  • ‘Titanfall’ Expedition DLC Announced, Previewed

By making Titanfall an Xbox and PC exclusive, Microsoft was betting big that the game would become the next hit multiplayer combat shooter. It is still too early to say whether that bet has paid off, but EA and developer Respawn will still be supporting Titanfall no matter what.

This weekend at the PAX East conference EA officially announced the first DLC content for Titanfall. The add-on, titled “Expedition,” will be bringing three new multiplayer maps for fans of the game to explore and compete in.

The new “Expedition” maps are named “Runoff,” “Swamplands,” and “Wargames.” All of the new content is related in some way to an expansion of Titanfall‘s story and takes place far into the “Frontier” space of the game’s world. From the Titanfall website:

In the wake of the Battle of Demeter, IMC Expeditionary Forces travel deep into Frontier space to recover from their recent defeat. On an uncharted world, the IMC begin construction of a new fleet operations base, using newly acquired water collection and filtration plants to support the new base. When drainage operations reveal ancient ruins and artifacts of an unknown origin in a nearby swamp, Spyglass activates an archaeological team to investigate the site. To maintain battle readiness at the new base, IMC Pilots use simulation pods to train for anticipated Militia raids, based on lessons learned in Angel City and IMC Airbase Sierra.

Titanfall‘s “Expedition” DLC will be coming to Xbox consoles and PC sometime during May. The content will cost $10 and is part of the Titanfall Season Pass.

“Expedition” is the first of three planned DLC map packs for Titanfall. Information about the next two DLC add-ons will be released as their launch approaches.

  • Goat Simulator To Get Free Content Update Next Month

Have you played Goat Simulator yet? If so, you might find the small map to be a little repetitive. There’s only so much a goat can do before it’s seen and done everything. That’s why the game’s developers are giving players a lot more content next month.

Coffee Stain Studios announced this week that it will be adding a bunch of new content to Goat Simulator in May. The best news is that all the content will be free as the developers want to try out a free update path for Goat Simulator instead of the paid DLC path they took with first two Sanctum games.

So, what will this free update for Goat Simulator contain? Here’s the full announcement:

    ATTENTION GOATS

A lot of you have been asking for DLCs for Goat Simulator. However, we wanted to do a free update instead, because goats don’t like to charge for new content.

Patch 1.1 for Goat Simulator will be adding a whole new playable map, roughly the size of the original map, local splitscreen multiplayer, new achievements, new goats, and more!

Patch will come in the middle of May!

Alongside the official content coming from Coffee Stain Studios, Goat Simulator is also getting plenty of new content from fans thanks to its Steam Workshop support. The game already has 54 mods and that number is only going to increase as more people get their hands on the title. These mods range from new goats and new levels to a chat system that allows everybody currently playing the game to talk to each other.

The new update can’t come soon enough though. Until then, you can get your bizarre simulator kicks by checking out Bear Simulator which has only 7 days left in its Kickstarter.

  • Megalodon Shark Found in Battlefield 4 DLC

Before the launch of Battlefield 4 DICE and EA coined the term “Levolution.” The made-up word encompassed all of the interactive map elements that promised to make Battlefield 4 a dynamic and realistic multiplayer combat experience.

Of course, many of the promises made about Battlefield 4, and Levolution in particular, were a wreck when the game launched last fall. Most infamously, the collapsing skyscraper promised for the “Siege of Shanghai” map caused some versions of the game to crash when activated.

This, in addition to a host of other broken features that led DICE to vow to fix the game before finishing planned DLC map packs for the latest Battlefield. That, in turn, led to EA being sued by investors who had expected the publisher to stick to its original DLC release plan.

Despite these difficulties, Battlefield 4 is now in a mostly playable state on all platforms. The game has also managed to maintain a dedicated fan base. This week those fans proved just how dedicated they are by finding a hidden Easter egg in the latest Battlefield 4 DLC.

The “Naval Strike” DLC was released recently, bringing larger naval combat to the game (and a hovercraft). In addition to the new maps and vehicles DICE also managed to pack in an extinct prehistoric terror of the seas.

Since the release of “Naval Strike” DICE developers had been teasing Battlefield 4 fans about content hidden in the latest update. The game’s community banded together to solve the riddles and this weekend a giant Megalodon was coaxed out of hiding.

Evidently gathering several players around a certain spot on the “Nansha Strike” map included with the new DLC triggers the event. The massive shark will then leap out of the water, crushing everyone unlucky enough to be beneath it.

