  • Emily Ratajkowski Says “Blurred Lines” Wasn’t “Overly Sexualized”

Emily Ratajkowski made her onscreen debut in a racy music video–she appeared, in fact, topless throughout–but she says she doesn’t think the video was all that sexual.

Ratajkowski became a near-overnight success after Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines” hit the airwaves and quickly went viral, due in part to the many beautiful young women who were dancing nude or nearly nude around the singer. She later went on to land a role in Ben Affleck’s hit Gone Girl, and in a recent interview she explained why she doesn’t think the video that led to her success is such a big deal.

“We took something that on paper sounded really sexist and misogynistic and made it more interesting, which is why women love that video and why it became a viral success. There’s an attitude and energy there that goes beyond girls shaking their ass around suited men — a confidence that I think is refreshing. We don’t have any images of nude women other than in really beautiful magazines shot by great photographers that aren’t overly sexualized. And I think that “Blurred Lines” wasn’t overly sexualized, and that’s what made it interesting,” Emily said.

Ratajkowski has since moved on, landing a role in We Are Your Friends with Zac Efron and a gig writing for Lena Dunham’s upcoming newsletter for young women.

“It’s a little overwhelming, especially because it hasn’t been launched yet, so I don’t have any examples. It’s an amazing platform and I want to take it seriously and whatever I write to be fun and interesting but also really cover a lot,” Emily said.

Emily Ratajkowski told the L.A. Times that because she now has so many followers on social media, she’s very conscious of the things she posts.

“You get people who are like, “If you want to be taken seriously as an actress, don’t post any sexy photos.” And that’s…. You can do whatever you want — that’s what being a woman is. That being said, I definitely think there’s a performance side of it. It’s not me. I’m not posting my meal when I think it’s a great, delicious meal. I do factor in the audience and cater to them,” Emily said.

  • Emily Ratajkowski of ‘Gone Girl’ Dishes On Beauty and Workout (or Lack Thereof) Routine

Emily Ratajkowski has been a hot ticket of late as she promotes her new film with Zac Efron, We Are Your Friends.

So how does Gone Girl star get red carpet ready?

    Apparently, effortlessly.

In an interview with The New York Times, Ratajkowski shared her frank opinions on beauty and fitness.

“I don’t have a trainer, and I don’t really go to the gym. I go on long walks and hikes with my girlfriends,” Emily freely admitted. “That’s about it. I’m just not a crazy fitness person. I’m definitely an outlier in the industry.”

The 24-year-old beauty rides the L.A. health craze when it comes to her diet, although she doesn’t seem to be a stickler about what goes into her slim figure.

“For me, it’s about feeling good about what you eat. I do love turmeric and beet juices. It’s so L.A., you can’t avoid it.”

When it comes to makeup, the actress said her regime is minimal.

“I have really big features, so a little makeup goes a long way. I would hate to look like a clown. During the day, I use Glossier Perfecting Skin Tint. I’m using the dark color because I have a bit of a tan. I’m not sure it really covers much, but it evens me out.”

Emily also says she is not really big on perfume.

“I actually don’t wear fragrance,” said Ratajkowski. “I always feel like I smell cheap. I guess I just haven’t found one that’s not overpowering or too sweet. Even when I try one of the super masculine scents, I just think, ‘I don’t want to smell like a man.’ Besides, I like my own scent.”

Despite her minimal beauty and fitness routine, there is one indulgence that Emily swears by — Korean Spas.

“My big treat is that once a month I go to a Korean spa. The one I go to, called Natura, is not as popular as the ones most of Hollywood goes to. I usually go about 40 minutes before my appointment, and you can get into all these different pools. Then you get a body scrub, and you’re lying there naked with 20 other women. They just treat you like a piece of meat, but it’s worth it. Then you shower, and I like the acupressure massage. Those ladies are strong! They even put grated cucumber on your face.”

Keeping it simple seems to work for the beautiful Emily Ratajkowski.

  • Zac Efron, Michelle Rodriguez: What Happened?

Zac Efron and Michelle Rodriguez certainly appeared happy while vacationing in Ibiza, so what happened when the two came back home? Sources say the two had a fight while still in Italy, and that as a result of it have called it quits.

