  • Lindsay Lohan: Is She Headed Back to Jail?

Lindsay Lohan could be headed back to jail. The Freaky Friday and Mean Girls star has been in London for a while now, plotting a comeback and starring in a play called Speed the Plow. The trouble is, she was supposed to be fulfilling her community service obligation (for her prior reckless driving conviction) while in London. However there is no proof thus far that she’s been doing that.

L.A. District Attorney Terry White is “expected to ask Judge Richard Stone to terminate Lindsay’s probation, and will recommend she serve jail time because of the lack of transparency regarding the completion of community service hours,” according to RadarOnline.

Lindsay Lohan hasn’t turned in the records from her community service in London, leading officials to fear she hasn’t fulfilled her obligation.

The D.A. “never wanted Lindsay to be able to do the hours in London, but another judge, handling the case at the time, approved it.”

Even authorities in London haven’t cooperated with handing over Lindsay Lohan’s records to L.A. officials.

“These were very, very basic inquiries, such as how was Lindsay monitored, who supervised her work–it does seem odd that none of that information has been sent, especially since there is a court date scheduled for February 18,” RadarOnline reports.

Los Angles Deputy City Attorney Terry White is “expected to ask Judge Richard Stone to terminate Lindsay’s probation, and will recommend she serve jail time because of the lack of transparency regarding the completion of community service hours.”

Lindsay Lohan could serve 30 days in jail if she doesn’t get those completed records with proof of community service in London to authorities in L.A.

TMZ is reporting that Esurance is paying $10,000 to her community service organization, and that Lindsay Lohan wants the D.A. to believe she has served her community service by ‘raising funds’ for a London agency that benefits poor children.

Lindsay Lohan’s lawyer is livid about the TMZ report.

TMZ has stooped to a new low. To take Lindsay’s positive efforts in supporting CSV and turn them into something negative simply to sell a story is offensive,” Shawn Holley said. “Lindsay has been involved in helping to raise funds for this wonderful organization since she started her community service there and she has continued her work as a volunteer, even though her community service was completed weeks ago.”

Do you think Lindsay Lohan is once again living like the law applies to everyone but her? Or is there some reasonable explanation as to why those community service records haven’t yet surfaced in the L.A. D.A.’s office?

  • Dina Lohan Rushes to Lindsay Lohan in London Following Illness Scare

Dina Lohan reportedly rushed to daughter Lindsay Lohan’s side in London on Wednesday on the heels of her serious illness. The Mean Girls actress was recently diagnosed with Chikungunya, a mosquito-transmitted virus that made her so ill she couldn’t walk.

TMZ reports that Lindsay Lohan was admitted to a London hospital with a rare, incurable virus she apparently picked up while vacationing in Bora Bora.

The actress contracted the disease over the holidays and then returned to Los Angeles to shoot a Super Bowl ad for Esurance. She wasn’t feeling well the entire time. Upon arriving in London, she was so ill she couldn’t walk, and was admitted to King Edward VII’s Hospital–the same place Queen Elizabeth and the royal family are treated when they are ill.

Lindsay Lohan shared a photo of a meeting she attended while in L.A. via Instragram.

Of course now everyone is likely wondering why Dina Lohan is rushing to Lindsay’s side. Lindsay is out of the hospital and it sounds like the lingering effects of the disease include joint pain and weakness. What will Dina Lohan do to alleviate any of that? She isn’t exactly the best influence on her daughter.

“Dina wants her to come home to New York when she is released,” a source close to the Lohan family tells RadarOnline. “She is extremely worried for Lindsay and has suggested that she come back to live with her until her symptoms get better.”

Will Lindsay Lohan go home with her mom? Will Dina Lohan for once, perhaps, behave like a mom and actually care for her sick daughter?

Chikungunya can be deadly, but it sounds like doctors in England have Lindsay’s case under control. Might she be better off staying near the hospital where she received treatment–at least for now–or should she head to the states with Dina Lohan? Surely New York hospitals are equipped to care for the actress, but is she healthy enough to travel?

