Emma Stone Slated to Play Rosemary Kennedy In Biopic About the Mentally-Ill Sister of JFK

Emma Stone has been asked to take on the role of Rosemary Kennedy in a new biopic about the mentally-ill sister of John F Kennedy, Jr..

According to Variety, the Oscar-nominated actress will portray the eldest daughter of Joseph and Rose Kennedy, and sibling to senators Robert F. Kennedy and Ted Kennedy, during her final days in Letters to Rosemary.

Rosemary led a difficult life and was one of the first people in America to undergo a prefrontal lobotomy at the age of 23.

The botched lobotomy, which left the young woman permanently incapacitated, will be the focus of the film penned by Nick Yarborough.

The script explores the moments leading up to the lobotomy, what happened during the procedure and the lasting affects on the family in the years following the procedure.

Rosemary Kennedy was reportedly an affectionate and dutiful daughter who was always eager to please her father. After displaying behavioral problems that caused her to fall behind the achievements of her siblings, Joseph Kennedy arranged the lobotomy. A year later, that same young woman was unable to form a sentence, which became one of many dark family secrets and a source of shame and embarrassment for the family.

The film starring Emma Stone has been on the coveted Black List of unproduced screenplays and is currently being shopped to studios and independent financiers. So far no one has shown interest just yet.

  • Emma Stone Attends Adele Concert With Jennifer Lawrence

Emma Stone attended an Adele concert in L.A. on Friday night, putting the group of three friends in the same setting for the second time since November.

It was just a few months back that Emma Stone, Adele, and Jennifer Lawrence all had dinner together in New York City, much to the chagrin of young women everywhere, who so wished they could be part of this unique mix of girlfriends.

Other A-list attendees at Adele’s concert included Woody Harrelson, Tom Hanks, and Rita Wilson, but it’s likely none received the whispers and looks of admiration Emma Watson and Jennifer Lawrence got.

Earlier this month, Lawrence talked about her friendship with both Emma Stone and Adele in an interview with Glamour magazine.

“I love Emma. She cracks me up; she’s so ‘theater.’ She’s so adorable,” Lawrence said. “Adele and I met, like, a year or so ago. Adele and I are a bit harsher; Emma’s never had a bad thought about anybody in her life. It’s so weird; I don’t like new people. But these two women–and Amy Schumer–they’re really lovely. And they’re so normal. I feel like I’m hanging out with my friends–my friends that don’t give a f–k about what I do.”

Emma Stone, Jennifer Lawrence, and Adele are certainly a diverse trio of friends. How much fun do you suppose it might be to be included in one of their adventures?

  • Emma Stone Could Be the Next Cruella de Vil

Emma Stone is reportedly in early talks to play an iconic role.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Stone is in negotiations to play Cruella de Vil in the upcoming film Cruella.

The film is a live-action origin story of the classic character from Disney’s 101 Dalmatians.

Of course, Stone wouldn’t be the first actress to play the originally-animated character on the big screen. Glenn Close had that honor back in 1996.

    More from THR:

The project, Disney’s live-action re-imagining of the 101 Dalmatians character, has no director but it is a priority for the studio which is hoping to shoot the film later this year.

Kelly Marcel is writing the script which is intended to be an origin story of the character. Aline Brosh McKenna worked on an early version of the script.

This July, you’ll be able to see Emma Stone in a musical called La La Land with Ryan Gosling.

La La Land, starring Crazy, Stupid, Love comrades Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling, is a musical set in modern-day L.A. The title is not intended as snark — as you can tell from this marvelously old-fashioned moment in the film, where we see a musician (Gosling) and a struggling actress (Stone) express their blossoming love for each other via a Fred Astaire/Ginger Rogers-inspired dance,” says Entertainment Weekly.

  • Emma Stone Reportedly Has “Amicable” Split From Andrew Garfield

Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield have been one of the golden couples of Hollywood for the past four years, and when speculation began to grow that they’d split earlier this year, Emma spoke up and said she didn’t like talking about such personal things. That may have been a hint that something wasn’t right, as the duo have reportedly broken things off for good.

According to E! News, Emma and Andrew decided to let each other go due to their insanely hectic schedules, something that was getting more and more difficult to work around. However, the two of them are still friends, according to a source, and still care about each other.

