  • Jamie Lee Curtis Will Reportedly Be A Fighting Badass In “Scream Queens”

Jamie Lee Curtis has a long and varied acting resume, but for many horror fans, she’ll always be Laurie Strode, the doomed but plucky heroine of Halloween. Luckily for them, Ryan Murphy feels the same way, and he’s writing a part for her in the upcoming series Scream Queens that will see her fighting the bad guys rather than running away.

“Yes, if you’re going to hire Jamie Lee Curtis, you want to see her kicking a*s and fighting back and doing all of those things that you loved her doing, so we’re writing a scene right now where she’s fighting three killers. I come at the stuff from a real fanboy place,” Murphy said recently at Comic Con.

The series–which premieres this September–will also star Emma Roberts, who worked with Murphy on American Horror Story, and will feature a large ensemble cast similar to that show. Murphy says it won’t just be straight horror, but rather will mix comedy and “classic horror” elements with a modern twist. The show reportedly opens on a college campus, where a series of murders have the students in fear for their lives.

“This is first off a comedy. A lot of things pretend to be comedies, want to be called a comedy, there are comic situations, but they don’t make you laugh. This makes you laugh from the beginning. And then, it’s really scary. The horror trope is well-served here – the classic use of camera, sound, visuals – to convey real terror. So, there’s a sequence that’s generally scary, but then in the middle of it, there’s something really funny that happens that you laugh at and then it just gets incredibly dark, violent and scary,” Jamie Lee Curtis said.

Scream Queens will premiere on Fox on September 22.

  • Emma Roberts Has Some Fun Comic-Con Girl Time With ‘Scream Queens’ Co-star Lea Michele Post Split

Emma Roberts is doing just fine following her breakup with American Horror Story co-star Evan Peters, thank you very much.

Instead, the niece of Julia Roberts had a ball with Scream Queens co-star Lea Michele at Comic-Con in San Diego.

At a party following the Scream Queens cast panel on Friday, which included Jamie Lee Curtis, the inspiration of the Fox series and the original Halloween franchise scream queen, Emma Roberts hung out with Lea Michele.

“She was in great spirits,” a source told People magazine of the night’s events. “She took pictures with her friends and laughed while chatting and catching up with them.”

Roberts and Peters ended their engagement last month after three years together.

“They grew apart,” a source said. “They both had a lot of growing up to do and it was better that they do it on their own.”

Earlier in the day, Emma Roberts, 24 and Michele, 28, held hands and practiced their screams as the took a turn on the special Scream Queens Mega Drop theme ride.

“Can’t believe we went on this,” Roberts posted on Instagram, along with a photo of the ride and tagging her castmates.

It seems the two are best of friends now. Michele later tweeted a sweet message to Emma Roberts.

“Your Scream Queens! @RobertsEmma I adore you!” Michele Tweeted after the bash.

  • Jamie Lee Curtis: ‘Scream Queens’ Is An Homage to the ‘Halloween’ Actress, Says Creator Ryan Murphy

Jamie Lee Curtis is the reason for the screams coming to Fox this fall.

For the younger generations, Jamie Lee Curtis thrilled a generation battling psycopath Michael Myers in the Halloween movie franchise.

Scream Queens creator Ryan Murphy said during a joint panel for American Horror Story and Scream Queens at Comic-Con on Sunday that the upcoming series starring Emma Roberts, Lea Michele, Skyler Samuels, Keke Palmer, Abigail Breslin and Billie Lourde is a result of his love of Jamie Lee Curtis horror movies.

Curtis joined fellow the panel with Murphy, who said if it wasn’t for Jamie Lee’s agreement to appear in the series, he would have pulled the plug.

“When we were writing the pilot of this, I asked to meet Jamie Lee, who I had loved forever,” Murphy said. When they met he told her, “Look if you don’t do this show we’re not going to do it. And I meant it.” Murphy said, because the series is an homage to her. And considering the title of the series, we believe it.

When asked whether Jamie Lee new Scream Queens character, Dean Cathy Munsch, would be anything like her character in Halloween, Laurie Strode characteristics, Murphy and Curtis replied in the affirmative.

“If you’re going to hire Jamie Lee Curtis, you want to see her kicking ass and fighting back” Murphy said.

Murphy declined to name the killer in the series, something even the cast doesn’t know, but it did hint that the killer appears in the pilot and it’s pretty obvious who the killer is.

I’m going to go out on a limb and guess it’s Lea Michele. Who’s with me?

  • Abigail Breslin Stars Alongside Emma Roberts And Nick Jonas In New Fox Show

Abigail Breslin has apparently taken on quite the new project.

