  • Emma Stone in Talks to Play Sally Bowles in Cabaret

A few days after MTV rolled out a fun set of Emma Stone emojis (Emma-jis), it has been reported that the 25-year old actress is in negotiations to appear as Sally Bowles in Kander and Ebb’s musical Cabaret.

Last year Stone abandoned the idea of making her first Broadway appearance due to scheduling conflicts, but apparently the lure of the Kit Kat Klub is too strong.

Last week a representative told JustJared.com, “I can confirm that Emma Stone is in negotiations to make her Broadway debut as ‘Sally Bowles’ in Cabaret on Broadway at Roundabout Theatre Company.”

If the talks go through, Stone will be replacing Michelle Williams who has extended her run until November 9 with revival original Alan Cummings. However, unless the run is extended, Stone will only be in for a two-month run since the show is scheduled to close on January 4, 2015.

The story, based on a book by Christopher Isherwood, revolves around a young cabaret performer and her relationship with an American writer. Overseeing the action in the show is the Master of Ceremonies, now being played by Cummings. It premiered on Broadway in 1966 starring Joel Grey as the Emcee and then in London in 1968, starring Judy Dench as Sally Bowles.

The film version, directed by choreographer Bob Fosse, came in 1972 and starred Liza Minelli and Joel Grey.

Besides the Cabaret talks, Stone also has her schedule full of a handful of upcoming films.

The Amazing Spider-Man actress will appear with Michael Keaton in Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu’s upcoming film, Birdman, the story of a washed-up superhero actor who plots to make his comeback in a Broadway play. Birdman is scheduled for release on October 17.

Stone also appears alongside Colin Firth in Woody Allen’s new romantic comedy Magic in the Moonlight, which opened last Friday. But, despite the appearance of two strong actors, the reviews labeled this film as “bland and forgettable.”

In 2015, Stone is set appear in another Woody Allen project, as well as one with Almost Famous director Cameron Crowe. So perhaps a short run in Cabaret is exactly what she needs.

  • Emma Stone May Soon Make Her Broadway Debut in ‘Cabaret’, Replacing Michelle Williams

Emma Stone may soon be donning fishnets and a bowler hat for her Broadway debut in Cabaret.

The Super Bad actress was slated to star in the Broadway revival of Cabaret last year but had to pull out due to scheduling conflict.

Roundabout Theatre Company said Monday that Stone is once again in negotiations to play Sally Bowles, the flirtatious, intoxicating heiress turned showgirl who steals the heart of an American writer visiting Berlin’s seedy Kit Kat Klub, the setting of the musical.

The 25-year-old actress would replace Michelle Williams, who extended her run as Bowles alongside Alan Cumming through Nov. 9.

Set in 1931 Berlin, Cabaret centers around the world of the Kit Kat Klub in Nazi Germany. The songs by John Kander and Fred Ebb include Willkommen and Tomorrow Belongs to Me.

Williams took on the role when the Spider Man actress had to withdraw last year and received mixed reviews.

Ben Brantley of the New York Times wrote a less than stellar review of the actress’ portrayal of Bowles.

“The promiscuous, hard-partying Sally is now embodied by a very brave Michelle Williams, who doesn’t look all that happy to be there. I’m assuming that’s more a matter of character interpretation than of personal discomfort, but it does put sort of a damper on the festivities,” wrote Brantley.

“Given that she played Marilyn Monroe in the 2011 film My Week With Marilyn, for which she received an Oscar nomination, Ms. Williams obviously knows about wrestling with the ghosts of sexy performances past. But for some reason, she has chosen to tamp down any evidence of spontaneous sensuality.”

Liza Minelli won an Academy Award for her portrayal of Bowles in the 1972 film adaption of the musical.

  • Emma Stone, Colin Firth Dish on Working With Their Mutual Idol — Woody Allen

Emma Stone, Colin Firth Dish on Working With Their Mutual Idol — Woody Allen

Emma Stone and Colin Firth, 53, may be decades apart in age, but they’ve shared a common dream — to work with director Woody Allen.