Emma told WSJ Magazine this summer that she didn’t like feeding the fire when it came to her personal life, because ultimately it doesn’t matter what she says; the media will spin it any way they want.

“See, I never talk about this stuff for this exact reason—because it’s all so speculative and baseless. Once you start responding—once you’re like, ‘No, that’s not true’—then they’re like, ‘Well, if we push enough, we’ll get a comment, so let’s see what else we can make up.’ I understand the interest in it completely, because I’ve had it, too. But it’s so special to me that it never feels good to talk about, so I just continually don’t talk about it. There’s probably some rebelliousness that comes out in me after all these stories and people texting you for weeks about something that, for the most part, is not true. But even when it’s false, I would rather just let it be false,” Emma Stone said.

Stone and Garfield reportedly took a break earlier this year while he was filming the Scorsese project Silence, but reunited soon after. The former couple always tried to keep their relationship for themselves and often trolled the paparazzi when they knew they were being followed, but sources say that’s not the reason for the split.

  • Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield Split Up for Good

Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield are done. The longtime couple split up a couple of months ago, but are on good terms with one another.

“There is definitely still love for each other there,” a source tells E! News. “They remain close and are on good terms.”

Schedules in both actors’ lives made maintaining a relationship difficult. Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield spent time apart earlier in 2015, which caused many to speculate they’d broken up back then.

Not long after that, however, the two were spotted together in public on numerous occasions, looking very much together.

In the July/August issue of the Wall Street Journal magazine, Emma Stone did her best to avoid talking about a split–that may have already happened at that time.

But it’s so special to me that it never feels good to talk about, so I just continually don’t talk about it.”

“There’s probably some rebelliousness that comes out in me after all these stories and people texting you for weeks about something that, for the most part, is not true. But even when it’s false, I would rather just let it be false,” she added.

There’s no debate over true or false this time. Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield are over. Fans of both are likely mourning the end of what appeared to be a fairy tale romance–but face it. Fairy tales don’t often come true.

Given the crazy lives both Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield live, it appears a magic act would be necessary to keep the romantic fires alive.

  • Woody Allen Film About Older Man and Younger Woman: Close To Home?

Woody Allen’s latest film, Irrational Man, is about an older man and a younger woman. Emma Stone stars as an undergrad who falls for her older professor, played by Joaquin Phoenix. Emma Stone is 26, while Joaquin Phoenix is 40.

But that age spread is nothing compared to Woody Allen’s actual marriage.

“I’ve been married now for 20 years, and it’s been good,” Woody Allen told NPR. “I think that was probably the odd factor that I’m so much older than the girl I married. I’m 35 years older, and somehow, through no fault of mine or hers, the dynamic worked.”

Woody Allen is married to Soon-Yi Previn, a romance which caused quite an uproar when the pair first got together.

“I was paternal,” Woody Allen says. “She responded to someone paternal. I liked her youth and energy. She deferred to me, and I was happy to give her an enormous amount of decision-making just as a gift and let her take charge of so many things. She flourished. It was just a good-luck thing.”

Characterizing his relationship with Soon-Yi as paternal seems an odd choice of words, especially since that dynamic is what caused the scandal in the first place. Soon-Yi Previn is the daughter of Mia Farrow, Woody Allen’s ex-partner/girlfriend. Allen and Farrow have a son together, who is therefore Soon-Yi’s brother.

“I started the relationship with her and I thought it would just be a fling, it wouldn’t be serious,” Allen says. “But it had a life of its own. And I never thought it would be anything more. Then we started going together, then we started living together, and we were enjoying it. And the age difference didn’t seem to matter. It seemed to work in our favor, actually.”

Woody Allen says Irrational Man is not about him. But the May-December romance dynamic certainly seems to hit close to home.

  • Emma Thompson Serves Up Four-Letter Words Over Hollywood Sexism

Emma Thompson is not impressed with how Hollywood handles women, especially women of a certain age. And that age is not nearly as high as you might think. Add to that the expectations and “beauty standards” that actresses are expected to meet, and Emma Thompson is actually a little pissed off.

“I think it’s still completely shit actually,” Thompson candidly informed Radio Times. “I don’t think there’s any appreciable improvement and I think that for women, the question of how they are supposed to look is worse than it was even when I was young. So, no, I am not impressed at all.”