Sure, it’s a bit pointless. But dedicated Battlefield 4 players deserve a bit of levity for enduring one of the worst triple-A game launches in recent memory.

  • ‘Call of Duty: Ghosts’ Extinction Episode 2 Previewed

Earlier this week Infinity Ward and Activision released a new gameplay preview for the next upcoming Call of Duty: Ghosts DLC pack. The content includes four new multiplayer maps, a new weapon, and a new episode for the game’s “Extinction” game mode.

Though the Call of Duty brand has become synonymous with first-person competitive console multiplayer, the franchise has come to embrace various co-op modes as well. Led by the Black Ops series’ zombie mode, players have been teaming up for years to survive and eliminate waves of computer-controlled enemies.

The co-op modes have become progressively more story-driven with each year’s new Call of Duty installment. Call of Duty: Ghosts‘ Extinction mode revolves around a mysterious and violent alien race dubbed the cryptids. The story of the aliens is set to be told over four different episodes released with Ghosts‘ DLC packs.

Today a new video preview was released for the second episode of Extinction, coming this week in the “Devestation” DLC add-on for Ghosts. Titled “Mayday,” the episode follows-up from the first episode released with the “Onslaught” DLC release for Ghosts in January. That episode saw players investigate the “Nightfall Program” research station in Alaska while battling off waves of cryptids.

The new episode will group players onto derelict research ship afloat in the South Pacific. There players will have to cooperate to take discover the secrets behind the cryptids and face-off against new cryptid types such as the 100-foot tall “Kraken.”

The “Extinction” DLC add-on on for Call of Duty: Ghosts is scheduled to launch for Xbox One and Xbox 360 consoles this week, on April 3. The content will roll out to PlayStation consoles at a later date.

  • ‘Call of Duty: Ghosts’ Devastation DLC Gameplay Previewed

Back at the beginning of March Activision and Infinity Ward previewed the second big DLC pack for Call of Duty: Ghosts. Titled “Devastation,” the add-on will be bringing new maps, new weapons, and new story content to the latest Call of Duty game.

At the time of its announcement, “Devastation” was previewed in a lengthy developer video describing the game’s new content and teasing a few of the ideas behind the update. Today a new video preview has been released for “Devastation” that showcases all of the action players can expect to see when it is released.

Like all new Call of Duty map pack DLC, “Devastation” will include four new competitive multiplayer maps. Named “Ruins,” “Collision,” “Behemoth,” and “Unearthed,” the maps provide varied settings for players to compete in, including a mountaintop Mayan temple, a container ship wrecked beneath a New York bridge, and an alien artifact dig site. Unearthed in particular is a remake of the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 map “Dome.”

“Devastation” also includes the second episode in the ongoing story seen in Ghosts‘ Extinction mode. Titled “Mayday,” the new story will take players to a Chinese research vessel stranded on the Tasman sea. There players will have to work cooperatively to uncover the ship’s secrets while battling waves of Cryptid monsters, including a few new Cryptid enemy types.

“Devastation” will also bring the new “Ripper” weapon to Ghosts multiplayer. The weapon is a combination SMG/assault rifle that can switch between its two firing modes on-the-fly, enabling players to use one weapon for both close-up combat and ranged firefights.

The new trailer shows off stylized gameplay on each of the new maps and previews how the Ripper might be used during combat. The second episode of Extinction mode is also shown, including a glimpse of the 100-foot tall “Kraken” Cryptid. The ending of the video even includes a special surprise involving a certain 1987 Arnold Schwarzenegger movie:

“Devastation” is scheduled to hit Xbox 360 and Xbox One consoles first on April 3.

  • Sonic Dons Link’s Green Hat And Tunic In Lost World DLC

Last year, Nintendo announced that Sonic Lost World would be getting two free Nintendo-themed DLC packs. The first was based on Yoshi’s Island and the second was teased to be based on The Legend of Zelda. Now it’s official – The Legend of Zelda Zone is the next piece of DLC headed to Sonic Lost World.

IGN reports today that The Legend of Zelda Zone in Sonic Lost World will be a bit different from the Yoshi’s Island DLC. For starters, it won’t be as linear as the previous DLC. Sonic will be able to explore an open Hyrule Field and even dive into a dungeon full of enemies, heart containers and other secrets. Sonic even looks different as he’ll be wearing Link’s trademark green hat and tunic throughout the level.