Now that their dream has been realized with the film Magic in the Moonlight, the longtime Allen fans opened up about the real experience of working with the Annie Hall actor and director.

Stone, who’s family dog is named Alvy after Allen’s Annie Hall character, says her first encounter with the legendary director was a little unsettling.

“I was incredibly nervous,” said the 25-year-old actress. “You don’t get to know him first, there’s no rehearsal, you don’t see him before shooting.”

As for Firth, he said Allen’s work had a very influential role in his own life and career, so it meant a great deal when he received the call from Allen.

“This person’s work had such a specific role to play in my whole relation with movies,” he said. “To suddenly be invited to join the narrative a bit is thrilling.”

The long-anticipated call from the 78-year-old director was not exactly what Firth expected.

“I thought he’d asked for the call, and it turns out he thought I’d asked for it,” said Firth. “Cate (Blanchett) told me the same happened to her with Blue Jasmine.”

And it wasn’t as if the two chatted the night away or shared much of their personal histories.

“It wasn’t of the ‘Welcome to the film!’ variety,” says Firth. “It was just sort of, ‘Cut to the chase.’”

In the film, which opened last week, Firth plays Stanley, a cynical magician who wants to expose Sophie, a young American medium, as the fraud he believes her to be.

Unfortunately, Firth’s skills in magic are, shall we say, limited.

“I was called upon to perform a simple card trick. That was the only time I saw a hint of impatience from Woody,” said the Pride and Prejudice actor. “He was just sighing.” The scene was eventually cut.

Firth said many of the stories surrounding Allen turned out to be myths.

“There are a lot of stories,” said Firth. “He doesn’t really direct, don’t expect him to make jokes on the set, that sort of thing. No. He directs, and he was funny.”

  • Anne Hathaway Copies Emma Stone’s Idea

Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield seem to be a powerful couple and even have other celebrity couples copying their creative antics.

Anne Hathaway and husband Adam Shulman were recently photographed on Independence Day carrying cardboard signs in front of their faces while walking down the street.

Why the signs? Apparently Stone an Garfield came up with a genius way to hide from the paparazzi and contribute to charities as well. Hathaway and Shulman thought this would be an excellent idea to avoid the paparazzi as they walked their dogs around the neighborhood.

“Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield had a great idea! Please check out: www.girleffect.org, www.feedingamerica.org, www.worldofchildren.org,” Hathaway’s sign read. Shulman’s sign simply read, “Happy 4th of July!!”

If you are not familiar with the charities that Hathaway was promoting, here is some background information.

    The Girl Effect

The Girl Effect was created by the Nike Foundation along with the NoVo Foundation, United Nations Foundation and Coalition for Adolescent Girls. “The girl effect is a movement. It’s about leveraging the unique potential of adolescent girls to end poverty for themselves, their families, their communities, their countries and the world,” the website reads. “It’s about making girls visible and changing their social and economic dynamics by providing them with specific, powerful and relevant resources.”

    Feeding America

Feeding America focuses on trying to end hunger in the United States. “Feeding America is the nation’s leading domestic hunger-relief charity,” the website explains. “Our mission is to feed America’s hungry through a nationwide network of member food banks and engage our country in the fight to end hunger.” To make a donation to the cause click here.

    World of Children Award

  • Hailee Steinfeld: ‘Pitch Perfect 2’ Star Talks Taylor Swift

Hailee Steinfeld: ‘Pitch Perfect 2’ Star Talks Taylor Swift

Hailee Steinfeld is on board for the upcoming film Pitch Perfect 2, and she likely shared her excitement about getting the role with friend Taylor Swift. While some believe the two are merely social media friends, they’re actually great pals in real life, too.

Hailee covers the May issue of Nylon and within its pages shares a few tidbits about their friendship.

Taylor’s “an amazing friend,” she says.

“I always get the ‘Tell us something nobody knows [about Taylor] question,” Steinfeld continues. “And it’s like, we both respect each other tremendously, but we choose to keep our friendship out of the public eye. She’s a really great person and an inspiration to me and many others.”