A classic example of how what Emma Thompson is so fired up about works in Hollywood was brought to light this year by Maggie Gyllenhaal.

“I’m 37,” Gyllenhaal said, “and I was told recently I was too old to play the lover of a man who was 55. It was astonishing to me. It made me feel bad, and then it made me feel angry, and then it made me laugh.”

The practice of getting younger actresses to play older roles runs contrary to what had long been the classic wisdom in film and theatre. Used to be, you got an actor to play down in age. The logic was that this person had already been through that part of life and could represent it accurately and with honesty.

But now Hollywood swings the other way, putting looks above experience and skill. Story lines pairing younger actresses with older leading men are quite common.

Emma Stone recently addressed this. Stone herself has been the beneficiary of such castings. But she won’t be young forever.

“It’s rampant in Hollywood and it’s definitely been that way for a long time, both culturally and in movies,” Stone says. “But in Irrational Man, the film is contingent upon the age difference; the movie is about that disparity. And when I did Magic in the Moonlight, Colin Firth and I talked about the gap which was huge, absolutely, because he was born the same year as my dad,” Stone says.

As for Thompson, her latest film, The Legend of Barney Thompson, casts her as older. Thompson is only 56, but was cast as a 77-year-old woman.

“It would be really nice to get someone who is actually 77 to play her,” Thompson said, “but it’s a wildly comic role and I couldn’t resist.”

The occasional role cast younger is one thing, but Hollywood seems to have a deep-seated issue with older actresses now.

“When I was younger,” Emma Thompson says, “I really did think we were on our way to a better world and when I look at it now, it is in a worse state than I have known it, particularly for women and I find that very disturbing and sad.”

“So I get behind as many young female performers as I can and actually a lot of the conversations I have with them are about exactly the fact that we are facing and writing about the same things and nothing has changed, and that some forms of sexism and unpleasantness to women have become more entrenched and indeed more prevalent.”

  • Emma Stone Plays Much Younger Love Interest in Woody Allen Film. Again.

Woody Allen is so smitten with Emma Stone, he can’t say enough.

“Her allure is everything: She’s beautiful, she’s bright, she’s gifted, she’s sexy, she’s intelligent, she can do comedy, she can do serious things, she sings, she dances, she’s a pleasure to work with,”

Woody Allen cast Emma Stone in his film Irrational Man. Stone plays an undergrad who falls for an older college professor.

“I think she’s going to be the biggest female star in America over the next couple years,” Allen enthused about his leading lady. “She’s phenomenal. It’s just a pleasure to, you know, you come in in the morning at 7:30 on the set, and there’s Emma Stone: Your heart gets a little boost of adrenaline.”

So does that mean Woody Allen will keep casting Emma Stone?

“Well, she’s not in my next film,” he says. “But if I had anything that was right for her – and she was not doing another film at the time, she was available – I’d certainly hope that she would do it.”

And what about Emma Stone? Maybe that depends on if she would be again cast as a younger woman involved with an older man. Irrational Man was the fourth film in which Stone played a woman in a relationship with an older man.

Stone was opposite Bradley Cooper in Aloha, Ed Norton in Birdman, Colin Firth in Magic in the Moonlight, and now opposite Joaquin Phoenix in Irrational Man.

Remember that Maggie Gyllenhaal recently claimed she was passed over for a role opposite an older man. The reason was shocking.

“I’m 37 and I was told recently I was too old to play the lover of a man who was 55. It was astonishing to me. It made me feel bad, and then it made me feel angry, and then it made me laugh.”

How does Emma Stone feel about this tendency in Hollywood?

“It’s rampant in Hollywood and it’s definitely been that way for a long time, both culturally and in movies. But in Irrational Man, the film is contingent upon the age difference; the movie is about that disparity. And when I did Magic in the Moonlight Colin Firth and I talked about the gap which was huge, absolutely, because he was born the same year as my dad,” Stone says.

“There’s a lot of conversation about how we want to see people represented on screen and what we need to change as a business to reflect culture in a clearer way and not in an idealized way. There are some flaws in the system,” Stone says.

