  • Erin Andrews’ $75 Million Lawsuit Trial Goes to Jury on Monday

Erin Andrews spent the past two weeks in court, as her lawyer argued against the hotel that not only gave Michael Barnett the number of her hotel room, but booked him into the room next to hers as well..

It was back in 2008 when Barnett videotaped Erin Andrews via a reversed peephole he rigged. He posted the film of Erin Andrews undressing online, where it quickly went viral.

In a $75 million lawsuit, Andrews alleges the hotel is responsible for the crime taking place. Michael Barrett is named in the suit as well. It goes to a jury on Monday.

Prior to closing arguments, the judge directed a verdict against Barrett. The jury must still decide how responsible the Nashville Marriott is for the years of humiliation Erin Andrews has experienced.

Erin Andrews’ attorney, Brue Broillet, asked the jury in closing arguments to imagine themselves as hotel guests.

“We turn ourselves over to hotels and their protection,” he said. “Hotels need to meet reasonable expectations of security.”

Do you expect Erin Andrews will win this lawsuit? How might you vote if you sat on this jury?

  • Erin Andrews Weeps, Leaves Courtroom, As Jurors Watch Nude Video

Erin Andrews is certainly having a rough time as she endures testimony and the showing of a nude video that elicited a $75 million lawsuit against a Nashville hotel.

According to CNN, Andrews is suing the Nashville Marriott hotel and the serial stalker, Michael David Barrett, who allegedly recorded her through a peephole during her 2008 stay there.

During testimony on Thursday, a computer expert testified that nearly 17 million people have viewed the nude peephole video of the 37-year-old TV sports reporter.

“Every minute, 1.5 people are watching that video,” Penn State Professor Bernard Jansen told jurors before showing seven clips of the 4½-minute video that stalker Michael David Barrett took and leaked online.

“Right now, someone is watching that video,’’ Jansen said.

According to Page Six, as Jansen described the adult websites the video has made its way onto, Andrews began weeping and left the courtroom minutes before the jurors watched the footage.

Andrews is suing the owner and manager of the Nashville Marriott where she was staying when Barrett doctored a peephole on her door, allowing him to surreptitiously film the nude video.

Page Six reports that Andrews was particularly “concerned” about how she would discuss the incident with the man she is dating in California.

“She has this huge baggage that comes along with her that will have to become part of a dialogue in some way with a partner,” said Loren Comstock, a therapist that treated Erin between 2012 and 2013.

Andrews’ lawyers allege the Marriott hotel was negligent when it allowed Barrett to request a room next door to Andrews without asking for her permission.

Marriott International executive Renne Buonicontri testified that Barrett’s request to be placed next to Andrews room, which allegedly came via the 1-800 Marriott International system, was never communicated to the local hotel.

  • Erin Andrews Heads to Court, Taking On Hotel in Peeping Tom Lawsuit

Erin Andrews is back in court–this time taking on the hotel where former Illinois insurance salesman Michael David Barrett rigged a peephole and recorded nude footage of the Fox sportscaster and Dancing With the Stars host in 2008. Barrett, who was convicted and sentenced to 30 months in jail back in 2010, tried to sell the footage to TMZ, but they refused to bite. An FBI investigation was launched when the footage showed up on the internet.

Erin Andrews feels Barrett got off easy.

“He pled guilty because the FBI had a box full of evidence, not because he is remorseful,” she said.

“Every time I check into a hotel room, I fear he is in the closet, and every time I go home, I fear he is waiting for me. I fear for my life,” she added.

In 2011, Erin Andrews sued the Nashville Marriott as well as Marriott International. A judge recently tossed out the Marriott International portion of the lawsuit.

Michael David Barrett learned from staff within the Nashville Marriott exactly which room Erin Andrews occupied, allowing him to book the room next door. The lawsuit cites infliction of emotional distress and invasion of privacy.

In light of the Erin Andrews lawsuit, a representative for for the hotel recently said, “Since the incident in question, the Nashville Marriott at Vanderbilt has changed management. The new management company requires and enforces a strict adherence to policies regarding guest privacy, and, as such, has implemented additional safety and privacy measures.”

The trial is expected to last about two weeks.

Do you expect Erin Andrews will win her lawsuit, and receive at least some compensation for her pain and suffering from this frightening ordeal?

  • Erin Andrews: Lawsuit Over Peephole Video Heating Up, “Dancing With the Stars” Host Shares How Much

Erin Andrews filed suit against Marriott International quite a while back, after she was videotaped through a peephole while staying there. Just recently, however, the Dancing With the Stars host divulged how much she is seeking in damages from the hotel corporation.

It was back in 2008, in a Tennessee hotel rom, that Erin Andrews was videotaped in the nude. A stalker named Michael David Barrett committed the heinous act and is being sued as well. He went so far as to post the nude clips of Erin Andrews online.

Erin Andrews feels Marriott is responsible, too, because staff at the hotel’s front desk confirmed to Barrett that she was a guest there, and have him her room number.

So how much is Andrews asking for from Marriott International? Her amended claim, filed over a week ago, seeks damages in the amount of $75,000.

A trial date is set for February of 2016. Lawyers for Erin Andrews anticipate the trial will last approximately 10 days.

Do you agree with Erin Andrews that Marriott should bear some of the responsibility for Michael David Barrett filming her in the nude while she was a guest at one of their hotels?

Will the Fox reporter get what she’s asking for?

  • Erin Andrews Sues Marriott International and Other Defendants for $75 Million in Peephole Video Case

Erin Andrews was filmed through a peephole by a stalker named Michael David Barrett while staying at a Marriott hotel in Tennessee in 2008.

Barrett was sentenced to 30 months in jail for filming the Dancing With the Stars co-host and Fox reporter nude. She believes Marriott International should be held accountable, too. Employees of the hotel both told Barrett she was staying there and provided him with her room number.

Michael David Barrett posted his nude footage of Erin Andrews online, which prompted an investigation by the FBI.

Erin Andrews filed this lawsuit back in 2011. It has been scheduled to go to trial in February of 2016. In light of the upcoming trial, defense lawyers sought a court order that directed Erin Andrews to divulge the amount of damages she is seeking.

Filing an amended complaint on Tuesday of this week, Erin Andrews stated she was seeking $75 million.

Lawyers for Andrews, as well as for the defendants, expect the February trial to last approximately 10 days.

The past year or so has no doubt been exhausting for Erin Andrews. In addition to preparing to sue Marriott International, she also learned that her boyfriend, New York Rangers hockey player Jarrett Stoll was arrested in Las Vegas and charged with possession of both cocaine and ecstasy. In September she admitted she wasn’t sure what–if anything–the future holds for the two.

“I have no idea what tomorrow will bring,” she said. “We’re brought up thinking our lives are going to be a Taylor Swift song. Then you get older and wiser. You don’t know what is going to bring you happiness.”

It certainly sounds like Erin Andrews has a strong case against Marriott International. Almost anyone knows hotel employees can’t divulge such information about their guests–especially when those guests are celebrities.

If things don’t work out for Erin Andrews and Jarrett Stoll, $75 million might help to ease her pain.