  • Auto Insurance Now Sold On Wal-Mart’s Website

Wal-Mart announced Tuesday that the world’s largest retailer is adding a new service to its expanding empire – auto insurance. Wal-Mart is teaming up with AutoInsurance.com as their exclusive retail partner in selling online auto insurance. Users simply login to Wal-Mart’s online site and fill in their name, location, age, and contact info, and are immediately able to compare quotes for top-leading auto insurance companies such as Esurance and Progressive. Customers can also put in their current coverage policy for side-by-side comparison plans. From there, users can purchase their policy directly online, or choose to speak with an agent, or simply save the info for later.

Wal Mart’s AutoInsurance.com partnership is currently available now in eight states including Arkansas, Mississippi and Oklahoma, and will be available nationwide in a month or so. The new service will be promoted with in-store displays.

The partnership was created after Wal-Mart realized they had an opportunity to provide a quicker, cheaper auto insurance buying system. Through their site, users see their final price, with no gimmicks or bait-and-switch tactics. Wal-Mart understands that auto insurance can be one of the biggest monthly expenses among their customers and want to provide the best possible deal out there on the market.

And it’s not all talk from Wal-Mart, either: a trial run of the site ran last April in Pennsylvania, in which customers that bought insurance through the AutoInsurance.com partnered site reported annual savings of $1,168 on their insurance bill. After the trial run, Wal-Mart knew they had a good program and that offering an online, price-comparision service was the way to go.

“Our customers too often have to settle for auto insurance policies that aren’t the best fit and cost more than they want to spend,” says Daniel Eckert, Wal-Mart’s senior vice-president of services.”We are always looking for ways to reduce complexity, increase transparency, and give everyday low prices to Wal-Mart shoppers.” Eckert also assured the site is not a lead-generated website and won’t bother customers with unwanted calls or emails; in return, AutoInsurance.com simply gets paid a commission for every policy sold on Wal-Mart’s site. “This is the first of its kind auto-insurance comparison service,” says Eckert.

This move for Wal-Mart is also an attempt to counter a recent slump in sales. In February, Wal-Mart reported a drop in profit and lowered its 2014 outlook plan. They’re hoping the success of the trial run and the user-friendly, low-price website will attract users and, ultimately, money.

  • Esurance Saw 2.6 Billion Social Impressions from That Super Bowl Cash Giveaway Twitter Stunt

If you look to social media engagement as the benchmark for success, Esurance’s (non) Super Bowl ad campaign hit a grand slam – er, scored a touchdown I guess.

If you tweeted out the hashtag #EsuranceSave30 in the day and a half following the Super Bowl, you weren’t alone. According to the company, they saw 5.4 million uses of that hashtag in the 36 hours following the big game – 200,000 of which came in the first minute after the Esurance ad aired.

If you don’t have 30 seconds to watch that video and missed the Super Bowl, here’s a quick rundown. The premise of Esurance’s ad was that they wanted to give away the $1.5 million they saved by airing an ad after the Super Bowl as opposed to during the Super Bowl. All people had to do was tweet that hashtag and/or follow Esurance on Twitter to enter the sweepstakes.

The company just handed out the prize last night with the help of Jimmy Kimmel.

“The sweepstakes demonstrated the power of a hashtag when #EsuranceSave30 was tweeted more than 5 million times in less than thirty six hours, said Leo Burnett Chief Creative Officer Susan Credle. “Esurance trending over the Super Bowl Sunday night is proof that when you use mass media to announce a social media idea, it works really, really well.”

Here are some more stats about Esurance’s social media-based ad experiment:

    – 1.4 million hashtag uses in the first hour and 4.5 million in the first 24 hours
    – 2.6 billion social impressions on Twitter
    – 332,000 views of the Esurance commercial on YouTube
    – 261,000 new followers on the official Esurance Twitter account — an increase of nearly 3,000 percent
    – A 12x spike in visits to the Esurance website in the first hours of the sweepstakes

It seems like the experiment payed off – if the goal was to get people talking. What this will or will not do for the company’s bottom line remains to be seen.