Hailee describes herself in Nylon as a “normal teenager.”

“It is about being honest,” she explains. “People live different lifestyles, and I always find an equivalency: If I’m filming or going to and audition it’s [the same as] my friends going school or dance class. I think everyone lives the same way and encounters the same sort of life.”

The Amazing Spider-Man 2’s own Emma Stone is the one who introduced Hailee Steinfeld to Steinfeld said about Swift. “We just love to kick back, listen to music, watch TV, bake, watch movies and all of that kind of stuff.”

The two girls were spotted just last weekend in New York having dinner. They also had a blast during awards season, dancing at a Golden Globes after party. They will likely enjoy some sort of celebration for Hailee getting her Pitch Perfect 2 role.

Give today’s celebrity presence, Hailee Steinfeld could certainly have chosen far worse people to hang out with than Taylor Swift. At least the We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together singer serves as a decent, wholesome role model for the 17-year-old.

  • Jennifer Lawrence Named ‘Sexiest Woman in the World’

Jennifer Lawrence has inherited the crown of the “Sexiest Women in the World” from Mila Kunis this year.

The men’s magazine FHM released their annual list, and the Oscar-winner has won the title because, according to the magazine, she is “so freaking cool”.

In addition to her obvious talent and natural beauty, FHM notes the Hunger Games actress’s new short do – which is being copied by sweet young things world-wide – and her photo-bomb during Taylor Swift’s interview with Ryan Seacrest at the Golden Globes.

“The past 12 months have seen Jennifer’s career rocket off into the stratosphere,” the magazine wrote about the American Hustle actress.

British actress Michelle Keegan – who stars in Coronation Street – came in second, although she was named “sexiest woman in the UK” by the magazine.

“I’m totally taken back by this, it really does mean a lot,” said Keegan in a statement. “Thank you so much to the readers of FHM and everyone who took the time and voted for me, I’m so flattered. I believe that being ‘sexy’ isn’t wearing lots of heavy make-up or having the perfect hair or figure, it’s about self confidence, being comfortable with yourself, smiling and being happy!”

Rihanna finished third and model Emily Ratajkowski and Kaley Cuoco rounded out the top five spots.

Last year’s winner – and mom-to-beMila Kunis finished sixth this year.

Other names on the list include Beyonce (7), Scarlett Johansson (10), Emilia Clarke (11; she was recently dubbed ‘Most Desirable’ by AskMen, ironically knocking off Jennifer Lawrence), Katy Perry (12), Emma Stone (20), Taylor Swift (27), Zooey Deschanel (34), Jennifer Aniston (36), Kim Kardashian (38), Selena Gomez (56), Miley Cyrus (79) and Shakira (87).

Past queens of the “Sexiest Women in the World” list include Megan Fox (2008), Jessica Alba (2007), Keira Knightley (2006), Britney Spears (2004), Halle Berry (2003) and Jennifer Lopez (2001 and 2000).

  • Emma Stone Rocks Sexy Cutouts at ‘Spider-Man 2’ Premiere

Emma Stone rocked a sexy dress replete with cutouts at the New York premiere of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 on Thursday evening. The slip dress, designed by Prada, was nude in color but lent itself perfectly to her red hair and porcelain skin. Onyx and silver paillettes accented the straps and bodice. Just enough bare skin to stay classy while looking incredibly hot met many an eye between Stone’s armpit and waist.

Makeup artist Rachel Goodwin played up Emma Stone’s lips prior to the big event, blending a dark colored lip stain to offset her light skin. She added a skin illuminator and just a hint of blush to complement both the gown and the actress.

“Overall we wanted to create a look that was very glamorous and modern but with a 1970’s twist,” Goodwin said in a press release. “I definitely focused on luminous glowy skin and bold berry lips.”

Mara Roszak, the hairstylist who has styled Stone’s impeccable looks during the promotional tour, created textured loose waves for the film’s premiere. Emma debuted bangs on Thursday–a style that further enhances her natural good looks.

