  • DMX Will Fight George Zimmerman In An Epic Celebrity Boxing Match

As if things couldn’t get any stranger in the world, rapper DMX is set to have a boxing match with George Zimmerman. The two of them will have a bout in the ring, while being officiated by Floyd Mayweather Sr.

DMX has been known for his aggression throughout his career, and he has also been arrested for several other things, beefing up his tough guy image that should work well for when he fights George Zimmerman.

Zimmerman, of course, is known to people around the United States for his murder of Trayvon Martin, a young African American teenager. The event took took place in Florida on February 26th, 2012, and Martin would have been 19 this month.

He stood trial for murder, but to the horror of most people around the country, he was acquitted. The incident and the trial brought up issues of race, and a large number of people were outraged after it happened. There are plenty of people that would like the opportunity to throw some punches at Zimmerman, but DMX was chosen out of over 15,000 applicants.

Someone like DMX would certainly show how tough he is once he enters the ring with someone like George Zimmerman, and on Wednesday his spokesman Domenick Nati said “DMX has promised to ‘beat his ass,’ but no contract or paperwork has been signed or agreed to yet.”

Since the incident with Trayvon Martin, George Zimmerman has continued to find himself back in the spotlight, and this time he will be doing so in the form of a boxing match with DMX. His musical career has had its ups and downs, and he is known for hit songs such as “Party Up In Here” and “Ruff Ryders Anthem.”

The idea was originally brought up by Damon Feldman, the owner of Celebrity Boxing. He has become known for setting up odd match-ups in the ring, and he said last week that he was accepting offers for someone to step into the ring for a three-round, pay-per-view fight with Zimmerman.

Feldman received over 15,000 requests in the form of email, and decided to go with DMX as the best opponent for Zimmerman. While it is being billed as a spectacle for the two contenders, many people also feel that it is a dangerous event to hold, due to the precedents that it could set.

Al Sharpton commented on the situation when saying “We must be very careful not to glorify or in any way sidestep the implications of making someone whose only claim to fame was killing an unarmed young man named Trayvon Martin into a cultural celebrity or hero.”

Others have also weighed in and started a petition on Change.org, a website that has been used for a variety of events and issues. The petition states that “This is a blatant show of disrespect and nothing positive or righteous would come from such a stunt.”

After gaining attention as a neighborhood watch volunteer, George Zimmerman will have a boxing match with one of America’s most aggressive and dangerous rappers. Is this a good idea?

In order to find out when and where the event will take place, stay tuned until next week. However, Damon Feldman said that he may be shooting for a date of March 15th.

  • George Zimmerman, DMX Will Reportedly Box Each Other

George Zimmerman, who was acquitted of the murder of 17-year old Trayvon Martin last year, has been in the headlines quite a bit in recent months–most notably for his arrest following a domestic dispute with his girlfriend–but the latest news is going viral.

Zimmerman will reportedly fight rapper DMX in a celebrity boxing match later this year, and DMX is ecstatic about the opportunity.

“I am going to beat the living fuck out him,” he told TMZ. “I am breaking every rule in boxing to make sure I fuck him right up. Once I am done with him, I am going to whip my dick out and piss on him, right in his motherfucking face.”

Although DMX says he wants to do it for “every black person who has been done wrong in the system”, Zimmerman’s promoter says they don’t want the match to be about race.

“We’re not looking at it as a race thing … We haven’t discussed purple, yellow, white, black,” Damon Feldman said.

The fight will last for 3 rounds and will take place on March 1, but it won’t be officially announced until next week. Zimmerman says he plans to donate any winnings to charity.

Zimmerman was arrested last November after his girlfriend, Samantha Scheibe, called 911 and said that he was threatening her with a gun during an argument and had broken her belongings. He was taken into custody, but Scheibe later requested that the felony domestic violence charges be dropped, saying that police had misunderstood what she said.

“I want to be with George,” Scheibe said in a sworn statement. “I do not want George Zimmerman charged. I make this decision freely, knowingly and voluntarily, without any intimidation coercion or undue influences. I believe that the police misinterpreted me and that I may have misspoken about certain facts in my statement to the police… George never pointed a gun at or toward my face in a threatening manner,” she says. “Further, I request that the Seminole County State Attorney’s Office not be allowed to harass me because I do not wish to take part in any prosecution of this case on behalf of the State.”

  • Amtrak Passenger Train Derails in South Carolina

A northbound Amtrak passenger train derailed early Monday morning in Spartanburg County, South Carolina, while en route to New York City from New Orleans.

