You may not recognize the name, but that could all change soon enough. Krysten Ritter is building an impressive television resume that probably includes at least one character you recognize, and her latest venture is the aptly-named ABC show “Don’t Trust The B– In Apartment 23”, which premieres tonight.
Ritter is a rare find; she describes herself as “not conventionally pretty”, yet sports the glossy black hair and ivory skin of a pin-up model. In fact, her bangs recall the likes of Bettie Page, perhaps the most famous pin-up of them all. Plus–rather importantly–the girl is funny. Her looks have gotten her typecast as the goth/druggie in several roles, but Ritter says this latest one has been fun to play because she gets to explore other sides of her talent.
The character, Chloe, is described by Ritter as the product of Holly Golightly and the devil; she scams and schemes her way through life, making enough enemies along the way to afford the show’s title. “Dawson’s Creek” alum James Van Der Beek co-stars, playing himself and Chloe’s best friend.
In perhaps one of her best roles, Ritter played addict Jane Margolis on AMC’s “Breaking Bad”, the girl who steals Jesse Pinkman’s heart and then goes for his bag of meth-produced cash. In a charming commercial for “Don’t Trust The B–In Apartment 23” in which various Chloe-victims talk about the vicious acts she committed against them, Bryan Cranston–who plays lead character Walter White on “Breaking Bad”–makes a cameo (and an inside joke, for you BB fans).
Viewers seem to be eagerly anticipating the show:

Don’t Trust the Bitch in Apt 23 is funny as hell to me. I freaking love Krysten Ritter!
@kathyrodi By all accounts, it’s quite funny (and raunchy). Krysten Ritter + van der Beek doing self parody sells me for at least a few eps
