    Microsoft services appear to be working after an hours-long outage that impacted Microsoft 365, Outlook, and Teams.

    According to Downdetector.com, users started experiencing problems in the early morning hours of Wednesday, January 25. The issue appeared to impact a broad range of Microsoft services and lasted for several hours.

    The company acknowledged the issue on Twitter, saying it appeared to be a networking issue.

    The company’s status page says services have been restored, as does their Twitter account.

    Downdetector.com reported a major outage Wednesday evening, with more than 10,000 reports from users coming in. Many were quick to point out that this eventuality was not hard to predict, given how many people the company laid off in recent weeks. People feared the reduced workforce might struggle to keep the platform operational.

    For his part, Musk seemed unconcerned.

    While this may be the first major outage under Musk’s ownership, but only time will tell if this is a one-off or becomes a regular occurrence.

    According to Apple’s System Status page, iCloud Mail has been experiencing issues since at least 6:41 PM. The issue is ongoing and there is no indication when it will be fixed.

    At the time of writing, the reports on Downdetector.com are decreasing, so there’s hope the issue will be resolved soon.

    Instagram appears to be experiencing major problems Monday, with users reporting being locked out and having their accounts suspended.

    According to Downdetector.com, the issues started showing up around 9:00 AM Monday. The issues seemed to progress throughout the day, with many users locked out of their accounts and others being told their accounts were suspended.

    A Meta spokesperson gave the following statement to TechRadar:

    “We are aware that some Instagram users in different parts of the world are having issues accessing their Instagram accounts. We’re working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible and apologize for the inconvenience.”

    Apple is the latest company to experience major outages, with most of its online services impacted Monday.

    The issues were first noticed shortly before 1:00 p.m EST. Downdector.com shows numerous services being impacted.

    According to Apple’s own System Status page, the App Store, Apple Arcade, Apple Fitness+, Apple Music, Apple TV+, AppleCare on Device, iTunes Store, Podcasts, and Radio are all experiencing an outage.

    The Mac Observer reports some users have also experienced issues with iCloud, impacting their ability to retrieve their email, while Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman says the problems extend to Apple’s corporate and retail systems as well.

    There’s no indication yet what the root cause of the outage may be, let alone when the issues may be resolved.

    Google is currently working to address an outage with Google Maps that is impacting some users.

    Google Maps is the most popular map app, used by billions of phones, tablets, and computers around the world. As a result, when Maps experiences an outage, people quickly take notice. Google has acknowledged such an issue, Friday afternoon, part of a larger issue the company appears to be having.

    Multiple Google Maps Platform services experiencing high rates of error, including several Web Services and the Maps Javascript API and services. We are still assessing the extent of the issue.

    A quick look at Downdetector.com does show a spike in issues with Maps, as well as Google at large.

    The company is working on the issue, and will hopefully have it fixed soon.

    Outage Impacting Slack, AWS, Github, Walmart, and Others

    What appears to be a major outage is impacting a number of high-profile sites, including Slack, AWS, Github, Walmart, and others.

    According to Downdetector.com, some of the internet’s largest sites and platforms are experiencing a spike in outage reports. The reports started mid-morning on Tuesday.

    At this time, it’s unclear what has caused the outage, although AWS’ inclusion in the list makes it at least possible that it is the culprit, since the platform powers so many other sites.

    Slack updated its Status page to let users know it was aware of the issue, but still not sure of the cause.

    Some customers are unable to load Slack. We’re still actively investigating this issue, but we don’t have any new information to share at this time. We’ll keep you posted as soon as we have an update.
