  • Alicia Vikander Nominated For Golden Globes And BAFTAs, Calls Films “Gift Projects”

Alicia Vikander has a lot to celebrate right now.

Playing Eddie Redmayne’s wife in The Danish Girl and a mechanical being in Ex Machina, Alicia Vikander has garnered a lot of attention in the past year.

So much, in fact, that Alicia Vikander has been nominated for best actress and best supporting actress in both the British Academy Film Awards, also known as the BAFTA’s, the US Golden Globes.

The Golden Globes will be held on Saturday with the BAFTA’s coming up in February.

This, of course, is a dream come true for Alicia Vikander, a Swedish actress, who just did her first English language film, Anna Karenina, in 2012.

After finding out about her BAFTA nominations, Alicia Vikander said that she was “truly honored” to be nominated.

She continued, “The Danish Girl and Ex Machina have been such gifts of projects for me.”

She added, “The fact that both of these projects were driven from the UK, with a predominantly British cast and crew and that both these films have been so generously recognized by BAFTA today, makes this even more poignant for me.”

Have you seen Alicia Vikander in The Danish Girl or Ex Machina? What did you think?

  • Best Movies of 2015 Mix of Children’s, Action Films, and More

The best movies of 2015 comprise an eclectic list. “Best,” of course, is relative. NDTV.com made a list of what they consider the best movies of 2015, and it includes children’s films, action flicks, and more.

NDTV chose 10 films for their best movies of 2015 list–and they admit the list is surprising. See if you’ve watched any they deem among the year’s best.

Ant-Man: Dubbed the “smallest big film of the year,” Ant-Man made the list because of Paul Rudd and some impressive cinematography.

“The film was full of plot holes and inconsistent science, but none of that mattered because everyone in the cinema was having so much fun,” NDTV writes.

Inside Out: This Pixar film is about feelings that have feelings. It appeals–as most Pixar films do–to adults as well as the children for which it was written.

Mad Max: Fury Road: Stunning visuals, amazing scenery, and Charlize Theron took this film with a two-hour long chase scene to new heights, making it worthy of the best movies of 2015 listing.

The Martian: Even though NDTV says it’s “slow,” they also write it’s “surprisingly accessible and highly enjoyable.” It also stars Matt Damon. Enough said?

Jurassic World: Already a contender for an Oscar for best visual effects, the only film to trump this one in box office sales is Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Besides, who doesn’t love Chris Pratt?

Minions: They’re yellow, and they look like giant Twinkies with eyes–but that’s not enough to leave them off the best movies of 2015 list, and NDTV agrees. They do warn viewers not to take them too seriously, however. Who takes a yellow creature that looks like a Twinkie with eyes seriously? Really?

Good Dinosaur: Yet another offering from Pixar for 2015, it doesn’t boast the hype of Inside Out, but is one of the most “gorgeous animated movies” the good people at NDTV have ever seen.

Ex Machina: Starring Alicia Vikander of The Danish Girl, Ex Machina raises questions about transhumanism without requiring viewers to learn a whole new vocabulary.

Chappie: Classified as a film you’ll either really love or really hate, Chappie features rappers Die Antwoord. NDTV says give it a chance, and since it made their best movies of 2015 list, someone must have done just that.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens: This one needs no explanation. It grossed more than any other film that opened Christmas weekend–even trumping Jurassic Park.

Would you place any of these films on your best movies of 2015 list?

There are many lists boasting the year’s best. As previously stated, “best” is relative. Do you agree?

  • Alicia Vikander On Her Double Golden Globes Nominations

Alicia Vikander is arguably one of Hollywood’s greatest rising stars right now.

While Alicia Vikander has recently wrapped roles in the transgender drama, The Danish Girl, and sci-fi movie Ex Machina, she still has a bright immediate future to look forward to.

Alicia Vikander has already been slated for roles in The Light Between Oceans alongside fellow young Hollywood “It” person Michael Fassbender and a new Jason Bourne movie with Matt Damon.

A Bourne movie. I mean, nothing says, “I’ve made it,” like a Bourne movie.

Alicia Vikander, meanwhile, has just been nominated for TWO golden globes.

Right after Alicia Vikander found out about her double nomination, she said, “I heard the news that I’d been nominated and I freaked out.”

She added, “And then a little while later I heard the news again and I couldn’t even freak out. I was too overwhelmed. I just didn’t know what to do. I just got off the phone with my parents. It’s crazy, really.”

It is crazy! Alicia Viklander admitted that Ex Machina was a long shot when it first began.

