  • Google Says Drone Technology Isn’t Ready, Goes For Parachute Deliveries Instead (For April Fools’ Obviously)

Google loads the web with April Fools’ pranks each year, and the company is getting even more attention than usual for one particular prank this year. Read about the ill-fated Gmail Mic Drop feature, which Google pulled relatively early in the day due to…complications.

Another (perhaps less infuriating) joke came from the company in the form of a YouTube video about a new option from its Google Express delivery service. Admitting that drone delivery technology is interesting, but not ready for prime time, the company says in the video that it’s launching parachute deliveries.

Somehow, we think people would be less weirded out by this.

  • The Pope May Screw Up Your New iPhone 6s Deliveries, Ugh

If you live in New York, consider your Friday ruined.

There’s a decent chance that you won’t be taking tequila shot selfies on Friday night – well, you probably will, just not with the iPhone 6s’ cool new screen-flash.

Apple has sent out an email to New Yorkers who purchased the new iPhone, warning them that their pretty new rose-colored devices may not arrive on Friday, September 25th – the day IT’S SUPPOSED TO.

“Thank you for your recent Apple Store purchase. Your iPhone 6s 64GB Rose Gold is scheduled for delivery on Friday, September 25th. However, due to traffic restrictions expected for that day in New York City, your delivery may be delayed. If we’re unable to complete the delivery on Friday, we’ll also be making Saturday deliveries at most locations,” reads the email. “We know you’re looking forward to receiving your new iPhone, and we apologize if your order is affected.”

Damn right looking forward to it. What traffic restrictions, ugh?

    Oh yeah.

The Pope’s coming to America. Blame #coolpope for your day-late iPhones. Just another reason to boycott, right?

  • Netflix Stopped Shipping on Saturdays, By the Way

Netflix Stopped Shipping on Saturdays, By the Way

Though there is still a dedicated contingent of Netflix users who still take advantage of the DVD-by-mail service, the rise of streaming has definitely made it a less-robust community. That community, however, noticed that Netflix had quietly phased out Saturday processing.

A user on the Netflix Community forums first posted about late last month, saying,

“I did not learn of this change from the media. I did not learn of this change through an email from Netflix. I learned of this change while speaking to Netflix Customer Service about a problem with their website. They told me that Saturday deliveries were discontinued.”

A Netflix spokesperson confirmed to Engadget that they ended Saturday processing entirely in June, noting that the company had been “transitioning in that direction over the past year.”

Netflix’s official help page now states that “Netflix generally processes shipments Monday through Friday, excluding holidays.”

Although Saturday was typically a low-volume processing day, it’s clear that Netflix’s business model for physical DVDs no longer supports this extra shipping day. Netflix started out only doing Monday through Friday processing, and a few years back added Saturday (as quietly as they just killed it).

So – did you even notice?