  • Emma Stone, Ryan Gosling Get Surprise Guest

Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling are getting back together. We knew that much already. The onscreen couple steamed up Crazy, Stupid Love then Gangster Squad. The thought that Emma Stone might have more onscreen steam with Ryan Gosling in a new musical called La La Land has fans all a-twitter.

The musical, directed by Damien Chazelle who did Whiplash, was originally intended for Whiplash star Miles Teller and Harry Potter alum Emma Watson. But Emma Watson has attached to the upcoming Disney live-action version of Beauty and the Beast, so Chazelle went out and snagged Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling.

Now that pair have been joined by another Chazelle favorite, Whiplash star J.K. Simmons.

The Wrap describes La La Land thusly:

La La Land is a two-hander [having two main characters, as opposed to an ensemble cast] that follows a pair of dreamers — aspiring actress Mia (played by Emma Stone), who’s lonely desperate to fit in, and cocky yet charismatic jazz pianist Sebastian (played by Ryan Gosling) — who fall in love in Los Angeles. However, the city that brought them together may tear them apart, as they soon discover that balancing love and art in such a cutthroat climate isn’t easy.”

J.K. Simmons adds the character called The Boss in the mix.

J.K. Simmons brings weight and recent success with Chazzelle to the proceedings. He won a Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for his portrayal of an abusive music teacher in Whiplash.

Emma Stone is currently still basking in the glow of her Woody Allen film Irrational Man. She starred in that with Joaquin Phoenix and Parker Posey.

La La Land is set for a July 2016 release.

  • Emma Stone: Scene In “Irrational Man” Made Her Mother Laugh And It’s Not The One You’d Think

Emma Stone has once again taken up with Woody Allen for his latest film, Irrational Man.

The film follows a philosophy professor, played by Joaquin Phoenix, as he deals with a midlife existential crisis and a relationship with a student, played by Emma Stone.

Emma Stone said that while this is her second film with Woody Allen, her first being Magic in the Moonlight, she would call herself a “muse” or a “student” of his.

Emma Stone also revealed that while her character in the film is pretty good at following her instincts, she is not that great at it.

E!’s Maria Menounos asked during the interview, “Do you listen to your instincts as much as you wish you did?”

Emma Stone aptly replied, “No, never as much as I wish I did. It was better when I was younger, too, when there was less complication in life, it’s easier to just kind of do…it’s like a toddler. ‘That’s mine! I want that!’ But it’s harder to do that as you, you know, have more life to balance…That’s the great thing as an actor: that’s like your entire job, to listen to your instincts—at least when you’re playing a character.”

That bit about having life to balance as you get older…truer words were never spoken.

Emma Stone also revealed that there was a scene in which her mother couldn’t help laughing. And while one might assume it to be an awkward love scene with Joaquin Phoenix, it was not.

Emma Stone said, “I brought my mom to watch the movie and she burst out laughing through the whole scene. She was just hysterically laughing. She was like, ‘You play the piano? Yeah, right! What are you doing? How does anyone believe you?’”

Interesting. Will you be seeing Irrational Man with the interesting combination of Emma Stone and Joaquin Phoenix?

  • Emma Stone To Portray Tennis Star Billie Jean King In “Battle Of The Sexes”

Emma Stone has signed on to play famous feminist tennis player, Billie Jean King, in the upcoming film, Battle of the Sexes.

Steve Carell will play opposite Emma Stone as Bobby Riggs, her opponent.

The true story goes, Bobby Riggs, a chauvinistic braggart and aging tennis champ, challenged Billie Jean King, an outspoken feminist, to the tennis match in 1973 as some sort of battle between the opposing viewpoints.

Of course, Billie Jean King beat Bobby Riggs, 26 years older than King, quite soundly and walked away with the $100,000 prize.

    The match was nationally televised.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8PeU8TFC4LQ

Emma Stone will have some pretty big shoes to fill!

Emma Stone‘s new film will be directed by Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris, the husband-and-wife filmmaking duo behind such Indy hits as Little Miss Sunshine and Ruby Sparks.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6RqGNauy3E8

The screenplay was written by Simon Beaufoy, who is responsible for The Full Monty and Slumdog Millionaire. Speaking of Slumdog Millionaire, Danny Boyle will produce Battle of the Sexes under his Decibel Films company.

The Fox Searchlight project featuring Emma Stone and Steve Carell is only one of three projects going on right now that are based on the story.

