    Emma Watson Beatboxes For Womankind

Emma Watson will do just about anything to promote gender equality.

In the past, Emma Watson has made some impressive speeches and appeared at many events for women’s rights and her HeForShe campaign.

Well, now Emma Watson can add beatboxing to that list.

Emma Watson appeared with Hamilton mastermind Lin-Manuel Miranda for a National Women’s Day video about gender equality.

Miranda, after some rather heavy discussion, challenged Emma Watson to beatbox while he freestyle rapped about gender equality.

Emma Watson was clearly uncomfortable with the idea, but went ahead with it anyway.

When Lin-Manuel Miranda asked if they ever beatboxed on the set while filming the Harry Potter movies, Emma Watson quipped, “English school kids, that’s what we do all the time… beatbox.”

Miranda got Emma Watson started, then came in with his rap, saying in part, “Yo, it’s Lin and I have to laugh because we are all half. Women are half of the people on Earth. And yes, they should’ve been equal since birth.”

After they were done, Emma Watson said she was embarrassed and, “I’m literally the color of a tomato.” (Pronounced like toe-mah-toe. So adorable.)

What did you think about Emma Watson and Lin-Manuel Miranda’s gender equality rap?

  • Emma Watson Has “Expensive Subscription” to OMGYES.com, Site That Teaches Female Sexual Pleasure

Emma Watson recently admitted during a talk she gave at the Emmanuel Centre in London that she has an “expensive subscription” to a website called OMGYES.com.

Emma Watson, best known for her role as Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter series of films, is taking a year off from acting to study feminism. During her talk in London, she said a friend shared word of OMGYES.com with her.

“A friend told me about this website called OMGYES, which is dedicated to female sexuality,” she said. “I wish it had been around longer. Definitely check it out.”

A rep for OMGYES told the New York Daily News how the website works.

“In short, scientists had never researched actual techniques for pleasure because it’s so taboo,” the rep said. “We got 4.6 million dollars in funding and are doing that research. Instead of just making academic journal articles, we’re making the findings practical, real, and experiential in the form of documentary inter

Users–like Emma Watson–have access to “touchable simulation” that allows them to “practice what they’ve learned on a photo-real movable image.”

What’s your take on OMGYES.com? Will you be checking it out to learn more about it–or at the very least, to find out just how much this “expensive subscription” costs?

Are you surprised to hear Emma Watson talk so freely about the site that teaches female sexual pleasure?

It will be interesting to find out what else she learns during her year off from acting. So far it sounds like she’s off to a pretty good start.

  • Emma Watson Announces She’s Leaving Acting–for One Year

Emma Watson, the actress best known for her role as Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter series of films, is taking a year-long break from her acting career in order to focus on feminism. She has been very vocal on the topic for a couple of years, so she wants to become better versed in it, and help others do the same.

According to a report from E! News, Watson spoke with author and activist bell hooks in an interview with Paper magazine about how she plans to spend the year she is taking away from her career.

“I’m taking a year away from acting to focus on two things, really,” Emma Watson said. “My own personal development is one…My own personal task is to read a book a week, and also to read a book a month as part of my book club.”

The book club Emma Watson referenced is called Our Shared Self. She connected with the group via Twitter.

“I’m doing a huge amount of reading and study just on my own,” Watson said. “I almost thought about going and doing a year of gender studies, then I realized that I was learning so much by being on the ground and just speaking with people and doing my reading…I actually wanted to keep on the path that I’m on. I’m reading a lot this year, and I want to do a lot of listening.”

Also as part of her year off, Emma Watson is organizing some projects with her HeforShe program. She launched this initiative as U.N. goodwill ambassador, enlisting men in the fight for gender equality. She has an arts week and a university tour planned, as well as a new website in the works.

“I’m on my journey with this and it might change, but I can tell you that what is really liberating and empowering me through being involved in feminism is that for me the biggest liberation has been that so much of the self-critiquing is gone,” she added. “Engaging with feminism, there is this kind of bubble now that goes off in my head where these really negative thoughts about myself hit where I’m able to combat them in a very rational and quick way.”

Emma Watson hopes to empower other women in this way, too.

How do you suppose Emma Watson’s fans are reacting to word she is taking a one-year leave from acting? Aside from missing her, they are likely proud of her ambitious endeavors.

  • Emma Watson Taking a Year’s Break from Acting–Why?