In fact, it’s a big departure from the norm for Abigail Breslin.

Abigail Breslin will be starring in Fox’s new thrill show, Scream Queens.

Scream Queens features Emma Roberts as an undeniably evil sorority leader. Along with her underlings, Abigail Breslin and Billie Lourd, Emma Roberts (aka Chanel Oberlin) takes on the dean of the school, who is played by Jamie Lee Curtis and who ordered Oberlin to admit anyone who is interested in joining the sorority.

The result is a hazing fiasco that ends in what looks like several murders in and around the sorority committed by a psychopath in a devil mask.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-FtenR69qmk

On the Fox website, the show is described in colorful detail. It says, “The girls of Kappa House are dying for new pledges.
Wallace University is rocked by a string of murders. Kappa House, the most sought-after sorority for pledges, is ruled with an iron fist (in a pink glove) by its Queen Bitch, Chanel Oberlin (Emma Roberts).”

It continues, “But when anti-Kappa Dean Munsch (Jamie Lee Curtis) decrees that sorority pledging must be open to all students, and not just the school’s silver-spooned elite, all hell is about to break loose, as a devil-clad killer begins wreaking havoc, claiming one victim, one episode at a time. Part black comedy, part slasher flick, Scream Queens is a modern take on the classic whodunit, in which every character has a motive for murder
or could easily be the next blood-soaked casualty.”

    It looks really, really great.

  • Betty Lou Bredemus, Mother Of Julia Roberts, Dead At 80

Betty Lou Bredemus, Julia Roberts’ beloved mother died early Thursday morning after a long battle with lung cancer.

    She was 80 years old.

Betty Lou Bredemus is survived by her children, Eric Roberts, 58, Julia, 47, and Lisa Gillan, 49. Her other daughter, Nancy Motes, committed suicide last year at the age of 37.

Betty Lou Bredemus also leaves behind four grandchildren, actress Emma Roberts, who is Eric Roberts’ daughter, and Julia Roberts’ children, Phinnaeus and Hazel, both 10, and Henry, 7.

Julia Roberts was very close with her mother. Her and Betty Lou Bredemus leaned on each other after Nancy Motes died of an overdose last year, and Bredemus helped pull their family together.

After Motes’ death, Julia Roberts said, “It’s hour by hour some days, but you just keep looking ahead. But [as with] any situation of challenge and despair, we must find a way, as a family.”

That’s not the only time that Betty Lou Bredemus was instrumental in uniting the family after a tragedy.

Betty Lou Bredemus, who once ran an acting school in Smyrna, Georgia, lost her first husband and Julia’s father, Walter Grady Roberts, when Julia was just 10 to throat cancer.

Betty Lou Bredemus was with Julia Roberts when Julia first realized that she had become famous back in the late 1980’s.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cMIkXukr_Sg

It was shortly after she starred in the 1988 film, Mystic Pizza, that Roberts was first approached by a fan when she went to the movies with her mother, Betty Lou Bredemus.

Julia Roberts is in the midst of filming her latest movie, The Secret In Their Eyes.

Hopefully, the family of Betty Lou Bredemus can come together once again to comfort each other over the loss of their mother and grandmother.

  • Jamie Lee Curtis and Emma Roberts To Star In “Scream Queens”

Ryan Murphy, the man behind hit shows Glee and American Horror Story, will be producing another show for Fox called Scream Queens. It was announced back in October that the show was picked up straight-to-series by Fox, based solely on Murphy’s track record. When the announcement was made, they hadn’t even settled on who the stars in the show would be. But now, the search for Murphy’s “scream queens” is over. It’s been reported that Jamie Lee Curtis and Emma Roberts have been cast in the ensemble comedy-horror anthology. However, details about their roles on the show are still uncertain.

Roberts and Curtis have proven that they have the acting chops to do both horror and comedy. Roberts, who was recently seen in the third and fourth seasons of American Horror Story, showed she could do comedy in films like We’re The Millers. Curtis, who’s known for comedy films like Freaky Friday, started out her career doing horror films including Halloween, The Fog, Terror Train, and Prom Night.

Murphy is known for giving older actresses great roles in his shows. Jessica Lange, Kathy Bates, and Angela Bassett have been given high-quality material in American Horror Story. The casting of Curtis proves that he sets out to do for the actress what he has done for Lange in American Horror Story. It is also worth noting that Curtis hasn’t appeared in any movies in a while, especially nothing remotely related to the horror genre.

Roberts’ partnership with Curtis also proved to be a fruitful one, with the third and fourth seasons of American Horror Story getting high ratings and rave reviews from critics.

