Barrett Baber Finishes Third on “The Voice”

Barrett Baber didn’t win season nine of The Voice on Tuesday–as many anticipated–but he’s certainly no loser. One of two contestants from Blake Shelton’s team, he and Emily Ann Roberts were thrilled to make the finals.

The Arkansas high school teacher won hearts early on with his down-home country rocker style and sweet demeanor. A family man, Barrett Baber constantly spoke of his wife and children throughout the competition.

The competition among the four Voice finalists was fierce. Any one of the four deserved a win, but it was Kentucky college student Jordan Smith who took the crown. Gwen Stefani’s remaining contestant Jeffery Austin came in fourth place. Barrett Baber took the third place spot. Blake Shelton’s second finalist Emily Ann Roberts came in second place.

Fans will be shocked if Barrett Baber doesn’t land a recording contract based on his time on The Voice and the contacts made throughout the whole experience.

Arkansas Matters reports that the first thing Barrett Baber wants to do is spend some much-needed time with his family. After that he will likely get back to making music–and teaching high school students.

Were you among those convinced that Barrett Baber was going to emerge victorious from The Voice on Tuesday night?

  • Adam Levine Over the Moon With “Voice” Jordan Smith Win, Mercilessly Teases Blake Shelton

Adam Levine is over the moon as the coach whose contestant won The Voice on Tuesday night. Jordan Smith took the season nine title, meaning Adam will tease Blake Shelton mercilessly in the coming months.

Blake Shelton and Adam Levine have long engaged in a bromance that delights viewers of The Voice. Adam’s win has provided him enough fodder to drive the country singer crazy.

Blake had two contestants in Tuesday night’s finale. Emily Ann Roberts, just 17, was the runner up to Jordan Smith. Barrett Baber came in third place.

Gwen Stefani–who is dating Blake Shelton since her split from hubby Gavin Rossdale and his from Miranda Lambert–had one contestant in the finals. Jeffery Austin came in fourth place.

“It’s really quite beautiful because Jordan gets to win The Voice and I get to tear Blake apart for the next six months,” Adam Levine said following his win on Tuesday. “[I’ll be] bragging about my win and his drought of victory. It’s gonna be great.”

Adam and Blake are the only two original coaches remaining on The Voice to have appeared every season since the show began in 2011. Adam won the first season, with Blake Shelton winning the next three consecutive seasons.

Of course Jordan Smith was Tuesday night’s real winner. The 22-year-old Kentucky college student blew both coaches and fans away from the moment he stepped on stage for the blind auditions.

“Honestly there were so many times when I didn’t think I would be in this position and I’m still blown away,” he said following his big win. “I never expected to [get] this far but I’m so honored to be and so proud to be sitting here out of all these people. This is one of the craziest moments that I’ve experienced.”

Blake Shelton better prepare himself. He is in for merciless ribbing from Adam Levine–starting now and probably not ending until Blake lands another Voice win.

  • Gwen Stefani: Blake Shelton Wants Her Back for Season 11 of “The Voice”

Gwen Stefani is hoping against hope that her one remaining contestant, Jeffery Austin, is crowned Tuesday night’s season 11 winner of The Voice. Blake Shelton has two contestants–Barrett Baber and Emily Ann Roberts–vying for the title. Even though this season hasn’t yet officially ended, Blake is already working to bring Gwen Stefani back as a coach for season 11.

Christina Aguilera is set to return to The Voice for season 11, but Blake Shelton is putting pressure on host and executive producer Carson Daly to add a fifth chair to The Voice lineup, so Gwen Stefani can return.

As most everyone knows, Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani began dating some time this summer. Blake announced his divorce from Miranda Lambert in July, and in August Gwen, too, announced the end of her marriage to Gavin Rossdale.

“We’ll just address that we love Gwen, we love our coaches,” Carson Daly told reporters ahead of the live show on Monday, evading the question as best he could. “We’re like Iron Chef around here. Once you’ve been in the kitchen, you’re always welcome back in the kitchen.”

“Anytime you want?” Blake Shelton asked pointedly.

“Absolutely,” Daly replied, giving Blake the answer he wanted

“I’ll see you next season, Gwen,” he said with a laugh, ignoring Adam Levine’s “whoop.”

Blake Shelton is clearly head-over-heels crazy about Gwen Stefani. He even predicted her contestant will win this season of The Voice–over his own two contestants.

“You’ve left me no choice here but to say Gwen, because it’s my goal in life to beat Adam or to see somebody beat him,” he joked. “So I’m going to pick Jeffrey. That’s who I would pick to win.”

“I also would have to say Jeffrey,” Levine added in a rare moment of agreement between the two. “He’s a great singer, [and] he’s not on Blake’s team.”

Fans are no doubt (get it…”No Doubt?”) dying to know how Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton’s relationship endures once this season of The Voice is over.

Will you be tuning in tonight to see if Blake Shelton’s contestants (Emily Ann Roberts and Barrett Baber), Gwen Stefani’s contestant (Jeffery Austin, or Adam Levine’s contestant (Jordan Smith) wins this season of The Voice? Poor Pharrell Williams was knocked out of the competition last week, but still lends plenty of support to the finalists.

  • Emily Ann Roberts Advances On The Voice

Emily Ann Roberts from Karns, Tennessee beat Morgan Frazier from Nashville on Tuesday’s episode of The Voice, singing “I’m That Kind of Girl”.

Roberts advanced to the next round as a result. She’ll appear in the “knockout” rounds next week.

    NBC affiliate WBIR reports:

Team coach Blake Shelton said he was “heartbroken” to have to make a choice against the two singers. But he picked Roberts because he said he thought he could do the most for her.

Fellow coach Pharrell Williams quickly claimed Frazier.

Roberts said on Facebook Tuesday night:

WOW I’m so humbled right now that Blake Shelton would keep me on his team!! God is so good and I’m so thankful!! It was an absolute honor to be able to sing with Morgan and I’m so glad that she gets to stay on the show! I know she will do amazing things on Team Pharrell!
