  • Jennette McCurdy Disses Ex-Boyfriend Again

Jennette McCurdy is dissing her ex again, this time on Twitter.

In what has become known as her trademark outspoken style, McCurdy recently told the world that “sometimes I look at old photographs of my ex and I cry because he was so ugly.”

Pretty much everyone assumed McCurdy was referring to ex-boyfriend and NBA star Andre Drummond.

McCurdy, 22, and Drummond, 20, dated briefly in September 2013 after meeting via social media. She was his #WednesdayWomanCrush on Instagram and she turned the tables soon after by tagging Drummond as her #MondayManCrush.

Before the two hooked up, McCurdy did a little research on Drummond’s Twitter timeline:

“… judging by the amount of me-related posts he had shared, it seemed he had been expressing his crush on me for quite some time. I found it sweet, gutsy, and flattering,” she said.

A native of Mount Vernon, New York who attended high school and college in Connecticut, Drummond has played center for the Detroit Pistons since 2012.

Their relationship progressed from a private message on Twitter to text messages to phone conversations to daily FaceTime chats. Eventually Drummond traveled from Detroit to California to meet McCurdy.

McCurdy had her doubts about a face to face meeting, but at the time she said it went well:

“Overall, the Andre Drummond I got to know in person is the same person he projects online,” she revealed.

After the break-up, however, McCurdy claimed the couple’s first kiss didn’t go well:

“… it wasn’t great. It didn’t go great. No sparks and the mouth … the shapes weren’t right.”

McCurdy rose to fame on Nikelodeon’s iCarly, starring opposite Miranda Cosgrove from 2007 to 2012. In 2013 she landed a title role on the network’s spin-off Sam & Cat alongside Ariana Grande.

Network executives halted production on the sitcom earlier this year soon after scantily-clad selfies of McCurdy began circulating online. McCurdy insisted that the hold-up was due to compensation disputes versus the photos.

Paradoxically, when she’s not dissing her exes and generally being brutally, sometimes offensively honest on social media, McCurdy has some wise and impressively well-written words about living in the Internet age:

“BE CUTE, social media tells us. BE CLEVER. BE A STAR. LIVE YOUR LIFE IN A WAY THAT MAKES YOU SEEM LIKE EVERY MOVE YOU MAKE IS INTERESTING,” she writes.

“What’s a lot more interesting, turns out, are the moments not posed enough for pictures, witty enough for jokes, or polished enough to be sent to the world. The nuances and subtleties of life that cannot be translated in a way that the world will care to follow are precisely the best parts of life that exist.”

  • Pontiac Silverdome Memorabilia to be Auctioned Off

Pieces of the former home of the Detroit Lions will soon be auctioned off, as renovations of the Pontiac Silverdome get underway. Fans will have the opportunity to own seats, signs and even stadium urinals, by way of an auction being handled by Plymouth, Michigan-based RJM Auctions. The auction will be held between May 12-16, and a pre-auction is offering seats for sale, starting at $100 a pop.

The Silverdome held 80,000 seats, and RJM Auctions facilities manager Jim Passeno has stated that every seat will be sold, pending buyer interest.

The Silverdome opened in 1975, and is located in Pontiac, and spans 127 acres. It was once the largest stadium in the National Football League until FedEx Field in Washington, D.C. opened in 1997. The Silverdome hosted the Detroit Lions of the NFL (1975–2001), the Detroit Pistons of the NBA (1978–1988) and four first-round games during the 1994 FIFA World Cup.

During a winter storm, the dome was permanently damaged, as seen here:

The Silverdome is presently owned by Triple Investment Group, and renovations plan for a permanent, self-supporting roof which includes solar panels.

Potential buyers can order clusters of seats at the RJM Auction site here. One can have 4 adjoining Silverdome seats for $385, and for an extra $25, a certificate of authenticity would be included. The scoreboard will also be up for auction.

    Silverdome intrigue via Twitter:

During its heyday, the Silverdome hosted Elvis, Led Zeppelin, Pope John Paul II, The Who, Pink Floyd and the Jackson 5. On March 29, 1987, the World Wrestling Federation’s WrestleMania III set the record attendance of 93,173, the largest recorded crowd for a live indoor sporting event in the U.S.

  • Maurice Cheeks Fired As Head Coach of Pistons

With NBA All-Star Weekend quickly approaching, marking the league’s halfway point, most teams are taking a look at what they’ve accomplished in the first half of the season.

And while some teams like Oklahoma City and the Indiana Pacers are playing extremely well, and probably won’t make too many changes, other teams are doing poorly and are switching things around a lot.

One team that’s made a big switch from the top down is the Detroit Pistons, as they’ve just let go of their head coach Maurice Cheeks.

Joe Dumars, president of basketball operations for the team, said it was incredibly tough to let Cheeks go, but he had to. “This was a difficult decision for the organization to make but we needed to make a change,” he said. “We have great respect for Maurice and appreciate his hard work.”

However, team owner Tom Gores wasn’t as kind when talking about Cheeks and the job he did this season, and he started out by criticizing the team’s record to make his point.

“Our record does not reflect our talent and we simply need a change,” he said in a statement. “We have not made the kind of progress that we should have over the first half of the season. This is a young team and we knew there would be growing pains, but we can be patient only as long as there is progress.”

And with a current record of 21 and 29, most would probably agree that the Pistons had to make a change and bring in someone who the players responded to a little better, because sometimes it’s best to just make a clean break and bring in a head coach with fresh ideas, so he can build a new level of respect between him and the players.

But Gores was quick to point out that it’ll take more than just getting a new head coach to turn things around. “The responsibility does not fall squarely on any one individual,” he said. But right now this change is a necessary step toward turning this thing around. I still have a lot of hope for this season and I expect our players to step up. I respect and appreciate Maurice Cheeks and thank him for his efforts, we just require a different approach.”

  • Rodney Stuckey Injury: Pistons Guard Needs Surgery

Rodeny Stuckey, the point guard for the Detroit Pistons, is injured and out indefinitely. He recently hurt his thumb after slamming it in his car door. His thumb reportedly became caught in the door jamb of his vehicle when the door was closing. He is a 27 year old player who has been in the league for 6 years.

The incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon, and just minutes before the Pistons’ first preseason game against the Miami Heat on Thursday, team officials announced that he had suffered a broken right thumb. Stuckey has faced an injury while on the team before and was forced to sit out for 27 games as a rookie, due to a broken bone in his left hand, according to the Detroit Free Press. He is one of the familiar faces on a struggling Pistons team, but even still, it is not guaranteed that he would have started in their season opener on October 30th. Head coach Maurice Cheeks had already determined that the veteran Chauncey Billups is the player who is most likely to start in the point guard position when the regular season stars. Billups, who led the team to a national championship in 2004, is returning to the team after years of playing with the Denver Nuggets, and two seasons with the Los Angeles Clippers.

Stuckey will undergo surgery on Friday, although it is up in the air when he will be able to make it back on the court. After the surgery, the team officials will be able to determine a timetable of when he will be able to join the team again. He was drafted by the Pistons in the first round of the 2007 NBA draft, and averaged 13.4 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game, during his first 6 years in the league.

As a comparison with other players who have suffered a similar injury, Sports Ilustrated mentions that Nuggets forward Danilo Gallinari was out for four weeks with a fractured thumb in 2012, and former Bucks guard Luke Ridnour had the same timeline with his injury in 2009.