The format for Scream Queens will follow that of American Horror Story, with each season having an entirely new plot and cast of characters. Plot details are scarce, but reports claim that the first season of Scream Queens will take place in a college campus where countless of murders take place.

  • Jamie Lee Curtis Cast in ‘Scream Queens’

Jamie Lee Curtis Cast in ‘Scream Queens’

Jamie Lee Curtis, the original “scream queen,” has been cast in a new FOX horror/comedy series called Scream Queens.

The show, produced by Ryan Murphy, will also star Emma Roberts, who has already appeared in the Coven and Freak Show seasons of Murphy’s popular American Horror Story franchise.

Murphy, known for creating or co-creating various successful television series including Popular, Nip/Tuck, Glee, American Horror Story and The New Normal, will commence production of 15 episodes ordered by FOX, and the series will debut next fall.

Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan co-created the new show, and Murphy, Falchuk, Brennan, and Dante Di Loreto will serve as executive producers.

Commenting on Scream Queens, Murphy said in a statement, “We hope to create a whole new genre – comedy-horror – and the idea is for every season to revolve around two female leads. We’ve already begun a nationwide search for those women, as well as 10 other supporting roles.”

The first season of the new anthology is centered around a series of murders committed on a college campus.

Curtis, 56, got her start in John Carpenter’s 1978 classic Halloween. The Golden Globe-winning actress went on to appear in four Halloween sequels, and starred in The Fog, Prom Night, Terror Train and Roadgames, solidifying her “scream queen” status.

Curtis as Laurie Strode in Halloween:

Curtis, a New York Times bestselling author, is married to director Christopher Guest, and occasionally blogs for The Huffington Post.

In related news, Murphy has been reportedly developing a new anthology series called American Crime Story. The first season is said to be centered around the O.J. Simpson murder trial.

  • Jyoti Amge, the World’s Smallest Woman, Joins Cast of ‘American Horror Story’

Jyoti Amge, the world’s smallest woman, has signed on to star in the upcoming season of American Horror Story: Freak Show.

The 2′ 0.6″ tall native of Nagpur, India has been acknowledged as the world’s smallest living woman in both the Guinness Book of Records and the Limca Book of Records. Series creator Ryan Murphy announced the news Wednesday on Twitter, alongside a photo of series’ star Jessica Lange.

Amge, 20, has a genetic disorder called achondroplasia, a form of short-limbed dwarfism. The word achondroplasia literally means “without cartilage formation,” according to the Genetics Home Reference website.

After Amge was named the world’s smallest woman, she stated that she would like to become an actor. Looks like her wish came true in a big way.

The new season is set in 1950’s Florida and stars Lange as freak show manager Elsa Mars. Joining Lange is Sarah Paulson as conjoined twins Bette and Dot Tattler. Michael Chiklis will play strongman performer Wendell del Toredo and Angela Bassett stars as Wendell’s wife Desiree Dupree.

Things will likely get interesting with Kathy Bates playing Wendell’s ex-wife Ethel Darling. Rounding out the cast are Evan Peters as their son Jimmy Darling, Emma Roberts as Maggie and John Carroll Lynch as a villain.

American Horror Story: Freak Show will premiere on FX in October. Murphy has said it has “a little more humor and a little bit more camp” than Asylum, but a darker tone than Coven.

  • Emma Roberts: Kissing James Franco ‘So Not Romantic’

Emma Roberts, 23, recently spilled about her bedroom scenes with costar James Franco in their new movie, Palo Alto, and it looks like kissing the 127 Hours star wasn’t a dream come true as many Franco fans might imagine.

“It wasn’t [awkward], because James is so lovely and he didn’t make it weird,” Roberts told E! Online at the Hollywood premiere of the film this week. “It wasn’t weird, but there was definitely a point where you’re like, ‘How much longer until you say cut?’

“What people don’t realize is people are always like, ‘Oh, you got to make out with James Franco!’ I’m like, ‘Yeah, and 30 people stood there and watched!’ It’s so not romantic at all.”

Julia Roberts’ niece said that while the kissing may not have been all that great, everyone around her was jealous of her lip-locking scenes with the actor.

“Everyone [was]!” she laughed. “Guys, girls, everybody. My mom was asking about it. I’ve never had so many people ask me about a kiss that wasn’t even real in my whole life ever.”

Roberts said she has dreamed about being a part of a movie version of Franco‘s Palo Alto short stories ever since she read the book.