Emma Watson is taking a year-long break from her acting career in order to focus on feminism. She has been very vocal on the topic for a couple of years, so she wants to become better versed in it, and help others do the same.

According to a report from E! News, Emma Watson spoke with author and activist bell hooks in an interview with Paper magazine about her plans to leave her acting career behind for a year.

“I’m taking a year away from acting to focus on two things, really,” the former Harry Potter star said. “My own personal development is one…My own personal task is to read a book a week, and also to read a book a month as part of my book club.”

Are you surprised an actress like Emma Watson would give up a year of her career to study feminism?

  • Emma Watson and Benedict Cumberbatch Are Oxford-Bound

Emma Watson and Benedict Cumberbatch are both Oxford-bound. Are the actors continuing their education at the prestigious university?

While they likely could do so, should they wish, that’s not what this is about. Benedict Cumberbatch and Emma Watson have been appointed as visiting fellows at Lady Margaret Hall at Oxford University instead.

Time magazine reports the Harry Potter actress known for her role as Hermione Granger, and the star of The Imitation Game have duties that come with this honor.

Alan Rusbridger, the college’s principal, explains.

“At a minimum, we’d like them to drop in occasionally at college, eat with us and meet informally with a variety of the LMH community,” he says. “We’d like them to do one thing a bit more structured. It could be a conversation or debate, a performance, a lecture or seminar, a form of outreach – or something we haven’t thought of. We can imagine fascinating interactions or collaborations between them.”

“They are welcome to come and stay in college if they’d like a place temporarily to think or work,” Rusbridger adds. “And some have already suggested other ways in which they might engage with a body of 700 incredibly smart students and tutors in order to stimulate their own thinking or work in progress.”

Emma Watson has long been very vocal about the importance of a good college education. A 2014 Brown University graduate, she once interviewed Malala Yousafzai, who strongly believes in the power of education.

Benedict Cumberbatch and Emma Watson are among nine such fellows at Oxford. Part of their duties will include helping students transition into various professions.

How amazing would it be to have Emma Watson or Benedict Cumberbatch help you make strides toward a successful future?

  • Emma Watson: Why Rupert Grint Was Terrified to Kiss Her

Emma Watson is a beautiful actress. Most men would love to kiss the Harry Potter star. Not so Rupert Grint, however. Known for his role as red-headed wizard Ron Weasley in the Harry Potter series of films, Grint learned he had to kiss Emma Watson and stewed over it for quite some time.

“I never look back at that scene,” Grint said in an interview with People magazine on Friday at Universal Orlando’s “Celebration of Harry Potter” event. “I’ve known Emma since she was literally 9 years old and we had this very brother-sister relationship. And it just felt very surreal. I have a memory of her face getting closer and closer. Like, ‘Oh my God.’ I can’t really remember anything apart from that.”

Emma Watson and Rupert Grint didn’t practice their kissing scene either.

“One take was enough. It was such a huge moment and there was so much expectation. Quite a lot of pressure actually,” Grint said.

Emma Watson has spoken out in the past about her kissing scene with Rupert Grint, as well as about kissing Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter himself.

“Rupert was the weirdest. Dan [Radcliffe] wasn’t so bad,” she said. “I just had to remind myself, ‘I am an actress. I am Hermione. This is a role.’ But it was really hard. We just have so much history together. They are like my brothers.”

“Dan and I could sort of have a laugh about it. Whereas Rupert’s a bit more quiet so I didn’t really know what he was thinking which made me a bit more nervous,” she added.

If you don’t recall Emma Watson and Rupert Grint’s iconic kiss as Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley, you can check it out below.

Grint no doubt realizes there are countless men who would love to have traded places with him, for just one tender little kiss from Emma Watson.

  • Alan Rickman: Celebrities Pay Tribute to Late Actor

Alan Rickman passed away last week from pancreatic cancer. Since his passing, a wealth of celebrities–many of whom were his fellow actors–have paid tribute to him via social media.

Best known for his role in the Harry Potter films, Alan Rickman played countless roles throughout his many years as an actor. His death stunned nearly everyone who knew or even knew of him.

Daniel Radcliffe posted the following tribute to Alan Rickman on his Google Plus page.