Four of the 218 passengers suffered minor injuries, and none of the seven of nine cars of Train 20 rolled over after derailment. The incident occurred shortly after midnight, near Cedar Crest and Falling Creek roads, near the Clevedale and Fairforest neighborhoods on Spartanburg’s west end.

Amtrak, Norfolk Southern and the Federal Railroad Administration are still investigating the cause of the incident, and Amtrak noted that lighting and heat were quickly restored to the passenger cars after the accident. The Amtrak Crescent was carrying 207 passengers and 11 crew members.

Busses were brought in as alternate transportation for passengers already on the train, and refunds were offered to those who were scheduled to get aboard between Spartanburg and New York.

Barbara Rasmussen of Morganton, West Virginia, who boarded the train in New Orleans with her husband, Norval, said, “We felt a jolt, and it woke us up out of our sleep, but it wasn’t that bad. We feel fortunate. I give Amtrak a big pat on the back for how they handled the situation. It could’ve been a lot worse.” Four people aboard suffered only minor injuries.

Doug Bryson, coordinator for the Spartanburg County Office of Emergency Management, said, “This is a lot more common than people think. You typically only hear about the ones that overturn. There were only a few minor injuries. That would’ve been different if it had overturned.”

Amtrak, the brand name of The National Railroad Passenger Corporation, began operating in 1971. Today Amtrak operates 374 trains daily on 21,300 miles of track, at speeds up to 150 mph, over more than 500 destinations in 46 states. In 2012, Amtrak served 31.2 million passengers, and saw $2.88 billion in revenue.

In related Spartanburg news, troubled rapper DMX was recently arrested in that area, after being recognized by police while illegally driving, after being previously arrested multiple times.

  • DMX Arrested Again In South Carolina

DMX, the controversial rapper and actor, has been arrested again. DMX, is certainly no stranger to the law, and it is the fourth time that he has been arrested in the state of South Carolina just this year. He has previously been arrested on charges of driving under suspension, having an uninsured vehicle, and not having a licensed vehicle.

This time around, the rapper, whose real name is Earl Simmons, was caught behind the wheel of a vehicle by officers who had recognized him from his previous arrests earlier in the year. His other previous charges this year include driving under the influence and possession of marijuana.

A spokeswoman for the Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport reports that airport police arrested the rapper around 5 p.m. on Monday evening. He was arrested when he was not able to provide a valid driver’s license. He was only forced to spend three hours in jail this time around, before posting bond.

It is clearly not a new thing to see DMX arrested, and has been in jail several times already, including a 2008 arrest on drug and animal cruelty charges. He was sent back to prison again in 2010 after violating probation, and the list goes on and on for the troubled and aging star.

Before all of his encounters with the law and prison life, DMX did have a successful career as both a rapper and an actor. He rose to fame with the dance club hit, “Party Up In Here” and “Ruff Ryders Anthem” early on his career. He also appeared in several films including Romeo Must Die and Cradle 2 The Grave, both which co-starred action star Jet Li.

Despite DMX being arrested again, it is only a minor charge, and he hopes to continue a revival of his career as a rapper. He released “Undisputed” in 2012, and then earlier this year, “The Weigh In,” an EP was released in anticipation of his new album.

A representative of DMX spoke after he was arrested, saying that he is ready to make his comeback and “This short arrest will not affect any of his upcoming concerts and he is planning on performing with Swizz Beatz on Wednesday’s Wendy Williams Show.”

  • Steve Wozniak Met DMX in an Airport and Yes, There’s a Video, Thank God

Ok, so TMZ was hanging out in an airport just waiting to catch some celebrity doing something. It’s not like this is a rare occurrence or anything, but I know – some of you probably have some pretty strong feelings about this and other tactics employed by celeb-centric news organizations.

Once again, I know. But LOOK – they caught DMX and Steve Wozniak first bumping!

They planned a robbery? Can we please turn that into a buddy comedy? Did you see that brief look of wtf on DMX’s face when the TMZ reporter started mentioning the Apple II? Yeah, I’m going to assume that DMX had no goddamned idea what he was talking about, considering DMX isn’t too keen on the “google” or the “blogging” either.

Still. Great minds, man, great minds.

I want you to know that the above photo of Steve Wozniak is now my second favorite photo of Steve Wozniak. Segway Woz will always hold a special place in my heart. Love you, Woz.