There is an HBO version starring Elizabeth Banks as Billie Jean King and Paul Giamatti as Bobby Riggs. There is also a Chernin Entertainment and Gary Sanchez Productions project in the works called Match Maker starring Will Ferrell.

I wonder if Match Maker will be a little more of a light-hearted take on the story?

What do you think? Are you excited to watch Emma Stone as feminist tennis player Billie Jean King? Is this battle story one that you would be interested in knowing more about?

  • Emma Stone To Play Billie Jean King Against Steve Carell’s Bobby Riggs

The legendary tennis match “Battle of the Sexes” was a big victory for female athletes. Now Fox Searchlight will be bringing that epic gender fight to the screen, with Emma Stone playing Billie Jean King and Steve Carell as Bobby Riggs.

In a surprise announcement, Fox Searchlight has scheduled the movie to begin shooting this fall, with husband and wife team Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris set to direct. Simon Beaufoy of Slumdog Millionaire wrote the script and it will be produced by Danny Boyle and Christian Coulson.

The film is expected to have a light, comedic touch reminiscent of Little Miss Sunshine but with gender and political themes that still rings through today, maybe even more so.

The “Battle of the Sexes” was a big moment in both Billie Jean King’s career and the feminist movement. The tennis great and activist initially turned down Rigg’s invitation but changed her mind when the retired tennis player started looking down on female athletes.

It was also one of the greatest tennis matches of all time, and garnered the highest TV ratings since Armstrong landed on the moon. The 29-year-old King’s victory over the much older Riggs was hailed by a New York Times editorial as doing “more for the cause of women than most feminists can achieve in a lifetime.”

But this is not the only retelling of the match that’s in the pipeline, although it’s expected to be the first one to start production.

A still untitled HBO project is also in the works. Elizabeth Banks will be portraying King to Paul Giamatti’s Riggs. Proof’s David Auburn will be writing the script and Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman will be producing it.

There’s also The Match Maker which stars Will Farrell as Bobby Riggs. Based on the ESPN article by Don Van Natta Jr., the film revolves around the premise that Riggs had to lose the match because of his gambling debts.

  • Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling Back Together?

Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling are getting back together.

First was Crazy, Stupid Love. Then came Gangster Squad. If Emma Stone is not going to be with Andrew Garfield, even if just not for now, the next best thing would be Ryan Gosling.

Since Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield are on some sort of hiatus that only they seem to understand, fans are tickled at the idea that Emma Stone might have onscreen steam with Ryan Gosling in a new musical called La La Land.

The musical will be directed by Damien Chazelle, who did Whiplash. It was originally intended for Whiplash star Miles Teller and Harry Potter alum Emma Watson. But Emma Watson has attached to the upcoming Disney live-action version of Beauty and the Beast, so Chazelle went out and snagged Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling.

Well, first he asked Eddie Redmayne, but that guy has his eye on another role elsewhere and wanted to keep his line open.

The Wrap describes La La Land thusly:

La La Land is a two-hander [having two main characters, as opposed to an ensemble cast] that follows a pair of dreamers — aspiring actress Mia, who’s lonely desperate to fit in, and cocky yet charismatic jazz pianist Sebastian — who fall in love in Los Angeles. However, the city that brought them together may tear them apart, as they soon discover that balancing love and art in such a cutthroat climate isn’t easy.”

The film is slated for 2016. Justin Hurwitz is attached as composer. He worked with Chazelle on Whiplash.

Whiplash was well-received. It won J.K. Simmons an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor, and the film cleaned up at Sundance 2014.

If Emma Stone extends her schedule to work on this, she and Andrew Garfield might never get time to fan that flame back up.

  • Emma Stone Getting On With Life After Andrew Garfield Break

Emma Stone is coming out of the shadows and seems ready for life to go on as she takes a “break” from her Amazing Spiderman co-star and adorable boyfriend of three years, Andrew Garfield.

Emma Stone made news on Wednesday just for daring to appear in public, along with a full description of what she was wearing and lots of pictures.

Sometimes it really must be hard to be famous.

Emma Stone and her love were first rumored to be having trouble back during awards season when Andrew Garfield didn’t accompany Emma to any of the events, many of which had nominations for her work.

