  • Kristen Bell to Reprise Role of Anna in ‘Frozen’ Sequel

Kristen Bell plays the role of Anna in Disney’s animated film Frozen. On Thursday she realized a dream come true. Disney announced there will be a sequel to the smash hit, meaning Bell will play Anna again.

“I would play Anna forever if they would let me,” Kristen Bell said during an interview with CBS News. “Not only do I enjoy the character and how much people love her, but I enjoy the team–the physical production team that I get to work with. They are all wonderful people…They’re super talented and super kind.”

Kristen Bell will also star as Anna in a new Disney short film called Frozen Fever. In the short film, Elsa (played by Idina Menzel) plans a birthday party for her sister, Anna. Frozen Fever will also feature a new song written by Robert Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez. They’re the duo who won an Oscar for the hit song “Let It Go.”

“They wrote music and we got to learn a new song. I have nothing even neutral to say about it. It was all wonderful,” Kristen Bell said.

“Disney’s never made a sequel. That’ the truth. Disney Pixar–that entity–has made a sequel. But Disney–Disney has never made a sequel. They wouldn’t just make it haphazardly. They would wait until the right plot line showed itself,” she added.

Kristen Bell explained some of what Disney went through during the creation of Frozen before it appeared on the big screen.

“In truth, it had a lot of different incarnations during the production process…Anna was a completely different person,” she said. “She wasn’t nearly as awkward or goofy. And then we did a massive re-write. I mean then we did pretty much a page one rewrite. And Jen Lee came on and between her and Chris Buck’s co-directing they just found a little bit of magic. The original Hans Christian Andersen story that it’s based on was very different. Elsa was more of a villain and at one point it was ‘Will Elsa and Anna to be mother and daughter? Should they be sisters? Should they be enemies? How do we play it?’ And the story just began to reveal itself–what it wanted to be throughout the last couple of months.”

Do you know any little girls who don’t love Anna and Elsa from Frozen? Be sure to let them know that they’ll be back before too long in the Frozen sequel.

And if Kristen Bell gets her way, there will be a Frozen 3 as well.

  • Idina Menzel, John Legend: Super Bowl’s Patriotic Voices

Idina Menzel and John Legend will serve as the patriotic singing voices of Super Bowl XLIX at Phoenix Stadium on February 1st. Menzel, best known for her vocals behind ‘Let It Go,’ from Disney’s Frozen, will belt out the National Anthem. John Legend will rouse patriotism with his rendition of ‘America the Beautiful.’

Legend follows in the footsteps of some strong voices with his performance. ‘America the Beautiful’ has been performed at past Super Bowls by the likes of Ray Charles, Alicia Keys, and Jennifer Hudson. While those are big shoes to fill, there’s no doubt that John Legend has what it takes. Anyone who has heard his recent performance of ‘Glory,’ from the Academy Award-nominated film Selma, knows they’re in for a treat when he sings.

Idina Menzel follows in some pretty amazing footsteps as well, although her spot has occasionally served as an embarrassment for both the singer and everyone at the Super Bowl. Christina Aguilera, for example, blew it big time back in 2011, when she flubbed a few lines of the song most have been singing since childhood.

In addition to Christina, Idina Menzel succeeds a throng of music greats including Garth Brooks, Diana Ross, and Beyonce in singing ‘The Star Spangled Banner.’ Hopefully, when she is announced, the commentator doesn’t do a ‘John Travola‘ and completely slaughter her name.

While Katy Perry is the headlining half time act at the Super Bowl, she might not hold a candle to the voices of Idina Menzel and John Legend. Frozen fans–even those who aren’t football fans–will likely tune in to Super Bowl XLIX–simply to hear the voice of their beloved Elsa. Hopefully if Chrissy Teigen (John Legend’s wife) is in the stands, she’ll leave her ‘cry face‘ at home.

Fans can hear both Idina Menzel and John Legend raise their patriotic voices on Sunday, February 1st on NBC.

  • Elizabeth Lail Cast as Anna in ‘Once Upon a Time’

Elizabeth Lail Cast as Anna in ‘Once Upon a Time’

Even though almost every single scientist and liberal on the planet continually warn of the dangers of global warming, the pudding shows that the world has been #Frozen over since November 27, 2013 with Disney’s release of Frozen, the story of a princess with magical ice powers who needs help from her sister, a bumpkin named Kristoff, a reindeer, and a talking snowman to stop the entire kingdom from being frozen over.

Since its release, Frozen has infiltrated every aspect of pop culture, with its soundtrack reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Top 100 and going platinum and merchandizing galore. Now, Frozen has even infiltrated the TV, becoming part of the Once Upon a Time Universe.

Frozen was first hinted to become part of Once Upon a Time at the end of Season 3, when a blue puddle transforms itself into Elsa, who is facing away from the audience.

While we still do not know what Elsa is truly going to look like or who is going to play her, the world now knows who is going to play her sister, Anna, and Anna’s love interest, Kristoff.

Elizabeth Lail, who has yet to star in a major role for any medium, has been cast as Anna. While Lail has not had any big screen experience, her North Carolina School of the Arts profile states that she sings soprano, can juggle, and is certified in unarmed combat, along with knife, small sword, broad sword, rapier and dagger – all characteristics an Anna in real-life would possess.

Kristoff is going to be played by Scott Michael Foster, whose credits include ABC’s Greek, Californication, The River, and currently AMC’s Halt and Catch Fire. Much like Lail, Foster brings singing talent along, being the lead singer in a small, indie band called The Sirens.

While many fans have expressed their worries and concerns with integrating Frozen into the Once Upon a Time universe, Executive Producer Adam Horowitz is confident with the decision to merge the two worlds: “We are dealing with the world of Frozen. We are honored to be allowed to do it. We loved the movie. We fell in love with it when it came out last year like everyone did, and we want to do our best to do it justice.”

Once Upon a Time has yet to cast the character of Elsa, but Executive Producer Edward Kitsis does know how they want to portray the Ice Queen:

[What] we loved so much about the character of Elsa was that she was considered a villain but she never really was. She was misunderstood. That, on our show, speaks to us so strongly, that it was a toy we had to play with.

Elsa, Anna, and Kristoff will all make their first appearances on Once Upon a Time when Season Four begins on ABC this fall.