She said, “When we got American distribution, that was a huge thing. I remember how we celebrated. I’m so proud for the film. We were at the British Independent Film Awards last week and Alex (screenwriter Alex Garland of 28 Days Later fame) won for directing and writing. I was in the back waving my arms like crazy.”

What an amazing ride and bright future for Alicia Vikander! What was your favorite out of Ex Machina and The Danish Girl?

  • Alicia Vikander to Receive Palm Springs International Film Festival’s Rising Star Award

Alicia Vikander will be honored in January with an award at The Palm Springs International Film Festival. One of the stars of The Danish Girl, Vikander will receive the festival’s Rising Star Award.

Festival chairman Harold Matzner spoke of Alicia Vikander when making the announcement.

“In The Danish Girl, Alicia Vikander delivers a superb performance as Gerda Wegener, the wife of transgender pioneer Lili Elbe,” he said. “She projects so much love and pain as she goes on a journey with Lili during an era when there was no precedent for it. Gerda’s own transformation as a character speaks to the story’s themes of courage and self-acceptance.”

Past recipients of the Rising Star Award include Jessica Biel, Dakota Fanning, Emile Hirsch, Bryce Dallas Howard, Terrence Howard, Anna Kendrick, Jennifer Lawrence and Scarlett Johansson. Howard, Kendrick, and Lawrence went on to receive Academy Award nominations during the same years they received this prestigious award. Might that mean Alicia Vikander is a shoe-in for an Oscar?

It was just days ago that Alicia Vikander was honored for her role in the film Ex Machina. She won Best Supporting Actress at the Los Angeles Film Critics Association. Ex Machina took Best British Independent Film at the British Independent Film Awards.

Alicia Vikander is someone the film world will no doubt see a lot of in the coming years. The Danish Girl will likely be her biggest claim to fame–at least so far.

  • Alicia Vikander: Lithe Legs Take Center Stage on British Independent Film Awards Red Carpet

Alicia Vikander is known for her stellar performances in films including Ex Machina and The Danish Girl. On Sunday night in London, she also became known for her sexy, lithe legs that were front and center on the red carpet at the British Independent Film Awards.

Wearing a slinky, low-cut black gown, those legs were accentuated with a side zipper that was undone to mid-thigh. The jewel detailing added the right amount of sparkle. Alicia Vikander went almost makeup-free–wearing just enough to highlight her pretty eyes.

Stylists wound Alicia’s hair into a loose knot and finished off her look with a dab of nude lip gloss. If ever an example of “less is more” walked the red carpet, it was Alicia Vikander on Sunday night in London.

Of course the awards show wasn’t solely about sexy ladies on the red carpet. Alicia Vikander’s Ex Machina took Best British Independent Film, making the event a win-win in her book.

Back in the U.S., early voting on behalf of the Los Angeles Film Critics Association saw Alicia Vikander winning again. She won supporting actress honors for her Ex Machina role.

There’s no doubt about it. Alicia Vikander is the real deal–and a whole deal at that. Whether acting on the silver screen or strutting her sexy stuff on the red carpet, she’s a winner in everyone’s eyes.

  • Julia Stiles, Matt Damon Ready for ‘Bourne 5’

Julia Stiles and Matt Damon are reportedly both in for the filming of the next in the series of the Bourne spy franchise films. Tentatively called Bourne 5, Nicky Parsons and Jason Bourne are back with these actor’s reprisals.

Alongside Matt Damon, Julia Stiles starred in The Bourne Identity, The Bourne Supremacy, and The Bourne Ultimatum. Neither appeared in The Bourne Legacy. Paul Greengrass, who directed both Supremacy and Ultimatum, is coming back to direct Bourne 5.

Julia Stiles’ portrayal of Nicky Parsons serves as one of the major links connecting the original three Bourne movies. It makes perfect sense for her to continue playing a role in this next chapter. Nicky has deep knowledge of Jason Bourne’s psychological issues, and this knowledge would likely come into play during the Bourne 5 narrative–as featured in the script that Greengrass and Damon have written alongside Paul Greengrass’s longtime editor, Christopher Rouse.

It’s possible that Lord of the Rings star Viggo Mortensen will join Matt Damon and Julia Stiles in Bourne 5. He’s purportedly being eyed for the role of the film’s villain. Alicia Vikander of Ex Machina fame is as possibility in a key role as well.

Regardless of the other players, Matt Damon and Julia Stiles are said to be a done deal. Filming is set to begin next month with Bourne 5 scheduled to hit theaters in July of 2016.

Are you excited to learn that Julia Stiles and Matt Damon will soon reprise their Bourne roles?
