryst occurred back in 2012.

“Michelle is super-cool and laid-back and Zac has always been attracted to her because of that,” a source told E!. “She’s one of those people that everyone likes, she just gets on with all kinds of people and doesn’t take the fame thing too seriously. Zac likes the fact that she is laid-back and he can relate to her. He is attracted to her great attitude. They understand one another.”

This may just be a rebound affair — Rodriguez reportedly broke up with female model Cara Delevingne and Efron was rumored to be dating his Neighbors co-star Halston Sage.

Could this be a rebound thing, two kids just having some fun or a serous romance? Guess time will tell.

  • Paul Walker Car Crash Caused by “Unsafe Speed”

The Porsche carrying Fast & Furious actor Paul Walker may have been traveling at more than 93 mph when it lost control and crashed, killing Walker and his friend, Roger Rodas, who was driving, according to an investigation by law enforcement agencies into the November Los Angeles accident.

The sports car slammed into a light pole that had a 45 mph speed limit sign, and the car burst into flames. Walker and Rodas died on the scene.

Unsafe driving, and not mechanical problems, caused the crash, investigators concluded, according to a report by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and California Highway Patrol.

Investigators used road marks left by the vehicle to determine that the red 2005 Porsche Carrera GT was traveling at a speed of 80.59 mph to 93.97 mph. According to the results of the investigation, the vehicle was moving at about twice the 45 mph limit on Hercules Street in Santa Clarita when it began to drift out of a curve and crashed Nov. 30.

“Investigators determined the cause of the fatal solo-vehicle collision was unsafe speed for the roadway conditions,” sheriff’s Commander Mike Parker said.

No evidence of any car system failures was found, but at least two of the tires were more than nine years old. Porsche recommends that tires be replaced after four years. As a result, California Highway Patrol investigators wrote that “the driveability and handling characteristics” of the car “may have been compromised.”

Rodas, 38, and Walker, 40, had taken what was supposed to be a quick ride from a fundraiser benefiting Reach Out Worldwide, a Walker charity that gives first-response aid to victims of natural disasters. The crash occurred near the fundraiser, in an area of industrial business parks in Santa Clarita, about 30 miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles. Witnesses told a sheriff’s deputy that they thought the car could have been traveling in excess of 100 mph.

Walker starred in all but one of the six Fast & Furious films, and was in production for the seventh film in the series franchise at the time of the crash.

Tyrese vacationed with actor and friend Will Smith. “Dubai was great. I found my smile again in Dubai.”

So what’s next for the actor? While it seems Tyrese has finally found some hope, the newly 35-year-old has turned to writing to share life lessons with his family, friends and followers in his first book, How to Get Out of Your own Way.

The book is organized in a series of questions that have helped him, “redefine who he was as a human being, and evolve into a new man.” The book was written to help individual find their true selves.

“It’s not about talking down to people, it’s about elevating them,” Tyrese says.

  • Paul Walker: Fast & Furious Star Dies in Car Crash

Paul Walker, best known for his role in the Fast & Furious (also known as The Fast and the Furious) film franchise, died Saturday in a fiery car crash in Southern California. He was just 40 years old.

Walker was the passenger in a car that crashed in Valencia at around 5:30 PM CT. The driver of the car, tentatively identified as Paul Rodas, was killed as well.

Walker played Brian O’Conner, an officer of the law, in the Fast & Furious films. He starred opposite Vin Diesel, who posted a photo of the pair, along with his heart wrenching sentiments, upon learning the tragic news.

“Brother I will miss you very much. I am absolutely speechless. Heaven has gained a new Angel. Rest in Peace,” he wrote.

Twitter fans are mourning the tragedy.

The seventh film in the Fast & Furious franchise was in development at the time of Walker’s death. It is way too soon to predict how producers will proceed with its creation. Paul Walker most recently starred in Hours, a film about a dad struggling to keep his baby alive in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Hours premieres in U.S. theaters on December 13th.

It’s much too soon to know what caused the crash that killed both Paul Walker and Paul Rodas, but prayers are no doubt going out to both men’s families from all around the world. Walker’s survivors include a teenage daughter named Meadow. Hopefully she is receiving comfort from those who knew and loved her father.
