  • Facebook Is Down, Again

For the second time in a week, Facebook is down for many users worldwide.

According to reports on Twitter, the outage struck at around 3pm ET.

The hashtag #facebookdown is the #1 trending topic right now, so it appears as though this is a major outage.

The last major Facebook outage took place on September 24th.

Everyone is asked to remain calm, and stay indoors. This will pass. Play around on Instagram for a few minutes. Please don’t call 911. They can’t help you.

A quick search of Twitter reveals that the issue is widespread, and the hashtag #facebookdown is trending globally.

We’re experiencing issues here – this is message we get when attempting to post a status update:

And we’re also getting an error message when we attempt to like or comment on posts:

We still have access to Facebook.com and Facebook mobile, but the site is slow to load.

Facebook has yet to make any statement on the outage, but we’ve reached out and will let you know when we hear back.

  • Facebook Outage Affects Users In North America, Europe

Facebook has become much, much more than just a social media network over the past couple of years; as more and more integrations take place, people are using the site to log in to other sites and apps and to verify their identity as well as keep up with friends and family. When the site goes down, even for a few minutes, it’s a big deal.

An outage yesterday which affected many and is being touted as “global” had users turning to Twitter to vent their frustrations. Although the site was down for a relatively short period of time for most–around 20 to 25 minutes–it was long enough to create a bit of a panic among its users, and some experienced a total outage for more than an hour. Coming on the heels of a Gmail outage yesterday morning, the event was unwelcome to those who rely heavily on the sites on a daily basis.

Facebook later released a statement about the downtime and apologized for the interruption.

Earlier today we made a change to our DNS infrastructure and that change resulted in some people being temporarily unable to reach the site. We detected and resolved the issue quickly, and we are now back to 100 percent. We apologize for any inconvenience.

  • Facebook Down In Parts of Europe

Facebook Down In Parts of Europe

Facebook was down in regions of Europe, Africa and the Middle East this morning due to a technical glitch, for roughly two hours. Service has since been restored, and in a statement, Facebook stated, “today we experienced technical difficulties causing the site to be unavailable for a number of users in Europe – The issue has been resolved and everyone should now have access to Facebook. We apologize for any inconvenience.”

According to a sampling of Tweets on the matter, Facebook was offline in Egypt, Turkey, Russia, Iceland, France, Germany, Italy, The UK – but still up in Hawaii, Japan and Sweden. More isolated areas, like Pakistan and South Korea were reportedly also hit.