“I read James Franco‘s book literally the day it came out,” said the American Horror Story actress. “I got it at Book Soup in L.A. when they were putting it on the table. I read it in three days and I remember calling my manager and being like, ‘If this gets made into a movie I have to be in it.’”

  • Dianna Agron Kisses Thomas Cocquerel at Coachella 2014

Glee star Dianna Agron was spotted kissing Australian actor Thomas Cocquerel at the annual Coachella festival on Saturday.

E! News confirmed the two are dating.

Agron posted several photos from the festival, which kicked off over the weekend in Indio, California, on Twitter but none included Cocquerel or made mention of him.

Like Cocquerel, Agron’s previous beau Nick Mathers hailed from Down Under. In August 2013 Agron was reported to be dating the Australian restaurateur but the relationship proved short-lived: news broke earlier this year that they had broken up.

As recently as February, Cocquerel was thought to be dating actress Lily Collins after they were spotted having dinner at a swanky Los Angeles restaurant and taking in a Lakers game at the Staples Center.

Agron is best known for her role as Quinn Fabray on Fox’s popular musical comedy-drama Glee but she’s been busy beefing up her resume with movie roles lately. She’s currently filming Tumbledown, a romantic comedy in which she stars alongside Blythe Danner, Rebecca Hall, and Jason Sudeikis.

She’ll also star in the thriller A Conspiracy on Jekyll Island with Minnie Driver, Maggie Q, and AnnaSophia Robb and the independent film Zipper with Richard Dreyfuss and Lena Headey, both set to release in 2014.

To top it off, Agron is rumored to be starring with Rosario Dawson in Famous, a drama about a Manhattan escort service.

Agron and Cocquerel weren’t the only celebrity couple spotted at Coachella over the weekend.

Emma Roberts was there with fiancé Evan Peters.

Sarah Hyland and boyfriend Matt Prokop and Joe Jonas and girlfriend Blanda Eggenschwiler also attended the festival.

  • Jennifer Aniston Shares MTV Award for Best Kiss

Jennifer Aniston won Best Kiss at the MTV Movie Awards on Sunday night for taking part in a kissing scene with Emma Roberts and Will Poulter in We’re the Millers. The two ladies, however, were noticeably absent so Poulter, who also won for Best Breakthrough Performance earlier in the evening, accepted the award on behalf of all three of them.

It seems Aniston was busy filming her upcoming movie Cake. On set about an hour outside of L.A., she spends lots of time there–most especially this weekend, when she was there almost around the clock. Sources say she was spotted during filming wearing much darker hair fashioned into a bob, and she sported a large scar across her face. She is playing the role of a grieving mother who suffers from horrific pain following a devastating car accident that forever changed her life.

Jennifer Aniston’s fiance Justin Theroux visits her on set frequently. He showed up a few days ago on his motorcycle and spent some time with her between shots.

Emma Roberts’s only excuse for not being at the MTV Movie Awards and accepting her share of the Best Kiss award was that she was at the Coachella Music Festival a few hours away from L.A. She did manage to check in and tweet about how excited she was to have won the Best Kiss award, along with Jennifer Aniston and Will Poulter.

The MTV Movie Awards are nothing compared to award shows like The Oscars or The Grammy Awards. They serve mostly as a way for producers and actors to tout the merits of their upcoming summer films.

Did you check out the MTV Movie Awards on Sunday? Can you blame Jennifer Aniston and Emma Roberts for their busyness elsewhere or should they have tried harder to be present when given the Best Kiss award?

  • Jennifer Aniston, Emma Roberts, & Will Poulter Win MTV Best Kiss

Jennifer Aniston, Emma Roberts, and Will Poulter won Best Kiss at the MTV Movie Awards on Sunday night.

Other nominees for the award included Amy Adams and Jennifer Lawrence for American Hustle, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Scarlett Johansson for Don Jon, James Franco, Ashley Benson, and Vanessa Hudgens for Spring Breakers, and Shailene Woodley and Miles Teller for The Spectacular Now.

Aniston and Roberts didn’t attend the ceremony, which was broadcast live from the Nokia Theatre in downtown Los Angeles. Poulter took the stage to accept the award for the trio’s kiss in We’re the Millers.

Poulter interrupted his acceptance speech to read a text message from Aniston. The message allegedly chastised him for making it sound like the two had something going offscreen:

“Hey Doucher, I’m watching this on TV. Stop telling people we’re a real thing. I was forced to kiss you. I didn’t come tonight because I thought I might have to come near you again. It’s probably best you stay in England. P.S. You look like a dorky Tintin.”

The Tintin comment probably referred to the French comic book hero who sports a full face and close cropped hair with a pompadour.