Emma Stone plays the role of Gwen Stacy in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, starring opposite her real life boyfriend Andrew Garfield. Garfield recently had some amazing things to say about his leading lady–both on and off screen.

Is The Amazing Spider-Man 2 on your list of must-see films? It is likely to top the box office in earnings by the end of the weekend. Fans have long awaited the second part of the 2012 film. In addition to Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield, the film also stars Jamie Foxx, Dane DeHaan, Campbell Scott, Embeth Davidtz, Colm Feore, Paul Giamatti, And Sally Field. It will play in both 2D and 3D, and beginning in May can be seen in IMAX 3D as well.

  • Emma Stone Promotes Spider-Man Film in Japan

Emma Stone and her Amazing Spider-Man 2 co-stars Andrew Garfield and Jamie Foxx promoted the new film in Japan on Sunday.

Stone wowed the crowd — and her boyfriend, Garfield — at the promotional event, in a short, chic black mini dress that featured a colorful bib. Garfield was a little more low-key donning tartan pants with a black sweatshirt and blue shirt. Foxx looked dashing in a pair of jeans and a plaid button-down shirt underneath a dark sweater.

The trio shared the stage with two young Spider-Man fans who were dressed in costume. They also shot streams of Kabuki-style spider silks at the audience, and then at each other. Stone playfully arranged the webbing over Garfield’s face.

The stars arrived in the eastern country the day before, some looking exhausted after their long flights. Stone appeared tired but still fresh-faced and fashionable in a black and white checked blouse, black pants, a gray cardigan, and a black beanie. She also arrived makeup-free.

Her man also kept things casual. He arrived to the airport in black pants, a white T-shirt, and a gray cardigan. He looked deep in thought as he walked through, and had a five-o’clock shadow.

Foxx trailed close behind Peter Parker, sporting a black windbreaker and athletic pants. He also donned the cutest accessory ever, his daughter Annalise, who hung around the actor’s waist.

Spider-Man is quite popular in Japan and the film is expected to do quite well there when it is released internationally next month.

Garfield revealed recently one of the reasons why he is so good at player the superhero.

‘It’s a miracle that I ever make it on stage or in front of a camera,” Garfield stated in an interview. “I get riddled with self doubt, but so does Peter Parker. That’s the reason why I adored him. Here’s a kid who feels like me and yet manages to drag himself into that spandex. He makes sure he gives everything he has.”

  • Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield Surf in Hawaii

The Amazing Spiderman duo Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield spent some time catching waves in Hawaii last week with surfer, Roy Russell.

Russell, known as “The Dog,” is a 60-year old legendary surfer who runs the Rory Russell Surf School at Kona, Hawaii. Over the years he beat surfing records in the Pipeline Masters and the Hawaiian Pros.

Stone, 25, and Garfield, 30, have been dating since summer of 2011 and enjoyed some time in the water on January 3, surfing, wiping out, and laughing.

According to US Magazine, “They want to marry and have a family. They’re discussing it. Their schedules have been crazy, but they’re madly in love.”

However, the couple attempts to keep their relationship out of the limelight. Last year when Garfield was asked about Stone and if there was a “danger in taking work home,” he said, “Well, you’re assuming something there, which I will not be commenting about.”

Garfield, born in Los Angeles in 1983, maintains a dual citizenship between the United States and the United Kingdom, where his mother and paternal grandparents are from. His family moved back overseas when he was three years old, living in Epsom, Surrey.

During the ski sessions, Stone wore a long-sleeved shirt and shorts over a bikini and Garfield wore blue striped board shorts and a tank top.

In the sequel to The Amazing Spiderman, Stone and Garfield will continue to play the onscreen couple Gwen Stacy and Peter Parker.

The Amazing Spiderman 2 hits theaters in May 2014.

  • Amazing Spider-Man 2: The Trailer Has Arrived [Video]

For all the superhero film lovers out there, the Amazing Spider-Man 2 trailer has finally arrived. With much anticipation about the plot, and what villains will be present in the next film, the trailer does a great job at spoiling all of that.