“Alan Rickman is undoubtedly one of the greatest actors I will ever work with. He is also, one of the loyalest and most supportive people I’ve ever met in the film industry. He was so encouraging of me both on set and in the years post-Potter. I’m pretty sure he came and saw everything I ever did on stage both in London and New York. He didn’t have to do that. I know other people who’ve been friends with him for much much longer than I have and they all say “if you call Alan, it doesn’t matter where in the world he is or how busy he is with what he’s doing, he’ll get back to you within a day”.

“People create perceptions of actors based on the parts they played so it might surprise some people to learn that contrary to some of the sterner(or downright scary) characters he played, Alan was extremely kind, generous, self-deprecating and funny. And certain things obviously became even funnier when delivered in his unmistakable double-bass.

“As an actor he was one of the first of the adults on Potter to treat me like a peer rather than a child. Working with him at such a formative age was incredibly important and I will carry the lessons he taught me for the rest of my life and career. Film sets and theatre stages are all far poorer for the loss of this great actor and man.”

Emma Watson posted her Alan Rickman tribute to her Facebook page.

I'm very sad to hear about Alan today. I feel so lucky to have worked and spent time with such a special man and actor. I'll really miss our conversations. RIP Alan. We love you

She honored him via Twitter as well.

Countless celebrities shared their memories and tributes of Alan Rickman.

Alan Rickman. Amazing actor and director. Above all the most generous, funny, loving friend to Deb and I. We will miss you so.

Alan Rickman has left us with a wealth of beloved characters. Although his loss is mourned, these performances will always be a click away.

Jane the Virgin actress Gina Rodriguez shared her thoughts on Alan Rickman’s untimely passing via Instagram.

“They got one talented angel up in heaven. Forever remembered. Forever missed. ?? #alanrickman,” she captioned a photo.

Alan Rickman’s death made the Oscar nominations pale in comparison for Jamie Lee Curtis.

Author Stephen King was stunned by Alan Rickman’s death, too.

One can only hope that all these people sharing their sentiments in light of Alan Rickman’s passing, shared their love with the actor while he was alive.

Perhaps his death can serve as a message for all to do just that.

  • Emma Watson Accused Of Exploiting Alan Rickman’s Death By Posting ‘Feminist’ Quote By The Late ‘Harry Potter’ Star

Emma Watson has been bashed on the internet for exploiting the death of Harry Potter co-star Alan Rickman and pushing her own ‘feminist agenda’ by posting a quote by the late actor to social media.

In the wake of the shocking news that Rickman had died, the 25-year-old actress took to social media to remember her former co-star with a post that featured Rickman’s image overlaid with a quote that expressed his strongly-held feminist beliefs.

“There is nothing wrong with a man being a feminist, I think it is to our mutual advantage,” said Rickman — who portrayed the misunderstood Severus Snape in the film version of the Harry Potter series — in March 2015.

Twitter trolls didn’t take to kindly to her post and began to pick on the actress who portrayed Hermione Granger.

“Wow, you’re using the death of your friend to push your agenda. That’s actually horrible,” tweeted one disgruntled fan.

One post called Watson’s tribute, “tacky, classless, tactless, disgusting behaviour”.

Of course, the trolls failed to notice that Emma Watson posted this one feminist tweet along with several others that included quotes from Rickman.

Watson, a Goodwill Ambassador for UN Women and advocate for the HeForShe campaign that promotes gender equality, is continually under the gun for her staunch support of feminist advocacy.

Many other fans came out in support of Emma Watson following the backlash.

“He was a feminist, and those were his words, she is just paying tribute, nothing wrong with it,” one wrote.

“Love the @EmWatson tribute to Alan Rickman. She respectfully paid homage to his humanitarian character and feminist ideals they shared,” another commented.

  • Emma Watson Tweets Support for Black Hermione

In the upcoming play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child (a confirmed sequel), Hermione will be played by a black woman, Noma Dumerzweni.

This is a fact that upset some people on the internet, because of course it did.

Now, the woman who played Hermione in all the Harry Potter movies has thrown her support behind the casting choice.

“Can’t wait to see Noma Dumezweni as Hermione on stage this year,” tweeted Emma Watson, followed by 13 heart emojis.

    Dumezweni quickly responded, saying,

“Thank You Miss Watson! Much appreciated. I look forward to experiencing #Hermione too. Blessings Abound to you.”

When the play announced the casting choice, backlash over a black Hermione ensued.

J.K. Rowling herself tweeted support for the decision, saying Hermione’s skin color was never specified in her books.

