  • 2015 Dodge Challenger Is Most Powerful Yet

The 2015 Dodge Challenger is a thing of beauty and power if we are to believe what Chrysler is saying about its latest vehicle.

Today, Chrysler unveiled the 2015 Dodge Challenger to the world. Not only do we get a look at the car itself, but Chrysler has also spilled the beans on what makes this the most powerful Challenger it has ever built.

First off, Chrysler says that the 2015 Dodge Challenger will comes in two flavors – the SRT and SRT with Hellcat engine. As you might expect with a name like Hellcat, the latter is equipped with a 600-plus horsepower engine. The regular SRT will be no slouch, but Chrysler says the SRT with Hellcat will come with the most advanced engine it’s ever built – 6.2 liter HEMI V-8.

“The new 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat is the ultimate performance muscle car,” said Tim Kuniskis, President and CEO – Dodge Brand, Chrysler Group LLC. “Dodge is the Mainstream Performance brand, and now combined with SRT, we are able to unleash a true GT car with an all-new driver-focused interior and the TorqueFlite eight-speed transmission combined with the most powerful V-8 Chrysler has ever produced. The Challenger Hellcat has been released!”

Here’s everything you can expect from the new Dodge Challengers:

  • New 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat features the all-new supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI – the most powerful V-8 engine Chrysler Group LLC has ever produced
  • New Challenger SRT’s standard 392 HEMI V8 delivers 485 horsepower and 475 lb.-ft. of peak torque
  • Segment-first TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmissions available on both new Dodge Challenger SRT models
  • Dodge Challenger SRT with a Hellcat engine features new Pirelli tire technology with class-exclusive standard Y-Plus rated four-season tires to help handle extreme loads
  • Both 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT models ride on new, SRT-exclusive forged-aluminum wheels
  • New Dodge Challenger SRT with the HEMI Hellcat features the largest front-brake package ever offered in a Chrysler Group vehicle as standard equipment
  • All-new, driver-focused cockpit is designed for true performance enthusiasts with stunning style, premium materials, world-class craftsmanship and state-of-the-art technology

  • 2014 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel Exceeds Expectations

Earlier this month, MotorTrend released its annual Truck of the Year Award and, to its own shock, gave the award to the 2014 Ram 1500, which also won Truck of the Year in 2013. Why did this announcement come as a surprise to the people at MotorTrend? Well, perhaps because the publication has not given the Truck of the Year Award to the same vehicle in back to back years since the award started in 1979.

Knowing this information, one should not be surprised that the 2014 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel received 8,000 orders between February 7 and February 10. That is, unless you are the manufacturers of said vehicle.

The 8,000 orders placed for the 2014 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel has already fulfilled the allotment Chrysler established for the truck in the first quarter of 2014. The 8,000 orders for the EcoDiesel also represent more than 50 percent of the total orders for the 2014 Ram 1500, more than doubling the estimates by Chrysler. Ram Truck Brand President and CEO Reid Bigland had previously estimated that the EcoDiesel would account for approximately 30 percent of the total sales of the 2014 Ram 1500.

The surge in sales is most likely a direct result of the most recent Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) fuel mileage test results for the truck which showed that the 2014 Ram 1500 gets 28 mpg on the highway, better than any other full-sized, half-ton pickup on the road – and even better than the top-rated small pickup.

“The Ram 1500 is the only half-ton truck available with a diesel, so we see this as incremental business by having the only truck that can offer best-in-class fuel economy of 28 MPG combined with 9,200 lbs. of towing capacity. It’s every truck manufacturer’s dream to have this kind of initial order demand for a product. Fuel economy is the No. 1 request of half-ton buyers and the Ram 1500 EcoDiesel delivers without compromising capability,” stated Bigland.

Fortunately, consumer orders will receive priority over dealership orders. While Chrysler pegged the initial allotment at 8,000 orders, signs indicate that this number could increase if customer, not dealer, demand increases.

If interested, one can place an order for a 2014 Ram 1500 at any local Chrysler or Dodge dealer for the price of $24,200. However, if one wants the EcoDiesel engine, it will add another $2,850 to the total price.

  • Ron Burgundy is Now a Commercial Star [VIDEO]

There are very few times when commercials render DVRs useless outside of Super Bowl Sunday, and this is one of those times. Chrysler has Will Ferrell in character as Ron Burgundy in some new commercials to promote the 2014 Dodge Durango, which you might have missed while in a hurry to keep watching your TV show.

Don’t be too disappointed if you didn’t get to take in the undeniable greatness that is Ron Burgundy, as Dodge has posted all of the ads online. Under Dodge’s YouTube page featuring the Ron Burgundy commercials, they have the tagline: “Durango. Burgundy. It’s kind of a big deal.”

True story. Even though Dodge’s cars aren’t made of the finest mahogany, they’re still kind of a big deal, especially now that Ron Burgundy is endorsing them. There are several commercials, so make sure your keyboard is at an appropriate distance from any beverage you happen to be sipping on and turn up those speakers.

    Lie in Wait

    Staring Contest

    Ballroom Dancers

    Gumball Machine

    Ride

And in case you’re wondering how Chrysler came up with enough money to get someone like Will Ferrell to promote their cars, they didn’t.

Ferrell agreed to be in the Chrysler commercials only if he could star as Ron Burgundy, to promote Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues, which is hitting theaters in December. According to Olivier Francois, Chrysler’s marketing chief, Ferrell was given free reign with the ads, which is a gutsy move considering we’re talking about Will Ferrell.

The commercials have been a hit so far. “If I run an ad with running footage and a couple of stats, it would just get lost,” said Tim Kuniskis, CEO of the Dodge brand. “Now I can run an ad with Will Ferrell and immediately everyone is going to pay attention, look, notice.”

  • 2013 Dodge Viper SRT Steals New York Auto Show

We knew it was coming, what we didn’t know is how much the Dodge Viper still had the ability to take our breaths away.

The massive 8.4-liter V10 motor sends a 640 hp and 600 lb-ft of torque to the rear wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission. An automatic is not available. Unlike previous Vipers, this time around the power is tempered by traction and stability control, with a steering wheel-mounted launch control feature, but it can all be turned off for drivers looking for ultimate thrills.

The interior has also gotten an upgrade with LCD displays and and infotainment center, but it will be interesting to see if they have dealt with the “oven from hell” problem that the cabin of the old Vipers suffered. It use to get so hot that a lot of owners couldn’t drive it during the summer. It was also extremely loud!

To top it off, SRT also announced that it will be campaigning the new Viper in the American Le Mans Series! Maybe we can bring back some glory to American muscle cars that Mustangs and Corvettes cant offer.
