  • J.J. Abrams says ‘Star Wars: Episode VII’ Is Ready

All you Star Wars enthusiasts will be happy to know that director J.J. Abrams has confirmed that a Star Wars Episode VII script is ready to go, and he has talked to Breaking Bad’s Jesse Plemons about a possible role in the film.

“We’re working really hard and we’ve got our script and we’re in deep prep,” Abrams told Entertainment Weekly. “Full steam ahead, y’know.” “He is one of the actors that we’ve talked to,” Abrams said regarding Plemons. “But it’s not often that I read about actors that I’m going to be meeting … I get to read articles about actors who are going to come in. And so I get to see someone and say, ‘Oh, I read that I was going to see you!’ … It’s a lot of noise.”

When asked about the most interesting rumor he had heard about the film, he replied: “There’ve been so many of them. It’s amazing to see how many there are. … But it’s sweet because it shows that there’s an interest in this movie that we all obviously know is there. But it is an incredible thing to see how many incredible things get thrown out that people then write commentaries about. How happy they are, how disappointed they are about something that is completely false. It’s a lot of noise, frankly.”

Abrams also revealed that the film will not be shot in IMAX, but strictly on film. “The problem with IMAX is it’s a very loud camera. It’s a very unreliable camera,” Abrams explained. “Only so much film can be in the camera. You can’t really do intimate scenes with it. It’s slow, they break down often. Having said that, they’re working on digital versions of these and so there may be a version one day…but we’re going to be shooting on film.”

Episode VII comes from Abrams and Disney, who acquired the franchise from Lucasfilm. “For the past 35 years, one of my greatest pleasures has been to see Star Wars passed from one generation to the next,” said George Lucas, Chairman and CEO of Lucasfilm. “It’s now time for me to pass Star Wars on to a new generation of filmmakers. I’ve always believed that Star Wars could live beyond me, and I thought it was important to set up the transition during my lifetime. I’m confident that with Lucasfilm under the leadership of Kathleen Kennedy, and having a new home within the Disney organization, Star Wars will certainly live on and flourish for many generations to come. Disney’s reach and experience give Lucasfilm the opportunity to blaze new trails in film, television, interactive media, theme parks, live entertainment, and consumer products.”

  • Benedict Cumberbatch In “Star Wars: Episode VII”?!

Rumors have recently been spreading around the internet saying that Benedict Cumberbatch may be appearing in the new ‘Star Wars: Episode VII’.

Cumberbatch was originally supposed to be acting in Guillermo del Toro’s upcoming film titled ‘Crimson Peak’. He dropped out of being apart of ‘Crimson Peak’, which began being produced about the same time as the up an coming Star Wars trilogy.

When he gave up the offer of working with Guillermo del Toro, no reason was given as to why he had made this decision. Perhaps he left the set of ‘Crimson Peak’ so that he could begin working on a role in Star Wars?

Cumberbatch was in the movie, Star Trek Into Darkness, which was directed by J.J. Abrams. The new Star Wars movie is also being directed by J.J. Abrams. Since they had such a strong bond when working together during the filming of Star Trek, it would be of no surprise if they came together again to produce another movie.

Apparently Benedict Cumberbatch has always been a fan of Star Wars. In a recent interview with Total Film, he discussed both Star Trek and Star Wars, but leaned more toward being a Star Wars fan. “I was much more connected to [Star Wars] as a kid, in the way that a lot of kids are because it’s immediate storytelling, very simple – a beautifully, outrageously simple narrative in a way – and a wonderful three-act melodrama, opera. And I loved them. I really, really loved those films and I always wanted to be Han Solo. Everything Harrison Ford did I just thought was the coolest thing ever – Raiders Of The Lost Ark was very much my upbringing as well,” he told Total Film.

With the production of Star Wars: Episode VII currently being in the works, Benedict Cumberbatch’s announcement pertaining to staring in the movie, could take place any day now.