“Canon: brown eyes, frizzy hair and very clever. White skin was never specified. Rowling loves black Hermion,” she tweeted.

  • Emma Watson On What She Learned From Ethan Hawke

Emma Watson has made the transition from child star to grown-up actress pretty seamlessly, proving herself a role model for young women in Hollywood and for young women everywhere. But that’s not always the case for actors, who sometimes find it difficult to move on from their childhood roles, and Emma said recently that she learned a lot from a co-star who went through it too.

Emma, who worked with Ethan Hawke on Regression, said recently that Hawke was a “joy” to be around on set and that they often shared stories on what it was like to be in the spotlight at an early age.

“He’s just such a joy to be around. Every day he would come into the make-up trailer playing a different instrument. He was just really nice to be around. He was also a child actor, so it was nice. I got to talk to him a lot about what that’s like,” Watson told Radio 1 Breakfast Show.

Watson, who is a UN Goodwill Ambassador in her free time, has made her voice heard amongst the other women of Hollywood when it comes to how females are perceived when they assert their voices. Watson said recently that women are often seen as “bossy” when they give their opinion on something, whereas men are viewed as “powerful”. She also spoke about her role in Regression, as that of a girl who was allegedly sexually abused by her father, who has no memory of it.

“I never would have done a movie like this without knowing I was doing it with a director who was incredibly tasteful, which is Alejandro (Amenabar). Under any other circumstance, I wouldn’t really go there. He’s just so good,” Emma Watson said.

    Regression hits theaters in February.

  • Emma Watson Continues Her Hairstyle Adventures With A New Short ‘Do

Emma Watson has done it again – her newest hair transformation has gotten people raving and hairstylists can expect clients to start requesting this hairstyle soon.

The 25-year-old British actress debuted a gorgeous new bob on Wednesday at the London screening of the documentary The True Cost. She came out in support of the film, which tackles the effect of consumerist fashion on the well-being of the environment. Emma Watson is an avid supporter of sustainable clothing and actively participates in the Green Carpet Challenge.

After sporting longer hair all year, Emma Watson went back to a shorter ‘do – a trendy layered bob that frames her lovely face perfectly. For the screening, she sported a deep part and loose curls to add a bit of drama and glamor to her look. The Harry Potter star arrived at the screening looking effortlessly chic with her navy knitted dress and matching Paul Andrew strappy heels, which she accessorized with a gorgeous tan coat and vintage-looking purse.

Ever since her tenure in the Harry Potter film series ended, Emma Watson has fearlessly experimented with various hairstyles and fashion choices.

After wearing long hair and tight curls for most of her pre-teen and early teen years, Emma Watson made headlines when she chopped off her hair into a pixie cut that was reminiscent of Mia Farrow’s hairstyle in the sixties.

The drastic style change certainly worked in her favor as it drew an overwhelmingly positive response from the public and sparked a pixie cut trend that year.

Even during the awkward phase of growing out her hair, Emma Watson still managed to rock the look with her usual grace and sophistication. Needless to say, there doesn’t seem like much that this superstar can’t do in the fashion department, and so far she has been single-handedly making sustainable fashion look trendy and cool.

  • Emma Watson Nowling: Grandmother Of Slain Seven-Year-Old Girl Speaks Out About Murderer

Emma Watson Nowling was having a normal Thursday night in Taylor, Michigan when her life was taken by a trusted family friend in the parking lot of a sports complex.

At only seven years old, Emma Watson Nowling was at a soccer practice attended by about 40 other children and their families.

During practice, Emma Watson Nowling took a break to hug a familiar family friend, 57-year-old Timothy Nelson Obeshaw.

Later that night, Obeshaw shot and killed Emma and her mother, Sharon, in their car to the shock of the other parents and the entire community.

Emma Watson Nowling died later at the hospital, but her mother remains in the hospital in serious condition.

Obeshaw then took his own life with the same gun.

Obeshaw lived with Emma Watson Nowling, her mother and her mother’s boyfriend in a makeshift apartment behind their house for a while.

Friends and family of the victims described Obeshaw as mentally unstable and investigators found evidence at his home that he thought someone was controlling his mind.

Emma’s soccer coach, Mario Scicluna, said that Obeshaw had attended her practices before and nothing was out of the ordinary. He described the incident, saying, “As he was walking by the sidelines, (Emma) went up and gave him a big hug and went back to her training.”