Of course, Sonic won’t be the only in the level wearing the green hat and tunic. Link from Skyward Sword will appear every now and then on his red Loftwing. This does present some weird discrepancies, however, as the Hyrule Castle is from Twilight Princess and the enemy models are pulled from Ocarina of Time. It’s probably best not to think about such things though and just enjoy the fanservice.

If you want to learn more about the new crossover, here’s a 5 minute developer commentary with footage from the DLC:

The Legend of Zelda Zone comes to Sonic Lost World tomorrow, March 27, and it’s completely free.

  • Battlefield 4 Naval Strike Has Weaponized Hovercraft

Hovercraft are inherently silly. It’s a boat that’s trying to be a land vehicle. They aren’t intimidating at all, but you can try to make them fearsome in the latest DLC for Battlefield 4.

EA and DICE announced today that the latest DLC to hit Battlefield 4 is called Naval Strike. As its name implies, it will feature large scale naval battles between battleships, pontoons, helicopters and the aforementioned hovercraft. In fact, the hovercraft seem to present some interesting strategies as the vehicles can move on land and sea.

Interestingly enough, one of the maps takes place at an old naval fort with 19th century cannons stationed on the walls. Players can actually use these cannons to take down enemy aircraft and even get more points for doing so. The new weapon has potential for loads of great YouTube moments.

Of course, the new DLC brings up a most pressing question – is Battlefield 4 fixed yet? EA and DICE were the subject of a lot of criticism at Battlefield 4’s launch due to the game’s multiplayer component being nigh unplayable for some people. DICE responded by saying that it would put all of its DLC plans on hold to fix the main game back in December. It’s been four months since then and some would probably argue that the game still isn’t flawless. It has even attracted a class action lawsuit from EA’s investors.

In related news, EA is in the running for the Consumerist’s Worst Company in America Competition for the third year in a row. The company has won the golden poo for the past two years. Will it be able to avoid a third or will EA suffer humiliation yet again?

  • Guitar Hero DLC Gets Axed Later This Month

Were you one of the millions of people who bought into the Guitar Hero craze all those years ago? You probably even have a few of the plastic instruments lying around. Well, you might want to dust them off as Activision is shutting off its DLC servers.

Activision announced today that all of the DLC for Guitar Hero, Band Hero and DJ Hero will be going offline on April 1. The mobile Guitar Hero game for iOS will also be pulled. As for the fate of your previously purchased songs or the online multiplayer servers, here’s the official statement:

Sad to say that the downloadable songs for the Guitar Hero, DJ Hero and Band Hero games, and the Guitar Hero mobile game will no longer be available after March 31, 2014. The Guitar Hero servers will stay online and any previously purchased downloadable content is unaffected by this change.

As a way of saying thank you to the community, Activison will have some song packs available at 50 percent off on PS3, Xbox 360 and Wii for all three franchises. There’s no mention of which song packs are on sale in the statement, but the sale will last until March 31. If you had any particular songs you wanted to get for any of the Guitar/Band/DJ Hero games, this is your last chance.

Those saddened by this news probably should have seen this coming as Activision killed off the Guitar Hero franchise years ago as sales dwindled in the face of consumer indifference caused by market saturation. Both Activision and Harmonix flooded the market with plastic instrument rhythm games and consumers just stopped caring. Sales went from millions one year to less than 500,000 the next. It was unsustainable and Activision pulled out before it lost more money on the franchise. It left open the possibility that Guitar Hero could come back, but this announcement makes that seem unlikely.

Last year, Harmonix ended weekly DLC updates for Rock Band in April. The DLC, however, is still available for those games and will likely remain available for some time.

  • Titanfall Will Have A Season Pass, Costs $25

For a multiplayer-centric game like Titanfall, a season pass was a foregone conclusion. After all, what’s better than making gamers pay up front for content that doesn’t even exist yet? The games industry has yet to find something better so a season pass it is.

Respawn Entertainment announced today that Titanfall will be getting three map packs this year after its launch on March 11. Those three map packs can be purchased individually, but you can get them all at a discount with the season pass for $25. That alone tells us that each map pack will cost the usual $10.

The season pass will be available on all three platforms – Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC – but it’s not cross platform. In other words, buying the season pass for Xbox One will only get you the map packs for the Xbox One version of the game. If you switch to the PC version down the road, you’ll have to buy the season pass again.

