  • Jim Parsons: Nominated for Two Emmys, Leaving Big Bang Theory?

Jim Parsons has been nominated for two Emmy Awards for his role in The Big Bang Theory, however rumors are swirling about a possible exit from the show. Might he take his Emmys and run and leave fans mourning his absence on the hit TV show?

This isn’t the first time Parsons has been nominated. In fact out of the several nominations he has received in the past, he has taken home Emmys for three. In addition to Jim Parsons, The Big Bang Theory has received an Emmy nod for Outstanding Comedy Series. Parsons’ costar and on air love interest Mayim Bialik received a nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.

Rumors about Jim Parsons leaving the show started last season when his character, Sheldon Cooper, appeared to be exiting the story line. Rumor has it that contract negotiations for all of the show’s characters are currently in a limbo of sorts.

Those rumors along with the one about Jim Parsons leaving the show likely has Big Bang Theory fans up in arms. CBS Chairman of Entertainment, Nina Tassler, says there’s no reason to fret just yet, however.

“We’re feeling very confident that everything will work out,” she said at the CBS portion of the Television Critics Association Summer Tour in Beverly Hills on Thursday. “These deals manage to get done somehow miraculously year after year.”

Can you even imagine what The Big Bang Theory would be like without Sheldon Cooper? Hopefully Jim Parsons’ contract–as well as those of his cast mates–will be renewed once again. Fans will still have to wait a little while to enjoy new episodes, however. The show’s new season isn’t set to premiere until September 22nd at 8:00 P.M.

  • Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn Nominated For Emmy

Last fall, in the run-up to the November release of Halo 4, Microsoft Studios released a five-part live-action mini-series called Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn. The series provided some back story for the Halo 4 campaign and was a surprisingly good live-action addition to the Halo lore.

The mini-series has now been nominated for an Emmy Award. The nomination isn’t for the series’ acting or special effects, though. Forward Unto Dawn has been nominated for Outstanding Main Title Design. The other nominees for the award include the shows Elementary, The Newsroom, Vikings, Da Vinci’s Demons, and American Horror Story: Asylum. The award is given to primetime shows for their main title sequence, and in the past has been won by shows such as Game of Thrones, Mad Men, and Six Feet Under.

Forward Unto Dawn follows a few weeks in the life of Thomas Lasky, a recruit at the UNSC Corbulo Academy of Military Science. As part of Hastati Squad, Lasky deals with bullying, family issues, and a burgeoning romance with a squadmate played by Anna Popplewell (Susan from the Chronicles of Narnia movies). When the inevitable Covenant invasion occurs, Master Chief himself arrives to usher the cadets to safety. Forward Unto Dawn‘s main title sequences tie the events of the series into the beginning of Halo 4.

  • Emmy Nominations 2012: Mad Men and American Horror Story Receive 17 Nods

Emmy nominations 2012: If you’re a fan of both AMC’s “Mad Men” and FX’s creepy “American Horror Story”, you should be pretty happy right about now. Both programs received a staggering 17 nominations a piece, which gives them a considerable leg up on the competition. And while I’m pretty buzzed that “Breaking Bad” and “Game of Thrones” received nods in the Outstanding Drama Series category, I’m extremely delighted that “Downton Abbey” is getting the recognition is rightfully deserves. As someone who owns every single Steven Seagal movie known to mankind, typing those words seems very strange and foreign.

On the comedy front, Zooey Deschanel received a Lead Actress in a Comedy Series nod for her turn in the unusually funny sitcom “New Girl”, while Emmy winner Jim Parsons once again enjoyed a nomination for his role as Sheldon Cooper in the Chuck Lorre hit “The Big Bang Theory”. Although I’d love to see him take home another trophy, I’m kind of jazzed that Louis C.K. is up for the same award for “Louie”. If you haven’t seen the stand-up comedian’s FX show, then you’re seriously missing out on something genuinely hilarious.

If you’re curious to see who wins and who loses, you can tune into the 2012 Emmy Awards on Sunday, September 23 on ABC. Make sure you’re hope around 8PM, otherwise you’re probably going to miss out. Television aficionados won’t miss the televised ceremony for anything.