He said he didn’t know anything was wrong until he noticed “the panicked looked on some of the parents running the other way,” and the flashing lights of police cars.

He added, “A lot of the families are in shock and were traumatized by what happened.”

Such a sad story. What do you think prompted this guy to shoot seven-year-old Emma Watson Nowling and her mother?

  • Emma Watson Helped Malala Yousafzai Come To Terms With Calling Herself A Feminist

Emma Watson has become the face of modern feminism in recent years.

After a couple of very inspiring speeches on the subject and last year’s launch of the HeForShe campaign, Emma Watson and her work in the feminist movement has inspired many women and girls to push forward and break down walls.

To the list of most notable people to be inspired by Emma Watson can now be added activist and Taliban survivor Malala Yousafzai.

Malala Yousafzai was, of course, shot in the face by Taliban operatives at 14 because she refused to stop going to school. They threatened the action because Malala is a girl and for no other reason.

Now, Malala has told her story, won a Nobel peace prize and inspired many, like Emma Watson herself.

Recently at the premiere of He Named Me Malala , a documentary about the Taliban attack and her life, Malala spoke to Emma Watson about her new-found comfort with the term “feminist”.

Today I met Malala. She was giving, utterly graceful, compelling and intelligent. That might sound obvious but I was…

Posted by Emma Watson on Wednesday, November 4, 2015

Malala Yousafzai said, “This word, feminism, it has been a very tricky word and when I heard it the first time, I heard some negative responses and some positive ones.”

What do you think about Emma Watson’s ever-expanding influence in the world of feminism?

  • Emma Watson on James Franco’s Neck Was Temporary

Emma Watson fans were all in a tither a week ago when James Franco shared an Instragram post of his new tattoo–what appeared to be an image of Emma Watson’s head on his neck. To top it all off, Harry Potter fans were incensed over Franco claiming to be a huge Hermione Granger fan, but spelling the character’s name incorrectly on the post.

    “I ❤️ Hermoine. Ink by @indiangiver,” Franco’s caption reads.

A photo posted by James Franco (@jamesfrancotv) on

Fast forward a week or so, and it’s plain to see that Emma Watson’s head was on James Franco’s neck for a very short time. In other words, it was a temporary tattoo.

The Emma Watson artist–Cheyenne Randall–is known for her temporary images of celebrities, and for displaying them with obvious anomalies–like one of Audrey Hepburn with a tattoo.

“I have a tendency to stoke fires, so I started tattooing peoples faces. The social commentary is a part of the project now. I defend tattooing all day long,” Randall said in a recent interview with the Huffington Post.

It seems James Franco took notice of Randall’s photoshopped art earlier in 2015 and recently requested a “hypothetical girlfriend tattoo.” Cheyenne Randall had recently seen Emma Watson and James Franco in This is the End, so opted for an Emma Watson image.

Were you among those wondering why James Franco was sporting Emma Watson on his neck? Or how about those wondering what Emma Watson’s reaction might be?

It seems it was all for fun. And since no wizards or warlocks were harmed in the creation of Emma Watson’s face, even Hermione Granger fans can likely forgive the artist.

  • Emma Watson, Nobel Prize Laureate Malala Yousafzai Join Forces to Champion Equality For Women

Emma Watson and the youngest ever Nobel Prize laureate Malala Yousafzai have used their powerful voices to champion equality for women.

According to the Christian Science Monitor, the Harry Potter actress, 25 and Yousafzai sat down for an interview Tuesday at the premiere of the documentary, He Named Me Malala, which chronicles the 18-year-old Pakistani education activist’s fight for girls and stars Watson, who serves as the interviewer.

The 23-minute video was posted on Watson’s Facebook page and has now been viewed nearly 4 million times.

Today I met Malala. She was giving, utterly graceful, compelling and intelligent. That might sound obvious but I was…

Posted by Emma Watson on Wednesday, November 4, 2015

In the video, Emma Watson, a UN ambassador for women, and Yousafzai bonded over many topics, including their brothers, Hillary Clinton, their love for the book A Thousand Splendid Suns, and most importantly, the definition of feminism.

“This word ‘feminist’ has been a very tricky word,” said Malala, to which Watson gasped in delight.

When I heard it for the first time, Malala goes on, “I hesitated in saying ‘I’m a feminist.’”