Poulter also won the Breakthrough Performance Award for his work in We’re the Millers.

Poulter has been busy since We’re the Millers, with starring roles in Glassland, Kids in Love, The Maze Runner, and Plastic. He’s also rumored to be starring in iBoy and Shoplifters of the World.

While it’s not clear why Aniston and Roberts weren’t present at the awards ceremony Sunday night, we do know that Roberts hit up Coachella this weekend with finacĂ© Evan Peters.

Aniston is currently filming her latest project, Cake, in Los Angeles. Felicity Huffman, Anna Kendrick, William H. Macy, Chris Messina, and Sam Worthington are also slated to appear in the movie, which is set to release in 2015.

  • James Franco Apologizes for Scamming on Teen

During a guest appearance Friday on Live With Kelly & Michael, actor James Franco addressed the controversy surrounding his attempt at a digital dalliance via Instagram with a 17-year-old female.

The incident occurred after Scottish tourist Lucy Cloude was standing outside of the Longacre Theatre in midtown Manhattan where Franco is performing Of Mice and Men. Cloude encountered Franco, 35, snapped a selfie of herself and the actor, tagging on Instagram was initiated, which lead to some online flirting between the two. The exchange quickly went public, and Franco was summarily criticized as being a hapless knave for his perceived seedy behavior.

Franco’s first attempt at damage control was to take to Twitter to warn people to hide their teens:

Seemingly dissatisfied with his initial attempt at atonement, Franco explained on Live With Kelly & Michael,

“I guess, you know, I’m embarrassed. I guess I’m just a model of how social media is tricky. It’s a way people meet each other today, but what I’ve learned, I guess just because I’m new to it, is you don’t know who’s on the other end. You meet somebody in person you get a feel for them, but online you don’t know who you’re talking to. I learned my lesson. Unfortunately, in my position… I have a very good life, but not only do I have to go through the embarrassing rituals of meeting someone… sometimes if I do that then it gets published for the world. So it’s doubly embarrassing.”

Kelly Ripa commented that “It happens to everybody,” and commended Franco for directly addressing the situation.

    Here is the clip:

Since the legal age of consent in New York is 17, and Cloude is a few weeks shy of her 18th birthday, Franco committed no actual crime, but did scandalize himself, and has been seeing quite a bit of backlash.

Interestingly, there’s been talk that the entire incident might plainly be a poorly executed publicity stunt Franco put together to promote his new movie Palo Alto. In the film Franco plays a soccer coach who seduces his 14-year old babysitter played by Emma Roberts, who is actually 23.

Here is the trailer for Palo Alto:

  • Emma Roberts Reveals Her Worst Fears

Emma Roberts joined the cast of American Horror Story during season three as the witch Madison Montgomery.

During a recent interview at Paleyfest, The Family star revealed how frightening it was to film some of the scarier scenes, especially the ones filmed at night.

“We do a lot of night shoots so will be working until 4am in these old buildings in New Orleans and you are looking over your shoulder down the hallway sometimes,” Roberts explained.

“I am so terrified at the thought of ghosts and movies like The Shining scare me so much and so I am the person that is saying it’s haunted and everyone is telling me to relax. I am the person checking under the bed and behind the shower curtain and there is nothing there but I’m terrified,” she continued.

Roberts said that when she was approached about the part she was very nervous but knew the experience would be something new and exciting that her fans would have never expected from her. She decided to embrace her role and give it her all.

“I jumped into American Horror Story thinking I would have to do stuff out of my comfort zone but I would just have to do it. I loved the character and the show so much it just made it fun and challenging that as an actress I got to do stuff people would never expect of me.”

  • Emma Roberts: Which “Friend” Is She Working With?

Emma Roberts, who made her mark in the acting world with the Nickelodeon show “Unfabulous” as well as several tween movies, is moving on up in Hollywood to work with some of her idols. The newest one? A very famous cast member from “Friends”.

The project is a comedy called “We’re The Millers”, which stars Jennifer Anniston and Jason Sudeikis as a prostitute and a pot dealer on the run. They tap Roberts to pretend to be their daughter while they drive cross-country, presumably on the lam. Roberts gushed about working with the stars on Twitter recently, calling it a “dream come true”.

Of course, Roberts is descended from Hollywood royalty; Julia Roberts is her aunt, and Eric Roberts is her father. Looks like no one is immune from being starstruck when they get to hang out with someone they admire.

Roberts’ latest film is due out this year; “Adult World” stars Cloris Leachman and John Cusack, and is where she met her boyfriend, “American Horror Story” star Evan Peters.