The distance between Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield was initially blamed on a physical distance.

Andrew Garfield has been shooting Martin Scorsese’s latest, Silence, on location in Taiwan.

Emma Stone has been promoting Aloha, directed by Cameron Crowe and co-starring Bradley Cooper, which is due out in May. Her latest collaboration with Woody Allen, Irrational Man, which is due out in July, has also kept her busy and in the states.

Production of Silence is scheduled to wrap in May, so perhaps they could work things out when he gets back? Here’s hoping!

In the mean time, Emma Stone is in negotiations to star in Damien Chazelle’s musical La La Land.

Emma Stone should be taking over the part, which was abandoned by Emma Watson when she left to play Belle in the upcoming live-action fairytale adaptation of Beauty and the Beast.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Klw8D0YNHE

La La Land follows aspiring actress Mia, who’s “lonely desperate to fit in, and cocky yet charismatic jazz pianist Sebastian, who fall in love in Los Angeles. However, the city that brought them together may tear them apart, as they soon discover that balancing love and art in such a cutthroat climate isn’t easy.”

Emma Stone’s rumored co-star in the musical could possibly be Ryan Gosling.

What do you think about Emma Stone’s efforts to move on after her “break” from Andrew Garfield?

  • Emma Stone, Andrew Garfield Taking A Break?

Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield have quickly become one of Hollywood’s favorite couples since they met while filming The Amazing Spider-Man, and now fans are heartbroken at the rumors that they have decided to take a break from their relationship due to their hectic schedules.

While nothing has been confirmed, the Christian Post reports that the two might be on a break–and have possibly been on one since the beginning of the year–because their respective careers have gotten too busy at the moment. Rumors began to circulate that things were off track between the couple when Garfield failed to show up on the red carpet with Stone, who was nominated for several awards for Birdman. A source says that it doesn’t mean their relationship is done for, but that Garfield has taken his role in an upcoming Scorsese film very seriously.

“He’s thrown himself in the project to the detriment of all else. But it’s too early to say the relationship is over,” the source said.

Stone has been pretty busy as well, starring in a revival of Caberet and possibly a musical by Whiplash director
Damien Chazelle. Stone is rumored to be in talks for the role after Emma Watson dropped out for Beauty And The Beast, and if she takes the part, she may be reunited with Ryan Gosling.

According to The Wrap, La La Land is a “two-hander that follows a pair of dreamers — aspiring actress Mia, who’s lonely and desperate to fit in, and cocky yet charismatic jazz pianist Sebastian — who fall in love in Los Angeles. However, the city that brought them together may tear them apart, as they soon discover that balancing love and art in such a cutthroat climate isn’t easy.”

People Magazine has reported that the duo have been discussing marriage, so it’s anyone’s guess as to what will become of their relationship once their schedules become less hectic.

“It’s one of those situations where only Andrew and Emma quite know if they’ll pick up where they left off or they’ve separated,” a source said.

  • Emma Stone Rumored To Be In Negotiations To Sing In ‘Whiplash’ Director’s New Musical ‘La La Land’

Emma Stone is rumored to be in negotiations to star in Whiplash director, Damien Chazelle’s musical, La La Land, and quite possibly with Ryan Gosling, sources told TheWrap.

When Emma Watson dropped out to star as Belle in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, Emma Stone became the focus of Chazelle and Lionsgate’s search for the perfect actress to play Mia in the musical.

Ryan Gosling is reportedly the latest actor in negotiations for the male role, alongside Emma Stone.

La La Land is a two-hander that follows a pair of dreamers — aspiring actress Mia, who’s lonely desperate to fit in, and cocky yet charismatic jazz pianist Sebastian — who fall in love in Los Angeles,” said The Wrap about the plot. “However, the city that brought them together may tear them apart, as they soon discover that balancing love and art in such a cutthroat climate isn’t easy.”

La La Land is said to be a movie about “big dreams, the big city and the kind of love that makes life feel like a musical.”

TheWrap obtained a document written by Chazelle, called the “lookbook” for La La Land, which is a summation of the story, characters, look and tone of the film.