The new trailer for Amazing Spider-Man 2 presents Spider-Man fans with multiple villains and a ton of action in order to get everyone excited about the new film. Instead of seeing Tobey Maguire in the role, fans will see a return from Andrew Garfield, who played Peter Parker/Spider-Man in the reboot of the series, which was released in 2012.

After the first three Spider-Man films were made, a reboot was done, switching the title to Amazing Spider-Man, which is also what a line of the comics have been called for a long time. Peter Parker sees his enemies continue to grow with one thing in common, that they are all connected in some way to OsCorp, run by his old best friend’s father, Norman Osborn.

The film features an excellent cast once again, and in addition to Andrew Garfireld as Peter Parker and Emma Stone playing Gwen Stacy, Paul Giamatti and Jamie Foxx will both be seen as new villains. Dane Dehaan, who has been seen in several films in the past year, will be playing Harry Osborn, who will certainly have some dirty tricks up his sleeve as well.

Throughout the Amazing Spider-Man 2 trailer, several new villains are able to be spotted including Electro (Foxx), Rhino (Giamatti), and even a glimpse of Vulture’s wings will have fans talking. Harry and his father, Norman Osborn, return as well, with plans of their own. This sets up for all sorts of plot ideas, and with plenty more to come, as sequels are already set up for 2016 and 2018.

The new film, Amazing Spider-Man 2, is set to be released on May 2nd, 2014, shortly before its predecessor, which was released on July 4th.

  • Angelina Jolie Tops List Of Top Earning Actresses

Angelina Jolie Tops List Of Top Earning Actresses

Angelina Jolie has not quite been in the spotlight over the last year, but that has not stopped her from making more money than any other actress over that time.

According to Forbes, Jolie earned $33 million between June 2012 and June 2013 despite dropping from the public eye. Jolie’s absence was understandable given the double mastectomy she underwent earlier in the year. Despite her misfortune, Jolie was still able to produce, direct the Bosnian War film “In The Land of Blood and Honey”, voice a character in “Kung Fu Panda 2”, and perform other duties that earned her such a hefty total.

Second place on the list was Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence. The “Silver Linings Playbook” star earned $26 million in the past year. Lawrence was able to rack up such a healthy bank account due to her Oscar winning role in that film, as well as her portrayal of Katniss Everdeen in “The Hunger Games”, a role which she will reprise in the upcoming “Catching Fire” as well as the trilogy ending “Mocking Jay”.

Actress Kristen Stewart took third place with a reported $22 million. The rest of the list was rounded out by big names like Jennifer Aniston, Emma Stone, Charlize Theron, Sandra Bullock, Natalie Portman, Mila Kunis, and Julia Roberts, who starred in Snow White retelling “Mirror Mirror”.

While Jolie’s earnings were more than impressive, she is still dwarfed by the $75 million raked in by Robert Downey Jr., who topped the list of top-earning actors thanks to his role as Tony Stark in “The Avengers” and “Iron Man 3”.

  • Emma Stone, Andrew Garfield Break Record with Spider-Man

Emma Stone is, quite frankly, the only reason I want to see director Marc Webb’s “The Amazing Spider-Man”. The idea of sitting through yet another Peter Parker/Spider-Man origin story doesn’t sound overly appealing, though the allure of Emma Stone might be enough to separate me from the wad of money in my wallet. Call me shallow if you wish, but Stone’s limitless appeal is enough to put this guy’s butt into a well-worn theater seat.

Speaking of “The Amazing Spider-Man”, the film broke records on Tuesday, amassing nearly $35 million in ticket sales. As a result, Webb’s web-slinging cinematic adventure has the highest Tuesday gross in history, a title previously held by Michael Bay’s “Transformers”. This, of course, is pretty good news for the suits at Sony Pictures, who reportedly rushed the feature into production in order to retain the rights to the franchise. It would seem the gamble is paying off.

