  • Cupcake ATM Furthers its Expansion in NY City

This innovative approach to selling cupcakes may just make all you dieters throw in the towel.

Sprinkles Cupcakes-a Beverly Hills-based cupcake bakery-created the perfect solution for die-hard cupcake fans to purchase one of these delicious treats all day, every day, and any time of the day via a 24-hour ATM dispense machine.

Founder and pastry chef Candace Nelson, 39, opened the first cupcake ATM on March 6, 2012.

Nelson’s husband, who is also co-founder of Sprinkles, told The New York Post that the idea dawned on him one night while dealing with his pregnant wife.

“It was the middle of the night, and my wife really wanted a cupcake,” 44-year-old Charles Nelson said. “I own a cupcake shop and couldn’t even get a cupcake!”

Soon followed was the birth of the cupcake ATM.

Sprinkles, which also has these pink ATMs located in Dallas, Chicago, and Atlanta, has now added a machine in Upper East New York next to one of the company’s store locations.

Since Sprinkles’ ATMs are usually positioned right next to one of the store locations, it is restocked up to three times a day.

“The cupcakes are as fresh as they are at the store,” Mr. Nelson proclaimed.

The cupcake ATM offers a variety of 20 flavors to choose from including Cinnamon Sugar, Lemon Coconut, Chocolate Marshmallow, and Red Velvet.

The machine typically holds more than 700 cupcakes at a time. It can dispense up to four cupcakes at a price of $4.25 each.

Dog owners also have the option to purchase two sugar-free mini cupcakes for their furry friends at a cost of $5.

The price for an ATM cupcake is just 50 cents more than the in-store price.

The cupcake ATM is obviously convenient for those who are in a rush or desperately crave for a delicious cupcake during odd hours throughout the day.