“Michelle is going to do her own thing. Zac knew this about her when he got with her,” a source explains. “He’s very into her though, and perhaps more than she’s into him.”

Zac Efron and Michelle Rodriguez were only a couple for about two months, yet in that time they seemed to cover a lot of ground with one another. The two were spotted on a yacht, in quaint Italian towns, and even horseback riding together in Sardinia.

The last time the two were spotted together was back on August 2nd–and that was while they were still in Ibizia. It seems there haven’t been any sightings of the pair since they returned to L.A.

Zac Efron was seen this past week, however, on the set of his new film, We Are Your Friends. The film is the story about a troubled DJ who finds his true calling in the world of electronic music. Wes Bentley and Emily Ratajkowski (from Robin Thicke’s ‘Blurred Lines’ music video) will star alongside Efron in the film.

Fortunately Zac Efron has his work to fall back on because it certainly appears as though he may have failed when it came to romance. Or do you suppose–as some believe–that Michelle Rodriguez was just way too much for Zac to handle because of her penchant for doing things her own way?

  • Jennifer Lawrence Named ‘Sexiest Woman in the World’

Jennifer Lawrence has inherited the crown of the “Sexiest Women in the World” from Mila Kunis this year.

The men’s magazine FHM released their annual list, and the Oscar-winner has won the title because, according to the magazine, she is “so freaking cool”.

In addition to her obvious talent and natural beauty, FHM notes the Hunger Games actress’s new short do – which is being copied by sweet young things world-wide – and her photo-bomb during Taylor Swift’s interview with Ryan Seacrest at the Golden Globes.

“The past 12 months have seen Jennifer’s career rocket off into the stratosphere,” the magazine wrote about the American Hustle actress.

British actress Michelle Keegan – who stars in Coronation Street – came in second, although she was named “sexiest woman in the UK” by the magazine.

“I’m totally taken back by this, it really does mean a lot,” said Keegan in a statement. “Thank you so much to the readers of FHM and everyone who took the time and voted for me, I’m so flattered. I believe that being ‘sexy’ isn’t wearing lots of heavy make-up or having the perfect hair or figure, it’s about self confidence, being comfortable with yourself, smiling and being happy!”

Rihanna finished third and model Emily Ratajkowski and Kaley Cuoco rounded out the top five spots.

Last year’s winner – and mom-to-beMila Kunis finished sixth this year.

Other names on the list include Beyonce (7), Scarlett Johansson (10), Emilia Clarke (11; she was recently dubbed ‘Most Desirable’ by AskMen, ironically knocking off Jennifer Lawrence), Katy Perry (12), Emma Stone (20), Taylor Swift (27), Zooey Deschanel (34), Jennifer Aniston (36), Kim Kardashian (38), Selena Gomez (56), Miley Cyrus (79) and Shakira (87).

Past queens of the “Sexiest Women in the World” list include Megan Fox (2008), Jessica Alba (2007), Keira Knightley (2006), Britney Spears (2004), Halle Berry (2003) and Jennifer Lopez (2001 and 2000).

  • Emily Ratajkowski Owes Big Break To Robin Thicke

Emily Ratajkowski may not be a household name yet, but with the help of Robin Thicke, she’s getting there.

The 21-year old model–who appears in various states of undress in Thicke’s controversial video “Blurred Lines”–has just been cast in the Ben Affleck film “Gone Girl”. The movie will be directed by David Fincher and is produced by Reese Witherspoon, and is based on the best-selling novel by Gillian Flynn. Ratajkowski took to Instagram to announce the new role, saying, “So happy to announce my casting in David Fincher’s ‘Gone Girl’ opposite Ben Affleck!!!”

The young model has been building up her resume with appearances on “iCarly” and “New Girl”, but a role in a Fincher film could do wonders for a burgeoning career. Ratajkowski will play Andie, a beautiful college student who has an affair with Ben Affleck’s character; when police look to him as a suspect in his wife’s disappearance, the affair is revealed, and all credibility is lost.

The film will also star Rosamund Pike, Carrie Coon, Tyler Perry, Kim Dickens, Patrick Fugit and Neil Patrick Harris. Shooting is slated to begin this fall.