As for Stone, she arrived at the North American premiere dressed a bit more casually than we’re used to seeing her. In fact, everyone in the embedded photo — including her real-life boyfriend and star Andrew Garfield — dressed down for the occasion. Honestly, it’s not the most flattering of images for all involved, but at least Stone doesn’t look quite as lost as her co-stars.

Marc Webb’s “The Amazing Spider-Man” is currently in theaters.

  • Emma Stone: The Amazing Spider-man Sequel, Love, and Dying Young

Emma Stone: The Amazing Spider-man Sequel, Love, and Dying Young

Emma Stone has been on a whirlwind promo tour for tomorrow’s release of The Amazing Spider-man. And with all the frenzy of interview after interview, she may have accidentally leaked some need-to-know information to the press. She recently hinted at a sequel to The Amazing Spider-man, according to Showbizspy. According to the celebrity gossip publication, the Gwen Stacy actress is quoted as saying “Uh, yeah, we’re going to make another Spiderman… I think, so…” before being taken away by her publicist.

You never know with this kind of stuff, but given Hollywood’s love of sequels and inability to come up with original material, a sequel does seem likely. But do we really need to be worrying about that at this point. The Amazing Spider-man hasn’t even been released in the US yet. Let’s see how this one goes first.

Stone also talked with i09 recently about her role as Gwen Stacy in the new Spider-man update: “In terms of her as a character, [it was] kind of a hodgepodge of different versions of Gwen. I know she’s not very hippieish, and I don’t think she will ever be birthing Norman Osborn’s twins [like in the comics]. I don’t think that will be happening, or moving to London. We tried to keep some of that moxie in there, and some of that self-assuredness. She’s the daughter of a police chief. She’s the oldest daughter and there’s that responsibility that kicks in when she thinks that he could die any day. I think it was important that she took on that energy of being in charge of her family. And unwittingly she’s drawn to a man who is in the same position, a little Electra thing going on there.” So her version of Gwen Stacy will take the qualities of her character without going through the drama that lead up to it. We will see a toned down character in this version.

She goes on to talk about how she sees the love story aspect of The Amazing Spiderman. Stone really wanted to capture the innocence of first love with her role as Gwen: “I wanted again to experience that feeling of first love, before you know what it’s like to get your heart completely shattered. That life or death love, where you say, “I know what love is!” But in this circumstance, it actually is life or death. I wanted to feel that again. I wanted to unlearn. Go from the very beginning of, “Oh my God, there’s an attraction to another human being, in a way I’ve never felt that way before what is this?” It was a matter of unlearning, and letting yourself be 17 in these moments. It’s fun you guys should try it, it’s pretty cool, it’s pretty cool to feel that way.”

On a more personal note, Stone recently talked to ShowbizSpy about her fascination with death. An obsession that led to fits of anxiety and seeking therapy as a child. “I’m close to my mortality, not in a freaky way but constantly. I feel hyperaware that everything could end. That’s always been in my mind, for whatever reason, since I was very small,” she said. “I was in therapy for two years as a kid. As someone with anxiety you’re constantly waiting for the next attack. I think I tend to worry more when things are good. I know those things will change.”

  • Emma Stone Has Jim Carrey’s Eternal Love

Emma Stone Has Jim Carrey’s Eternal Love

Although her new film isn’t getting love from everyone, actress Emma Stone apparently has one devoted admirer: Jim Carrey.

In a video posted to the Canadian actor’s website, jimcarreytrulife.com (currently down, presumably from traffic), he shamelessly proclaims his love for Miss Stone. He tells her how she is “all-the-way beautiful, not just pretty but smart a kind-hearted.” He then goes on to discuss their hypothetical sex life and the hypothetical “freckle-faced” kids that they would have together.

    Check it out below –

Personally I like how the video eventually becomes a meditation on aging, with Carrey discussing the “only discernible” byproducts of the aging process.

This video is today’s big thing on the internet and has achieved viral status. Twitter seems to be debating whether the video is funny or a bit creepy.
