  • Deep Down Gets New Trailer Ahead Of Japanese PS4 Launch

The PS4 is launching in Japan today, but its launch lineup is a little lacking in terms of Japanese developed titles. Capcom’s Deep Down was supposed to be a launch window title, but it’s not going to make that date. Instead, Capcom did the next best thing.

In celebration of the PS4’s launch, Capcom shared a new trailer for Deep Down that teases more of the story and shows more of the monsters players will face as they explore the dungeons and caverns of the medieval futuristic world. The game continues to look a lot like Dark Souls, but it’s hard to say if Capcom will be able to replicate the success of From Software’s celebrated Souls series.

What we do know is that Deep Down continues to be one of the best looking PS4 titles currently in development. Powered by Capcom’s new Panta Rhei engine, it will be the first title to show off what the development studio can do with next generation hardware.

Deep Down will be free to play when it launches exclusively on PS4 later this year in Japan. There’s still no word on a Western release, but the producer’s statement in regards to Western criticism of the game’s lack of playable female characters hints that they are at least considering it.

  • Deep Down Becomes A Little Less Mysterious In New Trailer

Since its introduction early this year, Capcom’s Deep Down has been one of the more intriguing PS4 exclusives announced for the system. The free-to-play dungeon crawler looks to pull from a variety of other games, including Dark Souls and Capcom’s own Dragon’s Dogma.

Unlike other free-to-play games, Deep Down seems to have some semblance of a story. The game takes place in the year 2094 in a dilapidated New York City. Players enter some kind of virtual reality environment to explore randomly generated dungeons and fight the monsters within.

In the latest trailer for the title, we’re treated to a bit more story. In it, a disembodied voices says that players are exploring these ruins to discover what happened to the city. It also shows off a bit of the four player co-op gameplay that will be available to players.

Deep Down is still on schedule to launch sometime in 2014. It will be exclusive to the PlayStation 4.

  • Here’s The First Gameplay From PS4 Exclusive Deep Down

At Sony’s February PS4 event, Capcom announced an interesting new title called Deep Down. For the past year, we only saw a few trailers that didn’t really tell us a lot. Now Capcom has shown off some actual gameplay for the title.

This morning, Capcom shared four minutes of live gameplay from Deep Down at Sony’s press conference in Japan. In it, we see a game that looks a lot like Dark Souls, but with a more involved multiplayer component. We only get to see the multiplayer being shown, but Capcom says it will be playable at Tokyo Game Show later this month.

Interestingly enough, Capcom revealed during the demo that the game takes place in New York in the year 2094. The publisher wouldn’t say anything beyond that so we don’t exactly know why the setting looks to be a medieval dungeon crawler.

We’ll hopefully see more from Deep Down later this month at TGS. It’s definitely one of the most exciting PS4 launch titles announced thus far.

  • Capcom’s Deep Down Gets A New Trailer

Capcom’s Deep Down Gets A New Trailer

Deep Down was one of the more ambitious titles that we saw at Sony’s PS4 reveal in February. It was a brand new IP from Capcom, and it looked absolutely stunning. The game skipped E3, but it looks like Capcom is ready to start talking about it again.

At Capcom’s Network Game Conference, the company announced that Deep Down is an online game with a focus on dungeon crawling. There’s not much new information beyond that, but its presence at the Network Game Conference makes it seem like Capcom is positioning the title as a new online RPG to complement its already popular Monster Hunter Frontier MMO franchise.

Unfortunately, the above trailer doesn’t actually let us see a lot of gameplay. We do get to see some new monsters, and another brief glimpse at the amazing visuals that Capcom’s new Panta Rhei engine is capable of. It definitely leaves one wanting more.

So, when we will see more of Deep Down? Capcom says that they’ll have a playable demo available at Tokyo Game Show in September. The game is still only announced for the PS4, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see an Xbox One and PC version announced at the show as well. Deep Down is looking to be incredibly ambitious (and expensive). Keeping it one platform just doesn’t make sense.