“At its core, this is a movie about artists in love–and what it means to be an artist in love in arguably the most competitive city on the planet. How do you juggle the need to find success as an artist with the need to share oneself with another human being? And how do you do so in a place where every poster, every street corner and every sign remind you of the glories just beyond reach? L.A. is the “Dream Factory,” and to me there’s something swooningly romantic about that: all those unsung songs and unrealized ideas clouding the air. By casting an affectionate eye on a pair of young hopefuls, while aspiring to the kind of full-fledged romanticism you hardly ever see in today’s movies, I hope to capture the spirit of the city I now call home, and make a movie that feels both classical and urgent–and, yes, intrinsically L.A.,” wrote Chazelle, in part.

Emma Stone has been very busy of late, especially after her Oscar nomination for Birdman. Her next project is Cameron Crowe’s Aloha with Bradley Cooper, followed by Woody Allen’s Irrational Man, with Joaquin Phoenix.

It’s no wonder Emma Stone and her boyfriend of three years, Amazing Spiderman co-star Andrew Garfield are reportedly taking a break. There just no time for romance when you’re portraying romantic leads.

  • Emma Stone and ‘Amazing Spider-Man’ Costar Andrew Garfield Taking Break?

Emma Stone and boyfriend–as well as Amazing Spider-Man costar–are reportedly taking a break from their relationship of three years. Isn’t that typically the way to ease into a full-on break up?

Us Weekly reports the two have been having problems, and haven’t been spotted together in public since some time in January.

“They had been fighting a lot and they hadn’t seen each other. They have both been working but they weren’t getting along,” a source tells the publication.

Andrew Garfield has reportedly been very busy filming Martin Scorsese’s flick Silence in Taiwan. Emma Stone has been wowing fans on the Broadway stage in Cabaret in New York City.

“He’s very in his character,” another source tells Us Weekly of Andrew Garfield.

Garlfield plays a Jesuit priest in Scorsese’s film.

“He’s lost weight, and he’s in a dark place mentally for his performance and he’s not boyfriend material right now,” the source adds.

Such is the life of an actor, however, and many of them manage to maintain their relationships while playing emotional roles.

Rumors of a split starting swirling when Emma Stone, who received numerous awards and nominations for her role in Birdman, attended several awards events solo. Andrew Garfield was nowhere to be seen.

Do you think this is the unofficial beginning of the end for Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield?

  • Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield Reportedly Taking a ‘Break’ From Their Romance

Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield are reportedly taking a break from their three-year romance, and the internet is already mourning — perhaps prematurely — the end of the adorable couple’s relationship.

Sources for People magazine said that Emma Stone, who is set to make her Broadway debut in Cabaret, and her Spiderman honey, Andrew Garfield, needed to take some time apart, reportedly due primarily to their respective busy work schedules.

Garfield is currently filming Silence, in which he plays a dark, Jesuit priest and is said to be “very in his character,” according to Us Weekly.

“Emma understands his work anxieties — it’s why she originally pulled out of ‘Cabaret’ last year and only did it this year — but they’re taking a break from seeing each other,” one source told People. “They’re both a slave to their schedules. This time last year they were privately discussing marriage.”

Other sources believe the former Amazing Spiderman co-stars will get back together once their schedules settle down a bit.

“It’s one of those situations where only Andrew and Emma quite know if they’ll pick up where they left off or they’ve separated,” the source said.

Still, another source told the magazine the break is only temporary.

“They are just separated for work,” the source said. “Andrew is overseas. They are both busy with their careers and have not seen each other.”

Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield were last publicly photographed together in New York’s West Village in January.

  • Emma Stone And Andrew Garfield: Is Their Relationship Really Over?

When Emma Stone flew solo at the Golden Globes and Academy Awards earlier this year, everybody knew that something was up. Recently, several reports claimed that the actress is going through a rough patch with boyfriend Andrew Garfield but their statements are unclear. Some sources assert that the two are simply taking a breather from their three-year relationship while others say that they have already called it quits.

According to People, Stone and Garfield are simply “on a break” due to distance. Garfield is currently in Taiwan for the filming of Martin Scorsese’s Silence while the actress was most recently seen on the other side of the world in Los Angeles. Stone is reportedly spending time with her brother after finishing the production of her new film Aloha.

A source told People that it’s too soon to conclude that the two’s relationship is over. He explained, “Emma understands his (Garfield’s) work anxieties – it’s why she originally pulled out of Cabaret last year and only did it this year – but they’re taking a break from seeing each other. They’re both a slave to their schedules.”