  • Rapper DMX Arrested, Again, in South Carolina

It seems rapper DMX and authorities in South Carolina just don’t get along. The rapper was arrested again, this time in Greer, South Carolina, almost a month after his last arrest in the state.

Late Tuesday night, DMX, whose real name is Earl Simmons, was arrested after the truck he was traveling in was pulled over for making an illegal U-turn. DMX was then arrested once officers recognized him and realized he had an outstanding warrant after he failed to appear in court on a previous charge. It was then reported that the officer saw “a bag of green plant material I knew to be marijuana” on the passenger door, which also happened to be where DMX was sitting.

The rapper denied the marijuana was his, and the report says he began to have trouble breathing, which some say was actually an asthma attack. He then became agitated and the report also said, “At this point, Mr. Simmons became very aggressive with his words and was making multiple idle threats. The smell of alcohol coming from his person became very strong.”

It seems the arrest was also caught on tape.

DMX was arrested for his outstanding warrant and simple possession of marijuana. He was placed in the Greer jail, but a police spokesman said he was released on bail hours later. The driver of the truck, Anitra Rhodes, who is also DMX’s assistant according to police reports, was also arrested. She was charged with an improper lane change, as well as simple possession of marijuana. Three bags of suspected marijuana were found under her seat of the truck.

A rep for DMX said the following in a statement, “DMX was driving in the passenger seat when the vehicle he was in was pulled over last night. Although officers pulled them over for a minor traffic violation, DMX was asked to step outside so they can search the vehicle. Officers then claimed that they found bags of marijuana in the floorboard and arrested X. No drugs were found on DMX or the other passengers and the alleged bags of marijuana were never shown to DMX or the other passengers. DMX was released this morning at approximately 11 a.m. EST and is back at his home in South Carolina.”

  • DMX Arrested: Rep Claims It’s Not True

DMX Arrested: Rep Claims It’s Not True

DMX was allegedly pulled over on suspicion of DUI in South Carolina this morning and arrested, bringing his record to over a dozen offenses.

The rapper was picked up by a highway patrolman around 3 a.m., but was reportedly released a little after 4. His rep says he was let go after he passed a breathalyzer test.

DMX, whose real name is Earl Simmons, was last arrested in South Carolina in February, when he was pulled over for driving without a license. That time, he had his 5-month old daughter in the car with him. He had so many previous offenses in the state that there was a threat of jail time, but he said he would rather pay the fines he’d accrued than do time. Instead, he was made to wait for five hours in a detention center.

“When I could have just paid the money right there on the spot,” Simmons said at the time. “Basically it was just five hours wasted for nothing. I don’t have a court date or a court appearance.”

The rapper’s publicist, Domenick Nati, says the whole thing is getting blown out of proportion and that tales of a DUI are false.

“Allegations about DMX being arrested for drunk driving are false. He was arrested early this morning but quickly released. X was given a breathalyzer test and easily passed it. He is back at his home in South Carolina and we are continuing our focus on his upcoming album and acting roles.”

  • DMX Singing Rudolph Is the Official Start of the Christmas Season

Nope, it wasn’t Black Friday. It wasn’t December 1st. It wasn’t even when they first aired It’s A Wonderful Life on TV. The Christmas season wasn’t truly in full swing until this happened.

Back in September, rapper DMX stopped by Power 105.1 studios in New York City and informed the world that he wasn’t too keen on the ol’ Google. Not only is he unsure how to properly use it, he doesn’t really care for the word “google” either. The word “blog” is also on his word sh*t-list.

That was funny and everything, but apparently we haven’t seen the best thing to come out of that appearance. Well, until today. While at the studio, DMX decided to welcome Christmas a bit early with his own rendition of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.

It’s DMXmas, and that’s something to celebrate:

    Your move, Michael Bublé.

  • DMX Isn’t Too Keen on the Google [VIDEO]

DMX Isn’t Too Keen on the Google [VIDEO]

Apparently, internet technology makes DMX lose his mind (up in here, up in here).

Earlier this week, the Grammy-nominated rapper stopped by New York city’s Power 105.1 studios to discuss, among other things, Google. Not only is he not really into using the world’s biggest search engine, but he doesn’t really like the term “google” either.

DMX isn’t really feeling the word “blog,” either:

DMX does have a verified Twitter account, so at least he’s ok with that (or he employes a social media guy). We’re not sure if DMX really is this averse to internet technology, or this is just a bit. Either way, it’s pretty damn funny.