Speaking of the PC version, Respawn is now offering what it calls the Titanfall Digital Deluxe edition on Origin. This edition of the game includes the base game as well as the season pass content for $80.

Interestingly enough, it looks like Titanfall won’t just be getting new maps though. In the FAQ section of the announcement, Respawn says each content pack in the season pass will contain new maps, but that’s not the only thing it’s working on. The other non-map content “is still to be determined,” however, and will be revealed at a later date.

With only a week left until its launch, hype is at an all time high for the first big shooter of 2014. Here’s a launch trailer to hold you over:

  • Here’s A Behind The Scenes Look At The Last Of Us: Left Behind

The Last of Us was easily one of the best games of 2013 thanks to its stellar gameplay and mature storytelling that didn’t treat its audience like a bunch of a bunch of adolescent boys. It seemed like Naughty Dog would never be able to outdo itself, but it did with the first and only single-player DLC for the game.

The Last of Us: Left Behind was released earlier this month to rave reviews from critics and players alike. The tale of Ellie’s final day with best friend Riley was tragic, heartwarming and everything else in between. If you’ve already made your way the three hour campaign, you may find yourself interested in how the team at Naughty Dog made something so wonderful.

In a new video released today, Naughty Dog shares a behind the scenes look at how Left Behind came together. A single player DLC campaign was a first for the team and a lot of work went into the project to ensure that it came out just as good, if not better, than the main game.

Quick note: The below video does have spoilers for The Last of Us and Left Behind so you’ll want to avoid watching the video if you haven’t played either:

  • ‘Shadowrun Returns’ Expansion Out Today

    ‘Shadowrun Returns’ Expansion Out Today

In the early days of gaming Kickstarter projects, Shadowrun Returns was one of the most successful. Gamers and industry figures watched as Harebrained Schemes raised $1.8 million and delivered a solid game. As a simplified turn-based tactical game with an old-school isometric view and text storytelling Shadowrun Returns was exactly the type of game many PC players had been missing over the past decade.

Now, with fans already creating intricate story mods for Shadowrun Returns, Harebrained Schemes has released its first expansion for the game. Titled Shadowrun: Dragonfall, the game is now available on Steam for $15 (and does require Shadowrun Returns to play).

“The response to Shadowrun Returns was so overwhelming that it inspired us to pull out all the stops in creating Shadowrun: Dragonfall,” said Jordan Weisman, founder of Harebrained Schemes. “We really did our best to listen to fans and act on their feedback. We are thrilled to unveil our next story and can’t wait to see all the awesome new Shadowrun stories that the community will create with the Dragonfall expansion and the Shadowrun Editor.”

Dragonfall give players the chance to explore Berlin through an entirely new campaign. Players will build up a new character as they run the shadows and eventually run up against a great dragon. The expansion also includes new weapons, enemies, cyberware, and other customization items, as well as the much-requested ability to save the game at any time.

Harebrained Schemes this week previewed Dragonfall with a long (as in hour-long) playthrough of some of the early parts of the game. The video shows off a few of the new locations and abilities included in the expansion:

  • ‘Batman: Arkham Origins’ Mr. Freeze-Themed DLC Announced

Fans of the Batman: Arkham games can’t be blamed for being a bit disappointed with Batman: Arkham Origins. The game arrived buggy on nearly every platform and Warner Bros. recently announced that it has given up on fixing the game. That hasn’t stopped the publisher from pumping out more DLC for the title, except when it comes to the Wii U version of Origins.

Warner Bros. today announced the latest DLC content for Arkham Origins, a single-player story add-on titled “Cold, Cold Heart.” The content will be released on April 22 on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Steam.

As implied by the title, “Cold, Cold Heart” is heavily focused on infamous Batman villain Mr. Freeze. The villain’s back story will unfold throughout an icy Gotham landscape that includes Wayne Manor. Players will also get to try out new Batman gear including a new suit, gloves, and “Thermocharged” Batarangs.

  • ‘Outlast’ DLC is Coming in April

‘Outlast’ DLC is Coming in April

Last fall developer Red Barrels unleashed Outlast on PC gamers. The non-combat survival horror game was generally well-received and took its place among classic horror games with a mix of helpless running and disgusting/terrifying art. More recently Outlast made its way to PlayStation 4 where PlayStation Plus subscribers got to play the game for free.

Though Outlast would have been perfectly fine as a one-off horror game, perhaps with a few sequels, the game will be getting some DLC to flesh out the story of the Mount Massive Asylum. Red Barrels this week announced that the game’s first DLC will be out sometime in April for both the PC and PS4 versions of the game.