“Then after hearing your speech, when you said, ‘if not now, when? if not me, who?’,” Malala says, referring to Watson’s landmark UN speech about men participating in feminism, “I decided there’s nothing wrong with calling yourself a feminist. I am a feminist, and we all should be feminists because feminism is another word for equality.”

Time magazine reports that Emma Watson said the most profound moment of their interview was when Yousafzai identified herself as a feminist, saying that she was surprised to hear the Yousafzai use the hot-button word.

“I think this gesture is so emblematic of what Malala and I went on to discuss. I’ve spoken before on what a controversial word feminism is currently,” Emma Watson wrote on Facebook. “I want to make it a welcoming and inclusive movement. Let’s join our hands and move together so we can make real change. Malala and I are pretty serious about it but we need you.”

  • Emma Watson: Why James Franco Sports Fresh Tattoo of Her Head

Emma Watson now appears on James Franco’s neck. No, the two aren’t involved romantically. It seems the Spring Breakers star got inked with Emma Watson’s head. The detail is amazing. The likeness uncanny.

Franco even took to social media to share his love of the new tattoo–and of the character Emma Watson played in the Harry Potter series of films. Too bad he didn’t spell the name correctly.

“I ❤️ Hermoine. Ink by @indiangiver,” James Franco captioned the Instagram post of the image on his neck.

Emma Watson’s character’s name is “Hermione,” however–not “Hermione.”

A photo posted by James Franco (@jamesfrancotv) on

Known for being rather unique–to put it mildly–James Franco visited tattoo artist Cheyenne Randall, who is known for her work on photoshop masterpieces. Certainly Randall’s work is impressive–but that doesn’t explain why Emma Watson’s entire head is on Franco’s neck.

Do you find that to be just a little bit creepy?

It will certainly be interesting to learn Emma Watson’s take on this tattoo. It will be even more interesting to learn if she and James Franco have ever met.

  • Emma Watson Sparks Romance Rumors, Actress Spotted With Roberto Aguire

It seems like things are starting to look up for Emma Watson and her love life after her breakup with rugby player Matthew Janney last December.

Everyone got excited when rumors of her newfound romance with Prince Harry circulated last February, but Watson immediately denied it.

Last Sunday, Watson was seen on a lunch date with a man identified as actor/producer, Roberto Aguire in Los Feliz, California.

People should not get their hopes up just yet, though, as Watson and Aguire are apparently just longtime friends who met each other during Aguire’s internship on the set of 2005’s Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

“I was doing an internship in the special effects department at the time. And one day we had a chance encounter that led to us spending half a day together exchanging stories and dance moves,” Aguire said.

Aguire and Watson had made red carpet appearances in the past, adding more to the speculation that they are now dating. But Aguire said that he and Watson have only been best friends ever since they met.

“We never really lost touch after that and now she’s one of my best friends,” Aguire said.

Best friends or not, Watson and Aguire undeniably look good together and they do have a lot in common, including dancing.

“They started dancing together in a hallway and that’s what sparked the friendship,” a source said.

Apart from dancing they both share a high appreciation for the importance of education. Aguire graduated from New York University while Watson graduated from Brown University.

Perhaps Watson and Aguire could be together after Watson figures out how to feel at home with herself. The actress said she needed to take a step back after her breakup with Janney and spend some time on her own.

“The boyfriends or partners I’ve had have generally made me feel really cherished. They’ve built me up. I certainly haven’t found that with doing all that I do or being all that I am, that I’ve struggled in my love life,” Watson said in her Vogue UK interview.

  • Emma Watson Praises Douglas Booth For UN Gender Equality Speech

Emma Watson praised actor Douglas Booth for a speech he gave on Wednesday for UN Women, the UN entity for gender equality and women’s empowerment.

Watson told Booth on Twitter that she’s “very proud” to call him her friend.

The speech was part of the HeForShe GetFree University Tour at the London School of Economics. Booth urged students to get involved with HeForShe movement and “take action toward gender equality.”

You can watch the key remarks here:

Emma Watson recently made headlines for speaking up about sexism in Hollywood. She also talked about how men can be feminists and how women are “just as guilty of discriminating against women.”

Watson has also worked with the UN on the issue of gender equality.

  • Emma Watson: “Some Of The Best Feminists I’ve Encountered Are Men”

Emma Watson spoke up recently on the issue of sexism in Hollywood, saying it’s still an unfortunate truth these days. However, she did say that she isn’t laying blame on anyone in particular, and that men can be feminists, too.