International Business Times also pointed out that Garfield is presently absorbed in his role as a Jesuit priest in Silence. They reported that the actor is in a “dark place mentally” and has lost weight. He has gotten too invested in his role that “he’s not boyfriend material right now.”

Meanwhile, Hollywood Life claims that the two have already split. They wrote that the two were “going on their separate ways” and that they will be happier for their decision.

“They had been fighting a lot and they hadn’t seen each other. They have both been working but they weren’t getting along,” the source revealed.

At this point, no one can exactly tell what Stone and Garfield’s relationship status is except for the two who have remained silent about the issues surrounding them. People’s source agrees with this explaining, “It’s one of those situations where only Andrew and Emma quite know if they’ll pick up where they left off or they’ve separated.”

Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield met on the filming of The Amazing Spider-Man where Garfield played the role of the superhero and Stone took on the part of his love interest. They started dating in the fall of 2011 and were last photographed together in New York around early January.

  • Emma Stone And Andrew Garfield Breaking Up?

Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield are one of the cutest couples in Hollywood, and are especially pleasing to fans of The Amazing Spiderman films.

Emma Stone has been dating Andrew Garfield for over three years, which is a long time in Hollywood standards.

But, could there be trouble for Emma Stone and her “amazing” boyfriend?

Since Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield haven’t been photographed since last January, there might be reason to assume something is going on.

Rumors began to run wild during this awards season when Emma Stone showed up for several ceremonies without her beau.

Emma Stone was having a big season since she was nominated for a Golden Globe, a SAG Award and an Oscar.

One would think Emma Stone would want to have Garfield by her side.

One source close to the situation with Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield confirmed what we all feared, saying, “They had been fighting a lot and they hadn’t seen each other. They have both been working but they weren’t getting along,”

Work could very well be a serious issue with these two. Emma Stone is lighting up Broadway during her stint in Cabaret, and Andrew Garfield is filming Silence with Martin Scorsese in Taiwan.

Andrew Garfield’s role as Father Rodrigues in the film could also have something to do with the relationship distance between him and Emma Stone.

“He’s very in his character,” another insider said of Andrew Garfield.

The source added, “He’s lost weight, and he’s in a dark place mentally for his performance and he’s not boyfriend material right now.”

Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield have made it this long, do you think they can weather the storm?

  • Angelina Jolie Attends Kids Choice Awards With Daughter Zahara and Shiloh

Angelina Jolie made her first post-surgery appearance on Saturday night when she attended the Kids Choice Awards with daughters Shiloh and Zahara.

Jolie had her ovaries and fallopian tubes removed just a short time ago following a cancer scare. It was back in 2013 when the actress had a double mastectomy following genetic testing that showed she was at high risk for developing both breast and ovarian cancer.

On Saturday, however, Angelina Jolie radiated life and confidence alongside two of her daughters. They were especially thrilled when their famous mom won a Kids Choice Award. She won for Best Villain for her role in Maleficent. She was also nominated for Best Actress, but lost out to Emma Stone for her role in The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

Seeing Angelina Jolie with her daughters–Shiloh is eight and Zahara is 10–further prove a statement she made to People magazine prior to tying the knot with Brad Pitt.

“We’ve been through so much,” she said at the time. “We’ve gotten a lot closer, which I think naturally happens with raising a family together. You have history. … You have this person who really knows you, and you know them so well. You’re not lovers or boyfriend and girlfriend as much as you are a family.”

On Saturday, Jolie addressed those at the Kids Choice Awards, as well as viewers at home.

“Thank you so much to all the kids who voted. I want to say that when I was little, like Maleficent, I was told that I was different and I felt out of place and too loud, too full of fire and never good at sitting still, never good at fitting in. And then one day I realized something, something I hope you all realize. Different is good. So, don’t fit in, don’t sit still, don’t ever try to be less than what you are and when someone tells you that you are different, smile and hold your head up high and be proud,” she said. “And, and as your villain, I would also say, cause a little trouble. It’s good for you.”

Angelina Jolie even got through the entire Kids Choice Awards event, and walked away without getting slimed.

Shiloh and Zahara might have enjoyed seeing that happen.