The new content, titled Outlast: Whistleblower, will put players into the shoes of a new protagonist. As software engineer Waylon Park players will play the part of a prisoner at the asylum before the events seen in the main game. Players will get to see more of the unethical experiments the doctors at the facility are performing before sending off the message that sparks the story in Outlast. In addition, Red Barrels promises that the new add-on will tell a story that continues on after the ending of the main game and, according to the studio, shows the “final chapter” in the Mount Massive Asylum story.

  • Free DLC Track Released For ‘Forza 5’

Free DLC Track Released For ‘Forza 5’

Forza Motorsport 5 was one of the most popular launch exclusives for the Xbox One, but was not without its critics. At launch the game was filthy with in-your-face microtransactions, offering elite vehicle unlocks for upwards of $100. Turn 10 Studios has since taken a do-over on the Forza 5 economy, though the game still sports less expensive microtransaction unlocks.

The game also sports some pretty funny crowd graphics.

For all its flaws, though, Forza 5 is still one of the only Xbox One games to run at 60 fps in a 1080p resolution, making it a clear contender for early Xbox One adopters’ dollars. Now Microsoft is sweetening the deal with a little more content – and for free.

Microsoft today released a new, free DLC track for Forza 5. The track is based on the famous Road America in Wisconsin. The track will be automatically added to career events and will feature alternate ribbons.

Of course, Microsoft isn’t giving away everything Forza 5-related today. Along with the free track the publisher is also offering a “Road America Booster Pack” featuring five new cars free only to those who are members of the game’s “Car Pass.”

  • ‘The Last of Us: Left Behind’ DLC Out Now

‘The Last of Us: Left Behind’ DLC Out Now

The Last of Us was the consensus choice for the best game of 2013. This is despite the launch of new consoles and an even larger rise in quality indie titles.

Naughty Dog and Sony have now released the first story DLC for The Last of Us, titled Left Behind. As previewed over the past few months, the new campaign story puts players into the shoes of Ellie, the young woman who features so prominently in the main Last of Us campaign. Ellie joins Riley, her best friend and a companion who will travel with Ellie as the girls explore the wasteland. The DLC is set in a period shortly before the main game’s story, while Ellie is attending a military school in the Boston quarantine zone.

Along with the content’s launch a new launch trailer has been released. As expected, the video teases that the tone of Left Behind will quickly shift as the realities of Naughty Dog’s post-apocalyptic world catch up with the girls:

  • New ‘Dead Rising 3’ DLC Released Today

Less than one month ago Capcom released the first DLC pack for Dead Rising 3. The add-on contained new weapons, a new vehicle, and a new short campaign story involving a “Spec Ops” commander trying to locate the President of the United States. That DLC, titled Broken Eagle, was the first in what Capcom is calling the “Untold Stories of Los Perdidos.”

Today Capcom both announced and released the second DLC for Dead Rising 3. Titled Fallen Angel, the new add-on provides content very similar to that seen in Broken Eagle.

The story in Fallen Angel involves a character named Angel battling both zombies and government forces. In addition to the new character story, Fallen Angel includes new weapons, a new vehicle, a new character outfit, and new achievements.

Capcom has announced that at least two more DLC packs will be coming in the future. Players can probably expect those add-ons to provide content similar to that seen in Broken Eagle and Fallen Angel.

  • ‘Assassin’s Creed IV’ DLC Coming as Stand-Alone Title

Back in December Ubisoft released the first campaign-focused DLC for Assassin’s Creed IV. Titled Freedom Cry, the content put players in the shoes of Adéwale, the first mate in the main story of Assassin’s Creed IV.

Today Ubisoft announced that Freedom Cry will be released as a stand-alone title for PC and PlayStation consoles. The content will be released for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 on February 18 and for PC on February 25. The game will be a digital download and will be priced at $15 on all platforms.

“We decided to release Assassin’s Creed: Freedom Cry as a stand-alone game for both fans and newcomers to the Assassin’s Creed universe,” said Tony Key, SVP of sales and marketing at Ubisoft. “Assassin’s Creed: Freedom Cry delivers key elements of an Assassin’s Creed game, including a new hero, new environments, and new weapons.”

The story of Freedom Cry follows Adéwale as he sails the Caribbean with his own crew and his own set of unique, brutal assassin’s skills. Along the way players can choose to free slaves from the plantations of St. Domingue (known today as Haiti) and help build up communities of Maroon warriers.