The former Harry Potter star called out her female peers for being catty with one another, noting that guys don’t really have that issue and are free to just support women.

“Women are just as guilty of discriminating against women. Some of the best feminists I have encountered are men. Some women can be incredibly prejudiced against other women!” Watson said.

Emma feels so passionately about men joining the fight for equality that she started her own movement–the HeForShe campaign–which has garnered over 500,000 followers and urges men to support the battle women face every day just to be viewed as equal to their male peers. And while she says she has seen that inequality at work quite a bit in Hollywood–where, she admits, she’s only had two female directors over the course of her career as opposed to 17 male ones–it’s not just there.

“I think my work with the UN has probably made me even more aware of the problems. I went out for a work dinner recently. It was seven men… and me,” Emma Watson said.

The actress has worked with the U.N. as a Goodwill Ambassador since last year and gave a very successful speech for them about her campaign. Now, she says, she feels like she’s doing what she’s meant to be doing.

“Part of me relaxed after I took on that position, it gave me a sense of belonging and purpose. Everything clicked into place, in a way that it hadn’t before. I understood what I’m here to do and knew where to channel all this energy that has been coming at me. I now feel this sense of peace. People say that I’m different since I did it,” Emma Watson told Vogue U.K. earlier this year.

  • Emma Watson Talks Being “Uncomfortable” After Breakup

Emma Watson recently spoke about her split from Matt Janney, saying she had to take time to figure out how to be alone after the breakup.

The former Harry Potter star may seem like she has it all together, but with some things, she’s just like us, and that includes dealing with what she calls a “horrendous” split from her boyfriend. For Watson, that included going to a retreat in the Rocky Mountains and taking a vow of silence for a week.

“I felt really uncomfortable. Even before my relationship ended, I went on a silent retreat because I really wanted to figure out how to be at home with myself,” Emma said.

While that may sound extreme to some, it’s important to keep in mind that Emma is not your average young woman. Being in the public eye takes a toll on many relationships, and being an international superstar adds another level of craziness. Every move the actress makes is carefully studied and speculated upon, and rumors fly around the web every day as to who she might be dating. Earlier this year it was Prince Harry.

“Harry didn’t want her to feel like she was put on the spot. A party also shows he’s fun and not stuffy. He’s smitten – and it’s more than Emma’s looks,” a source said.

Emma said in an interview with Vogue UK that the idea–put forth by the media–that her success intimidates the men in her life simply demeans them.

“The boyfriends or partners I’ve had have generally made me feel really cherished. They’ve built me up. I certainly haven’t found that with doing all that I do or being all that I am, that I’ve struggled in my love life. I just think it’s very patronizing towards men. It undermines them,” Emma Watson said.

  • Emma Murphy Posts Heartbreaking Viral Video, Apparent Victim Of Domestic Abuse

Emma Murphy, a famous fitness blogger living in Dublin, had been going back and forth on whether to post a video of herself talking about her recent tragic experience. She finally did and uploaded the video on Facebook.

“I finally decided after a lot of thinking that, yeah, I need to do this for me and my children. I need to raise awareness to the women out there,” Murphy shared.

Murphy, 26, had been a partner to Francis Usanga for three and a half years. She described him as the love of her life until one day she’s had enough.

A year ago, a woman contacted Murphy and revealed to her of her partner’s infidelity. The woman who admitted that she was a client of Usanga also told Murphy that she is carrying Usanga’s child.

The unfortunate news caused Murphy, who was also pregnant at that time, to go into early labor due to the stress it brought.

But Murphy, who at that time wanted to have a perfect family, forgave him.

Last Friday, Murphy found out that Usanga cheated on her again. The mother of two finally had the courage and went to the gym to confront her partner. Only to go home with a bruised face and a black eye.

Usanga, 28, insists in a statement that he had pushed Murphy, that the force had caused the bruise on her face, and not because of him punching her.

She moved back to her mother’s and said on the video, “Do what I did, run straight to your family and friends and tell them you need them around you.”

“This gave me the strength and courage I needed. I realized I wasn’t on my own and that I could do this,” said Emma Murphy.

The extremely emotional video has now been shared 90,000 by supporters all over the world and by Wednesday morning, it garnered 5 million views.
