Facebook Pages Manager for Android Update Brings the Ability to Promote Posts and More

Facebook has just released an update to their Pages Manager for Android app that brings new features to make the app a lot more useful to page owners.

Pages Manager for Android arrived in the U.S. early last month after being available on iOS for quite some time. When it launch, it wasn’t as feature-rich as the iOS version – it really only allowed page owners to post updates and view insights.

But today, v.1.1 brings some much-needed functionality to the app.

With this update, page owners can now promote posts inside the app, as well as schedule posts for a later time and date. Android users have also received the ability to create events from their Pages with the app.

Here’s the full list of additions shipping with v1.1:

    What’s in this version:
    • Promote your Page posts to get more people to see your them in news feed
    • Schedule your post to be published on a future date
    • Create events from your Page

You can snag the update today on Google Play. With v1.1, Facebook Pages Manager for Android gets closer to being as robust as Pages Manager for iOS. Still to come, hopefully, are features like being able to post offers from the app, something the iOS version of Pages Manager got back in October 2012.

  • Facebook Pages Manager for Android Arrives in the US & UK

If you’re a Facebook page owner with an Android device that lives in the United States or the UK, you’ve now been invited to the party.

Facebook has quietly made their new Pages Manager app for Android available to US and UK users, after a soft launch period of less than a week. Last week, Facebook launched Pages Manager for Android but only in Canada, Australia, and New Zealand (typical Facebook testing locales). We knew that Facebook would make it available in the States and the UK soon, and here it is.

You can grab it from the Google Play store today.

Here’s what you’ll be getting from the app, according to Facebook:

Helps Facebook Page admins connect with their audience and keep up with activity on multiple Pages.

    • Post new updates and photos and respond to comments as your Pages
    • View and reply to private messages sent to your Page
    • Get notifications about new activity on your Pages right away
    • View your latest Pages Insights

Pages Manager has been available on iOS since May 2012. Since then, Facebook has updated the app to allow for promoted posts and Facebook Offers within the app.

As you can see above, the Android version of the Pages Manager app is not as robust, feature-wise, as the iOS version. But Facebook just launched it last week, so that’s to be expected. It does sport page insights, which is one of the most-loved features of the app.

  • Facebook Pages Manager for Android Begins Soft Launch

Good news today for Android users who operate Facebook Pages. Facebook has begun to roll out a version of its Pages Manager app for Android devices (it was previously only available for iOS).

Like the iOS version, the Android app gives pages admins the ability to manage their pages from a dedicated app, as well as view page insights.

Although the Pages Manager app does currently appear in the Google Play store, it’s only available in Canada, Australia, and New Zealand (noted Facebook testing locales). Inside Facebook confirms that Facebook plans to make it available in the U.S. and the U.K. soon.

Facebook first debuted their standalone Pages Manger app for iOS back in May of 2012. Since then, the company has been beefing it up, allowing users to do more with the app. In September, an update let page admins promote specific posts directly from the app. A couple of weeks later, Facebook brought Offers to the Pages Manager app.

Yesterday, Facebook updated its standalone Messenger app to give it voice messaging capabilities and VoIP calling in Canada.