  • ‘BioShock Infinite’ DLC Coming March 25

Just last week 2K released a new preview for its upcoming BioShock Infinite DLC. The preview teased returning BioShock characters and a new, intriguing situation but was light on the details when it came to the content’s release. Today that oversight has been remedied.

2K today announced that BioShock Infinite: Burial at Sea episode two will be released for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC on March 25. The content will be available for $15 or as part of the BioShock Infinite DLC season pass.

Of course, March is the worst possible month for gamers to have more content announced for. The month is already packed with South Park: The Stick of Truth, Dark Souls 2, TitanFall, Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, Infamous: Second Son, and a few other great-looking niche games. It might be easy for gamers to forget the second half of the Burial at Sea story in the midst of such a big month for gaming, especially given the lackluster reception of the first half of the story.

Even so, BioShock fans who paid up for the season pass will get the conclusion to Burial at Sea and get the opportunity to spend even more time in rapture. 2K is promising that the new DLC will involve aspects from both BioShock and BioShock Infinite, providing a piece of fan service worthy of the BioShock series’ twisted storyline.

“In Burial at Sea episode two, we are delivering a story that involves nearly every major character from the original BioShock and BioShock Infinite,” said Ken Levine, creative director of Irrational Games. “It is a story that will give gamers a new perspective on the BioShock universe and conclude the story of BioShock Infinite and Burial at Sea.”

  • New ‘BioShock Infinite’ DLC Previewed

It has been nearly one year since the release of BioShock Infinite. Since that time the game has received numerous mentions on game-of-the-year lists and just this month was one of the free games features through Sony’s PlayStation Plus service.

Back in November, around the time new consoles and big annual titles were making their debut, 2K released Burial at Sea episode 1. The content was the first real story DLC for BioShock Infinite and brought players back to the undersea world of Rapture seen in the original BioShock.

Fans of the game have been waiting months for the second installment of Burial at Sea, and 2K today released a new video to tease them. The video shows a cut scene from the second episode, depicting both Elizabeth and Atlus in a BioShock mash-up packed with fan service:

In episode two of Burial at Sea players will take on the role of Elizabeth as she tracks down a little sister named Sally. The DLC features new areas of Rapture for players to explore and, according to the video, should be out “soon.”

  • ‘Call of Duty: Ghosts’ Extinction DLC Previewed

The launch of the first DLC expansion for Call of Duty: Ghosts is less than a week away and Activision is now revealing just how it has spent the marketing budget for the game.

Today’s latest trailer delves into the new Extinction mode content coming in the GhostsOnslaught” DLC next week. The content will be the first in a planned four-episode story arc meant to reveal the origins of the alien menace that players fight in the new mode.

Players will fight larger creatures than ever at a mysterious “Nightfall Program” research station in the snowy middle of nowhere (Alaska). Waves of alien enemies will have to be mowed down by players, including one that Activision claims is three stories tall. Two new characters will be introduced as part of the content and a new weapon will help players blast their way through the hordes.

Presumably, all of these new features can be discovered by players at their leisure during their next “CODnapping” session.

  • Here’s A Closer Look At The Last Of Us: Left Behind

At the PS4 launch, Naughty Dog announced that it would be bringing a single-player DLC expansion to The Last of Us with Left Behind. The new DLC chapter is a prequel to the main game’s story where players control Ellie as she makes her way through an abandoned mall with her friend Riley.

In the latest trailer for Left Behind, Naughty Dog talks about making a prequel featuring a character that you already know isn’t in the main game for some reason. While they don’t come out and say that Riley dies in this DLC chapter, it’s a pretty good bet that this will show us what shaped Ellie into the hardened survivor that she was in The Last of Us.

Beyond the story, Naughty Dog also discusses the new gameplay features players can expect to see in Left Behind. The playable character this time around is a child without much combat experience so Naughty Dog will seemingly focus more on stealth and manipulation. That means some rooms will feature enemy humans and infected allowing the player to pit both enemy factions against each other while they sneak through the room.

Besides the above making of feature, Naughty Dog also released the opening cinematic Left Behind. You’ll obviously want to avoid the video if you want to go in not knowing anything beyond the basic details, but everybody else will want to check it out:

The Last of Us: Left Behind will be released on February 14. It’s the perfect Valentine’s Day gift for that special somebody, especially if that special somebody is yourself.
